Hi all, just had my sweep and am very disappointed. MW said I am unlucky it hurt me as it usually doesn't hurt. And worse, that she would be very surprised if this baby comes as a result of the sweep Sad because my cervix was way up high (VERY posterior the notes say) cervix 50percent effaced whatever that means? And she tried to pull the cervix forward but wasn't convinced.

What on earth is this baby doing?! Tomorrow I will be back on the school run and I am dreading it.

Now got crampy pains for nothing.

DairyNips · 11/06/2012 17:40

usedto sorry your sweep was disappointing. Don't loose heart, things might not seem favourable right now but can change quickly. Crampy pains are good tooSmile

used2bthin · 11/06/2012 17:45

Thanks she said to not get excited at any pains or a bit of blood and discharge as its normal. Argh I can't believe that evening of pain did nothing on fri! And am wondering how I will cope with labour now as the false start was bad enough.

How are you doing any more pains?

Twittwooo · 11/06/2012 17:48

usedto - I know how you feel, my cervix was also described as very posterior when the MW attempted both sweeps, one at +8 and one today at +12. It's good that she was actually able to do a sweep for you, my MW wasn't able to because the cervix is so high. I believe things can change in a matter of hours, so hopefully things will improve for you. Do you have another sweep booked?

Alligatorpie · 11/06/2012 17:52

I am ( only ) 39+2, but need this baby out soon! We are vacationing overseas on July 4th and I need to register the birth and get a passport before then!

Every woman in my family has had babies early and dd was early, what is wrong with this one?

Congrats to those of you who have had your babies! I can't wait !

StarlightMaJesty · 11/06/2012 17:52

Oh hello. I dunno when I'm due. According to me it was Saturday just gone, according to scan it was last Tuesday.

So I'm either 40+2 or 40+6!

rrrayray · 11/06/2012 17:53

Hahaha. Yes I meant sex is so clumbersome I feel like a elephant. So named it elephant sex ;-)

Dont be too disheartened usedtobe, I think your midwife is being a little cautious that's all. My midwife said she didn't expect me to make tomorrow's appt..... And here I am, still pregnant. Where as sweep with DD I was posterior and it was bloody painful (last week wasn't) and waters went and labour started the day after the apparently rubbish sweep with DD. So chin up.... You might well surprise yourself.

dH wants to wait until after footie for elephant sex. Fair dos really, am amazed he even up for that!!!!

Sending labour vibes to one and all.

used2bthin · 11/06/2012 17:54

Thanks twitwoo and poor you, that must be so disheartening, why are these babies doing it?! I'm not sure how successful this was either she said she'd given it her best shot but it wasn't likely.

I have another booked on thurs afternoon, then she will book induction for the following week. She said hopefully thurs the sweep will do the trick but I feel like its never going to happen. Did you say you are booked for induction?

used2bthin · 11/06/2012 18:04

thanks rarayray. How disappointing that yours sweep seemed promising I am not sure what is worse. Keep x posting with everyone.

I am impressed at the sex, we had sex on fri (due date ) but DH had said the day before he didn't want to do that any more! Not that I will be letting him near there tonight as am in a fair bit of pain still but I am guessing that means sex is still ok after a sweep?

DairyNips · 11/06/2012 18:05

rrray Ha ha at elephant sex, just about sums it up! Not sure I'm brave enough to attempt any, feel so uncomfortable alreadyHmm

usedto No more pains for me since 7.30am. Lost more mucus plug though..

Got a sweep on wed if nothing has happened by then.. I hope it has but am
not holding my breath.

Twittwooo · 11/06/2012 18:31

Fingers crossed for Thursday usedto. I hope the sweep then is a success. I'm not booked in for induction, I've opted for monitoring instead as I really want to avoid induction if possible so I'm booked in for monitoring on Wednesday. Hopefully the consultant will have a chat with me to discuss the options. I'm thinking that if nothing is happening by the end of the week, as much as I don't want it, I will probably bite the bullet and go for induction because I don't want to take any risks either. Fingers crossed both babies come of their own accord soon! And good luck to everyone else awaiting sweeps, inductions and, most importantly, babies coming!

justwantcheese · 11/06/2012 18:46

Please can you add me, 40+ 5 and not even a tiny twinge.

JBurge · 11/06/2012 18:58

Does anyone have babies without induction anymore!!

Usedtobe don't lose heart about your sweep! Do you have any clary safe oil? If so get your OH to rub some (mixed with another oil) onto your bump and back!

EmilyD2012 · 11/06/2012 19:16

Has anyone else suddenly become very emotional? I've been fairly level throughout the pregnancy, but over the last few days I am crying all the time, most of the time I don't even know why!

DairyNips · 11/06/2012 20:14

Yes. I have cried twice todayHmm

McPhee · 11/06/2012 20:23

Yep, very emotional today

Three bouts of big tears. The latest one just half an hour ago whilst dressing the cot and moses basket.....sniff. Thankfully mum was about for a nice hug.

JBurge · 11/06/2012 20:25

Well I'm glad it's not just me then!!

Twittwooo · 11/06/2012 20:33

Me too .. been quite tearful over the last couple of days! I've also been fairly level headed throughout the pregnancy, but it's because of going so overdue and the prospect of being induced. At least we are not alone!!

JBurge · 11/06/2012 20:35

I'm sure the weather doesn't help! :(

McPhee · 11/06/2012 20:40

I'm normally ok too, then all of a sudden I'll have a day where the hormones just rush about Blush
