Hello ladies, we're FINALLY home from the hospital, after nearly a week (I don't have an iphone)!

After my mucous plug went last Tuesday morning, contractions started about 2.30pm. My waters broke at home at 11.30pm, and Francesca Marie was born at 10am the next morning (wed 6th) weighing 7lbs 15oz. I went into labour at 39+2, and she was born the next day, so sorry anyone who's overdue!

McKayz · 11/06/2012 20:47

Congratulations Silver What a lovely name!!

Not been too hormonal today. I nearly cried at play school when I was asked if I was still pregnant. But I managed to hold it in.

JBurge · 11/06/2012 20:52

I'm spending the day with my Mum tomorrow so I'm bound to be in tears at least once!

McPhee · 11/06/2012 20:52

Beautiful name

Congratulations Thanks

JBurge · 11/06/2012 21:00

And another thing......my baby's had hiccups 5 times today and it lasts about 30 mins each time!!
So annoying!!!

McKayz · 11/06/2012 21:02

I don't mind the hiccups so much, it is the bloody backside stuck in my ribs that gets on my nerves. Moooovvvvveeee!!!!

sewingandcakes · 11/06/2012 21:07

Hi, can I join too? I'm 40+2 with my 3rd boy, and getting fed up! Good to know I'm not alone xxx

McPhee · 11/06/2012 21:09

My baby is back to back, so all I get is the full force of the feet and knees non stop. How my ribs haven't been broken yet I don't know.

Awww the hiccups are cute...but 5 times?? Yeah I can see how that would get on your pip Grin

JBurge · 11/06/2012 22:08

I thought the hiccups were cute at first, but as he's got bigger they've got stronger and my whole bump moves with each one and it's everyday now.

I think I'm just over the whole pregnancy thing now to be honest!

congratulations silversage! And emily good luck! FWIW I was induced last time after my waters had meconium in and DDs heart rate dropped and all was ok.

hiccups are annoying me too, in fact everything is! Jburge I haven't got clarysage maybe I can get some tomorrow though is it a labour encourager?

twitwoo fingers crossed for you too. And dairy, got to happen for real at some point. Cramps from sweep have gone and I didn't even have a show.

JBurge · 11/06/2012 22:42

Apparently Clary Sage is supposed to help bring on contractions, and also help with pain relief so it's worth getting some for labour (when it finally happens!). You can put a few drops in the bath or as I said, mix it with another oil and rub it on the bump.
Apparently it also makes you feel a little bit high, but I'm not sure about that!

JBurge · 11/06/2012 22:43

I've also heard that some people put it on hanky to breath in during labour.

SilverSage · 11/06/2012 22:45

The night before I lost my plug I had a bath with about 15 drops of clary sage oil in. But that wasn't the 1st time I'd done it, and nothing happened any of the other times.

McKayz · 11/06/2012 22:47

I've been having 2 baths a day for a week with clary sage in. Not a thing has happened.

JBurge · 11/06/2012 22:48

Ah well it was a nice dream while it lasted :(

used2bthin · 11/06/2012 22:52

I will get some anyway, no harm in trying! If i am in less pain tomorrow I will go for a walk too. Other than the walk of shame to school that is.

EmilyD2012 · 12/06/2012 01:36

Thanks dairy, used2b and McKayz!

Not much to report, was given the first pesary at 8ish and since then have had a few tightenings but nothing major.

My water birth idea has gone out the window which is a shame but I am comfortable which is something. Baby's heart rate still a bit bonkers but the midwives here are all lovely and I'm calm (for now!)

To be honest I was expecting things to have progressed a bit by now but I think that was a bit naive of me....apparently this can be a looong process.

Will try to keep you posted. Hope everyone else is doing ok this evening :)

Hi ladies :)

Hope you don't mind me joining you on this thread (I'm 40+5)

I went for my first sweep yesterday. Bloody uncomfortable! Midwife said my cervix was soft, 1cm thick, 1cm dilated & stretchy. So going the right way I guess.. Had a bloody show after it which she said was promising. Got an appt for another sweep next Monday, if I don't go into labour, & then booked for induction next Tuesday.. Hopefully won't need either appt though. Fingers crossed anyway. Oh & she said that he's turned back to back! Boo :(

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 07:52

Emily When I had my 1st induction nothing really happened till I had my 2nd peasary. Hang in thereSmile

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 07:54

How is everyone? I feel like I'm back to square oneHmm no more contractions in the last 24hrs, just slowly losing my plug. I really want things to get going now!

EmilyD2012 · 12/06/2012 08:08

Thanks Dairy, that's good to know, I've been getting a bit impatient here but guess I should just try to sleep for a bit before the second pessary! X

Morning!

I know how you feel, dairynips - today I feel just as I did six weeks ago - despite being 41+3. Yesterday had a swim, acupuncture, rl tea x 4, a curr, rubbed on the clary sage oil I'd been given by Neal's Yard and spent the rest of the day walking and on my ball - nada.

I think this proves that we can't influence the birth date!

Sweep today - really wanted to avoid this but will try - argh!!

Good luck to all today x

StarlightMaJesty · 12/06/2012 08:14

Dairy, I'm the same. A couple of weeks ago I was regularly having bouts of BH, sometimes every Two minutes. 2 weeks later and a week overdue - nothing!!

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 08:27

star it's so frustrating isn't it?! Funnily enough I've never had braxton hicks in any of my pregnancies, not that I've noticed anyway.. I was definitely having contractions, where have they gone?!!

Emily Yeah good idea to conserve your energySmile
