I never seemed to be able to keep up with the Antenatal Threads as they move so so fast, but now im 30weeks I thought it might be nice to have a general thread for those of us currently on the final leg.

Im expecting a boy at the end of October and have a dd who is currently 2y 8m. We had an eleven week loss last year so I am beyond chuffed to have had a so far successful pregnancy. Im starting to get very weary and my chest feels so full of my other organs at the moment!

Just returned from a few days away and realised the next time I use my little weekend bag will be for labour Grin so Im going to start chucking stuff into it over the next few weeks.

I am all for baby staying in as long as they need but am so so keen to just getting this pregnancy over and done with.

Let us know everything is ok LNMB, scan will show if baby is happy, x

JuniDD · 08/09/2014 14:29

Sorry this is happening LBNM, hope things are ok. It must be very scary. Thanks

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/09/2014 15:06

Hi, sorry I havent been on this for a while - we've got a bit of a family emergency we're dealing with, not sure the stress is good for baby? Sad
I'm currently 35+5 weeks, have finished work (whoop!) and generally feel huge!!
Seeing the midwife again on Friday which will be reassuring (hopefully) when I get to hea the hearbeat and she checks my blood pressure etc.
Hopefully she'll say baby has turned now too and is in position ready the big day - not long now, eek!!

LBNM19 · 10/09/2014 17:17

Hi everyone, bleeding calmed down alot now, just hoping I don't get any more now as I imagine ill either be having him earlier or in hospital for a while. 34 weeks today xx

JuniDD · 11/09/2014 09:22

hey LBN, glad things are calmer, sorry you had to go through it.

I'm suffering with the sudden onset of very bad hip/back pain. Sitting on the ball and leaning over it seems to help but resting on the sofa or lying down sets it off. Not very relaxing!

pinkteapots · 11/09/2014 10:30

LBNM - thats great. Try just relax now. We all know the important thing is baby is ok regardless of arrival time! she says, through gritted teeth, staring at calendar!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 11/09/2014 10:32

Hello again everyone! Good luck to all nearing the end and those who are having obstacles!

Im also in hospital at 33w4 as I had reduced movement and started contracting when I came in. No pains at all bit still showing contractions on the trace so they are currently giving steroids and meds to slow any labour.

How's it going think?

Anyone got plans for the weekend? I'm hoping to get everything washed and packed ready! Shock

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/09/2014 11:25

Well I ended up having to stay on in hospital but theyve stopped the contractions. Home now and due back up at 1pm for a check up. I asked to leave lastnight at eleven as there was a woman on my bay snoring like a freaking freight train so id never have got to sleep. Thankfully they let me home as long as I pop up this afternoon. Have repacked the labour bag and am leaving it, the milk, nappies and carseat in the boot of the car from now on!

Hey thank, glad things seem to be calmer. Probably a good idea to have the bag ready though!

Does anyone else's baby have really active days? Mine has barely stopped today, which is really unusual. I just know it'll barely do anything tomorrow and freak me right out! Had 34 week midwife appointment and all ok. Can't believe I'm 34 weeks!

pinkteapots · 12/09/2014 20:41

Good point about bags. Has everyone else packed? I've thrown stuff into a general hospital/baby heap in the corner, but no bag and not packed.

Juni I never have figured out this baby's movements! Its all over the place and active without pattern (that I can figure out). I do like the reassurance of a regular toe poke though...

Any of the other breech babies turn yet? Ive a scan for position on wednesday, but cant tell if anything has changed or not. No great obvious flip over...

petitverdot · 12/09/2014 20:48

I've been packed for a couple of weeks. 38 weeks today and symptom spotting like crazy, but hoping he'll hold off until I've had my hair cut on Tuesday! Thinking I'll go a couple of days over at this point though - doesn't feel imminent

JuniDD · 12/09/2014 21:59

I've got bags and packed some stuff for me (paranoid about something happening early) but still need to sort out the baby bag. We may do it this weekend or my mum & SIL are coming on Monday so we might do it then.

Thanks for saying about the movements pink, the midwife keeps going on about this mythical "pattern" but it just moves if I sit down for 10 mins or rub its back. And today, when it has barely stopped moving!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/09/2014 22:11

Anyone else purchasing some sort of mattress protector for the bed incase of waters? Our IKEA mattress came with a 25yr guarantee but i dont think it covers amniotic fluid Grin

I didnt even think about it with dd, but this pregnancy is progressing very differently and I wonder whether its something I may need to arrange. Are they really plasticky and sweaty?

OP posts:
JuniDD · 12/09/2014 22:12

Ooh, my SIL gave me one of those maternity pads, been meaning to put it on the bed, actually. I think it will probably be a bit hot, but I am anyway so won't make much difference! It's like those puppy training pads rather than a full sheet.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/09/2014 22:13

oh like they put under you in the actual hospital bed? That could work!

OP posts:
JuniDD · 12/09/2014 22:34

This kind of thing although it looks more like a disposable change mat! Hmm This is my first so don't know if they give you one in hospital.

My mattress would never dry out if waters went on it so that's another job!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/09/2014 22:36

ooh i will pick up a pack of them. Be handy for the sofa too - its very new and im nervous about giving the stainguard too big a test.

OP posts:
pinkteapots · 13/09/2014 07:46

ive a pack of those too, though when they broke my waters with dc1 they had me lying on a few and kept doing a 'yes dear' every time I told them it was really very wet. They looked a bit taken aback when they finally listened and saw I was swimming in a puddle and it was dripping onto the floor!! I got fleece lined rubber backed bed protectors from argos for the childrens beds. if they do king sized and you want total peace of mind, I dont find them rustley etc. Terry backed and fitted, not expensive. Theyre on amazon too.

Missus2ndwife · 14/09/2014 21:14

My waters breaking is the one thing I'm nervous about. Just this weekend we were wondering whether to buy a waterproof mattress protector just in case.

I plan on buying those Boots things too but unsure whether that will be enough

amy83firsttimer · 14/09/2014 22:45

Ikea are moving to mainly imperial measurements in UK stores for mattresses / associated stuff so their metric mattress protectors are on "last chance to buy ". I got one last week. Not rustly or sweaty, Terry - backed and waterproof. My mum bought us a new mattress when I was about 12-15 weeks as a birthday present so didn't want to ruin it.

Oh and hello, 32 weeks tomorrow and increasingly impatient.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 14/09/2014 22:50

Oh might have to try ikea - our mattress is an ikea one so hopefully will get one to fit.

Got a growth scan booked in for today - didnt have one of these last time Confused so no idea what to expect - anyone know what will happen if baby is too big or too small for my dates?

OP posts:
amy83firsttimer · 16/09/2014 09:37

Don't know about growth scans I'm afraid. What reason was given for the scan?

I'm on day 1 of 4 days off work in a row. Can't wait. Still in dressing gown. Feels amazing!!!!
