Pregnancy insomnia can be useful! I planned an awesome Harry Potter party, complete with treasure hunt in rhyming couplets, in first few weeks, mainly at 3am.

Aoifebelle · 08/02/2014 08:02

I suspect you are a nicer person than me. I was mostly thinking how best to humiliate the bosses. Feeling very dozy now.

JBrd · 08/02/2014 08:08

I've also been waking up lots during the last few nights, which is very unlike me. Oh wait - could this be a symptom?! Smile
Just built an awesome train track for DS (if I may say so myself), now thinking I would love another coffee... I drink decaf now during the week, then allow myself one proper one at the weekend. And always wish I could have two!

squizita · 08/02/2014 10:20

London I got headaches from the hormones rising! So it could be that. Also because I suddenly cut out coffee.

I'm going to bed at 8pm at the moment. I wake up a few times (to wee) but then go back.

And my MS doesn't seem to have gone so much as got stealthy. Instead of gentle nausea it's like 'feel ok... la de da... ohh wait what's that? ...Bye lunch!' Confused Going out for dinner with friends tonight. We shall see...

LondonJen · 08/02/2014 10:40

Saggy, good point, I never thought of that. I think I have been having enough but poss not as was just losing a cold when I got pregnant so prob need a bit more. Very early I started needing more tissues all of a sudden and that made me think ooh I wonder if my immunity hasgone down because body is trying to accept a pregnancy?! ;)

Squiz that's so typical it could be horomes going up or down then! Please go up just nicely lovely hormones, I need this to work...

I don't like coffee or fizzy drinks (yes I am a robot!) I have cut down my normal tea consumption but replaced half with decaff tea or hot ribena.

No pain today so happy! Gotta go give my dog a cuddle, thunder has arrived and he is a proper fraidy pants

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 08/02/2014 11:04

Fell asleep downstairs and dragged myself to bed around 3.30.
proceeded to lie there wide awake until 8, im up now and shattered! Sad

TeaAndANatter · 08/02/2014 11:36

Awake from 5.30 - 7am, so that wasn't so bad. It's usually about 2 or 3 until 4am. Drives me bonkers.

kjh5 · 08/02/2014 11:41

Welcome Swede congratulations on your BFP - today you are pregnant! This is a good place to hang out and share any worries or concerns you are having...

Hopeful sorry you are having such a rough time, has the bleeding stopped now? A lot of us experienced similar symptoms in the first trimester (and some beyond that) so don't give up hope. Can I suggest stepping away from the tests? The only thing POAS is good for is telling you that you are pregnant, the lines don't get darker the further along you get and they can sometimes give misleading results once the HCG hormone passes a certain level, which causes more worry than it is worth.

londonjen I got headaches in the beginning because I stopped drinking coffee, then they returned in the second trimester when I started drinking my one cup in the morning as I couldn't cope with the prego-related constipation. My sister is currently 18 weeks pregnant and while I had every single pregnancy symptom going (MS, sore boobs, PGP, SPD...) she's had nothing - apart from ongoing headaches...

Penguinita · 08/02/2014 14:55

Hi swede, congratulations on your bfp and hope this one has a happier outcome for you.

saggy I can't see the photo at that link it says it has been moved or deleted?

Pg insomnia is a pain, just when you feel you need the most sleep. I found it got better after the first trimester (a lot of it was excitement and worry). Seems to be coming back a bit now though.

Aoifebelle · 08/02/2014 16:41

Well, booked a spa break for me and OH. Just found out no sauna, jacuzzi or even back massage for me. Also popped into sainsbos on way home, my fave sauvingnon blanc is half price. Arghhhh.it's so unfair. #problemfreepregnancymoans

fedupofrainydays · 08/02/2014 17:34

My first preg I totally went off booze and desperate for it to happen now. I really really want a beer. I'm also a bit worried about my pregnancy as a result as want to be off booze as it's a good sign for me!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 08/02/2014 17:49

Bad afternoon. Sad
Got the nesting urge. mainly because for the first time in a month I feel mostly human.

DP has gone for his default setting. Stroppy shit who can't be told anything and throws a wobbly anytime I ask him to do something.
It's the same whenever we decorate or garden or do anything. I ask him to paste some wallpaper. Half an hour later I get handed something with a rough smear of paste in the middle. You only get the middle of the wall painted. If I point put it's not right he takes umbrage and sods off to do something else.
I'm desperately trying to get rid of clutter which he keeps bringing home and he's driving me dappy! We don't need 3 old fashioned tube style tvs. We don't need a 1980s tv unit that was evicted from the rec room in his office.
We don't need 900 books on boxing and football.
I've just had a full on migraine aura thingy and I think my head might explode.
My mum came round from next door in the end and intervened!

Pixielady83 · 08/02/2014 17:58

ooh saggy that hoarding would drive me to distraction as well! DH has the genes for it but I keep him under strict control (and we are never ever allowed to go to car boots as a result!) Clearing out his parents house with 40 years of hoarding crammed in was a pretty good wake up call for him, it was fairly harrowing although part of me was almost impressed by my FIL's commitment to saving every ticket from public transport he had ever been on Shock

aoife when are you going? I went in the jacuzzi last weekend but obviously at 36 weeks I felt the worst that could happen was I might go into labour. I think the main risks are overheating or infection, so if you are at a reasonably advanced stage in the pregnancy, stay in a shorter time and don't sit on jets(!) you would probably be ok. Also some places do special pregnancy massages with you sitting astride a chair, worth an ask? or maybe go with a facial instead Grin

fedup I've been drinking no alcohol Becks blue and it's ok, much better than some of the others on sale! I can confirm however that low and no alcohol wine is rank and should be avoided at all costs!

