Skara · 05/05/2004 22:42

well I have had my first official 'eek is this it?' moment; after 2 children you'd think I'd know the difference between a bit uncomfortable and a few braxton hicks but spent a car journey this evening thinking 'oooo'. Of course it was nothing, but honestly, I am so crap. Imagine getting all excited over nothing
Am v relieved to hear that I am not the only vile mother of the month! What doesn't help is that no1 child has turned from sweet 3yo into vile vile mouthy argumentative teenage brat-fiend 4yo seemingly overnight. Eek.
Secur, I have faith in the dress reappearing...just discovered 2 maternity tops and a shirt hiding in the very depths of the airing cupboard, when I thought they had been thrown out after no2 child. Have had a burst of manic nesting and tidied up various cupboards and drawers and sorted out vast quantities of bedding etc, however am suffering from really sore stomach muscles as a result so think I overdid it.

Lazyeye, the double dose Floradix is a good idea (am hoping you're not going to reply that you're already doing that ) And yes, I am getting crampy pains when I turn over, also hideous and ridiculously obvious Freudian dreams about dropping/killing/forgetting/maiming the baby. And am off to buy dd a personal tape player thingie as we haven't thought of that either - anything rather than be subjected to Spirit or Black Beauty on dvd again...

karen01 · 05/05/2004 23:29

Hi all, I too am getting crampy pains when moving during the night, last night was the worst (hopefully not a sign for the next 6 weeks!!) both hips went funny aswell during the night if anyone had seen me trying to waddle and limo to toilet in middle of noght i think they would have wet themselves!!. my right knee is still twice the soze of my left and has started to really hurt now so off to drs re that tommorrow.
Had m/w yesterday babs is head down and free. I ment to ask her re visit to labour ward etc as i have not been offered that or antenatal classes!!. I am back at hospital at 36weeks think I will mention it then and see if they will let DH and i have look round.

I am getting so excited knowing that he is home soon, and getting closer to seeing and holding babs instead of just been kicked!!.

As for DD she is tireing (sp) me out, we are either out at her taekwondo class (4times week) at her football class (1week) or netball ( 1 week) or playing games in the house. I do get rest when weather is nice and she is out playing inbetween. Shouldn't grumble as she will have to share me soon bless. How will I cope with two aghhh
Take Care all

Secur - hee hee, she posted it on the Due in July thread. She hasn't started a birth announcement though. An amazing story and a wee miracle.

Scared the life out of me too.. I'm 27wks.

karen01 · 06/05/2004 15:55

How scary is that, glad to hear that mother and baby are doing fine.

found out what is wrong with my knee, I have pregnancy induced arthritis (sp!!) joy, can't take anti inflamitries anymore as just hit 34 weeks today. It has just been one thing after another. Mind atleast i haven't been in hospital for past 6 weeks as i had been this stage when carrying DD. Only p more sleeps then DH is home. Saying that he is not in my good books apparantly he has been booked onto a course for June 23rd!! Only a week after my due date and course is back in Cyprus, told him we will discuss!! this when he gets home as i am not happy about it. I have asked him if he can go on the next one but he wants to wait until I have had the 36 week scan.
MEN!!!!

Take care all

Sorry to intrude - just wanted to say i know how you feel about having crap dp/dh's..............Mine has developed this really annoying habit of saying "Oh, you are just going to get bigger and bigger now" and "I've really noticed you popping out alot in the last week or so"

As if i need telling that !!!

scampadoodle · 06/05/2004 17:03

I feel like kicking mine into the spare room - not because he's annoying me particularly (although he snores), just that I find it easier to sleep with the bed to myself.

What do braxton hicks feel like? Over the past few weeks i've sometimes had this tremendous pressure in my pelvis - always when I'm standing or walking. it only lasts a minute or two. I didn't get BH last time. Maybe it's just the head shifting about?

OP posts:
Gomez · 06/05/2004 17:58

Scampadoodle my DH has been in the spare room for weeks and to be honest I am not sure if he will be getting back into what has become MY bed and MY room anytime soon ;0 Only joking - I think.

My right boob has started leaking!!!!!!!!

Right I am off to read about this wee 29 week old babe how exciting!!

monkeygirl · 06/05/2004 21:56

SD - I've been having the exact same pains, especially for the past 2 days when it has made me double up. But it is freaking me out as I don't remember it happening first time round.

Stupid question but dd1 was posterior so all my pain was completely in my back. If baby is the other way round (sorry can't remember what that's called) do you feel the contractions in your tummy or lower down?

Skara · 06/05/2004 22:02

me too on the pains, and like you Monkeygirl my last 2 were posterior and I didn't get that weird feeling. All my labour pain was in my back but this time the placenta is in a different place, so am hoping (as they say that babies like to face their placenta) this time to experience the period pain type labour - has to be better than constant back pain Off to read about the wee new July baby as soon as er finishes...how exciting!

karen01 · 08/05/2004 22:48

Just a quick question, have any off you experienced period like pains in the lower back. I have had them for the last couple of days. babs has moved right down i am sure i can feel a shoulder where bump joins thigh!! (if that makes sense).

i am starting to get paranoid now aswell as a couple of people I have seen recently have been shocked when I have told them due next month as they say you don't look big enough baby must be small!! or maybe i was too big to start with

Sorry I am just waughling on, on my own again this weekend with DD as mam has gone away with the netball girls for a netball weekend at pontins, (wonder how they got on today!!)

