Hey so I'm very new to this but I just wanted to get a few things off my chest and save my partner from another night of moaning!

I'm currently 38+2 and I'm feeling more and more uncomfortable each day... I am so hormonal and forever shouting at my loved one Sad! Every day things are becoming even more unbearable, just turning over in bed hurts!! I've been having a lot of pain when doing daily tasks such as walking and by the end of the day I'm in agony!! My midwife said it is SPD or something.

Anyway sorry about the complaining I am very privileged and excited to meet our little boy and still have had very little signs that he will enter the world anytime soon... I only ever tend to feel 1 or 2 Braxton Hicks at night which are very very mild, I've also not had any sort of show that I know of... I get the odd sharp pain that shoots through my cervix but that is about it!!! Has anyone ever gone into labour out of the blue with no signs? And is anyone else feeling as fed up as I am... Or am I just a moaning mertal Grin.

I know patience is key and he will arrive when he's ready but I just feel like everyone else is having their babies and I'm going to be a whale forever!!! Rant over.

Been following this since it started and would like to join you! I'm 37+5 been having painful Braxton hicks for nearly 2 weeks now, baby was 2/5 engaged on Monday (I'm sure he's fully engaged now tho as there's been a lot of movement down there) so I'm hoping I won't go overdue but you never can tell!

Ellie2elysia · 14/08/2014 20:14

With this being my first I'm expecting to go over and it's a boy (lazy lazy lazy)! I just want him to be in my arms not in my tummy :(.

Woke up around 3 am with some really strong period pains which obviously resulted in nothing. What to do today bored already.

Redling · 15/08/2014 10:42

So today is the Day! And I feel nowt like labour! Oddly though I feel calmer knowing that from today there is a process, which may not be pleasant but will result in a baby! Sweep tomorrow afternoon, so I can at least see if cervix is going anything. Going for a meal tonight I think. Wondering whether to treat myself to a cheeky unit or 2 of wine as well, I've earned it! I've been pregnant for a million years!

Mmolly2013 · 15/08/2014 10:55

That's why I'm frustrated I think if I go overdue I have to wait till my 41 weeks as that is when my hospital appointment has been booked for, which is so late. Hopefully the end is in sight for you. Definitely have a unit or 2 of wine you deserve it .

I got stuck this morning Sad

Woke up at 5.15am and tried to get out of bed. Crazy pain from the SPD and a bulging lumbar disc. DH finally levered me up at 6.05am. I was too scared to go back to bed. I'm sitting in a chair just now trying to doze.

Come out baby, come out. Due date tomorrow...

Redling · 15/08/2014 11:18

Mmolly do you see your midwife for your 40 week appointment before then? I was very surprised she offered me a sweep so early as I assumed I'd be booked in to do it the next week when she was back at the GP surgery, I didn't think I'd get a home visit. Fingers crossed for you! A sweep of course isn't guaranteed to work by any means but I really just want to know how things are going.

Stargirl you poor poor thing, I have to be rolled out of bed and I don't even have SPD. Do you have any kind of comfy/reclining chair you can relax in? Or maybe make a pile of pillows to prop you up in bed so you don't have so far to sit up when you get up? Fingers crossed baby will come soon and it will clear up for you x

Mmolly2013 · 15/08/2014 11:34

I live in NI so we do doctors appts at 33,36,38 and then your next appt is at the hospital which should be around your due date but the next available date for me happens to be when I'm 41 weeks. My doctor wants me to make an appt with him at 40 weeks just to check my blood pressure etc because the hospital have gave me such a late date. I asked about a sweep but they won't even consider it here until you go to hospital.

You only see a midwife here only at scans at 12, 20, 30 weeks. Everything else is just doctors check ups.

So if I haven't went before that they will then discuss induction, but then that only gives me a few days as they don't like you to go more than 10 days over.

Ellie2elysia · 15/08/2014 13:53

I have the midwife today and I'm hoping this will be the last time I see her as lovely as she is :). It's very warm today and I must admit I'm very much dreading walking the 5 minutes to my doctors haha. 11 days and I swear I'm not counting :p

Tried to nap in a chair but moved to couch.

I'm stuck again. FFS!

