if one more person tells me to eat a ginger biscuit I will punch them in the face

Seriously. Whoever came up with that little gem that eating ginger biscuits or any form of ginger will help morning sickness was a liar.

I have tried on many occasions to eat one of the sodding biscuits when I am feeling queasy and every single time it makes me vomit or feel worse. Usually both.

So i'm saying it loud guys. I call bullshit on ginger

ive heard fresh lemon is good, as you chop the lemon in half, keep it in the fridge and then when you need it, you suck it and seems to work......someone on here tried it and it was successful.

Currently in the middle of nausea, no sickness yet but feeling constantly nauseous. My best friends, who have all been pregnant recently, keep telling me to eat ginger biscuits/drink ginger tea etc. etc. What is wrong with these people?!!

I'm hooked on tomato soup at the moment, totally addicted to it and it makes me feel better. Ginger is evil and I will punch the next person who suggests I eat/drink it!

I just ate a BK burger. Best thing ever, though normally don't like them!

I'm probably not a great person to ask as up to now (11+3) I really haven't had much to complain about with morning sickness... but on those few days I have felt a bit queasy I've tried the ginger biscuits, ginger ale and my particular favourite - tangy/sour haribo sweets!

I love anything with ginger in it so it wasn't a great hard ship but I'd be hard pushed to say whether it actually made me feel any better if I'm really honest. What I did find that helped massively though and has kept the nausea at bay has been to eat small and regular 'snack's mainly carb related from the moment I wake up and ensure that I don't let my stomach go empty or start feeling hungry. I had a couple of really bad days on days when I was really busy and left gaps between eating really long... then there didn't seem to be much going back after that :(

Again - I know that I haven't had it badly so it isn't going to be a fix for your poor souls that are struggling with actually being sick but it worked for me - so thought it was worth a share!

How did you get on at the dr's today abi?

I saw a nurse for my ms at noon; she gave me an injection of metoclopramide, and some tablets of the same stuff to start taking this evening. Have just read up thread that they don't work though Sad. Must say, so far Ive just slept and had diarrhoea Hmm.

Managed to eat half a slice of jam on toast, but still feel awful. Felt like this til wk 17 last time round, and am only about 7wks now, it's really getting me down already.

I've been bed bound for last two days; have you been going to work? I'm due to go back tomorrow (been on rest days/annual leave) but think I'll be calling in sick.

Hope our pills start to work soon Thanks

I don't have a job thankfully so can laze about in bed all day. I resorted to licking the flavour off Doritos last night because I wanted the taste of something nice haha Grin

with DS5 I used be sick then have chocolate icecream straight away, which made me feel soo much better.
I did this once in front of a "mrs. knows it all" who literally gasped and told me off that I shouldn't do that.
I told her that it helps.
she tried to give me a lesson but I just shrugged my shoulders.

at which point her childless single daughter chimed in. WTF?!
I'm glad the ice cream was blocking my mouth so I couldn't tell her to fuck off and stop giving me as she has no idea.

I only had 'proper' morning sickness with my fourth baby. If I had had it with my first baby I think she might have been an only child Sad

Nothing helped me. I felt like throwing up all day long for about 16 weeks and ten, all of a sudden, it just stopped. I was doing the ironing at the time and it was as though someone had flicked a switch.

Ginger biscuits didnt work although I am usually rather partial to them.

Hope you feel better soon OP. Flowers

Cyclizine working yet Abi? I went back to the GP yesterday and she referred me to the EPU at our local hospital I cried with relief

Spent the day there hooked up to IV fluid (3ltrs in total) and got a couple of Stemetil injections which helped loads. Got home last night with a packet of Cyclizine, and am going back this morning for a scan.

Hope you're feeling better.

Ah yay! Grin I'm just back from the EPU again and we too saw our little bean! Am 7+1 today - how far along are you?

These Cyclizine are making me really giddy, going to persevere over the weekend (bed rest) and if I'm still not getting on with them on Monday I'm going back to my GP to demand Stemetil!

Ooh. Hope they stop making you giddy. That doesn't seem like much fun :(

I feel woozy, dizzy, nervous and like I'm on another planet. But can eat and drink, which is the main thing I guess. Just feel like I can't drive, work or look after the toddler, which isn't particularly practical!

Ah, the 12wk scan, how lovely. I'm wishing away the next five weeks. Christmas-ish baby for you then Smile

AbiElizabeth · 07/06/2013 19:38

yeah they're making me feel like that too actually. think I would rather be throwing up!

yeah December 19th apparently but we shall see haha. first time babies have a habit of wanting to stay put Grin

I know what you mean about wishing the weeks away. the first trimester is so boring. nothing happens and you just feel ill. you cant tell anyone or get too excited either. it's felt like an eternity getting to 12 weeks

Hello. First time on the website for me. 7 weeks with my first and horrible morning, afternoon and evening sickness. Tried ginger biscuits, which didn't work. But after first visit to midwife on Thursday she recommended tonic water, which normally I hate. BUT.... it works, at the moment, feeling quite a bit better and not been sick since trying it. Digestive biscuits help, and making sure I nibble at plain snacks every half hour or so. Big thing that is working for me is making sure I have, as others are saying, a stash of biscuits by the bed and not attempting to get up until I have nibbled some. Let's hope we all find something that works xxxxxxxx

I felt like punching anyone that mentioned ginger biscuits to me when I was pg as if it were a miracle cure. People genuinely Hmm Shock when I told them I had tried this and it hadn't worked.

Nothing worked for me, sorry. But rest, sleep, trying to limit stress, getting up in the morning very slowly, eating little and often and whatever I could managed (there was a few weeks when I lived on jam sandwiches and salt and vinegar crisps), wearing those travel sickness bands, and anti emetics I was prescribed by my GP all helped as much as anything could. I still felt like death for most of my pg though (sorry). Just take it a day at a time and don't overdo it. Good luck.

slinky cyclizine did that to me too. Give it a few days and it'll go but I was really spaced out and odd the first few days.
