Hi ladies just wondering if anyone would like to join me on the final countdown from 30 weeks to newborn?!

I see there is another thread on here but the ladies are all at the end of their journey now, so was hoping to find some other mamas-to-be to natter with over the final stretch...!

Oops hadn't finished.....

She looked slightly confused and said that's what I've just been telling you. Felt so stupid and embarrassed and had to explain I can't cope with long dialogue at the moment! Need to get my brain back into gear quick! Anyone else struggling with baby brain?

superbfairywren · 21/11/2014 18:45

Totally with you. I usually have an excellent memory and lately I can barely remember what my husband has told me 5minutes afterwards.

I am finding I am more frustrated with myself than anything else. There is still loads I want to do around the house before the baby arrives but my body just won't let me.. Im constantly exhausted. Id like to be productive or at least enjoying my maternity leave but instead im sat on the sofa watching telly with my feet up the majority of the time, quite bored.

Actually had shopping delivered and am batch cooking tonight and tomorrow so that's something but the cobwebs arent going to remove themselves!

Bugaboom · 24/11/2014 15:07

Also exhausted superb. Just forced myself to clean bathroom and now lying on sofa whilst DS watches (more) cbeebies. How are those of you with toddlers keeping them entertained? I feel like we are watching too much TV but have little energy for anything else

LittlePink · 24/11/2014 15:51

Exactly the same here bugaboom. A lot of c beebies at the moment. Currently DD is ransacking my purse and pulling everything out. Had to get off my lazy bum when I drew the line at her throwing the loose change everywhere!

I tend to take her out every morning when ive got more energy but have been staying in after lunch. Its a long afternoon but I know if I venture out it will tip me over the edge if she runs off like she did this morning. Cue heavily pregnant whale attempting my best run after her down the road shouting Stop! Stop now! While she ignored me. Gave her a good telling off when she finally decided to stop, then all my energy was zapped for the rest of the day.

Finding the slightest bit of exertion is finishing me off at the moment. Went shopping last week to get some last bits for my hospital bag without DD while MIL watched her and ended up on the verge of a funny turn. Boiling hot, flushed face, overwhelmingly tired and generally feeling quite unwell. Came back said to MIL I need to lie down now and went up to bed. Would DD let me for even one minute? No. Screaming and banging the door down until I got up and let her in hysterically sobbing I want you downstairs now. It was one of those FFS moments, everyone just leave me alone!

superbfairywren · 24/11/2014 16:30

I really feel for those of you with little ones. This is my first and I feel guilty for neglecting the dog, can't imagine trying to entertain a toddler too.
A twenty minute dog walk at snails pace absolutely exhausts me and has done for the past few months.

I'm 39weeks now and am looking for any sign of impending labour... looking forward to meeting the baby now. How far has everyone else got to go?

Bugaboom · 24/11/2014 16:32

Just took him for a walk to local shops but like you littlepink had him ignoring my shouts to stop as he heads towards road. He had a dodgy tummy this morning so can't send him to childminder tomorrow- but think my day at work will be easier than staying home with him! Goodness knows how I will manage with him and a newborn...
Has baby turned yet littlepink?

Bugaboom · 24/11/2014 16:36

Hi superb. "Only" 34 + 3 here but feel ready to pop!

LittlePink · 24/11/2014 16:48

34+1 here.

Hes been very active at night lately. I think I felt him flip the other night but he may have flipped back again. Im not sure. Hes very mobile so im sure hes still free. Finding it hard to work out which is his head and which is his bottom. I have a feeling hes still breech. Seeing the MW on Thursday so she'll be able to tell me whats going on.

superb that's so exciting that you don't have much longer now. I remember looking for signs with DD towards the end and hoping every day was the day!

Have had shooting pains in my back and pelvis for a few weeks now sporadically and general discomfort as my bump just keeps growing and getting in the way. I think everyone experiences pregnancy differently so its difficult to know what's normal. Also difficult to know what is a sign of impending labour and what is just normal for late pregnancy.

As it's my first I am expecting to go overdue but all ready now just in case. Did you go overdue with your firsts?

LittlePink · 24/11/2014 22:05

I'm getting sharp, shooting pains in my cervix now and then. Not constantly but at least once or twice a day since a few days ago.

I was 14 days overdue with dd. desperately hoping I don't go overdue again.

