Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, first trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a long time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Yay for the wiggly baby thunder! And yay for the dopple-happy midwife!

Does this mean you might be pregnant after all...?

OP posts:
Thundercatsarego · 07/10/2013 17:46

Not sure boom, thinking now it could have been iced bun rumbles?

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/10/2013 17:54

Def not pregnant. Get thee back to the berry Fred with your shrinking trews and rumbling buns Grin

PuppyMummy · 07/10/2013 17:57

Thanks everyone. so glad your all here.

We hav thought about an early scan but id be 8 weeks just a few days before we go on holiday with friends. We decided not to do it then in case of a bad outcome. by the time we get back id be 10 weeks, then seemed like we may as well wait...

Honestly im so greatful to be pregnant and not feel terrible but it feels so unreal.

I hav had no bleeding or anything to suggest it isn't all ok but only 3 little pee sticks to look at as proof is really hard work!

midwife appointment on Friday, ill consider the options with that.

Thanks for listening and reassuring!

Foodylicious · 07/10/2013 18:01

kat & merk can i suggest you try this
www.amazon.co.uk/Simple-Spotless-Rapid-Action-Zapper/dp/B005SSAGQW

I still get spots and this is great stuff! reduces the reness, dries them out a bit, makes them smaller and stops alot from coming out altogether!

BlindKitty · 07/10/2013 18:12

puppy I'm 7+5 now and still feel mostly normal. My boobs do hurt especially when I prod them to check every 5 mins and I'm generally not as bothered about food as usual but nothing 'major' as such. Do understand your angst but I am starting to count my blessings

boom you're very sneaky...knew having a berry midwife would come in useful!

So I'm on study leave this week and as an icebreaker we have to talk about our biggest achievement in life. All I can think of is finally getting diffed lol but guessing that's sharing too much!!!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/10/2013 18:30

foody thank you - have placed my order. Although not sure what i have would count as spots tbh, we will wait and see if it helps

thunder you are doing the exact opposite to me. I am 'rounding up' my weeks to kid myself into seeming further on than my actual dates (hence 16 weeks = 4 months in my head) whereas you seem to be being very accurate and not letting yourself get a single day ahead! I'm all for blurring the lines at the moment on the basis I won't mind once i'm on maternity leave and can lie around.

Have put an offer in on another house today after the person selling the first one was stalling for time and generally being un-contactable and annoying. Despite it only being a few miles away we don't know the area v well so DH has decided we must drive there again tonight (in the dark). I am going along with the idea and keeping my trap shut instead of pointing out that we are not going to learn much when the traffic in the one way system is quiet, the shops are shut and all we can really do is drive past and peer at our potential new home Grin.Helpfully it seems the drive by is scheduled for after he has got home (via his mum's who is unable to send an email on her own and needs urgent help) and I can therefore see dinner not happening until 9.30 or later. To preempt the hungry pregnant person rage I am off to the shops to buy biscuits (does fancying hobnobs count as a bona fide craving??)

Remember Midwives is on tv later but no spoilers as I will be doing aforementioned drive by!

Thundercatsarego · 07/10/2013 18:54

Do you know when you plan to go on mat leave, merk? I can't process those kind of thoughts yet. Do I have an issue?

Hope your drive by goes well, definitely stick up on food. I just cajoled OH into making me a sandwich for dinner #1. I'll be onto #3 or 4 by 9.30.

puppy it's so hard how slow the time goes. It really is just one long day at a time. Good idea to see how you feel after your appointment. As long as this anxiety won't spoil your holiday because if it will you might as well get the scan before and know for sure!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/10/2013 19:09

Thunder only reason I know about maternity is because I am hating my new job so the sooner I can get out of there the better! Also hopefully will have a new house to DIY before baby arrives.
I am going to start really scaring you all soon and talking about names!!! We are really struggling on girls names

Thundercatsarego · 07/10/2013 19:19

That's crap that you're hating your job merk. For some reason I thought you worked for yourself. Sounds like you'd like to! So do you know when you would like to take the maternity leave?

