A place to carry on chatting after a BFP and support each other through the stressful bits. I hope to see many new graduates appearing....

Bod- my friend has had to do that all the way through her pg. she gets scared too, but keeps thinking of the result at the end of it!

Ooh bod that's great that your scan went well! How many weeks are you now? And now that you mention it, I know that saliva thing you're having...I think...unless I'm now imagining it too!! Good luck with the needles, I hope it gets easier each time :)

Just watched the new series of the syndicate, was really good. If only we could win the lottery, I think I'd buy a time machine to 12 weeks Smile night night all, x

And I really shouldn't be googling dopplars (they look amazing!)...or maternity dresses for a July wedding...or maternity pyjamas. Getting a bit ahead of myself here!!

Yay Betty, sounds like you deserve a good nights sleep Smile

Ooh hello, I've just realised that I am a laura ashley graduate! Marking place and will have a scan through. I haven't posted much since I got my BFP as I wasn't quite sure where to go. Lovely to see some friendly nicknames. x

Thanks guys for being So nice. i am sure will get used to needles soon.

Waves to posy how far along are you?

Can I just recommend that everyone stays away from the dopplers they are v bad!!!

janie can't really date it yet but looking more like my mumsnet date of 18th than lmp date of 16th which is a I expected.

shell what are maternity pjs like. I've got some cotton nightys is with a support bit in the boob area from bravissimo they are super comfy and think will be great later on as I imagine won't want any kind of waist band near the bump.

So gettig ahead of myself and thinging about later on. my friend is getting mArried in October - not sure of exact date yet and hen do is some time in September. Hen do About a 3-4 hour drive away and wedding more like a 2 hour drive. That's doable right?
Also was planning a week away on south coast in September. Is that a bad idea now. Should I do it earlier - was trying to avoid school hols.

Just done a bit of reading back, so before I forget everything:

Bod congrats on the scan! I would be dreadful if I had a doppler on hand. When is the baby due? I declined a hen do at about 36 weeks last time, and didn't go to the wedding as it was 5 days after my DD was born. But I probably would have been fine with the hen do tbh, in retrospect.

diet congrats on the twins! Wow. How far along are you now? Has it sunk in yet? (apols if it's old news!)

almond glad all is going well - maternity leave is in sight now! Sorry to hear about your kidney problem. Hope you can hold off the c-section for as long as poss, but I am glad that it's been spotted and that you have a plan in place.

I can't remember who asked about exercise but I have just been trying to walk a lot and have done a pregnancy dvd a few times. But last time I was pregnant I did too much early on and developed bad hips, so I took it easy in the first trimester (when I felt dreadful anyway!)

I also wondered about slimming world. Can you actually join when you are pregnant then? I just don't want to put on too much weight as I have also lost a lot since having DD and don't want to go back to square one!

Betty whereabouts are you in Spain? (jealous!)

Nice to 'see' you all Smile

Bod great scan news, I really think the injections could become second nature in a few weeks. I say do anything and everything you can fit in before due date. You'll need things to look forward to otherwise the last slog can drag! I worked pretty much right up to due date with DC1, and then drummed my fingers just waiting as she was a week late. Your body will let you know if you can't do it Grin

Bod - I agree with garden. You can always pull out nearer the time if you can't face it!

Just got my midwife appointment through. Not for ages! 11th April. What's more I asked the lady on the phone if I could have anything it the way of a scan sooner, 2 mcs etc etc. not a chance. Pah. So looks like I will be going private unless I go crying to docs. Hmm not sure what to do now.

Report
BumpKitty · 20/03/2013 14:36

Oh ibip sorry the mw was so unhelpful, is the private option doable for you? It's £79 near me but I'm more worried about the fact it's not a dr doing it just some amateur set up. Hmmmm

bod I went to a hen weekend in oct when due with my DD in Dec, it was fine but someone else drove me. The more interesting bit was the wedding itself, I was 6 days overdue and decided to go anyway, my waters broke during the ceremony but I had DD the next day. I probably wouldn't do that again!

Report
GardenWorm · 20/03/2013 16:01

Ha ha Bump Grin. Pah to your MW ibip - I've pretty much resigned myself to fact that I will be paying for a scan. Don't want to make a midwife appt as last time I had my MC the next day - silly I know. I have found a place in Kent that has an ex NHS consultant doing the scan, costs about £90 but I figure if there is something wrong he may at least throw some free pointers in as to what I should do next.

shellshock7 · 20/03/2013 16:35

bod last time mine were strappy vest tents tops with extra boob support and the pants were under the bump...could just wear normal PJ bottoms I suppose Smile

I did loads when massively PG last time...went to a gig at 38 weeks, it's up to you really Smile

Sorry abt your MW appt pink that private scan is looking more likely then?

