Hi ladies just wondering if anyone would like to join me on the final countdown from 30 weeks to newborn?!

I see there is another thread on here but the ladies are all at the end of their journey now, so was hoping to find some other mamas-to-be to natter with over the final stretch...!

Good luck today superb Smile hope you have a speedy recovery and update us when you can Grin

How exciting!!!

I also have a stinking cold Confused

It's been a very odd day, but my baby girl, still without name, was born at 14.12 this afternoon weighing 8lb5. We are both well although still being monitored. She is currently fast asleep in her crib one side and my dh fast asleep in the chair the other side. Am exhausted and still can't feel much or move very well but very happy. Thank you all for your good wishes.

Bugaboom · 02/12/2014 06:45

Ah superb huge congratulations Flowers. I hope you got some rest last night. Enjoy those newborn snuggles

Wicked news superb!!! Grin

LittlePink · 02/12/2014 14:05

Congratulations! Well done. How are you feeling today? How was the first night?

superbfairywren · 03/12/2014 16:44

Thank you all, I'm still struggling to move quickly but I'm up and about a bit and we are home. We came home after just one night as we weren't getting any sleep. I am still struggling, because I can't stop staring and worrying about her and also because I can't get comfortable. Am worried about straining the stitches. She is feeding relatively well although my nipples are killing. Once I can stop worrying about her and get some sleep I think we will be fine. How are you all?

LittlePink · 03/12/2014 17:52

Get some Lansinoh ointment for your nipples before they become cracked and bleeding. Put it on just before every feed and your nipples will start feeling better. I soldiered on for 3 days in agony until I was told about this ointment.

I had bad anxiety when dd was newborn. I don't normally suffer with anxiety but those hormones mess with your head! I couldn't sleep even though she was sleeping well. I used to be wide awake after night feeds while everyone else in the house slept soundly.

I'm ok today. Getting used to the terrible sleeping at night and running on autopilot I think. Seeing my consultant on Friday to see if I need steroids for my blood clotting disorder and starting to feel a bit anxious about it all but what can you do but just get on with it!

I'm 36+4 now and finding I'm struggling to sleep too cheesecake. I'm not sure why though, as only need to get up once in the night, and can't say that I'm uncomfortable in bed or particularly worried about anything.

I've started doing perineal massage this week. Don't know if any of you here tried it for previous pregnancies with any success? I feel it's worth a go even if it can just reduce tearing a little bit.

Bugaboom · 04/12/2014 07:11

I thought I posted yesterday... obviously didn't press post! I also agree with using Lanisoh.
baking I did the massage last time. Had to have an episiotomy anyway. Won't be bothering this time. But someone recommended it to me last time and she didn't tear at all.
2 more days in work. 36 weeks tomorrow Smile

Castlelough · 04/12/2014 08:11

Superb congratulations on the arrival of little baby! Hope you are doing well now that you've had a couple of nights at home? xx

Bugaboom you are almost finished up in work now! Yay!!!

Ducky23 · 04/12/2014 08:23

How soon were you up and about superb?

I have insomnia too cheesecake Hmm

Bugaboom bet you can't wait to finish work!! Grin I thought I would be a domestic goddess but in reality I have just been sat on the sofa watching Jeremy Kyle.

Am 37 weeks today Shock going to hosp today to see my consultant to see whether they will keep my date at Monday with daily monitoring or if it will be moved to tomorrow. Confused

superbfairywren · 04/12/2014 15:05

Baby delivered Just after 2pm on monday, catheter out at 6am next morning and walked to shower about 7am. Had to have passed urine by 12noon and get paed check done then discharged by the evening. All quite quick and could have stayed in for a few more days but wanted to get home. Really glad I did and have seen the community Midwives each day at home so don't feel too out on our own.
Dd is doing really well and nipples are a lot less sore as milk seems to have come in today. Have been caking on the Lansinoh and put breast pads in the freezer too. Incision site seems a little bruised and swollen today but midwife wasn't concerned. Stitches come out Saturday and think by then I will be up and active a lot more, at the moment I'm in bed most of the time, with trips to the loo and some wandering up and down the hallway to disperse the horrendous trapped wind.

Glad you're all doing well, not long to go for most of you now, will be looking out for news.

Bugaboom · 04/12/2014 18:52

Ha ha ducky bet I will just be watching daytime TV too when I should be doing some preparation.

Superb just remembered that cabbage leaves from the fridge were amazing for calming down breast engorgement! Oh the glamour of those early days Wink

Bobbingalongnicelyalmost · 04/12/2014 18:56

Hello. Yes I'm counting down. I'm 32 weeks today. This is DC4 and will be my last, I'm both sad and happy about that Grin

Ducky best of luck if you are being induced tomorrow!!!

I finally started to pack my hospital bag. Went home early from work today as I was so feeling lightheaded and exhausted.

DH finally assembled our rocking cradle - rescued from my Mum's attic months ago - only to find that there are significant pieces missing...which will hopefully be found tomorrow...I still haven't ordered a new mattress for it and the bedding I purchased has disappeared in the house move. Feeling very unprepared and a bit panicked about the fact that we still haven't actually moved into our new house, and we still have no bed, sofa, table/chairs (or anything else, but these are essential before baby comes/visitors start landing in on top of us etc) Hoping our final mortgage drawdown will appear in our account next week to enable us to purchase some of the above.... Is it wrong to hope baby will be a bit late in arriving?! GrinBlush
