Wow Almond time flies! It is d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g for me since I found out. I'm 7 weeks and mostly waiting for it to go wrong. trying to be positive without actually planning ahead at all is a hard act to pull off. Hadn't told anyone apart from DH in real life until yesterday when a friend asked me directly. The next couple of weeks are when it's gone wrong for me previously so it is good to know she'll have the boys if necessary. I'm quite calm though, I think I've accepted there isn't a damm thing I can do to influence the outcome. I found out yesterday that they do £70 private scans at a very local GP clinic. I 'm very tempted to go without telling DH as 12 weeks seems an age away. I have had a positive scan at 8 weeks before then lost the baby at 10, so I don't know if it will reassure me.

Congrats to all of you! It's nervous times I know, first trimester was challenging for me (especially combined with lots of fun problems too) but am now 19 weeks and getting kicked periodically so hoping for the best.

! I've seen you on the pregnancy forums and thanks for your comments on finding out what we're having! We've decided not to! Got 20 wk scan at 19 weeks so week after next! I can't feel any movement yet...really hope I do soon as it will help me feel like its real!!

Baking - yeah to 7 weeks! I found the first tri very hard. Felt awful the whole time, lots if cramps and felt like the whole time it was going to go wrong. Felt better at 12 week scan but I don't think my fear will go completely until the bambino arrives!! Fx you will be fine!

Hi Baking 20week scan next Tuesday. Nerves haven't kicked in yet, tho found 12-16 weeks very hard with no indications that everything was ok. Now I can feel junior kicking it makes it a lot easier to just go with the flow and try and relax.

It's a tough call about reassurance scans - I was in the middle of panicking deciding about needing one when the sickness really kicked in and I landed in hospital with an unrelated problem (tho was probably caused by being pregnant). I was so ill I was almost too exhausted to consider a reassurance scan.

Once the worst was over the two weeks from booking-in to scan were absolute torture, but I reasoned that some people see a heartbeat before 12 weeks then go onto suffer MC after anyway and in the end I would gain nothing by knowing - and indeed lose a big chunk of money. But that was my choice. If it would help you relax and you can afford it, go for it.

Hey Almond! I had a realllllly long spell away from MN when ill over Xmas and New Year and felt bad about flouncing back onto the TTC threads so it's lovely to see people graduating over here

I think I'm lucky that I can feel junior so soon - started around 16 weeks so I'm guessing I don't have an anterior placenta and can feel it especially when I sit down and at my desk at work - I think there's an Oxbridge summer baby in here yet lol

Brave what do the kicks feel like? Mini stabs? Think I might of had one but not sure!! Like you it was sat down at my desk...

The not knowing is half of the fun Almond but eventually it becomes really obvious. I'd describe it as like someone gently flicking you with a finger like a child would with a bogey, but from the inside. Feels quite 'muffled' at first, but they have got more regular and both harder and bigger - ie from a finger size to an elbow-size nudge occasionally. Took me a week to realise that I wasn't imagining it and it wasn't wind! They can feel quite similar to wind bubbles but there is a distinction... hard to explain!

I'm 12 weeks. With twins.

Have my nhs dating scan on the 8th March and I couldn't wait for it so had a private scan last week. All fine and both the right size and with the right appendages.

We've ended up telling a lot of people even though I regret it now. I'd be so devastated that I'd need people to know anyway. I hate telling people. I feel like I always follow up with a disclaimer!!

I'm 16+1 more or less. Got through the first trimester despite being worried all the time.
I've been feeling flutters for a few weeks and got actual movement for the first time today. This is baby number two so it is supposed to be earlier when you feel it.
I have such a bump already and heartburn, indigestion and constipation (tmi?) but so happy to be here and not ttc anymore.

Fingers crossed the next few weeks go smoothly Baking.
And wow twins Diet, how exciting! Do you already have kids?

Betty if everything goes okay then they will be DCs 1 and 2. Veer between worrying about something going wrong with the pregnancy and wondering how I'll cope!

Baking, I would go for the reassurance scan, even if the worst should happen at least it may help to calm your mind for a week or so. I went for a private scan at 6wks just for reassurance, had 12wk recently & still sticking fingers in my ears & going 'lalala' about being pregnant.

16+4 weeks here, been feeling movements for about 4 weeks now & have a proper bump (DC2 for us), low iron so I'm on iron tablets & eating lots of meat & greens.