Ellie2elysia · 15/08/2014 16:44

So just a quick update, went to the midwife and I'm measuring at 36 weeks... I am 38+3 but she didn't seem at all worried and said it can be because of the way baby is lying ect... Also he is no more engaged than he was at my 36 week appointment 3/5 palpable... Does every baby have to be fully engaged to get things started off... Am I going to pregnant forever!? It certainly feels like it :(

Mmolly2013 · 15/08/2014 17:08

At my appt last week I was told I'm 3/5 also so hopefully it gets going soon (38+6)

startwig1982 · 15/08/2014 17:59

My sweep yesterday appears to have done nothing. Another one booked for tomorrow, when I'll be 40+7. I've had lots of grumbling today so maybe tomorrow's sweep will be more positive.

Ellie2elysia · 15/08/2014 18:34

I've been told I won't get my first sweep until I'm 41 weeks!

Heatherbell1978 · 15/08/2014 19:25

Ellie I've been 3/5 palpable since 35 weeks....and now 40....in fact when I was at a different midwife on Wednesday she measured me as 4/5 palpable! Eek, not good. I know I should be spending the day being active but feeling a bit down today that I've reached due date and I have had no signs whatsoever. Always thought I'd go a bit earlier as my mum did with all 4 of hers, I never even considered that induction might be on the cards and I wouldn't be able to have the natural birth I want.

Ellie2elysia · 15/08/2014 19:47

I've been told the babies head doesn't have to be fully engaged to go into labour, a lot of babies don't fully engage until labour starts so keep positive! They say most babies are born between 40 and 41 weeks :)! I do understand that you are fed up though I will most definitely be fed up if he isn't here by my due date but it's very likely he won't be :). The most important thing we have to remember is that they are born healthy and happy :)... Your baby is coming whether it be naturally or by induction and once they are in your arms everything else will be forgotten :)

GingerScouse · 15/08/2014 20:07

heather I'm much the same. Measured 4/5 palpable at both the 38 and 40 week appointments. It got me down on Wednesday as well.

I'm now 40+2 and just trying to remind myself that most babies come before 42 weeks! Doesn't stop me symptom spotting and wondering if every twinge is labour though!

Redling · 15/08/2014 22:33

Well, baby isn't coming on his due date! Been out for a meal and now having a wee glass of Cava :) feeling heavy and have pressure but Inhave also (TMI) been quite constipated today so probably just need a big poo rather than have a baby.

startwig1982 · 16/08/2014 12:11

Had my second sweep today and good news is that I've started dilating-hurrah!Grin
So hopefully it'll be the next couple of days. The lovely midwife was quite rough(I did ask her to be) so I'm really hoping I'll start contracting properly tonight/tomorrow.

stargirl1701 · 16/08/2014 12:20

Good news, wig!

Redling · 16/08/2014 16:04

Good news that you are dilating! I'm still waiting for midwife, she said 'after 2pm' and I know she may well be caught up in something but I hate sitting here! I also have no idea when it's appropriate to text and ask if she's coming because I don't know how late she would come! Argh.

Mmolly2013 · 16/08/2014 16:55

All last night I could feel baby wiggling lower into my pelvis giving me sharp pains had to turn over to try stop it. And today she's doing the same feels like she's pushing down on purpose, this has to be a good sign could this trigger contractions anyone know.

Redling · 16/08/2014 17:31

I'm 1.5cm dilated with a short soft cervix :) baby's head is right there, midwife felt it! No reason why I shouldn't go naturally into labour, but another sweep booked for Tursday morning. It was no worse than a smear test (and I never found that to be painful). I feel so much better now I know what's happening! Now I'm hoping the sweep will encourage a show tonight.

Mmolly I know I felt that kind of screwing down feeling a few nights ago, but I'm afraid I don't know how imminent that makes things, not hugely looking at me, but it's got to be better than nothing!

startwig1982 · 16/08/2014 17:57

Redling I was 2cm this morning and my plug went this afternoon so here's hoping yours does too!! I'm thinking maybe I'll start labour by the end of the weekend but otherwise another sweep on Tuesday.

Redling · 16/08/2014 18:03

It's exciting :) already had a couple of big pains since she left, so hope it's started a bit of prelabour! Going to cook dinner to stay on my feet :)
