Aw Pip, that is such good news, I'm happy for you, I still have the nagging feeling that something will happen but then if it survives I guess I will be worrying for, oh, pretty much the rest of my life

All my friends seem to have been having babies over the last few years that I've been having MCs, I know they're not sure how to treat me, most of the time I just say, oh let me have a cuddle of him, I don't want them treating me like I'm fragile

My clothes are shrinking already

Pipbin · 16/12/2014 20:39

Lentil. I was convinced there was nothing there before my first scan and I was sure that it had died before this one.

Pixie001 · 16/12/2014 21:18

Pip I'm so pleased to hear that all went well today. I checked in earlier to see the news but didn't have time to post. It must be a massive weight off your mind to know about the growth spurt.
Lentil I have a pair of snug trousers that I wore today and they were so tight and uncomfortable I had to go around with them undone and my top pulled over them! I've not put any weight on so I guess it can only be a change of shape but I'm so surprised that's the case only 5 wks in!
Pip/bushy so did you tell your gp or will the first they know be from the clinic? I'm a bit confused as to whether I should be giving them a heads up or just wait til after the early scan.
My boss knows about our ivf and outcome and already today started talking about mat leave cover! Shock I told her it was a bit early for all that yet but she said she's thinking positive for us.
Bushy I hope the meds get you fixed quickly and RP I guess you're lining up for all sorts of wierd feelings the next few weeks!

thelentil · 16/12/2014 21:31

Pixie I had to call GP to make the midwife appt, they don't have anything until Jan though, by which time I'll be 10 or 11 weeks

Pipbin · 16/12/2014 21:34

I went to the gp not long after I found out as I wanted the flu jab.
I booked my booking in appointment then.

RevoltingPeasant · 16/12/2014 21:52

Bushy it really is! When I was walking home from work tonight I had a feeling of what I can only describe as bearing down. I wondered if it was the head engaging and had one of those oh-shit-I'm-going-into-prem-labour moments but it eased off.

I am wondering if he is just quite a long baby as his feet still seem to be firmly under ribs on the right but something is putting pressure on cervix. I wouldn't be surprised if that was happening at 39 w but 33?? Gulp Confused

Pipbin · 16/12/2014 22:22

That sounds scary RP.
DP is finding the whole idea of being pregnant and having something living inside you rather odd. After you said that I'm inclined to agree with him.

greatbigbushybeard · 16/12/2014 22:41

It is odd!!

Lovely that your boss is so supportive pixie but I would find talk of maternity leave a bit disconcerting as I'm just taking it a day at a time. My pg app said to spend time each day quietly thinking of your baby and your hopes and aspirations for it to start early attachment... I am either a bit cynical/ jaded/ wary as I just think I don't want to get too attached just in case, must be the mmc talking.

Ooh rp that sounds weird!!

Pixie001 · 17/12/2014 19:15

Bushy I totally agree with you on the mat leave discussion! Told her i wasnt at the point of considering backfill given what there is still to go but she said it would take months to put the plans in place so wanted me to mull it over. Well whatever, I'm not gonna get ahead of myself even if she is.
Can understand your misgivings Bushy on feeling the attachment but at the same time you have had a healthy early scan and I'm applying the attitude that I need to enjoy every day based on "today I'm pregnant". Don't know if you can apply that but just don't want your previous experience to totally ruin this pregnancy because of the doubt and worry.

Week tomorrow berries....Xmas Grin

RevoltingPeasant · 17/12/2014 23:01

Pixie exciting! How far along will you be then?

I have had first milk - colostrum - coming thru for ages now but it is getting more and more. I keep doing it as my evening party trick for DH who is slightly grossed out and slightly fascinated. As I told him, "you can't make orange stuff come out of your nipples!"

thelentil · 18/12/2014 09:31

Wow, colostrum at 33 weeks! Jeepers, I'm glad I read it here first, did you know that would happen?

I put off telling the clinic because I wanted to enjoy the today I am pregnant thing a bit longer, was so convinced they were going to tell me it wasn't viable. Again.

RevoltingPeasant · 18/12/2014 14:51

Lentil it first happened about 24w and has been on and off since then!

Had my scan this morning and dino's kidneys are both normal now, so all healthy! Also..... They now think he's a girl!!! I have been calling him - or her - by the boy's name we had picked out following the 20w scan. It's a bit odd to get your head around.

I guess we'll find out for sure in 6.5 weeks' time Shock

ladybunnikins · 18/12/2014 16:01

That's great news on the scan RP but yes, must be weird having to change from boy to girl in your head, at least now you have time to get used to the idea. No wonder that last sonographer couldn't see testes!

24 weeks for colostrum? I'm 23.5 weeks, let the boob squeezing commence!

ladybunnikins · 18/12/2014 16:10

The list already needs updating since Otters has just got a BFP!

sparechange · 18/12/2014 17:19

Damn, too late for the list update!

I couldn't stand the wait until tomorrow for the scan, so moved it to today.
We saw and heard a heartbeat!

