June people! we are hopeless! Even the April lot manage to post now & again... (though they are probably on mat. leave by now) Do you realise no one has posted on the old thread for nearly a week?!

Hi scampadoodle had noticed that out of all the threads we seem to be the quietest.

Hope everyone is ok

Lesley76 · 01/04/2004 20:23

I would like to point out, on behalf of "even the April lot", that we have posted over 100 messages in the last 4 days. So there!!!!

Although as you will see, most of them are complete drivel.....especially mine...........

Cavy · 01/04/2004 21:34

HI everyone -- funny thread name. I will try to post more and maybe not moan too much...
I saw midwife today and everything looks good. She thinks the baby is head up but says it's a bit early to palpitate (?spelling?) or worry about breech. I know it's a good thing and all, but this baby never stops moving! I can run down the road to catch my 2yo from running away, and the moment I stop the baby is kicking as if to say "Not so much shaking me about, thanks very much!" I thought they were supposed to go asleep with activity, and keep me awake at night, though thankfully the baba doesn't ever keep me awake.
I think the warmer weather is doing me good, I feel less tired, anyway.
Does anyone else have less heartburn as pregnancy goes on, too? I think it's because I am eating so much nowadays...
Speaking of which, i just remembered a cream egg hiding in the cupboard.

cathncait · 02/04/2004 04:13

Ok Ok, I also feel obliged to post now too! The baby is doing great, my 19 month old is whining all day long (lucky shes cute!), and my tummy is getting really sore in one spot. So much so taht I have to lay down to ease the pain - makes picking up dd very difficult. Am going to my gp monday to check it out. I had a similar thing with first pregnancy but not until nearly 6 weeks later. I really hope this doesn't last till I have this kid! The midwives thought it was a 'protuding elbow' or something last time - we'll see what they say this time! Man I hope they can fix it! anyway, enough whinging (now you know where dd gets it).

lazyeye · 02/04/2004 09:38

We are pretty hopeless aren't we!!

I'm still here. 28 weeks tomorrow, bit behind you lot. I'm supposed to be working till towards end of May, but very tired now - more to do with running after 2 toddlers than the pg I think.

Starting to get hard to put socks on/tie laces etc.

Bit like some others I haven't been posting cos I feel a bit down about things and hate to moan moan moan, but am trying to be more positive....nearly Easter, have a holiday in the Lakes just after so bit of help with the kiddies etc.

Hope ye are all well....wonder how will be first? Be great to hear..

Gomez · 02/04/2004 11:51

Oops - we are seriously rubbish aren't we! Right I am now off work (sick leave) with my dodgy pelvis, looking v. attractive with my support belt and crutches. Got a call this morning to say I my HB is 9 - so now anaemic. Baby bunting is right down in my pelivs too (although no idea if feet, bum or head) so permanently feel like I am needing to poo - which will be fun when my iron tablets kick in. Only 9 weeks to go thou.......

Still got no pram, car seat, crib, etc. nursery a DIY building site, have ordered nappies but not yet arrived so not at all organised either. And got a wedding next Saturday which I am so looking forward too - not!

Finding out that day-time TV is now rubbish - much better first time around with Maternity Hospital and the 'original' Bargain Hunt - was the final nail in the coffin, forcing me to eat lots of Hot Cross Buns!

Right I am off for a nap, a hobble around Sainsburys and then collect DD.

Take care all

monkeygirl · 02/04/2004 12:43

Ha, what a great thread name - yes we have been pretty crap but it's nice to hear how everyone is doing. In my defence I have had big big problems accessing certain sites for over a week on ntl (this obviously being one of them). I have been fiddling with my browser settings, which has been scary as I am not a techie head but whatever I've just done is working for the moment at least.

Anyway, this has lifted my mood today (or maybe it's the weather). I'm assuming that I don't have diabetes as have not heard from the hospital, although as usual by mw has failed to contact me to arrange my 30 weeks check, which I am now. I've also been waking up about 10 times a night so am usually knackered. I've been a bad mum cos I've just been plunking dd1 in front of the tv for ages while I try and rest. My pelvis is also quite sore (although not as bad as poor old you sound Gomez) but I have this odd pain where I feel like I've been riding a bike with no saddle for several hours - what's that about??

Now that I've got all that off my chest I can also confess to my other posting name, just in case you were wondering who the hell I was (I was Anna1) which I think I will now use for a while.

Gomez - I have done nothing to prepare for new baby so I am also panicing a wee bit. And I haven't even got a good excuse. Aaargh.

Hopefully my isp and browser will now behave and I'll be able to keep in touch.

Take care all.

lol! i was just wondering where everyone was!

29+4 now. all going ok so far. have really fat swollen ankles at the moment though

Also have tendonitis in my left wrist. doc has referred me for physio. & get this - told me to rest it! Ihtink that was his idea of an april fool when I have a toddler to chase after!

Waiting for a scan date for 34 week scan. then if palcenta has moved it's all systems go for a homebirth.

hope eveyone else is doing ok

Bogwoppit

Bogwoppit · 02/04/2004 13:13

meant to add - saw m/w last week - baby was head down 5/5 but back to back.

so sat like john wayne at the mo! - finding lying on my left side really hard - so used to always lying on the right!

