Red super news about your scan! :) What a relief... and at 13 weeks you've passed the 1st trimester milestone so risk drops significantly.

Ugh. 19 weeks, 1/2 way through.
How does my body decide to celebrate?
WOOHOO OH HAI AGAIN MORNING SICKNESS! I MISSED YOUUU! NOT

At first I was scared it was a tummy bug as had a loose stool yesterday. Nope. Looks like the bod objects to greasy food (no fever etc') or no food from one end or t'other. Oat cakes it is then.

CallingAllEngels · 18/04/2014 20:42

Hello ladies, I got a very faint bfp yesterday. Early days. 2mc - one before I got pg with ds in 2010 and one in october 2013. I started on the June thread with you baking.

Have just signed in on the Dec and Dec after mc threads (edd 28th Dec) but thought it would be good to have some extra support (have read a lot of the ttc after mc and rmc threads but never plucked uptbe courage to join).

Both my mc were at about 6w, so am wishing the next few weeks would fly by.

squizita · 18/04/2014 20:51

Hi Calling! Congratulations! :) Sending good vibes for the next few weeks, always nerve wracking till you get past the date of your latest loss.

Although it's cold comfort at the time, IMO it bodes well that your losses had DS in between (i.e. unlikely you've got one of the things that make the fateful 3-in-a-row) so FX everything goes smoothly this time. :) :) :)

squizita · 18/04/2014 20:52

PS. Avocado and oat cakes. At the moment FOOD OF THE GODS. :)

CallingAllEngels · 18/04/2014 20:53

Thanks for the welcome squizita - I recognise your name from reading the rmc threads.

Keeping everything crossed!

LondonJen · 18/04/2014 21:18

Hi Red I second Squiz what a great milestone and a big PHEW on your behalf! I am so pleased to hear you got to enjoy your scan in the end after the initial fear. I spent most of mine gawking at the screen in stunned silence I must admit! Wishing you a very uneventful rest of pregnancy.

Oh Squiz not good. Although, you were feeling inbetweeny so maybe it's comforting. I feel ever so normal today it is quite a freaky thing. Trying hard to appreciate it. Does this mean your next scan will be a gener reveal then or do you want a surprise?

Congratulations Calling! You will find lots of support here. I wish you a sticky bean and a quiet, boring pregnancy.

squizita · 18/04/2014 21:42

Yep, we're finding out gender. Easier to plan names and so on! :)

bakingtins · 18/04/2014 22:50

engels ! Lovely to see you back! I really hope it goes well for you this time.

red welcome and congratulations on reaching 2nd trimester, hopefully you can relax a bit now.

LondonJen · 19/04/2014 11:14

SO exciting Squiz. My dp is all talk about not wanting to know. I really hope it is all talk because I want to find out! I think it will help me bond with baby. He says he's happy for me to know as long as I don't tell him but I don't know if that's really feasible. Am hoping he will just change his mind in the next few weeks! Ooo my asos delivery has arrived...

squizita · 19/04/2014 11:41

London After the scan Weds my treat is an online shopping binge. ASOS here I come!

In terms of the gender scan. DH is very vocal about his (rather naive) belief that girls are naturally sensible nice children and boys like to fight and play up and school (or are like Martin from The Simpsons and suck up to authority).
ENTIRELY based on him and his sister.
I have informed him that he is being a silly boy, and reminded him of my (mostly female) family and some of the nightmare girls therein.
But if the scan shows a willy, I may have to reassure him of his parenting skills somewhat!! He'll be fine! He wasn't even that naughty from what I can gather... just his sister was angelic.

LondonJen · 19/04/2014 13:30

Excellent shopping plans Squiz. I am quite jealous.

Note to self, if you buy early due to discounts, don't forget you will look like you are wearing a tent! Bit disappointing. But got 28 days to return so will try on again in 3 weeks.

I like the logic of your dp Squiz, bless him tho! I think I was more naughty than my brother but maybe just cos I was older I would get him into trouble he he! I think my dp might think along similar lines to yours. He was so shocked one time when a cute little 4 yr old girl, all in pink, holidng a doll, trumped whilst sitting on his knee! I had to tell him off for being so prudish because I knew if it was a boy he would've felt diff and prob just laughed.

Penguinita · 19/04/2014 14:51

Welcome red and engels, fabulous to see you here! Hoping the next few weeks to the magic 12 week scan fly by for you.

I can kind of understand where your DP is coming from squiz, you can only go on what you know , and coming from a household of girls I find it very hard to imagine having a boy. My mum stereotypes babies on their names ("all xxx's are wet blankets" "all xxx's are naughty"). But we will probably all be in for some surprises whatever!

Oh how my Saturday clothes shopping trips have changed Sad. It used to be sparkly going out tops, sexy lingerie and silk camisoles. Today, I bought a long dark men's t shirt for labour, huge over tummy granny pants and a button down floral cotton nightie for breast feeding. Ain't pregnancy glamorous? Grin

Penguinita · 19/04/2014 14:52

Oops sorry red, you've already had your scan! congratulations!

fedupofrainydays · 19/04/2014 17:03

I have a little boy and he is fab (I would say that tho). So much fun and always always happy. Not quite at the really naughty stage but we shall see if it appears. Definately less moody and stroppy than some of my nieces and friends little girls so I don't think it is gender based at all - just individuals and personality!!

We aren't finding out (if I get that far) if boy or girl as We don't care which and really enjoy the surprise!! Names are difficult whatever and I used my two fave boy names for my son!! Got one girl and one boy name I like at the mo - and DH does too so let's see how they change and develop over the next few months! I've totally gone off my first choice girl name for when I was expecting DS (but didn't know was boy) so it's strange how things change!

