Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, first trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a long time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Hi Angel welcome to the copter! Sounds like you've had a rough ride, congratulations on your bfp though Grin Hope your doc can help or if not, refer you on to someone who can, it sounds nasty.

Sorry thunder must have x-posted earlier and then fell asleep again until the dog came and headbutted me awake because he needed a wee. Ridiculously tired! You'll be glad to know that when I woke up I had another sneaky dopple (yes, I admit to addiction) and of course both of them were popping along merrily, so I can just go back to the standard background level of worry Grin I'm such a basketcase.

Right, off shopping for a funeral dress (cheerful) can't decide whether to buy a maternity one which will currently be too baggy at the front but might do me for a few more months with some bright accessories, or a normal one which will probably be a wear-once affair..

Thundercatsarego · 14/10/2013 09:29

Hey boom glad you found them both this time.

What about a wraparound dress? Either maternity or not it will at least expand as you grow. Sorry to hear you've got a funeral to go to though.

Foodylicious · 14/10/2013 09:52

Yay for a succesful dopple boom, I would go for a mat dress with a belt or cardigan so its not too obviously too big.
Welome Angel!

Tallyra · 14/10/2013 15:21

I'm sad. dh can't get away from work tomorrow for my scan. it's not terrible as I have them weekly but he's so worried each week, even more than I am sometimes, so he needs it as much as me!
I can't believe I'm nearly up to 14 weeks now, it should be a dream but daytime tv kind of distracts me when I'm not throwing up. merk I really feel for you, I had migraines a lot before I got pg and I'm always worried i'll get one and I can't take the prevention tablets any more.

Foodylicious · 14/10/2013 15:52

Thats pants tally, daytime tv is rubbish - off sick with a cold for a few days and thats bad enough!

BelissimaLol · 14/10/2013 16:01

Good practice for when you lot are on mat leave though GrinGrin

Boomgoestheweasel · 14/10/2013 16:31

Aw Tally that's a shame he can't be there, will you get photos at least to show him? Sorry you're still being sick Sad but at least you have Jezza K to keep you company.. Hmm

Found a dress, it's not a maternity one (got to Asda and found they've scrapped their maternity range, annoying) but it's stretchy and covers the flab/beginning of bump so will do!

Mat jeans arrived today too, and just compounded the feeling of being a fraudster - they don't fit because they're too big where my bump should be and fall down! So normal jeans are too tight but maternity jeans are too loose; I AM just fat Grin

Right, off to work in my too-tight jeans...

OP posts:
Brodicea · 14/10/2013 16:42

How annoying tally Sad I bet the illness doesn't help with the sad.

boom I wore some maternity jeans yesterday inherited from a friend - over the bump ones and felt a definite fraud! What can you do though - I don't want to buy a heap of clothes one or two sizes up, only to have to buy the same things again in maternity size. I guess, we'll just keep getting bigger! In the meantime I have been wondering about wearing old man trouser suspenders Smile

Brodicea · 14/10/2013 16:43

Hmm, maternity jeans with suspenders - would pretty much be the same as clown trousers...

CatsCantFlyFast · 14/10/2013 17:21

A belly band works well at that stage

  • wear it over undone jeans to hold them up and cover up the fact they're undone.

Tally, sorry you're alone tomorrow. How's the sickness? Is the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter?

Thunder hope you can find a solution to the headaches. Have you talked to the midwife as I know they can prescribe stronger painkillers

Tallyra · 14/10/2013 19:02

I do seem to be ever so slightly better. I've managed to eat in the evening 3 times this week which is unheard of.

BlindKitty · 14/10/2013 19:24

tally glad you feel better even if it is only ever so slightly! Shame dh can't go to your scan but you could video it and 'what's ap' it to him?

angel has anyone suggested scanning your bladder yet in case there's something causing the UTIs? Might be worth suggesting at your next gp appointment rather than taking antibiotics forever?

boom phew that you found the other heartbeat. I can't wait to start using one! I'm going to be a nightmare lol!

So starting to feel a lot less like eating atm...maybe I am preggers after all?!?!

Angelina77 · 14/10/2013 20:39

Blind yeah, I've had a scan and a cystoscopy, it's nothing sinister, as far as they can see. More ABs today, although baby-friendly ones this time, thankfully.

Negative pregnancy test at docs :( I expected that though as I'm only 11dpo today but he told me it's possible to get false positives which I don't think is true with First Response tests.

I'll have to wait a few days then test again, to be sure.

