Hi ladies just wondering if anyone would like to join me on the final countdown from 30 weeks to newborn?!

I see there is another thread on here but the ladies are all at the end of their journey now, so was hoping to find some other mamas-to-be to natter with over the final stretch...!

Oh no superb that's all you need to pull a muscle on top of a horrible cold! The MW told me its very easy to pull muscles in pregnancy because everything is so stretchy because of the relactin hormone. Hope its feeling better soon.

bugaboom yes im feeling emotional. Mainly a bit irritable with DDs behaviour and a grumpy DH. We had a falling out last night and went to sleep not talking. Then I forgot in the morning I wasn't speaking to him and had a conversation about that poor cricketer who died and suddenly remembered oh hang on a minute, im not speaking to you, I forgot! Does put silly arguments into perspective though so I shouldn't be so irrational!

Baby has turned head down yippee! Not sure if its my exercises that have done it or he was going to turn on his own anyway but just need him to stay head down now. Hes still free so he still could bust some undesirable moves on me and flip back up again. Birthing ball it is, instead of lounging on the sofa. Its just so tempting to lounge though!!

superbfairywren · 27/11/2014 19:18

Thats great news littlepink, fingers crossed baby will stay head down now. They do say that once they are that bit bigger and they turn head down it is a lot more difficult for them to flip back around again as the head is the heaviest part.

My bump has been incredibly active today, even more so than usual. Doesnt seem to want to stop wiggling, and kicking me in the ribs. Have started getting calls and texts asking if the baby has arrived now.. I can see it getting quite frustrating if it continues for another few weeks. Bp check in the morning, fingers crossed it is normal again.

LittlePink · 27/11/2014 19:26

I remember how annoying all the texts were at the end with dd. I have purposefully not announced my pregnancy on Facebook this time because last time I had old school friends and acquaintances from 20 yes ago sending messages asking if there was any news. I don't hear from these people ever usually so it was like oh for goodness sake leave me alone! Especially when you go over, I got even more sensitive as each day went on!

LittlePink · 27/11/2014 19:29

Oh good luck for the morning! Hope it's settling down for you. Let us know how it goes.

Bugaboom · 27/11/2014 19:53

Good news littlepink and fingers crossed your BP is all fine superb.
I'm still emotional and irritable. Now with DH who bought a load of tat from poundstretcher to decorate our house with for Christmas. Seriously awful stuff. But probably not worth me crying over and storming off to bed telling him how insensitive he is... Oh well I could do with an early night anyway.

superbfairywren · 27/11/2014 20:16

Oh no, make the most of the early night bugaboom and I'm sure you will be feeling less emotional tomorrow. I get annoyed with dh daily about something, never rational. It has taken nearly 9 months but he has got used to it and almost laughs at me now!!
Thank you both, will let you know tomorrow.

Well this is the second night I've been lying in bed unable to sleep. pregnancy insomnia! Don't get me wrong I've had 6.5hrs but usually get at least 8, preferably 9! it's first baby so I know sleep will be a distant memory soon!
I hit the 35 week maker yesterday and today is my last day in work before I take annual leave and then Mat Leave after that. I can't wait!
Hope everyone is Ok and coping as well as possible.

Castlelough · 28/11/2014 06:42

I'm with you on the insomnia Cheshire Smile...you are doing well in comparison to me though - I'm managing about 5 hrs in total, on a good night.

Lucky you starting your leave tomorrow! Envy I'm 34+4 with three busy weeks left at work!

I have felt so much better since starting mat leave at 36weeks, except the bp problems. And not sleeping at night doesn't seem quite so annoying when you haven't got to go into work the next morning. Insomnia is horrible, I suffer with it anyway so pregnancy has just added discomfort to an existing issue. Hope those going on leave soon can get some rest. I found the insomnia comes in bouts so fingers crossed you get some good nights in before the babies arrive.

Just getting up ready to get to the hospital. Can't really believe that this baby could arrive any day now, seems entirely surreal still.

Ducky23 · 28/11/2014 08:59

Hi guys

So much to catch up on! I have been AWOL as I have had a lot of movement anxiety! Confused

I am also having the insomnia and I have a stinking cold!!

A week on Monday until my little man arrives! (Or maybe less! Shock)

superbfairywren · 28/11/2014 12:41

Bp is fine but baby is now breech although they thought it was head down for the last few weeks. Scan confirmed it and also caught that its measuring large so now scheduled for c section on monday. Big change of plan!! Hope everyone else is feeling well and gets some sleep over the weekend.

LittlePink · 28/11/2014 13:28

Wow superb it's really been a roller coaster for you towards the end. I would have recommended all my yoga moves to help turn baby but guess there's not much time now if it's on Monday. I had a section with dd so if you've got any questions I might be able to answer them if you need me to.

Had an appalling nights sleep. My whole body was in pain with cramps in my hips and legs and up for the toilet. Dh keeps saying I need to enjoy what's left of the pregnancy because we won't be having any more after this one. I'm trying to enjoy it honestly says the biggest moaner on the planet

superbfairywren · 28/11/2014 17:09

Thank you. Yeah, really wish they had noticed it was the wrong way around earlier, as I'm pretty sure it hasnt just turned at the last minute. Oh well, the staff at the hospital were very good and gave me lots of info and I could have gone for a vaginal delivery still. However they all said they thought I'd made the right decision as the baby is measuring large and it's my first so there was a high chance it would end in a section anyway.
It's weird knowing that the baby will arrive Monday when it was so unknown this morning but kind of nice to know the wait will be over soon. Going to repack my bags later as imagine I might need slightly different things for a c section. Any advice appreciated littlepink!

