A place to carry on chatting after a BFP and support each other through the stressful bits. I hope to see many new graduates appearing....

Yay for all our imminent new graduates!! This Friday system they've got going on seems to be working a treat!

Bod thank you! I'm trying to be rational (first time this pregnancy) and yes, they're in different sacs.

Work is a nightmare at the moment. Have just asked DH if I can hand my notice in. Wonder what the response to that will be...! I'm a manager and my team have been told yesterday their jobs are at risk of redundancy because of changing business needs. Spent most of today and yesterday in tears and just don't want to be here.

Bodicea · 15/03/2013 16:15

dietcoke that sounds a horrible thing to have to deal with. Do you think you might consider leaving. Two babies is a lot deal with. Although it might be worth hanging on I there for the mat leave x

Hi all anda might be worth working out how likely you are to go back to that job after the twins are here, childcare is going to be pretty high for two ( maybe bring that into the conversation with DH!) also could you maybe take voluntary redundancy?

Nothing to report here, apart from mega stressful time with sick DH, sick DD and now sick dog, meant to be going away next week for a desparately needed break but looking unlikely that the kennels will take the dog, could anything just be simple ever!

Report
andadietcoke · 15/03/2013 19:35

Fortunately I'm very lucky and have a very well paid job, and as I earn considerably more than DH it will always be financially viable for me to go back to work, even with twins in childcare. So predictably, DH said no.

I had been told I'd be able to avoid the exceptionally stressful meetings, but actually the reverse is happening and the CEO is seemingly putting me into meetings that I don't need to legally be in, perhaps to protect other managers that will still be there after I'm on maternity leave? I don't know. So if I can't opt out of meetings, my only option to avoid all of this would be to get signed off with stress which isn't really in my DNA. Argh.

Congrats Janie!! Welcome aboard. Lovely to hear about all the BFPs.

After the shock of being told about the early arrival I am now trying to sort my mat leave out. It's very hard to decide when to go...got 2 weeks hols to take so thinking of having that week 31-32 and starting mat leave wk 33. Feels do early!!Shock Decisions, Decisions!!

thanks almond! got everything crossed!

bodicea i hope you don't mind me picking your sonographer brains... i am a bit ahead of myself but i'm just trying to work out my due date - ish. all the online calculators seem to measure your due date by the LMP date and base it on a 28 day cycle...although my cycles are 46 days so they're dating me as 6 weeks pg which i know can't be right.

also, did you guys keep up any exercise during early pg? i've been doing 2 spin / body combat classes each week but worried it might be too intense. i was doing it to lose weight and also doing slimming world and i really would like to keep my fitness levels up so i don't turn into a complete slob!! i know weight gain is inevitable but i've done so well to lose 2 stone i would love to try my best so it's easier on the other side (if all goes to plan obv!)

Report
Bodicea · 16/03/2013 18:11

Janie at our hospital we take the due date based on the LMP unless there is more than 7 days difference either way from the date worked out at the scan. In which case the scan date trumps the LMP date. I am not sure if it is the same everywhere.
If you are not having any early scans and you are arranging the date for your 12 weeks scan count two weeks back from when your period was due and then 12 weeks from that date. Does that make sense? But only if you are very sure that baby is not a far on as they think as you don't want to miss the window for your nuchal test ( that's if you are having one).
If you get an early scan then that should make things a bit clearer so you can make sure NT/dating scan is at right time.
I am sure that is clear as mud Smile

Sorry I didnt answer your main question - to work out your due date count two weeks back from when your period was due and count that as your LMP

Report
JanieLovesCake · 16/03/2013 18:20

ah thanks bodicea that does make sense, thank you. i'm hoping i might try to get an early scan if possible due to my complications last time when they misdiagnosed with a molar pg after the d&c. it was in fact lots of watery cysts rather than a partial molar so i'm not sure if the gp might take that into consideration if i beg for an early scan. this is still not properly sinking in. one hlf of me is dancing, the other is totally petrified

Yay Janie!! Welcome! I can't believe how many successes there are from the thread over the last two weeks!