BlindKitty · 14/10/2013 21:21

angel you don't normally get false positives but its still worth waiting in case you get a cp (which I'm sure you won't before I incite anxiety!). I tested 13dpo and only had a very faint line at that point

Work mates were asking me whether I wanted babies today. I politely answered yes --and screamed 'I should
F*&@ing hope so' in my head. They were like oh do you think you'll get pregnant soon then? I was like 'erm yeh hopefully'. They prob thought, 'wow, she's optimistic' lol

Quodlibet · 14/10/2013 23:28

Welcome Angel. I tested neg at doctors when I was at least 6 weeks pg - I don't think their tests are that sensitive.

Got a growth scan tomorrow a.m after measuring small (28cm) at 31 wk midwife appt today. Hopefully nothing to worry about and will be some reassurance to alleviate my paranoia over small bump, but still quite nervous. Wish me luck.

Tally I am glad you are slowly feeling more human.

PuppyMummy · 15/10/2013 06:38

Hi all. sorry, I hav missed loads!

quod hope ur scan goes ok. welcome angel

kitty I like to stop eating, I am troughing for England!

Symptom-wise still nothing of note although boobs still sore and def getting bigger. Extremely tired and thirsty and def needing a wee a lot! so I am presuming that I am indeed pregnant!

6+5 today. time is going extremely slowly!

Boomgoestheweasel · 15/10/2013 06:48

quod good luck with the scan. I'm assuming it was based on a growth chart since you're only 3cm below? I wouldn't worry, I must send a good 1/3 of mums down for scans based on those, they tend to find problems where there are none! Sure everything will be fine but good luck anyway x

tally oh how nice that you're feeling even a smidge better! Hope the improvement continues, and good luck for your scan too x

brod bwaha now I want maternity clown pants!

angel sure the doc's test is far less sensitive than a fr, it will pop up next time.

kitty ha I've had many of those conversations! They'll think you're a bloody fast mover when you tell them!

Weirdly, a relative stranger knew I was pregnant yesterday, she's a regular at work but I haven't seen her for a few weeks and the first thing she said was, 'hello Boom, oh are you expecting?' Weird, and slightly rude I thought (what if I was just fat!) as nobody else has guessed but she clearly thought it was obvious! So maybe there is a bit of a bump...
Grin

Right, getting up to make cake and head off to funeral...

OP posts:
BlindKitty · 15/10/2013 07:15

boom you're getting up to make cake???? Not even this pesky head buffing cat seems to be getting me up this morning! Hope the funeral goes ok

angel have you done any more fr tests?

puppy got a big Chinese meal on Friday with a load of mates, non of whom know I'm diffed. Thinking of going for a starter and feigning illness...

quod good luck today, not that you'll need it

Boomgoestheweasel · 15/10/2013 07:57

Kitty ha well I promised my friend I'd make a cake for the funeral as it was her mum's favourite, and ran out of time to do it before work yesterday! So it's in the oven now...would much rather have stayed in bed, especially as Boomdog II has taken the opportunity to ignore all my careful housetraining lessons and poo/wee all over the living room in the night Angry. What's a head buffing cat? Grin

Sorry puppy crossed with you. Totally agree that time is going far too slowly! 13wks today here, but it does seem to have taken 6 months or so!

OP posts:
Angelina77 · 15/10/2013 09:38

Tested again this morning and got a nice clear line straight away. Phew! Still only technically 3+5 today so far from out of the woods but my symptoms are very strong, I feel much further along which I suppose tallies with the strong HCG result.

Brodicea · 15/10/2013 10:10

Nice one angel!

Tallyra · 15/10/2013 10:25

That's great angel, don't worry about the doctors, they don't seem to care too much at this stage.

Well today's scan was brilliant. baby is really active and is boxing, and even jumping - the legs definitely work! I think I might start being able to believe this is happening soon.Grin

PoppySeedBun · 15/10/2013 11:16

great news tally! So exciting to see them jump and squirm, isn't it?

Good luck with funeral boom. I haven't been able to bring myself to make cake at all (unusual for me), let alone doing it first thing in the morning!

Having another rotten day here. Really lightheaded and queasy - thought that bit was easing off at least. Now sitting on the floor of the ladies at work, wondering if a good vom would help :(

Quodlibet · 15/10/2013 11:44

Back from scan - totally normal sized baby and normal fluid levels here hidden in my Tardis midsection. Baby was stubborn again and took a lot of prodding and jiggling to get the stomach measurement, and is currently breech, but very reassuring to know it is growing well despite me still looking very 'neat'.

Brodicea · 15/10/2013 12:02

I hope you're feeling a little better now poppy with or without having to vom.

Nice one to you too quod!!
