Seriously. Whoever came up with that little gem that eating ginger biscuits or any form of ginger will help morning sickness was a liar.

I have tried on many occasions to eat one of the sodding biscuits when I am feeling queasy and every single time it makes me vomit or feel worse. Usually both.

So i'm saying it loud guys. I call bullshit on ginger

Have you tried a rice cracker first thing in the morning?

seeker · 31/05/2013 12:19

Have you tried fresh ginger tea? Steep grated fresh ginger in boiling water, and put a spoonful or to in ordinary tea.

neversleepagain · 31/05/2013 12:20

Nothing really worked for me. I was sick just about everyday until 16 weeks and a few times a week until 32 weeks. I could only eat toast, it was the only thing that made me feel slightly better.

I agree, the ginger biscuits thing is a pile of crap.

AbiElizabeth · 31/05/2013 12:21

I can only imagine ginger tea to be horrible. I don't like any other tea apart from proper tea.

A rice cracker? no I have not but i'll give it a go. Can't be worse than ginger biscuits...

Honestly- try ginger tea. You can blame me if you don't like it, which will be therapeutic in itself.

MisselthwaiteManor · 31/05/2013 12:26

Ginger tea is vile. I tried ginger lemon and mango tea. Ginger lemon and mango is not a fun combination when you already feel nauseous.

kelda · 31/05/2013 12:26

Nothing worked for me either. People would say 'but how do you know when you haven't tried it'

because even the thought of it makes me want to puke, that's why.

Really nothing cured morning sickness for me, apart from childbirth.

seeker · 31/05/2013 12:27

No- it's real tea with fresh ginger added. It's lovely.

kelda · 31/05/2013 12:27

To be honest the thought of ginger tea makes me feel a bit sick even now. And I'm not even pregnant.

OKnotOK · 31/05/2013 12:30

Ginger biscuits worked for me!!? (only me then!)

Have you tried arrowroot biscuits?

runs from everyone who thinks ginger biccys are crap

NeedsAHome · 31/05/2013 12:31

Hula hoops.

DuttyWine · 31/05/2013 12:34

Marmite and drink soda water

Daisy17 · 31/05/2013 12:34

You see, they worked for me! So I suggest it to people. Because it might help....

sprite25 · 31/05/2013 12:34

I never liked ginger biscuits anyway but tried them plus ginger ale to try and help, they didn't and now even just the words make my stomach turn. Hated hearing the constant list of things people kept telling me to eat/drink/do that would help, I just rolled my eyes at them as I had already tried everything and none of it worked.

Daisy17 · 31/05/2013 12:35

As did melon, strangely. You could try that instead?!

kelda · 31/05/2013 12:40

Oh I love ginger biscuits normally. Just not during pregnancy.

YonicTheHedgehog · 31/05/2013 12:44

Sea bands worked for me. Ginger biscuits not so much.

Lydia161290 · 31/05/2013 12:47

Different things work for different women!

I was told to try dry biscuits like rich tea, ginger and ginger tea. Vomited up the lot and have gone off tea completely via pregnancy (haven't touched a cup)

My blessing in disguise for MS was soda water and Jacob's crackers!

AbiElizabeth · 31/05/2013 12:51

i have discovered icelollys help slightly but if I eat anything even slightly resembling a meal it comes straight back up. I couldn't even handle toast this morning.

fuzzywuzzy · 31/05/2013 12:59

I tried ginger, accupressure bands, eating little and often, resting loads, drinking teaspoons of flat pepsi.

For morning sickness it doesn't help altho I wore the seasickness bands for around 6 months as I think the psychosomatic effects helped.

sickness remedies work....for bugs and viruses, not so much pregnancy induced sickness imo,

katemeister · 31/05/2013 13:03

Ha ha, I feel very similar to OP when someone mentions a ginger biscuit. Or "make sure you eat as soon as you wake up" tried it, puked half way through a rich tea biscuit into the bin by my bed this morning. I think that is what is so frustrating - it's so different for each individual!

cathpip · 31/05/2013 13:04

Anything that tasted of ginger made me vomit as well:)

VisualiseAHorse · 31/05/2013 13:06

Same here - bloody ginger!

I would get some biscuits (whatever you fancy - I had a thing for Tuc cheese biscuits!) and stash them next to the bed. Eat a couple in the morning before even lifting your head off the pillow.

AbiElizabeth · 31/05/2013 13:08

everyone just seems so sure that their method will work and when I tell them it didn't work I am apparently doing it wrong.

My dad popped in this morning and asked how I was doing and if the biscuits he got me were helping. I told him they were making me worse and he said I was apparently eating them wrong Hmm How on earth do you eat a biscuit wrong?! I told him he could take the biscuits with him when he left and he called me ungrateful and said they worked for my mother. I just said good for her and closed the door in his face haha.

I didn't fancy ginger biscuits - the only thing that worked for me was 2 pieces of toast (sometimes with jam sometimes just butter) in the morning to help the nausea subside. One piece wasn't enough!

Is hard tho, like someone else said what works for one person...
