Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, first trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a long time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Ugh, flu jab in an hour. Blah.

OP posts:
CatsCantFlyFast · 12/10/2013 09:35

I've not been offered the flu jab. Should I have been? yet another thing to fret about
I had wine with dinner last night and surprisingly did not feel guilty. However I also drank over a litre of water so suspect my body barely noticed. But it tasted good. And I am reminding myself of the Australian studies in Thunder's book that seem to provide good evidence that moderate drinking is fine

Thundercatsarego · 12/10/2013 10:06

Morning all. I having been offered the flu jab either. I have also had a couple of drinks (on separate occasions) with dinner, when I have felt well enough to- I know lots if people don't do it but I enjoyed feeling normal for a while- not to mention being able to have a delicious drink that isn't sweet for once.

My book says there is no evidence that any harm is done by 1-2 drinks a week in the first tri and 1-2 drinks a day in the second and third.

BelissimaLol · 12/10/2013 10:12

I've not even offered jabs either and had to call the gp and demand the whooping cough one AngryAngry
I also drank the odd glass of wine here and there and as far as I know no harm has been done!
Merk your cake is amazing!
Oh thund 22oct is just around the corner! What time is the scan?

Tallyra · 12/10/2013 10:20

I'm getting slightly better for a little longer in the mornings.

I was told I'd need to get jabs but haven't had any more contact with the mW so that's as fad as I got with that one.

could someone as my edd, 17th April?

PuppyMummy · 12/10/2013 10:39

I had booking in apt yesterday (scary as still so early!) I am getting flu jab next week.

midwife was nice but went through everything at 100 miles an hour. she has given me edd of 5th june but I hav worked out 31st may (nhs due date calculator) as I only hav a 23 day cycle. she said it didnt matter! but then in the notes she has me down as 6+5 (I was 6+1 by my calculations) which I dont get. cos if she thinks my edd is later would I not be less than my calculation?

I know it doesn't matter cos they will alter it after dating scan but just wondered...

Foodylicious · 12/10/2013 11:28

Hi puppy let them date you later than you are as you will get the 12 weeks scan sooner - I think some of them are being deliberately generous with this to reduce the wait!

Foodylicious · 12/10/2013 11:33

Scary stuff - just allowed myself to phone Drs and booked MW booking in appt for 29th!
Shit.Must.Think.Positive.

Thundercatsarego · 12/10/2013 11:58

Where is merk's cake?? I need to see!!

lol I know- it's a week on Tuesday. The thought makes me feel really sick! It's at 8.30am at least so no waiting around on the day.

puppy it's horrible to feel rushed, hope it's all sunk in now. No idea about the dates I'm afraid but getting to dating scan ASAP is definitely a bonus!

Well done foody. Positive thoughts!

PoppySeedBun · 12/10/2013 12:32

Foodylicious · 13/10/2013 04:13

Wish I was asleep!
had a rubbish sore throat and cough all week, took friday off work and was day off yesterday, rang in yesterday morning to say I was FTR for today. Just rung in sick again, cant stop coughing and cant sleep Sad, meant to start at 7.
Am turning into a bit of a wreck too, just keep thinking the worst is going to happen, worrying over every little twinge and stomach ache which is hard as I know i have IBS and stupid hormones with (TMI) excess wind. But I just cant help it, got rubbish stomach ache now and just worrying.
Have got up and made myself a Brew de-caf of course, hope I can get back to sleep soon

night x

Thundercatsarego · 13/10/2013 05:09

I'm often awake now too foody, so I know your pain on wishing you were asleep. Sorry you're not feeling well though. I was poorly around the same time as you- it's very common I think. Your body is suppressing your immune system so you don't reject the little bean, so if you think about it, it's reassuring.

I hope you get some rest and sleep and feel better soon though. Calm thoughts x

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/10/2013 08:24

Poor you Foody, hope you feel better soon. And I think everyone has got the wind coming as I am farting for Britain with very little ability to control it Blush

Thundercatsarego · 13/10/2013 08:27

Ohh is that you merk? My neighbours bin had blown right across the garden yesterday

Wink
CatsCantFlyFast · 13/10/2013 09:20

Wouldn't surprise me Thunder! You won't be laughing when you get it!

Thundercatsarego · 13/10/2013 09:39

Is it catching?

BlindKitty · 13/10/2013 09:40

Ah foody it's only natural to feel like this but just because you've mc before doesn't mean you will again. Will you feel any better once you've past the time it happened before (think you said 6 weeks)?

Quodlibet · 13/10/2013 09:42

Foody I've had that horrid cold/sore thread thing too this week and it has totally wiped me out too, far more than something like that would do normally. Like someone said, it's cos your immune system is lowered. And you will end up feeling mentally 'low' too when you are ill so no surprise you are worrying more. My anxiety always starts kicking in when I am run down too - doesn't mean that anything is amiss though. Hope you feel better soon.

Boomgoestheweasel · 13/10/2013 09:57

Urgh don't talk to me about wind! Last night I made the foolish mistake of wearing tights for a dinner party (amongst other clothing items, lest you fret about my ability to dress myself). Cue unbearable pain from trapped wind, inability to finish even main course and totally outing myself as everyone wondered why I looked so ill! All I needed was to take my tights off and have a damn good fart!

Foody sorry you're feeling rubbish, and only to be expected that you'll worry. It does sound like you've just got a shitty cold though, I'm sure everything bean-related is absolutely fine. Hope you're feeling better today x

Merk that cake is awesome!

Re flu jabs, nobody told me to go and get it either, I just know that a) it's recommended in pregnancy and b) I'll have to have it anyway for work so might as well get it out of the way now. Yes the mw should tell you to get it but not all surgeries have got it in stock yet so maybe that's why? You can all book yourselves in for it if you want it though, being diffed puts you in the eligible category! Whooping cough isn't until 28wks, which is good because my arm is still killing from this one Sad

Shattered after driving to Newcastle and back yesterday and then out for dinner. Was going to take the dogs to the reservoir but think they're going to have to make do with the park because I can't face a 5k walk this morning!

MotherOfCleo · 13/10/2013 10:29

foody if it helps I was ill for most of the first 12 weeks with coughs and colds, I felt so run down and couldnt take anything for it. I feel your pain, I found a vitamin cocktail of zinc, vit c, garlic plus lemon tea with honey helped me survive. Hope you feel better soon! Thanks

Oh an I also suffered with trapped wind a couple of times, once when out for dinner with friends....I really feel for babies now as it hurt A LOT! Sad