It is measuring 5 days small at the moment, so they've suggested coming back for another scan at the start of Jan when I'll be 10 weeks, just so they can check before the clinic signs me over to the NHS, but otherwise all good. Current EDD is 6th August, but they said that might come forward a week.
It is weird. I thought seeing the scan would make it all sink in a bit more, but it hasn't yet! When, wise berries, will I get my head around the fact that I'm actually having a baby?

ladybunnikins · 18/12/2014 17:37

I still find it weird telling people I'm pregnant, it feels more real now that there's movement and a visible bump but I still don't feel like there will be a real-life baby at the end of this!

Pipbin · 18/12/2014 18:34

Just to update stats my EDD is 24th July.

Great news on the scan Spare.

chloechloe · 18/12/2014 19:38

spare pib and rp Great news all round for your scans!

You might be waiting a while to get your head round it spare! It still hasn't really hit me yet, even though I can actually see my stomach moving as I type! I swear there's some kind of alien octopus in there.

rp Not sure how I would feel about a sudden change of sex! Must be weird when you've been calling him by his name!

I've started to get pretty uncomfortable pains recently, hopefully it's just when the baby is in a stupid position. There are times when I have to sit up competely straight to stop my abdomen hurting. Anyone else get this?

FeatherFeather11 · 18/12/2014 19:39

Gosh! So much to catch up on! Sorry I've been a bad Berrie recently - just in my last full week at work and wrapping up before hols/mat leave - can't believe it!

rp FANTASTIC news re dino's kidneys! Hoorah!! And a girl!! Must be strange to have got your head all prepped for a boy only to be told otherwise, but I bet you're thrilled anyway.

spare also great news about your scan! As I think I've said to you before, pay no mind to edd as they are moveable and 5 days, in the big scheme of things isn't much. Are you feeling better now?

pip excellent news on the growth spurt!! Yes! How are you feeling about everything now?

bushy hope you make a swift recovery. Poor you, how horrible!

otters CONGRATS!!! Grin come join us when you're ready!

lady, pixie, aquarius, chloe, win - how are you all? Thanks for the list lady getting crowded in here and my brain's not what it used to be so brill to have it to hand. So happy the chopper has lots of us in here now. Grin

I finally had my 31w gp appointment today at 33weeks. Everything is seemingly fine. Baby's head is engaged and she's the right size and her heartbeat is booming and she's kicking the hell out of me! On the downside, I have awful thrush but the doc has given me a pessary to put in tonight and some cream. Tried all the natural stuff to no avail so I'm hitting the Canestan. Hmm also, I had the whooping cough jab today and it hurt like hell. Ouch! My arm feels like it's about to drop off.

NCT class has been ace - such a lovely bunch of people. It's all becoming very real now and I've only just begun to feel like this may actually happen and be ok. - I don't think the worry or disbelief ever goes, but as others have said, the later you get, the more you accept that it's happening. I'm actually getting excited now.

rp just squeezed my boons to see if there was any colostrum and nothing yet!

FeatherFeather11 · 18/12/2014 19:42

chloe yes - I've been getting those pains. Gp said it's all to do with baby's head engaging. Had such bad period-like pain the other day I freaked and called triage thinking I was going into labour, but baby feather was just head butting my cervix!

Pixie001 · 18/12/2014 21:40

Wow, a little freaked by news of the more cooked berries on here...RP..had no idea colostrum was so early. And orange???? Feather... thrush and headbutting cervix...such lovely thoughts. Pleased to hear it's all progressing to plan.
Spare good news on the scan. How amazing it must have been to hear the heartbeat. Let's hope for a growth spurt like pip.
Rp what good news on the kidneys. If it's a girl does that mean you have the wrong type of clothes/decorated the nursery wrong? Or does it not have much of an impact?
Bushy are the drugs sorting you out? How you feeling?
Can a fellow ivf-er help me on my dates pls...? EC was mon 29th Nov. Do I add 2 wks from then? If so am i 5 weeks and 3 days? And is that then written 5+3? Sorry, I feel like a proper junior on here..! Just waiting till the early scan on the 29th feels like forever. Let alone getting to the point of some of you!

Pipbin · 18/12/2014 21:44

Pixie. Google IVF due date calculator. The dates are accurate and my clinic agreed with them.

Pipbin · 18/12/2014 21:46

And RP. So glad to hear your news.
So odd with the change of sex! How odd.

Aquarius1 · 18/12/2014 22:52

Hello all! Can I tentatively mark a place on here? I just got a bfp at the w/e after ttc 2 yrs 8 mths & one failed ivf. Think I am 5 wks 3 days - so the same as Pixie if your calculations are right Pixie? I haven't posted on MN for aaaages but have kept in touch with some berries. As I became a berry back in the dark ages (2012) I wanted to join the Copter (can't believe I can actually say that!) Great to see how many graduated Berries there are & that I'll not be alone in the Copter too.