I was 6 days over with first. I think all these symptoms are probably your body gearing up for labour, but doesn't mean anything will necessarily happen imminently. I'm exhausted and getting a lot of Braxton hicks. But I think I had these last time. I feel like I might come earlier this time.

superbfairywren · 25/11/2014 08:36

I was really uncomfortable at about 33/34weeks made worse by catching a stomach bug but I then got a little break at 35/6/7 where I managed to do my last shopping, clean the house and sort baby stuff. Now just feel like a whale and the pains are increasing daily. Fingers crossed you all get a little break from the pain/discomfort before yours arrive!

My midwife said my bump felt very ready last week. Have no idea what that means but Am seeing her today so will see if anything has changed. I have high blood pressure so am on the look out for preeclampsia symptoms constantly which might mean I have to deliver early. Hoping I can hold out until the little alien decides to make a natural appearance.

Bugaboom · 25/11/2014 09:27

Superb good they're keeping an eye on you. My high BP was missed the last time until labour- it was fine at 38 weeks so came on somewhere towards the end. Be prepared that they might want to bring you in if it stays high. Good luck.

superbfairywren · 25/11/2014 10:39

Thanks. It was fine throughout until 36weeks when it spiked and I had to go in be checked out/baby monitored etc. All was fine and my bp went back down but since it has always been slightly elevated but nowhere near what it was that day. Hoping it is down today at my appointment. Did you have to have continuous monitoring once they noticed your bp bugaboom?

I was in early labour at the point it was properly picked up. So they kept me in even though I wasn't technically far along enough. I was then under consultant care and labour ward rather than midwife unit. Unfortunately it stayed high so had to stay in and have meds for 6 weeks. But usually it goes down once baby is born.

superbfairywren · 25/11/2014 16:49

Unfortunately my bp was high again at midwife appt this morning so had to go to triage at the hospital to be checked out. Luckily bp had gone down but they took blood to test in case. Also had trace of protein in urine and signs of possible infection which is weird because urine test at surgery this morning was clear. Hoping its a blip. Am home now and just got to get checked again friday. Fed up of trips to the hospital now. .. just want the baby to come.
That sounds horrid bugaboom. Hoping my bp will go back down asap after baby arrives.

Bugaboom · 25/11/2014 17:03

Sorry superb just realised I wasn't clear in my post. I was only in hospital for a week post natally then had meds at home for 6 weeks. It's good they're keeping an eye on you- is Friday due date for you?

superbfairywren · 25/11/2014 18:24

A week today is my due date so got to go in friday for a bp check at the hospital and then normal midwife appt next tuesday on due date.
I see, well that's better than I thought. They said I have to deliver on the consultant unit due to bp but other than that if nothing changes hopefully it will be straightforward. Fingers crossed.
How is everyone else today? Are you all counting down the weeks now?

LittlePink · 25/11/2014 20:04

I'm having an uncomfortable day. The top of my bump is pressing on my stomach and ribs making me feel sick and been feeling exhausted all day. Felt so bad, dh asked dd when he got home what have you done today? And she replied "nothing". That's not strictly true, we did venture out to mothercare this morning and the chemist this pm but hardly much fun for her. The rest of the pm I just lay on the sofa but we did have some lovely cuddles while she watched c beebies and I dozed on and off.

What's everyone else been up to?

Superb- my sister had high bp in her first pregnancy. She was in hospital on bed rest for 3 weeks with it then induced at 37 wks because of it. She had 2 more babies since and didn't have any of the same issues with them. They were both problem free. It's good you're nearly at 40 wks though, this time next week you might have a baby in your arms!

superbfairywren · 25/11/2014 21:49

You poor thing, pregnancy discomfort is horrid. I hate that feeling of not knowing what to do with yourself as you will probably be just as uncomfortable however you sit/stand.

That's good to know littlepink, thanks. I have been fine except the high bp, no other problems except pgp which has settled down actually. I'm hoping because the bp problem has only risen in the last few weeks it is just an end of pregnancy thing and isnt going to upset the delivery.

Actually went out for dinner tonight which was really lovely. Although all I feel like doing is sitting with my feet up eating maltesers I have been trying to make an effort to do those things we arent going to be able to do as easily once the baby arrives.

Bugaboom · 27/11/2014 06:39

Anyone else feeling a bit emotional? Quite unlike me but felt completely overwhelmed at work yesterday and ended up in tears when someone asked if I was ok. Felt ridiculous

superbfairywren · 27/11/2014 09:41

I have days like that all the time, especially when still at work. I always feel ridiculous but you really can't help it, I think there are hormone surges at various points in pregnancy and they won't help your emotions taking over. I feel for you.

Im full of cold today and back in bed feeling sorry for myself after a night of not sleeping due to trouble breathing and hot sweats and managed to pull a muscle in my back from turning over trying to get comfy.