Welcome red and engels

I too went shopping today penguin and bought some bigger pants and Mat leggings. Nice. Walked past all the pretty dresses in the window of shops I would usually be in - preg is def not glam unless you have the budget of a film star!!

fedupofrainydays · 19/04/2014 17:12

Ps. My tiredness and nausea is back with a venegenace after my work marathon on thurs and busy day yesterday out and about. baking I don't work shift work, I'm in consulting and we always end up with end of project hell! Was managing this one well until one of my team had some personal issues and I had to pick up all his side of the work as well as mine. I've still got stuff to do this weekend but only bout an hour. Sucks when you only work and get paid 3 days a week. They want me to be more senior than I am but I already struggle 3 days managing a temperamental team and client so am resisting or I will end up doing 5 days work but only getting paid for 3. It's always when preg I wish I had a job that didn't require brain power or managing others!!

Mat leave countdown is on!!

CallingAllEngels · 19/04/2014 18:31

I will eventually get down my maternity clothes from the loft, but right now it seems like tempting fate!

I'm a BM at my best friend's wedding at the beginning of October. Will be 29 weeks so fx fine to travel (last time I wentto UK wedding at 34 weeks). She has known that we are ttc since last year and we already have the dresses which should work with a bump.

Part of me wishes I wasn't a BM so I could wear my beautiful Tiffany Rose lace maternity dress (we got married when I was 7 months pg). I was browsing their website last night and wondered if I could justify a £99 dress or two for the 3 months I'm going to have to work at the beginning of the school year!

Getting ahead of myself again!

fedupofrainydays · 19/04/2014 20:05

I'm supposed to be going to a wedding on Canada when am 35 weeks. I think we are cancelling my ticket as it's a bit too risky that late in preg. I prob would dare if this was my first preg and hadn't had two mcs and would also be scared of having it out there and not being able to get back to my son quickly (he's not coming with us) and then rock up with an imposter!

Penguinita · 19/04/2014 22:21

fedup that is a shame you have to cancel your Canada trip but at 35 weeks I think it is wise. I'm nervous just about a day trip to london at 35+3! 29 weeks should be fine though I think engels.

And big yes to the mat leave countdown. I have 2 weeks to go, but with said London trip (bit of a jolly) and bank hol on Monday that is only 8 days in the office, whoop whoop Grin

JBrd · 19/04/2014 22:35

Fedup - I think that at 35 weeks, some airlines wouldn't let you fly anymore anyway, especially long haul. I think it's a wise decision, can you imagine how uncomfortable it'll be

Hello everyone, hope you're having a nice Easter so far... Despite all that's happened last week, I has a nice day yesterday and today. I still don't know what I'm going to do regarding the invasive procedure. Tried to call the hospital today, but the phone went straight to what sounded like a fax machine, no luck. Need to find out my options with them - how soon they could see me, how long the results would take etc. etc.
I'm also not sure about which procedure to to - currently leaning towards amnio, but this would mean a longer wait. But supposedly lower risk than CVS.
And there is that question about what to do if they do find something...Confused

bakingtins · 20/04/2014 07:17

I have 2 more shifts and 2 night duties to do before mat leave. Can tell you how many hours that is if you like!

jbrd glad you are having a good weekend. It must be difficult with decisions hanging over you. I hope you have chance to discuss it all with them before deciding which to go for.

Happy Easter everyone! Easter Smile

kjh5 · 20/04/2014 07:45

Morning ladies! And a happy Easter!

I just wanted to login and let you know baby Logan arrived yesterday morning after a 72 hour labour weighing a very respectable 3.3 kg :) we are literally over the moon with our precious little baby boy! I definitely wouldn't have been able to get through this prenancy with my sanity relatively intact so I just wanted to say thank you to all you wonderful mums for your kind supportive words and making me laugh (and cry) over the past nine months.

Hang in there all of you! You'll get through all the hard bits and you will all be holding your little bubbas sooner than you think! Today you are pregnant!

Penguinita · 20/04/2014 08:10

Hooray kjh and Logan! Congratulations!

72 hours? Phew, you must be knackered!

squizita · 20/04/2014 10:23

Kj congratulations! :) So pleased for you and little Logan!

LondonJen · 20/04/2014 12:51

Kjh you lovely lady, that's awesome! Congratulations! I hope you are enjoying glorious snuggles. Love the name btw might have to steal it
You have been such a support to me, I am so happy that your baby has arrived safe and well. Take care of your little family xx

Baking and Penguin lol at your countdowns!

Jbrd I hope you can get all the information to help make up your mind. Very pleased you had a good day yesterday.

All I know about travelling when pg is that it makes me feel queasy. I dread to think what I'll be like when I am big and hefty. Think I will be a home bird!

My friend has asked if want to buy the pram she's selling! I do! Probably. But we're not quite 16 weeks yet.. Scary to think of having it so soon. It's an icandy peach so have read good things about it. Might have to be very brave and go for it then hide it in the cupboard under the stairs and pretend it's not there or something!!?

JBrd · 20/04/2014 13:24

Congratulations, kjh5, and a warm welcome to the world for baby Logan ThanksThanksThanksThanks
Well done you! Hope you are recovering well and getting lots of newborn cuddles.

London - I'd say buy the pram... We got a second-hand bugaboo from BIL/SIL (who also got it secondhand off eBay), and it has been the best bargain ever. Prams are so expensive, and you want a good one. Get it, hide it away, nothing wrong with that.

Well, after a useless trip it IKEA (closed today Angry), we just had a little Easter Egg hunt for DS, who is not feeling great today. So I reckon we'll have a quiet afternoon with TV, books and cuddles on the sofa. Suits me perfectly (if I can get DS to watch something other than Thomas The Tank Engine Confused)
