Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, first trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a long time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Hi qaz I remember you from mc threads! Hopefully it will be your lucky one this time.
I have a bread maker and really love it! We bake a loaf every week and hardly ever buy bread these days. My favourite is white and granary mixed together. Yum.

PuppyMummy · 20/10/2013 15:51

piper yes asda, tesco and the like. You can get white, seeded brown, ciabatta, all sorts. you just add the right amount of water to the packet in the bread maker, shut the door and press the button! they r ace and its that simple!

Pipersouth · 20/10/2013 17:50

Congrats Qaz fingers crossed for you and any of us that needs it! Thanks for the bread info I think santa might get a letter sometime Grin

Thundercatsarego · 20/10/2013 18:06

qaz I recognise you too! Hello and massive congrats. Were your previous mc's at a similar stage? Just thinking of a milestone you can start by working towards?

Bread makers - I mostly use mine to make pizza/focaccia dough in. My loaf recipe doesn't use butter at all. I find with granary loaves it's good to put vitamin C in- apparently helps make it lighter and is a natural preservative or something? I've never used those kit packet thingies but they sound dead handy.

BlindKitty · 20/10/2013 18:56

qaz congrats! We're all good at hand holding in here so you've come to the right place!

Re bread, I did use a bread maker but the electric tripped and I didn't know how long left to prove so just bunged it in the oven. Also, the recipe I followed was far too salty. thunder can you buy unflavoured vit c? I've only ever seen it in orange flavour! Good idea re pizza dough - I like it!!!

Thundercatsarego · 20/10/2013 19:26

Yeah I think you can buy it in health food shops? I had some unflavoured tablets that I just crushed up. Apparently I can make jam and marmalade in my bread maker. Never tried it tho!

qazxc · 20/10/2013 22:03

previous mc's at 6,8 and 12 weeks. never had a first scan so hoping that there are no nasty surprises in the next few weeks. My first milestone would be to see a hearbeat on a monitor.

BlindKitty · 21/10/2013 07:01

qaz oh that sounds awful for you. Apparently once you see a heart beat there is only a 5% chance of a mc after that so hopefully that will put your mind at rest

Boomgoestheweasel · 21/10/2013 07:53

qaz are you under the rmc clinic this time? Tally will know more about this than me but I understand you get more scans and closer care. Hope this is the case for you!

Fell up the stairs at work last night and now have massive bruises on both knees. Also burst into tears in front of customers, mainly because it was embarrassing but also because I was worried about the babies (which is stupid, I landed on my knees, not my belly). Was a horrible night anyway, a zillion screaming uncontrolled kids were in which gave me a headache mine will not be like this, she says smugly All in all, glad I'm off for two days now!

Thunder isn't it your scan this week....?

Thundercatsarego · 21/10/2013 08:01

qaz good luck with the doc today- yes they should be giving you extra care and scans- surely? So sorry about your losses it must be a very anxious time.

boom yes it's tomorrow morning. Arrgggg.
Hope you are ok and not too shaken after falling.

Headache back today but not in full force so trying to catch it before it gathers steam.

Boomgoestheweasel · 21/10/2013 08:15

Eeee Thunder exciting, hoping it's a Homer Simpson baby Grin

Yeah I'm fine now except for the sore knees and wounded pride. At the time I was really upset though, went and cried in the kitchen and got a hug and two mini mars bars from the chef!

Hope the headache bogs off. I'm a bit sore-headed but I think it's just tiredness/crying last night so drinking lots of water and keeping fingers crossed it goes away!

Tallyra · 21/10/2013 08:19

heh, you'd think I'd know more wouldn't you? my scans ate from a kind hospital consultant from being admitted with sickness, nothing to do with any mc clinic. I've had to fight for being checked up on for mc, they are pretty crap down here for that.

Boomgoestheweasel · 21/10/2013 08:46

Oh really tally? I thought it was a combination of both, my mistake! qat I hope your doc is understanding today and will fight your corner for early scans.