Skara · 02/04/2004 19:33

we are a bit rubbish aren't we! Ok, well...I'm 30 and a bit weeks now, saw midwife this week and the baby is head down and going to be a good size (around the 9 or 10lb mark) according to her estimate. Last one was over 9lb so that's not a huge surprise, and he came out ok so hopefully this will too. I have to organise a birth pool at some point but I can't seem to get motivated cos I'm in denial! I'm too tired to think about having another one when we're dealing with a house move at the same time

monkeygirl · 02/04/2004 22:56

I'm so excited that I can still log into this site that I'm going to post again today (and there's naff all on tv). I really want to find out what position my baby is in now that I've heard about some of yours.

Excuse my ignorance Bogwoppit but what does 5/5 mean?

Don't know how you could move house Skara at this time. We want to move as well but are not brave enough to even think about it properly until after the birth. Hope you're not stressing out too much about it.

I had a huge plate of sausage and chips for tea tonight - somebody stop me now please before I really do explode (my bump has really grown noticeably over the past 2 days).

Take care.

Skara · 03/04/2004 22:47

hi Monkeygirl, I'm an old hand at moving when pregnant - did it last time too, 2 weeks before my due date! I think I just get a super-nesting instinct which manifests itself in the need to move house As to stopping you eating, I am definitely not the right person to ask - have put on SO much weight AGAIN after swearing this was going to be my glamourous, slim pregnancy. Instead I look like a horse and a fat one at that!

karen01 · 04/04/2004 00:08

Hi everyone, glad everything is ok with all. Has anyone else started to count down now, I am. I am also really excited and hope it goes quickly. As the quicker the next 10wks go the sooner Iget to see DH, as it doesn't look like he is going to get home before June, he is still trying though.!!

I have got everything I need now for the baby ( I think!!) the only two bits I want/need! now are the boucer and play mat, but don't need them straight away anyway. Pram and moses basket etc are taking up the spare space in my mams garage.

I have also been on anti biotics for the past week for a chest and throat infection, now have really bad pain in my ribs when I cough they feel so bruised, even to the touch, the baby isn't that high up already surely!! Mind you scan last week stated babs was breech with legs extended!!

Anyway take care all and keep in touch.

Cavy · 04/04/2004 08:10

I don't know what 5/5 means, either.
I'm would count down, but it still seems a long long time to go! Actually, I am suddenly feeling so much better. I think this happened my last pregnancy. 1st & 2nd trimesters were awful and then suddenly, I felt quite good. I am still emotional now, but not so easily upset by everything.

I'm not joking when I say this baby kicks a lot and HARD -- I mean, he pounds away in there! I am afraid strangers are going to start saying things about my clothes jumping around on my tummy.

It crossed my mind to try to sort out some baby clothes and stuff the other day... but I'm not ready to face it. Maybe because I don't want to think about how much childbirth hurts yet, either.

Skara · 04/04/2004 22:13

Cavy that sounds just like me! Just can't face the thought of the ow factor. Last time I wandered around the house for ages when in labour - home birth - saying 'ooh, I think I want an elective caesarian, it's going to hurt...' And we must be having similar pregnancies cos I am having huge kicks too - really big clonks and thuds! In fact typing this seems to have inspired some more furniture moving in there

monkeygirl · 05/04/2004 10:53

I've got quite a mover as well but he seems to like doing a jig on my nether regions - hope this doesn't mean he's breech but that it's his hands and fingers waving...

That's great that you're feeling better Cavy. I am as well most of the time so must be something in the air.

After my brief panic we bought a bigger chest of drawers on Saturday and I made dh go up into the attic on Sunday to get the old baby stuff down. Haven't done anything with it but we are surrounded by stuff which does make it a bit more real.

I've just realised how big my Britax pram (part of 2-1 system) is in comparison to my small neat Maclaren and for the sake of space and buggyboards would like to buy something like a Maclaren Quest. Has anyone had good success selling things on ebay? Anyone else buying new stuff when they really shouldn't be and have no real money to spare (yes I am looking for someone to justify my intended actions!)

lazyeye · 05/04/2004 13:54

Hi'yall

Should maybe post this one on the Childbirth thread, but here goes:

Starting to think a little bout the birth now. With DS1 they gave me some sort of pill to "dry me up" - basically so I didn't get sick or wee/poo during birth & I didn't. With ds2 they didn't give me anything and I was very sick and had lots of poos (sorry folks). I felt so sick that I'd prefer to have the wee pill......anyone else had this or have any idea what the norm is?

Cheers girls & hope you are all well

Bogwoppit · 05/04/2004 14:49

5/5 - is the relation of head (or presenting part) to the rbim of plevis. more engaged the lower number. so 5/5 means baby is just resting at the top. 1/5 woul mean pretty much fully engaged.

baby is so wriggly now - I can't believe only 10 weeks to go. I remmeber counting down the 1st 10 weeks to get past teh point I lost my las tone.