It is so difficult to enjoy pregnancy when youre in pain/uncomfortable and exhausted. Make sure you rest up as much as you can and enjoy the little things-your favourite food maybe.

LittlePink · 28/11/2014 17:40

Big granny knickers is a must. Cheap ones you can throw away. I stayed in 2 nights, probably would have been longer but I badgered them about going home and they let me. So pack for a minimum of 2 nights. It's always roasting hot on the postnatal ward so don't take fleecy pyjamas or anything like that! Make sure before dh goes home that everything is in reach for the night that you need. Mainly the crib so you can get to the baby easily. Try and mobilize the next morning and stand as straight as you can, although it will be hard to. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Bugaboom · 28/11/2014 22:10

Oh superb glad to hear BP is fine and that at least they picked up breech now rather than in labour! There is something nice is knowing when your baby is coming.

Ducky I hope the midwives have been taking good care of you and been reassuring about your movement anxiety.
I'm in a slightly less irrational mood bit it doesn't take much to alter it! littlepink, I kind of see what your DH means but I'm not exactly sure how you are meant to enjoy these last few weeks!

superbfairywren · 29/11/2014 10:07

Ducky, have you been having monitoring for your movement anxiety? Ive been in the day assessment unit and triage at my hospital a lot lately and they seem to be really good at monitoring and putting movement anxiety at ease there. Hope youre receiving the same care.

Hardly slept last night due to my cold and hips seizing up at 4am. Had some advice that I probably shouldn't go ahead with the cs on monday if my cold hasn't gone as the coughing and sneezing could open the wound afterwards and obviously not so good for the baby. My dh and I have both got colds but we have had for a while. Not sure whether the advice seems incredibly sensible or if it's just one of those things I'm going to have to cope with!?

Ducky23 · 29/11/2014 10:24

How exciting that you will have your baby on Monday!!! How long are you expected to stay in do you know?

I have been having fortnightly scans this time, weekly midwife appointments and have been offered twice weekly ctgs but turned them down as I felt thy were making me more anxious, they have been really good. If ever I phone up feeling worried they get me straight in and seen straigt away.

LittlePink · 29/11/2014 10:46

superb it depends how bad your cough is. I personally would not want a wound and a cough to contend with but everyone's pain threshold is different. I needed painkillers for 3 weeks afterwards but my friend had paracetamol for a couple of days only. Can you call the delivery suite and ask their advice?

I didn't sleep well again either. My hips are a nightmare at night. I ended up sleeping sitting up propped up with pillows in the middle of the night because the aching and cramps kept waking me. I got really irritated at one point, poor dh can't do right for doing wrong, started massaging my hip and I snapped just leave it, it's not helping! Mental note to apologise later!

I've become a bit obsessed with ofp as dd was back to back so im terrified of positions that will encourage this one into a difficult position for birth so sleeping in a reclining position isn't going to help.

Bugaboom · 29/11/2014 12:07

Superb do check with the team but it is very unlikely the wound would open. It's more like littlepink says- pain and discomfort on coughing. You could hold a rolled up towel against the wound as you cough to help support. Maybe try and get as much rest today and tomorrow and you may be over the worst of it by Monday
Sorry to hear of everyone's discomfort at night

superbfairywren · 30/11/2014 09:04

Ducky, they seemed to think 2 nights as that's standard but could be longer, depends how I'm doing and how baby is feeding. One of the midwives, actually the only one i've seen who noticed the baby was breech, said if things were going well and I go to theatre early on Monday I could come home late tuesday- meaning only one night in the ward. She was hopeful that because it's planned it could be all plain sailing, and she knew that I overheat really easily so I would be far more comfortable recovering at home then on the stifling hot ward. I am thinking it is more likely to be 2 or 3 nights though. Luckily we live only 5-10mins from the hospital so dh can come to get some sleep and see the dog but won't be too far away to come back if I need and bring me stuff in that I've forgotten(inevitable)!

Glad they are keeping a careful eye on you ducky. How long do you have to go now?

I have to go in for blood tests today prior to the op tomorrow so I will mention the cold to them and see what they say but actually I am feeling like i'm over the worst of it today, hardly coughing and just feeling a bit bunged up so shouldn't be a problem I don't think.

It kind of feels sad to be at the end of my pregnancy now, although I could go into labour any time now anyway, it seems quite scary to know it will be very likely be over tomorrow. Only exception is if the baby has miraculously turned but it doesn't feel like it.

Hope you're all having lovely weekends and have managed to get some sleep.

Castlelough · 30/11/2014 11:02

Superb best of luck preparing for your cesarean tomorrow! I hope it all goes well!

Hope everyone else is feeling well today. I hit 35weeks tomorrow so have to start filling in a daily movement chart. Can only imagine how worrying it is when you notice a lack of movement Ducky.

Still feeling very well here. We were at a wedding yesterday and I managed to last into the small wee hours and even do a bit of boogying. Hope I won't be paying for that today....!

Good luck superb. Hope it's a lovely experience. You must be very excited to meet your baby after all this time! Bet you can't believe the time has come. My due date is still 5 weeks away but feels like forever!

I've come down with a cough and cold. Was supposed to be going for lunch at some friends we haven't seen for ages but dh and dd have gone on their own and I've just slept on and off all day as I had another bad night last night.

How's everyone doing today?

Bugaboom · 01/12/2014 07:41

Good luck superb. Can't wait to hear your news.
Hope you're feeling better littlepink. Well done on the dancing castle. We went to a wedding at 38weeks the last time and had a great time. Don't think I could manage this time!
Last week at work for me this week. It looks incredibly stressful so will be glad when it's done.