And what's the struggle with girls names? Agreeing or picking ones you like in the first place?

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/10/2013 19:45

Aaah maternity leave...I haven't even started my job yet Wink. By the time I do I'll be nearly 20wks.....and probably going on maternity leave at about 34wks. They'll be totally chuffed!

Are we allowed to know your shortlist merk? Or is it still a very long shortlist? Or no list at all? Hope you enjoy your nocturnal drive-by!

We've (I think) decided on names, although one name is still a bit contentious - mainly because we both like the short version, but I have a weird 'thing' about using only using the full name. Ie Alfie should be Alfred, Evie should be Evelyn etc. Think I will compromise on my standards for this one though, because the full name is pretty awful, and I'm not totally convinced that the short version isn't a name in its own right... not going to check in case it isn't and my OCD starts to twitch

Just stuffed my face with figs, creme fraiche and pomegranate molasses. That doesn't count as greed, does it, because it's posh? Must be a craving Grin

Are you going to share, boom?

Foodylicious · 07/10/2013 19:49

Sooo tired! and have more perky squishy boobs!, oh and feel sick on and off all day.

Seriously am very, very tired. not sure what i can do to manage this. Slept ok 2 out of the last 10 nights. having really long periods awake some nights, despite being exhausted or having worked a 12 hour day. Suffered for years from age 13 to about 3 years ago with chronic insomnia, God knows how I managed, I have got used to being able to sleep better over the last couple of years and this sucks!
Been feeling sick for about a week, the only thing that helps is eating Grin

Foodylicious · 07/10/2013 19:52

just eaten half a packet of jaffa cakes and a fudge, there are a few left, anyone want one?

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/10/2013 19:57

Depends on whether everyone else is sharing or not thunder! Might keep them tight to my chest for now and share if I still like them in a few weeks' time...

Foody you poor thing. I also couldn't sleep for the first few weeks, woke up every few hours for ages. I still wake up every few hours but now it's just for a wee and a stumble back to bed, the long stretches of insomnia have gone so hopefully you'll get back to a better night's sleep soon. Have you tried any night-time teas at all?

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 07/10/2013 19:57

Oooh, me me me for a jaffa cake! Biscuit

OP posts:
Thundercatsarego · 07/10/2013 20:09

I'm happy to share but may totally out me. Would do on a group pm on FB....

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/10/2013 20:12

Ooooooh that might have to be done! I'm so nosy...

OP posts:
BlindKitty · 07/10/2013 20:23

We have 5 friends who are going to pop before us. We're praying no one will choose our names as we're 95% using them!

Thundercatsarego · 07/10/2013 20:29

I can't find midwife prog. Is it on tonight? Thought it might have been tues last week

Foodylicious · 07/10/2013 20:32

what channel?

PuppyMummy · 07/10/2013 20:47

Midwives is on ch2 9pm I think
its on my sky+ will watch tomorrow when oh working late!

merk my oh is hoping for a girl cos we dont really like any boys ones! I have one favourite but he doesnt love it! - not that we r making decisions like that yet! (but may hav indulged in a teeny discussion about it, in the name of positive thinking)!!

disclaimer: we will obviously be extremely happy with any variety of real live baby!!!

MotherOfCleo · 07/10/2013 20:54

merk discussing baby names was what got us through months of ttc Grin we had basically decided before we even got pregnant. Confused My OH had horrendous ideas though....I had no idea we were so poles apart until then.

Thundercatsarego · 07/10/2013 21:01

Oh there it is! BBC 2. Not sure oh will let me get away with this....

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/10/2013 21:03

Oh Mother same here! He came out with some hideous suggestions. And I mean really awful. Even the ones we've settled on aren't what I would have chosen if left to my own devices, but they were the only ones one of us didn't totally loathe!