Ha ha bump I bet that was eventful!!

garden I know what you mean, it's like tempting fate....I've got a wedding on Sat and booked into an £80 hotel room, gonna cancel and drive but not until the last minute just in case it all goes wrong before then and I'm sure to want a drink Confused

Bodicea · 20/03/2013 18:26

PinkI can't believe they won't give you a scan after 2 mc's. that is ridiculous, talk about postcode lottery. Soft at our place, scan for anything and everything. Just tell them your bleeding ( don't say I said that)!

bump that is hilarious. Hope you didn't upstage the bride.?! My issue with hen do is no one to drive me - token northerner going to see southern Uni pals. Hmmm may look a trains. Actually just looked will not be a far as thought. Should be ok. Talk about getting ahead of self!

bump i'm sorry i had to laugh! that must have been eventful to say the least!

that's annoying about your mw appointment pink. how mant weeks will you be by then?

at posy! welcome! how far on are you now? it was me that was talking about excerise and sw. i'm not sure about joining when pg. they have a 7 day plan on their website which might be worth a nosey. basically it's just about cutting out the crap and cooking most stuff from scratch using health ingredients. i don;t think i'll tell them i'm pg just yet...i think i'll buy the 6 weeks for the price of 5 next week just to keep me going for a while, then i'll play it by ear if it's worth carrying on while pg (and if this bebby sticks of course). let me know how you get on if you do join, would be interesting to hear what they say.

bod trains are way more fun - you can read cheesey magazines, sleep, eat and there's a loo!! but nice to drive too so you can just head off when you feel like it.

Well I did it. Talk about going the whole hog. Just phoned up to enquire how busy they are and ended up booking an appointment! Oops :)

So early scan date set. 12th apr, day after mw appointment.

Garden- I know what you mean I mc 2 days after mw appointment on the 1st mc. But I want to make sure I am definitely 'in the system' if that makes sense. They seem to be quite strict here on the no help before 3 mcs thing, so of it does go wrong I want them to know about it!!!

Bod- I know right! I would- but I am silly and superstitious about that kinda thing, so don't want to make it up. Besides, £70 is a lot but not the end of the world. I have spent more on a night out before!!

Bump- please, more info about waters breaking at wedding. Was it as amusing as it sounds? :)

And Janie - hi! Will be 8+4 at mw appointment, and 8+5 at early scan. So both will be beyond 8 weeks which is the furthest I have got to before! Eeek.

Hi Janie thanks for the tip about the 7 day plan, will have a shifty!

I might ask my midwife about it too. She knows I am trying to keep my bp down so maybe she'll endorse my joining. Some good advice my midwife gave me was to keep healthy snacks on you during the first trimester to curb the nausea, like crackers and dried fruit or a sandwich. I tried to do that but also raided the cheese at times I'm 19 weeks now so my nausea has gone and I am eating a bit more normally.

Glad you've a scan booked pink. It's good to have milestones to aim for!

Ok, so as I say I was 6 days late, drove 1.5 hours to ceremony, all sat down in lovely stately home, official says all stand for the bride I stand up and gush all over my tights, quietly say to DH ' I think my waters have broken' he looked terrified and said are you joking and I said no. We actually stayed for the ceremony as there wasn't that much waters! Then I shuffled out and changed my tights and called the hospital, as there wasn't any contractions they said it wasn't too urgent but to have something to eat then pop in in the next 5 hours. So we stayed for the photos and meal all the while strangers asking me about my waters, then the snow started so we drove to the hospital ( contracting by now) arrived with DH in his posh suit and me in my heels much to the staff's amusement. Checked over and sent home, went back in by 8pm ( serious blizzard by then) and had DD at 2.57am :)
And to think, I was meant to be a bridesmaid Grin

Hi Posy. Congrats and welcome. Long time no see! What is you dd? I'm pretty sure you can join in with me and Gary in our race. I'm due on/around 13th Aug.

I think lots of regular healthy meals/snacks is the best thing you can do. I've been carrying lots of fruit and wholegraun biscuits with me so I can't pig out on crisps etc. I am getting terrible heartburn now and feel like everything I eat has been dipped in bleach. That'll help me not to overeat!! I bf dd until she was 29 months (the month I got pg and it stuck) and that definitely helped me lose all my baby weight (that wasn't my reason for extented bf).

Haha Kitty what a story!!

Anyway nught girls x

Ha bump that's awesome!! Hope you didn't ruin your pretty dress!! Fair play to you for staying on fur the rest of the wedding! Please don't do the stuck in a lift trick this time!! I'm getting claustrophobic just thinking about it! My friends waters broke in sainsburys last month when she was on her own (a week early!)