Hello Berries - had my 12 week scan today and there's definitely a baby in there! Heart beating, normal number of limbs and only one brain. My original EDD was 4th May, and they have it as 5th May so pretty close! I've uploaded an upside down scan picture onto my profile - the other pics we got (generous midwife gave us three!) look very very apelike. I could upload them for a jape but I worry about giving the poor bugger a complex so early Smile

Thunder good luck with your scan today!
qat hope everything goes okay for you today!

Foodylicious · 21/10/2013 11:16

Wow Brod that must have been amazing! Grin Grin!!

Tallyra · 21/10/2013 11:28

fantastic brod!!! Grin

Thundercatsarego · 21/10/2013 11:32

Fantastic brod!! And even though yours is upside down its still facing the right way damnit! Am I still the only backward apart from booms darth?

Scan is tomorrow...

Brodicea · 21/10/2013 11:59

Oo, misread the timings - good luck tomorrow in that case.

Really not sure how it got in upside down, but yes the right way around is a bonus!

qazxc · 21/10/2013 12:01

Back from Doc. He's very good, gave me a letter and told me to go to EPU to get an appointment for scan (i get the feeling he knew that if you are physically there, they have to deal with you there and then. as opposed to you ringing and them saying that they will post off an appointment or ring you, which in my exp means lots of waiting and eventually them getting back to you about a month after you miscarry). I am officially upduffed. I have a scan in 2 weeks! so crossing fingers that all goes smoothly, I feel like boom said up thread "pregnancy limbo" ATM.
boom sorry to hear about your fall, hope your ok. And yes of course all our DCs will be perfectly behaved, polite, quiet little angels Wink.

qazxc · 21/10/2013 12:04

Yay Brod! congratulations on your scan!

Boomgoestheweasel · 21/10/2013 12:27

Ooooh brod lovely, upsidedown baby! I think you should upload ape photos, go on, you know you want to Grin My dates changed by nearly a week, started out with edd 25 April, then 23rd and now I'm on 20th April - don't know which one they're using officially though Hmm

qaz your doc sounds like he's a good'un, and hooray for the nice early scan! I had to lie to get mine mwahaha

Have just persuaded Mr Boom that it's his turn to walk the dogs in the pissing rain so am happily ensconced on the sofa watching the end of a film I didn't quite finish watching before work last night and knitting a slightly wonky scarf. Happy days!

CatsCantFlyFast · 21/10/2013 18:16

Brod, haven't looked at the pic but congrats it all went well
Boom am I right in thinking twins are likely to be delivered early? Might you beat Thunder and I to the finish line then?
Thunder I am confused now as i remember you mentioning something about 16 weeks not being 4 months. However one of the email updates I got this morning said I was nearly 5 months, suggesting that 4 weeks does = a month. Anyone??

For the last three days I have been unable to stop eating. I am eating so much I make myself feel sick, but them start eating again the minute the sickness goes. I am going to be like a house!! Also I am not thankful for discovering today that I now have hairy nipples ShockShockShockShock

CatsCantFlyFast · 21/10/2013 18:17

And qazxc have a hand to hold during your stay in limbo land... FX for this one to be sticky

Thundercatsarego · 21/10/2013 18:25

merk the way I see the month thing is this- the pregnancy is considered to have a 40 week gestation. So if a month is 4 weeks that means there are ten of em. Because calendar months are longer than 4 weeks (apart from February) it's not very easy to muddle the two terms up.

For example- if we say that a pregnancy is 9 months, then halfway would be 4.5 which in 4 week terms is 18 weeks.

However it's actually 40 weeks so half way is 20 weeks.

Annnd phhhhzzzzzzz

That's the sound of my head gently exploding.

CatsCantFlyFast · 21/10/2013 18:32

But I thought you were actually pregnant for 10 months and the 9 month thing was a myth?? So confused
Think I may be stuck in the bath... Because I couldn't possibly go without eating for half an hour I brought crisps with me and now feel like I couldn't move if I tried Grin
Oh and the constipation arrived with the hairy nipples. I feel so glamorous. Hope I'm giving all you ladies who a few weeks behind something to look forward to Wink
