Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, first trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a long time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Hey Jeno come on in. Lots of worrying going on here so you will fit right in

BlindKitty · 09/10/2013 07:24

Hi guys! 8+0 here! Really hoping I don't start feeling like merk and poppy did at week 8! First gp appointment tomorrow - any top tips?

boom and kat I didn't cry once this week at midwives. In fact, I was more angry at the woman at the end for not listening to her midwive! boom you have all this to look forward to in your new job! Have you told them your pg btw?

So yesterday my gearbox fell out! Not good when you're blocking the entrance to a busy town centre carpark - oops! All sorted now though, thank goodness for the Rac!

Thundercatsarego · 09/10/2013 07:32

Happy 8 weeks blind and 12 weeks boom!

Welcome jeno

merk did you sort out your clothing disaster?

PoppySeedBun · 09/10/2013 07:46

boom I'm right behind you - 12 weeks today as well! Also scan day and Harmony results day (this afternoon) Fx that we can finally start telling people after that. The only people that know so far are my boss and my parents.

kitty if it's any consolation, I started feeling rough before 6 weeks, so it may be that you don't get too bad at all - everyone's different. Don't think I have any recommendations for the GP appointment - I could never think of any useful questions in mine...

I think I might actually have to face the clothing challenge at some point. I've been getting away with a couple of pairs if trousers and long tops so far. Trouble is, I don't like shopping at the best of times, so I can see this making me doubly grumpy. kat like you, I don't see how I can get away without a new coat at least - pretty sure my current one won't fasten very soon.

PoppySeedBun · 09/10/2013 07:47

Oh, and welcome jeno - we're all worriers together here Grin

Boomgoestheweasel · 09/10/2013 07:48

Snarf kitty I thought your gearbox falling out was a euphemism for something! Blush Hope it's fixed, and congrats on 8wks Grin

I've not told them yet, I haven't got my contract through and even though I know they can't withdraw the job offer on the basis of pg, I want to know that my contract is watertight first. At this rate I'll be 20wks before I tell them haha! Things move sloooowly in the NHS...

Hi Jeno come on in, we'll let you off for instadiffing and we know all about early pg nerves! Why the difference in dates, do you have wonky cycles?

And last but not least, I offer you all The penis beaker thread I was in absolute hysterics last night reading this!

Boomgoestheweasel · 09/10/2013 07:52

Oooh poppy sorry, x-post. A bump buddy apart from my lack of bump awesome! Congrats on 12 wks and looking forward to seeing your scan pics Grin

Am I bad for feeling a bit ripped off at the lack of bump? How come everyone else gets one? Envy Are you all skinny minnies who look diffed after a muffin or do I just have a reticent pair of babies?

OP posts:
BelissimaLol · 09/10/2013 08:00

Good luck poppy. You and kat are my next targets for our fb group GrinGrin

CatsCantFlyFast · 09/10/2013 08:06

Poppy are you getting gender with your harmony results? Good luck
Kitty I had to laugh at your gearbox falling out! How does that even happen??
Boom I am pretty sure my early bump is down to very weak abdominal muscles. Yes I am skinny but I'm not one for exercise so think the slightest pressure from baby/squashed body parts and my stomach muscles just gave up resisting!
Have managed to find a single blouse this morning that vaguely fits, assuming I breathe in. Makes my boobs look enormous and is stretched on my back but hopefully its only one day as my orders arrive tonight, yey!
Who is seeing their gp? I never had to do that so no help I'm afraid

Boomgoestheweasel · 09/10/2013 08:11

Hmm merk well I'm certainly not likely to have amazing abdominals either but I do have a fairly generous layer of blubber so maybe there is a bump under it all. I should stop grumbling really, sure I'll be the size of a house soon enough!

Thundercatsarego · 09/10/2013 08:55

Good luck poppy, I too want to know if you're finding out the sex?

boom I'm going to record your bump envy for a few months time when you're bloomin huge! I'm not skinny and just had bloating from around 13 weeks I think. Only this week that I can't get trousers done up and I'm 16+6. My tops are all fine (but I wear stretchy long stuff anyway)

Quodlibet · 09/10/2013 09:21

Bit late to the maternity clothes discussion, but I have picked up a few smart-ish bits at Cos as none of their normal stuff seems to have a waist. Got a dress from there which I have now worn to 2 weddings which has been much admired. Aside from that, Asos maternity is good because you can send stuff back (got 3 pairs of trousers from there, and a great long black New Look dress which looks much more expensive than £20, and would also work for BF). In terms of long stretchy vests, Gap essentials vests are the best quality long vests I have found on the high st and they have a good range. I get sent into an unreasonable rage about stripy maternity wear (WHY is so much of it stripy???! It's like a weird fatties uniform) which rules out quite a lot of maternity ranges for me.

PoppySeedBun · 09/10/2013 10:19

Yes, we are finding out the sex from Harmony today too. I wasn't sure about knowing, but DH would always rather have more info than less and it will make it easier to discuss names (which we've been too superstitious to even talk about yet - we just call it Bob ;)
Suspect my mini bump is a combination of bloat, which I tend to do anyway, and weak abs.
Laughing at the stripey rage! I hadn't noticed but do now remember my SIL at 8 mths wearing a stripey top and looked enormous. Smile

Grr forgot to ask Poppy what time your appointment is so will be checking back all day! Any guesses on girl/boy?

Boomgoestheweasel · 09/10/2013 14:24

Got to be a boy to balance things out! I'm also dashing in and out waiting to hear!

Sorry for keeping you all on tenterhooks! Appointment 4pm, but with all the faffing around don't expect an update until 5.
No pref either way - haven't really managed to get hopes up enough to imagine either yet!

And OMG the beaker thread Shock it seems to have gone viral - Caitlin Moran tweeted about it this morning Confused

PoppySeedBun · 09/10/2013 17:03

Drum roll .... IT'S A GIRL!
Does that mean we're all girls so far??
All looked good, was leaping around like a salmon, and Harmony results v v low (ie good).
Phew! Huge sigh of relief for getting this far. Feeling like a massive bunch of anxiety has lifted.

Thundercatsarego · 09/10/2013 17:06

Hooray poppy! Congratulations!

So do you have your due date now too?

BelissimaLol · 09/10/2013 17:10

Poppy pm me your name now please GrinGrinGrin- you can't escape fb now!!!
Huge congrats. Girls are ace!!!!!!!

PoppySeedBun · 09/10/2013 17:35

Yes, due date actually remains almost exactly the same as originally calculated: 23 April. Just after Easter :)
Re FB, oo er, that sounds scary! Where did we end up on moving to the 'proper' grads thread? Suppose I might have to start showing my face there at least...

CatsCantFlyFast · 09/10/2013 17:39

Poppy yey, congrats, and welcome to club pink. Yes you are officially now a grad and just a lurker on the copter fred!

BlindKitty · 09/10/2013 17:49

poppy fab news! Very jealous!!! Do you mind me asking how much it cost?

boom lol at your euphemism comment although since we haven't had much bedroom action since conceiving there is little chance of 'my' gearbox falling out!!!

Thundercatsarego · 09/10/2013 18:03

Am I just a lurker too?

I think I might be the littlest hobo..

... There's a voice, keeps on callin me....

I thought we were going en masse?