Aoifebelle · 08/02/2014 18:48

OMG saggy That would be full on preggo rage for me. How is he still alive. I would get a man around, just to lift the feckin tellies so i could drop them out of the top floor window and onto the bonfire of boxing books.
pixie I am off tomorrow only 6weeks so have to be careful not to bake the bean. I am having a facial.

I love a becks blue in the bath, apparently there is an alcohol free erdinger that is supposed to be lush. Never found it in a shop, but is available on line from some supermarkets.

LondonJen · 08/02/2014 18:53

kjh, that is so interesting that you and your sister had such different headache (and other symptom) experiences. Def feel less worried now everyone has mentioned having them for other reasons, thank you.

Aoife, how come you can't have a back massage? Is that a lying on your front thing? I assume the others are heat things? Bit pants hon. Do they maybe have an awesome restaurant facility you can indulge in instead?! Or yes, Pixie's idea of a facial.

Fedup, I want a beer now! Pixie, no alcohol wine sounds reeeevolting. Wonder if I can fool the inlaws by swanning around in the background of DP's skype chat swigging a becks blue..?

Sorry saggy, that sounds frustrating, esp as your nesting has kicked in, which by the way, sounds so lovely! My DP has a pile of rubbish on the bedroom floor that has been there for 3 months ie since we moved in. I refuse to pick it up. But I am about to give in. Then he will go mad for me intering. Tough crap mister!

DP just told me that he's thought about it and he doesn't think bottling up feelings is good so if I want to tell someone in RL about the pregnancy, he doesn't mind. This is a huge turnaround from last week when he really didn't want us to share it with anyone. I could understand why but felt I might need a handhold. Plus what was the point in telling people about the mmc if then didn't use their support now? Not that I want to tell everyone right now. Anyway, I am so pleased he has changed his mind because I was a bit worried I might find myself having to choose between my sanity and us being a team sticking to the same plan. Phew!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 08/02/2014 19:19

Aoife I have been known to throw furniture out of windows! DP drags home any old crap that people are getting rid of. It sits for a while and then I chuck it.

Pixielady83 · 08/02/2014 19:49

ah sorry aoife didn't realise you were going so soon. Hope you have a restful day anyway. And yes to no alcohol erdinger, it's lovely, I think Sainsburys online do it.

london that's nice you and DP are on the same page now and you can get a bit more support Smile

fedupofrainydays · 08/02/2014 21:57

It's the name... 'Dealcoholised wine' that just sounds so gross. But I think I could handle alcohol free beer! Not sure of my logic but I'm sure there is one there somewhere...

Nest away ladies. It's your prerogative. Chuck that junk!! I was ruthless and it felt soooo good! Wish I kept it up but seemingly returned to hoarder now my son is 2.5. I need this baby to make it for de cluttering purposes Wink

Had a really bad day of crotch watch. Started to imagine red specks on the loo roll. Literally went bonkers. It's cos I had cramps and started to panic it was all ending. Cramps stopped now so trying to put it down to some stretching...

squizita · 08/02/2014 22:14

Becks Blue and 'Bavaria' 0% beers are both very nice. Cidona tastes very like cider, too. :)

Having a bit of a worry. Just went out for a Thai - 1st time I've eaten anything spicy for a while. Anyway (TMI) after 2 spicy courses I get a gurgling in my stomach and have to go and do a runny poo. Like, still in the restaurant, did the poo, felt fine. KNOW that no foodpoisoning happens that fast, and anyway not feeling ill. 99.9% sure that it was my pregnant-sensitive tummy + slices of raw red chilli = irritated guts (like temporary IBS or something). Fine now.
But I still have a nagging doubt that eating the spicy food has somehow done some damage. I think because before one of my previous losses I had eaten prunes to combat hard stools and so connect any loose stools with blood/miscarriage. :( Also 'helpful' people telling me old wives tales like chilli causes miscarriage. :(

squizita · 08/02/2014 22:15

...in the restaurant toilet, I mean. Grin It was a classy establishment, innit.

Aoifebelle · 08/02/2014 22:40

squiz another fish slap heading your way. If spicy food can damage a foetus, how come india is one of the most populous countries in the world? You have dodgy guts because you are preggers and you ate raw chilli. Simples. Now pull yourself together woman.

squizita · 08/02/2014 22:50

Aoife Grin Cheers m'dear!

fedupofrainydays · 09/02/2014 07:11

I did giggle at that, but not at you as I would think the same thing even when it sounds so ridiculous! Yes, it's just sensitive tummy and will do no harm to le baby. They say that when you are full term and a baby is ready to come that they spiciest curry can start labour hence why I think there is that mc link as it works by upset guts triggering your ready womb into contraction BUT it is only relevant when you are due if that makes sense. And doesn't work partic well as I know people stuffing curries down for weeks when overdue and nada!!

Penguinita · 09/02/2014 09:03

I've heard that Kopperberg (sp?) non alcoholic cider is very nice and you can't tell the difference. I've never been able to find it in the shops though.

squizita · 09/02/2014 10:59

penguinita they have it in Tescos/online! Having said that, Cidona (if your Tesco has an Irish foods aisle) is identical and 1/3rd the price. :)
