Hey so I'm very new to this but I just wanted to get a few things off my chest and save my partner from another night of moaning!

I'm currently 38+2 and I'm feeling more and more uncomfortable each day... I am so hormonal and forever shouting at my loved one Sad! Every day things are becoming even more unbearable, just turning over in bed hurts!! I've been having a lot of pain when doing daily tasks such as walking and by the end of the day I'm in agony!! My midwife said it is SPD or something.

Anyway sorry about the complaining I am very privileged and excited to meet our little boy and still have had very little signs that he will enter the world anytime soon... I only ever tend to feel 1 or 2 Braxton Hicks at night which are very very mild, I've also not had any sort of show that I know of... I get the odd sharp pain that shoots through my cervix but that is about it!!! Has anyone ever gone into labour out of the blue with no signs? And is anyone else feeling as fed up as I am... Or am I just a moaning mertal Grin.

I know patience is key and he will arrive when he's ready but I just feel like everyone else is having their babies and I'm going to be a whale forever!!! Rant over.

Todays a new day, hope we have some babys showing up today. Or some sort of progress. I will be bouncing on my ball and might do some gardening to get moving.

You need a plan to deal with the contractions. I used this (in order) so I knew where I was 'coping' wise:

Paracetamol
Ball
TENS
Visualisation
Breathing sail boat across the water/feather across a bed
Chanting ah, o, m
Gas and air
Pool
Birthday candle breathing

I never got beyond pool but next would've been:

Diamorphine
Epidural

I knew my order and I knew where I was in my order which helped me feel in control.

stargirl1701 · 19/08/2014 10:37

Wrong thread, sorry.

Droflove · 19/08/2014 14:04

No, I like your list! Will use that soon I hope. X

scrufhead · 19/08/2014 14:27

Can I join?! I'm 38 +3 :) I've been having regular contractions for around 4 hours for the past week- i think it's starting then nothing!!!

startwig1982 · 19/08/2014 16:19

Had my sweep today and I'm about 2/3cm. Apparently baby's head still isn't fully down and because it's not pressing on my cervix, my cervix isn't effacing. Induction on Thursday looks imminent.

BeccaBrkr7 · 19/08/2014 16:38

Atleast u know that u will deff meet your baby Thursday!!! How exciting!!! It's all so disheartening this going in to labour business!! Hmm
I just saw my midwife and she said by what I've told her, my body is trying to get things going but it's just very slow!! Had more of the show today and irregular contractions but quite painful! Have cleaned my house top to bottom and even been out and stocked up on toiletries and cleaning products!!
Just waiting for DP to come home and mess it all up with his dirty work clothes!

ImNotAFlower · 19/08/2014 16:58

I have adopted a 'walk baby out' policy today... Been shopping for shoes for toddler DD (last week of school holidays-did not think that through lol), went to the supermarket, then shopping for a bike (not for me) this afternoon... Progress so far?- I have backache brilliant HmmSmile

TheWoot · 19/08/2014 17:22

May I join in please? I am 39 +6 today. Feeling absolutely no twinges nothing seems to be happening at all. But luckily I'm feeling better than I have in weeks. At 36 weeks I was convinced it was all going to happen, lots of aches and pains but now nothing. A bit of hip pain at night, but that has actually eased over the past few days.
Good luck to everyone and congratulations to those who have already had their babies.

Heatherbell1978 · 19/08/2014 17:31

So 40+4 and back from mw. Had a sweep although she says cervix is still quite closed so didn't manage to do a 'lot' of sweeping......baby is well engaged now and cervix is now forward (was posterior last week). But....he's only gone and turned round to being back to back. I really hope it's just a coincudence that he happened to be like that today and he moves again....she kind of worried me but saying that unless he moves, it's pretty much def an induction (next Wednesday) and I'll need an epidural. Oh, great:-(

Hello All

My sensational little golden-haired boy arrived on Sunday morning. He's incredible!

Labour began on Thursday evening (very mild pain at that stage) increasing on Friday followed by a crippling 12 hours of agony at home between bath and bed on Saturday. Hospital sent me home after hours of really agonising contractions as still only 1cm Sad Confused although it honestly felt like it should have been more like 5cm!

Determined not to go back to hospital again too soon I then over-did the hard work and by the time we returned to the hospital I was 8cm and desperate for pain relief.

Sadly he was stuck so I had to have forceps which was one of my greatest fears. They said they'd do just three attempts and then they'd have to do c-section. However, the staff were amazing. He arrived safely and completely unmarked on first push.

Hope this is not TMI - thought it might be helpful in some way to share..

Thinking of everyone still waiting for labour to begin and hope you have as little pain as possible. Looking forward to the updates!

stargirl1701 · 19/08/2014 17:59

Redling · 19/08/2014 19:06

Nathaniel Arthur born around 1.30pm, it all went a bit crazy and wrong at the end, but that's a long story and he's perfect but for his poor head (suctioned out!)

ImNotAFlower · 19/08/2014 19:17

Aw Redling, congratulations. What a beautiful name. Take care.

Ellie2elysia · 19/08/2014 19:37

Heatherbell1978 · 19/08/2014 20:23

Congratulations redling what great news! I'm obviously jealous as no progress to report at this end!

startwig1982 · 19/08/2014 21:37

Congrats Redling! What a lovely name. Glad it all got going and you weren't waiting around too long. Smile

MrsGiraffe12 · 19/08/2014 23:38

Yay to all the new mummies :-)

I'm still in slow labour. 2 weeks now but no dilation or anything. Am 37+2 with DC 2

Redling · 19/08/2014 23:55

Thanks, I'm in overnight because I ended up with an spinal as they were thinking about c section, so I'm currently watching him suck his fingers after 1 hours sleep since Sunday night! Crazy times. All in all not a terribly long early/active phase but it just fell apart at the end and I think you've got to just go with it. The spinal allowed me to finish the job however craply! And he is incredible so I'm just going to forget about the birth (but not too much, right now I think Nat's an only child!).

freedom2011 · 20/08/2014 05:05

hi, congratulations on the babies! please may I join? I am 41 weeks today (40+3 by my calculations) and keeping my stress and fear level down is getting tricker by the day.