I read on another board, from a lady who had multiple losses...that no matter how she felt about the pg she always wanted people to know she was pregnant so the baby would feel loved no matter how long she was carrying it for.

GaryBuseys thanks. And thanks for posting that. It made me a bit teary, but it's lovely, and it made me feel a lot better about having told people.

I had some spotting yesterday. Not a lot, but enough to convince me it's all going wrong again Serves me right for being positive and starting a pregnancy thread. Anyway, there's not a thing I can do about it, I will have a scan next week if it hasn't obviously progressed to a MC by then. Whatever happens, I'm really glad to see you all reacquainted and chatting again.

Tins massive hugs, but try to stop worrying. I had light brown discharge for about ten days at 6 weeks. I was very pragmatic, and accepted there was nothing I could do to change the outcome. That helped in a way, even though there were lots of tears. Any pain? Pain should come before bleeding if it's going 'that way' apparently. Be kind to yourself lovely, take each day as it comes, and get that scan booked so you have a date to focus on getting to rather than just worrying about the spotting.

Oh, and by the way, you haven't jinxed anything. Impossible. Promise.

I know it can be fine. I've had this with my DS2, and in fact had full on bleeding on and off for about 6 weeks and he's fine, but it has also been the way both my MC have started, so to my mind it's a Bad Sign. I don't really believe in jinxing things, just that I've been trying to ignore being pregnant and then the minute I have to make some plans, it all starts to go pear shaped. I know there is nothing I can do to change what happens, I'm going to carry on regardless. DH is working away today then I have to work the next 4 days so there is no chance of getting a scan before next Tuesday anyway and then only if I go to EPU, so I think I'll wait it out until the Thursday.

Baking so sorry to hear about the spotting. How are you doing today? It's scary I know but many many women experience spotting of some description, especially around the time they would have been due for AF. If you're really worried, can you call EPU for some advice and reassurance?

Thanks everyone. Hasn't got worse today. I did phone EPU, hoping that since I'm a frequent flyer and already on their system they'd just say I can go in next week, but no, I need another GP referral. I can't go until next week anyway, DH working away and I have school run to do and it's a first come first served thing, if you are not at the head of the queue before they open then forget it - they often send people away after they've waited for the 2 hours they open and tell them to come back tomorrow

Can anyone take the kids to school for you one morning Baking?
I've really got everything crossed for you. I told pretty much everone I was pg when I saw them. I found that being open about the mc was easier for me than pretending everything was ok and a lot of my friends with kids have been through much worse so I just told them. I waited to tell my students (I teach English to adults, I live in Spain) until after the 12 wk scan.

Diet I'm sure you'll cope just fine with twins. It'll be tiring at first, as it is with one, but I have a few friends with twins and they are all doing just fine. I'm also wondering how I'm going to cope with a three year old and a newborn but am also just so excited about it!

I can't wait to stop working but still got a couple of busy months to go!!

Baking sorry to hear about your spotting. I really hope that everything is fine for you. It is horrible feeling 1 minute that everything is ok and then to have that.

Betty I am already counting down the months until mat leave!! What is everyone thinking? I have been told I am likely to have a prem baby so I think I might try having 2 weeks hols then 2 weeks mat leave before my due date and hope I get some rest before the arrival.

Is anyone else huge already? I am quite petite (5ft 2) and look massive. I have been eating a lot but I have a big firm bump and huge boobs (I had to buy a size 18 bikini top today for holiday next week !!!).

In an ideal world I'd work as long as I could but I have a 2 hour round trip commute so realistically it'll depend on how long I can fit behind the wheel.

I've got some annual leave to carry over from this year so am going to save next year's up and tag it on to my maternity leave so I can get paid as long as possible. I'm really hoping the mw was trying to scare me when she said I might struggle after 28 weeks.

As for bumps - I think I have one, but sometimes I think I'm just fat!

Sorry not posting much I never seem to stop!
My sis is coming to visit me on Weds, I can't wait for her to see the bump! I suppose I won't get to UK now before baby is born which is crap.

I am self employed so my maternity leave will be a bit different I think. We only get four months anyway in Spain but with dd I just didn't work much for at least a year and just taught the odd class.

My bump is pretty big now and I have been in maternity wear for ages. Im am just little too at less than 5ft. I was all bump with dd but am already gonna have to buy some bigger knickers this time!!

Are you all sleeping on your side? I'm tossing and turning all night at the moment.