I am off to a wedding on Sat - got a lovely dress from debenhams maternity. just need a nice bra now - one that holds everything up but that isn't granny style!

hope everyone else is doin gok

scampadoodle · 05/04/2004 17:30

Sorry guys, after moaning I then fall silent... Can only access m'net 3 days a week, at work, & on friday I summoned by the nursery to remove ds as he had a rash (nothing sinister, as it turned out) so had to leave work despite only having been there an hour!
I am okay, though sufferinbg a bit from depression (a chronic prblem with me, unfortunately). Feeling a bit worried as to how I'll cope with 2... but I'm not about to throw myself under a bus just yet.
The baby is moving like I don't know what. I'm 31 +2: perhaps it's running out of room? Am like a galleon in full sail - all prow, luckily. (The prow is the bit at the front of a ship, isn't it? Looks funny written down).
I am writing complete gibberish... just as well I have only 4 & a bit weeks to go at work...

Gomez · 05/04/2004 21:04

Hello Ladies,

Nice to hear from everybody and to know that we are all basically keeping well - with varying degrees of p**ed-offness (okay made up word but I can't think of a proper one). Chin-up girls home stretch aheah!

Currently writing 3000 word essay for Thursday (and got another due for next week) so trying to be disciplined and stay away as much as poss!

I am off to a wedding on Saturday too and not much looking forward to it. Except DD is a flower girl and is so excited that I can't wait to see her looking gorgeous.

Eventually bought pram at the weekend - Jane Powertrack 360 so keep on wanting to stroke it and walk about the house playing. Sad or what! (Yip we do have it in the house so no old wives tales please, had enough of that from my mum today!)

Right programme starting on BBC1 so off to cuddle on sofa and watch it with DH - the closest we get at the moment as we are sleeping in seperate beds!

Take care all,

monkeygirl · 05/04/2004 21:51

Lazyeye - I have never heard about this pill you took to dry you up - sorry not much help except that I've never heard anyone else even mention it nor have I ever read anything about it. Was it mainly cos you felt very sick? But I do know lots of people who poo (sorry if TMI) so maybe that is more the norm sadly (well any dignity you have is left at the hospital gates anyway but who cares when all you want to do is get the baby out and the pain to stop). If there's no danger in taking the pill then what's the harm in it - or does it carry the same risk as other pain relief? But that is a small risk anyway. I went for an epidural first time round and I reckon it was the best thing I could have done.

Sorry you're still feeling blue Scampadoodle. I know you say you have an ongoing problem but I'm sure it's natural for most 2nd (& 3rd etc) timers to worry about how they will cope. I've gone through all the possible problems and am not coming up with solutions and my dd1 has become very clingy since we got the baby stuff down from the attic. I'm hoping that as with a lot of things the anticipation is worse than the actual event when you just will cope and find ways around any problems. Well we'll soon know I guess...

Oh well back to the programme on intersex (yet another thing to worry about now despite it being rare). What with that and the programme on toxicities in breast milk tonight it's enough to put me off reproducing ever ever again.

karen01 · 06/04/2004 22:00

Hi all, glad to see we are starting to post ,ore again. I also have my pram etc in the house (well garage).
DH confirmed that he will not be home next week he has said he is going to try and get home beginning of May for a long weekend, but i am not going to get my hopes up as can't handle having them bashed down at the moment.!! seen m/w this afternoon everything is fine my BP has dropped which is good. We were talking re babies current position and she informed me as he his breech and legs down if he stays like this it is harder for him to turn, so will end up with a sunroof delivery again!! Heres hoping that he turns soon before he runs out of space, I know there is plenty of time but..... I suppose i am just preparing myself as DD stayed in the same position from 28wks just changed sides.

Anyway must go sorry for wittering on getting lonely!!! take care all.

Gomez · 06/04/2004 22:05

Oh Karen don't be lonely - it must be so hard on your own at the mo!

Know how you feel about the breech thing DD was extended leg breech and such a fatty I am sure was wedged there from conception!! So convinced this one will be wrong way around too - however there is nothing to suggest this. I am carrying really low and there is defo something in my pelvis just don't know what bit! All feels very different from first time around.

Take care

monkeygirl · 07/04/2004 11:58

Karen I feel for you - I feel miffed when dh goes off for work for a night or 2. I know it's not the same but do you have a 'support network' around you? There was also a report on the news about how eating some chocolate a day produces a happier baby and I know it makes me happier as well so eat away (a poor substitute maybe but better than nothing)!

My mw came today and refused to tell me what position the baby was in because she said there was plenty of time and room for him to move yet. If it's true for me it must be for all of you as well so take heart - the babes could turn yet. But I know what you mean Gomez - sometimes I fell that the baby is so low he's going to drop out in the middle of Tescos or somewhere equally convenient.

I had to buy another bottle of Gaviscon yesterday - I'm worried that I'm actually enjoying drinking the peppermint liquid cos it certainly doesn't actually seem to be doing much good. Oh well I could have worse problems I know but heartburn really bloody hurts sometimes doesn't it?