Bodicea · 16/03/2013 18:49

Janie - I am sure the GP will think that's fair enough as you have been messed around. If not cry and stamp your feet. That usually does the trick for me xxxx

Janie with regard to exercise I was doing quite a bit before I got pregnant (netball/gym). I felt fine until about 7 weeks then the dreaded morning sickness kicked in. I wasnt sick but felt like I had the hangover from hell and on the verge of puking all the time. This lasted until 14 weeks for me Sad. So...long story short I would maybe ease off on the non-contact stuff and just see how you feel. I also found from 10 weeks ish my hips had loosened up and I hurt my back by overdoing things. The best advice would be to listen to your body and consider switching to swimming or something less impact which is still good cardio?

hey anda hope you're doing well with your twins!! how exciting!! and i think there have been 7 or 8 bfps over the last 2 weeks! there must be something in the water :)

thanks for the advice almond yes i definitely don't want to overdo it. i might start walking on my lunch break...i was thinking about walking to work each morning but if morning sickness kicks in then that's that idea bucked out the window!

off to a friend's tonight for takeaway and ryan gosling movie! she'll be wondering why i'm not having wine! ah well pear and elderflower is way nicer anyway. wine...yuk trying to convince myself

have a good night ladies, xxx

Hey janie I was doing slimming world too and I've lost just over a stone in 5 weeks :) I don't particularly want to carry on going as £5 a week is a bit of a waste if your weight is going up! But... I can't seem to go back to normal eating! I know the slimming world diet isn't bad for you but I'm losing 3-4 pounds a week still. Are you going to carry on going?

Big wave to everyone else

andadietcoke · 16/03/2013 22:22

bumpkitty I was told at my booking in appt to go to slimming world, and they have a maternity version endorsed by the royal college of midwives. As I've not had the luxury of being that choosy about what I can eat over the last month or so I haven't got there yet, but as the nausea/sickness is subsiding I might try this week. I have it in my pregnancy notes that I've discussed it with my midwife and she's happy for me to go (I think the SW leaders want you to have talked to a HCP about it).

Well done though - a stone in 5 weeks is brilliant Grin

Hey all. Looks like this one may be a sticky one so I am going to stop lurking. Just got my 3+ on a digi and now 5 weeks, so I'm trotting over to join this Fred.
Milestone number 1 passed. Now for milestone number 2 at 8 weeks.
Love that this Fred is here. Am so not brave enough to joing the november Fred (have you seen how big it is?!) so am settling here for now if that's okay.

How's everyone doing? :)

Oh ibip I just got a bit teary! You and those blimmin CB digis! I never got round to doing mine as was too chicken shit but I'm so pleased for your 3+. If only they went higher than that (but then you'd be bankrupt!!).

Hopefully your GP will refer you for an early scan in a couple of weeks and that will help too. If not, the private scan option was great, but wait as long as you can so you get more out of it. DH was shocked at the difference in information between my dating scan and the private scan (for obvious reasons - they don't have the luxury of time and have to report so many more measurements) so was actually pleased we paid for a scan in the end because she showed us the cord blood going in and pumping around and little things like that. So even though it seems like a luxury to ease your anxiety, there are other benefits too.

For now, yaaaaaaaay! Very happy to have you here Grin

Yeah IBIP!! So great to see you here!! I couldn't face the other threads either! I had the same milestones, 5 wks, 8 wks, 12 wk scan, 14 wks and now I'm 20 wks! I think it's the best way to approach it. Xxx

IBelieveInPink · 17/03/2013 08:34

Thanks dietcoke. Made me a little teary too!

Im actually kinda glad the digis don't go above 3+. I despise clearblue and their profiteering ways (even though I can't stay away from their sticks) so will be happy not to have to give them any more money hopefully!

Gonna go and get pg pack from docs tomorrow. Meep.

I had heard that about private. I would love to just book it in and go for it, but DH is tight careful with money, so will have to wait and see.
And until then, sit very still and think growing thoughts!! :)

Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

hi ibip i popped in here too!

and thanks for the pm bod i might have replied twice by accident as i tried on my phone and then on computer as it didn't seem to have sent.

i'll probably keep going to SW for a bit as i don't want to stop straightaway in case things don't work out. but yeah i don't want to pay to put on weight! but if i can get another few weeks out of it then i'd be delighted. my diet was pretty healthy before i started, it was all the wee chocolatey treats etc and booze. haven't drunk the last couple of weekends and managed to lose so maybe that'll keep going! never managed the 3 or 4lb losses though, wish i did. always just 1 here, 1.5 there.

Happy St. Patricks Day from Ireland everyone :)