A week today then I can see DH haven't seen him since 15th march so it will have been 2 months exactly, I think my hormones are playing up again as i had a good whinge and cry down the phone to him earlier, telling him how he doesn't understand etc... poor bloke is probably dreading coming home to listen to me face to face Well I have to let of steam some how and the way I see it it should be to him he played the other 50% part

Hope everyone is OK.

Skara · 09/05/2004 20:24

Hi Karen, I feel really sorry for you stuck at home alone I'm mega hormonal too and so fed up of being pregnant now...I've been having the same pains, think the baby has engaged as I am really uncomfy and my stomach is getting in the way when I sit down. I thought last night something might be happening as I was so uncomfortable that I had 2 baths and didn't sleep very well all night - beginning to think this one might end up a May baby, either that or by the time I give birth I'll have lost it altogether. This last 4 weeks are going to be the longest, I suspect...

Oh and I've had 'oh my god, that must be a ten pounder!' and 'wow, you're not very big for 35 weeks' in the same afternoon -

Skara · 09/05/2004 20:26

oops, seem to have lost the ability to punctuate due to advanced pregnancy. Sorry for garble!

Gomez · 10/05/2004 11:15

Morning All,

Beautiful day here today and have all my 'baby' washing done and gently drifting in the breeze. At last. DH and I had a 'walk-through' of a typically baby day on Saturday night and had a fit when we realised what we needed to buy. Finger is very much out of bottom now!!

Not long to go Karen - and I am sure your DH is looking forward to being able to cuddle you when upset rather then be on the other end of the phone.

Like everyone else pretty uncomfortable at now and huge, oh so huge! Feet are v. swollen about 1 hour after getting out of bed and resemble trotters by the time I get back in it!!

DH away until Wednesday (boo hiss) but mum & dad coming over tomorrow to help with decorating (yipee)!!

DD had her first ever sleep over with a friend on Saturday and was so excited it was lovely. Didn't go to sleep until 11.45pm however, after being removed from friends bedroom She has also got her 4th Birthday Party in Saturday and please keep you fingers crossed for good weather as it is outside and the alternatives when the weather is poor are pretty dire.

Right off for a wee nap before collecting DD as got about 3 hours sleep last night.

Take care all - and surely somebody must go soon. There is always at least one early bird!!!

monkeygirl · 10/05/2004 11:58

Well we must be getting close if we're all feeling so much more hormonal. I'm back to crying at the most stupid things, usually if dh says one wrong word which I can interprete as criticism. BTW Karen, meant to say if my dh was planning to go a course in June in another country I would just chop his b***ks off now and hang them up for the dogs! Similarly my DH is planning all sorts of things in June - I know I've done it once already but why does he think just a few days at home with me after the birth will be enough this time round? Grrrrr....

My dd had her 3rd birthday party this Sunday (adults only for various reasons this time). I cleaned and sorted for England last week and almost killed myself but it reminded me why cleaning is mostly a waste of time. Yes the flat looked and was the tidiest it has been for years but about 12 hours later it was covered in a fine layer of dirt and dust already. What a waste of time!

I also have an attractive waddle walk now cos the ligaments in one of my bum cheeks and legs have completely gone! How's your SPD Gomez? I also pray that I don't drop the soap in the shower because I'm having difficulty getting down there now. Looks like my legs are going to stay nice and hairy from now on.

Can no-one answer mine and Skara's question about non-posterior labour then?? My friend told me her contractions started in her tummy and would radiate down but is that always the case?

Hope to hear from others soon - I'll start to get excited if people don't post because I will assume something exciting is happening!!

lazyeye · 10/05/2004 12:03

Hi all,

Feeling bit better - eating steak and changed to ferrous gluconate rather than the sulphate which were making me feel so ill.

Anyway, into last 2 weeks at work and finding it hard to get motivated. Would like to be at home sorting stuff out. Done nothing as yet.

Don't expect I'll be the first at all - not due till around 25th so will enjoy hearing about the rest of you first (&May lot). Still get period type/crampy pains mostly at night, but think I got these weeks before my other 2 as well. Now very huge and will do anything to avoid bending down.

How you all doin girls????

cathncait · 10/05/2004 13:40

Hi all
hope everyone is doing well considering most of you sound like you've had enough of being a whale - I know I have! 5 weeks to go. Am feeling excited and would so much rather have this baby out now! Dh is still ok - has some good days and some bad days with his chronic fatigue but I am finding family now are coming to the rescue a bit - even though I do have to ask a lot. (I really wish they would just offer cos they know we are having a tough time). But anyway, at least they always say yes! DD is finally getting a little less clingy to me over the past few weeks which is a real weight of my mind as up till now she has really lost it when I have left her - even with her dad! Now she seems to enjoy other peoples company too - whew. I forget who is due first now? Can anyone refresh me of their dates - its sooooo close now. I'm really looking forward to hearing about everyones beautiful new babies and their fantasically easy births! Good luck everyone!

eek Secur, glad you and db are ok!

Am offically most hormonal, psychotic, demon mother on the planet. Can't string a sentence together, can't find a comfy position to sit in, hate everything, spend last night ranting at dh because he exists, am just vile. Don't even like myself

Due date is 7th June...can't come soon enough. Must rush as have to collect little person from preschool then into town to get some Floradix as I feel suddenly washed out and feeble, 3 days after refusing a blood test with the midwife (oops).
