Well I know what you're saying, I quite agree. It's not really the paternity leave that is the problem though. It's the 2nd week that's the problem, as he's taking it as holiday he doesn't really have any rights over it.. He can say that he's not going on paternity leave before baby is born and that it could start any day of the week but when we get to the 2nd week they can just ask him to cancel his holiday and go back early and there's nothing he can do about it.

If I manage to go in to labour or be induced so that he can start his leave no later than Monday it won't be such a problem. He'll get his two weeks but will have to go in for one day (the fri of the second week) to do stock take. He'll then get a days holiday for that which he'll be able to take at a later date. It's really annoying but that would be the best scenario.

I told dh if he really wants to stand his ground he could book the first week as holiday and the second as paternity. Only problem with this is they might say its too little notice to change his paternity leave now. Of course his boss should really have been aware this situation would arise as he sent dh's form of ages ago and knew when stock take wasAngry

Ah I see. How frustrating! I was thinking paternity leave was two weeks but it is perhaps at the employers discretion after a week?

Oh jburge - yayayayayayayay! Not jealous at all here. Much. but yeeha for you and your ruined sofa!

Not much happening here - been a bit crampy all day but that's it. Feels like something has changed but nowt dramatic. A friend who is a retired midwife saw my dh today and said tell her I'll give her a sweep if she wants! But that would just be toooooooooo weird!!!!!

usedto paternity leave is two weeks but my dh only gets full pay for the first week so he's taken the second week as holiday do he doesn't miss any pay..

Whats everyone doing tomorrow? I think I need a little trip out to stop me feeling so down-just morning so I can still have a sleep before picking DD up. Maybe I need to get more for my labour bag so a little baby shopping may perk me up and remind me that this is not some awful thing that has been inflicted on me but a baby I want!

Well we called the hosp to tell them about Thr waters and they said we had to come in so they could confirm that they had def broken! I told them that I had been through two large bath towels and changed my clothes twice, but they said we still had to come in. So we went in and they checked baby heartbeat etc. They've said that if labour doesn't start by Thursday morning they'll induce me.
So now we're home and I need to get things going!! Sitting on ball with small glass of wind at moment!

Burge - they did that with me with DD. I went home (about 11pm) and had a bowl
Of porridge. Contractions 3 mins apart by 2am. Here's hoping same for you!!! Looks like a due date baby!!! Exciting!! Hope everythig goes smoothly xxxx

anyone still around? I am having an anxious evening and have just had to get up due to the baby wriggling around so much and it feels like it is banging on my cervix which is very sore still from the sweep. I am trying to only lie on my left and not on my back but the baby seems to hate it as it writhes aboout painfully as if trying to get out, first downwards then shifting up. I am being OTT but I am panicking the baby has no room or is going to get the cord round its neck with all that wriggling!

I have now got up which has helped a bit although I can feel a lot of pressure. Anyone elsegetting this wriggling up and down thing? It hurts! Also now getting crampy back pain so guessing its gone back to abck AGAIN!

I'm trying to sleep too usedtobe but just generally uncomfortable. Having stronger pains but not throng enough to bother thinking its the real thing, just stopping me getting comfy. Sigh.

same sort of thing then, rubbish isn't it? baby now has hiccups right near my cervix. If I am still in pain with it tomorrow I may ring the GP.

I feel like however I lie I am lying on the baby as it is everywhere!

I'm still here, contractions about 6.5 mins apart. Tried to sleep but they were more uncomfortable when I lay down. Sent DH to bed to get some rest. Hoping I'll have to wake him up again soon!
Not sure if I said this earlier but I was born on my due date, so looks like baby Burge might take after his Mummy!

Well....I'm still in hospital with no baby to cuddle :( My body just isn't doing what it should. Poor thing is fully engaged and ready to go but my stupid cervix and uterus won't let him so he's getting more and more stressed. Have had TWO failed inductions now.

Doctor is coming to see me soon. Wonder if they might suggest a c-section now cos this has gone on too long. Will let you know.

Good luck to everyone else, sorry I don't have a cheerier update, hopefully soon!

Still nothing happening here, felt slightly crampy before bed last night and allowed myself to get a little excited then, nothing! Feel so disheartened after my false start on sundaySad
