Ooo jesse this is exciting stuff. Got my fingers crossed for u!!! Haha mamma we do lead a very rock and roll lifestyle at the minute don't we!!! Has anyone tried Clary Sage in the bath? A friend was telling me about it before. Have tried everything else! Haha!

mammadothebump · 24/06/2012 16:00

I was sniffing it like an addict earlier! Then realised I couldn't look madder if I tried! Will definitely have a bath with it later, maybe the combination with jalapenos will help! Have done it once but with bubble bath to which I think slightly undermines it.

GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!

imminent · 24/06/2012 16:50

Can I join? 40+5 today with dc3. Fed up with SPD, not being able to do anything because of it, want this baby out but not remotely ready for it.. house in a mess again, am exhausted. Sorry for the moan - will be in a better mood later! :)

jessebuni · 24/06/2012 17:10

welcome imminent! come join us in our complaining!

I tried everything to kick off labour and nothing worked not even eating raw habanero peppers which are hotter the jalapeños or a massive vindaloo! had way more sex than I could ever want, tried EPO tablets both ways lol you name it I've done it but nothing! at my last appointment after all those things at 4 sweeps I was still cervix thick and closed and still pregnant at 41 weeks. so I gave up!

after giving up trying to shift her on Friday last night a had some random tightenings that didn't hurt at all but I could feel my tummy pulling and today I've had tightenings since 11am. they didn't hurt then but they do now and they're now around 4-5mins apart so I've called the midwife who said it definitely sounds promising but I'm not in much pain so to check back in half an hour to an hour. I'm sitting here hoping and praying this is finally it an that I'm going to avoid induction on Tuesday. I am after all 41+5 so surely it's time!!!

sending all the labour vibes out to you guys! keep positive! maybe try not to try and get the baby out and see of it works?

SleepyFergus · 24/06/2012 17:21

Hello, can I join your merry band? I'm 40+3 today which I know isn't hugely overdue compared to some! I'm so fed up and baby is showing no signs of wanting to come into this world remotely soon. This is my DC2. DD arrived on her due date and I think everyone expected this one to do so too. Baby is very squirmy and bump still high. I was offered a sweep at 40 weeks if I was desperate (which I declined) and I'll prob be offered one again on Wed when I'll be 40+6 but not sure what I'll do. Induction will not be planned until I am 40+14 which seems inconceivably far away. I have to hope that baby will decide to come before then.

I'm in such a funny mood, pissed off, narky, tired, lazy, restless. DH is being a saint, and DD who is 2.8 is picking up on my vibes so is being a bit of a madam, knowing that my patience is ice thin!

All in all, I'm an utter joy to be around!!

shellywellybaby1 · 24/06/2012 18:26

Welcome immenant and sleepy come join us for a good moan and the occasional glimmer of hope!!

Someone must be due to go into full on labour now - its been a couple of days since we have had some good news!! Keep us posted jesse hope its kicked out big style for you!

jessebuni · 24/06/2012 18:53

just a quick update. still having pains 4-5mins apart but they hurt more now so i've crossing my fingers and praying like hell that this is finally it and hopefully i'll have good news for you guys soon.

anyone want to go into labour with me?

SleepyFergus · 24/06/2012 18:59

Oooh good luck Jesse, hope this is it!!

shellywellybaby1 · 24/06/2012 19:35

Eeep thats great news jesse well i would love to go into labour with you haha. I dnt think its goin to happen somehow though. Ah well... Back to reading 50 shades of shit!

mammadothebump · 24/06/2012 19:40

Hi sleepy. Love the optimism of your name imminent!

Go go jessi. Sounds like this is it! Eek, very excited for you. I would definitely like to say labour was my plan for this evening but actually think my dh would be very unimpressed for making him miss the England game! Therefore I am bouncing like mad!

jessebuni · 25/06/2012 03:45

Well everyone I started active labour at 8.50pm and by 1am (with the midwife only having arrived by 10mins) we had our arrival. Didn't even have time for gas and air as I was already pushing!

Eleanor May Gates was born at 00.47am at 8lbs11oz

Sending all the labour vibes on to you guys! Whose next?!

PinkPanther27 · 25/06/2012 03:54

Have been up for hours feeding little one which means Imthe first one to read the exciting news! Congratulations Jessi! Hope it went smoothly and that you recover well. Enjoy your cuddles with little one

McKayz · 25/06/2012 05:03

Congratulations jesse!!!!

SleepyFergus · 25/06/2012 06:55

Congrats Jesse, lovely news! What a good weight too! Enjoys your cuddles!

runlolarun10 · 25/06/2012 07:58

Congrats Jesse! Smile

I introduced myself before but have been lurking for a while. I'm now 41+10 and have lost all hope of avoiding an induction. If one more person says to me, 'Have you tried...?' they will live to regret it Angry Had an attempted sweep on Friday, but I absolutely hate internals and got so nervous and tense that the midwife stopped because she said it would hurt me too much. This doesn't bode well for childbirth... I had my heart set on going to the birthing unit and sticking myself firmly in the pool so noone could randomly stick their fingers up me. I'm meant to have another sweep today, but I really don't think it's worth it.
I've resigned myself to the induction on Friday. I keep trying to read about the process, but am struggling to get past the word 'pessary' Shock I'm just really pissed off because I've been lucky enough to have a good pregnancy and feel like everyone's disappointed that I've fallen at the last hurdle. Also, my natural birth plan is now laughable as from what I've read, if I have to have 'the drip' I'll be begging for an epidural.
Sorry for the self-indulgently long post, but nobody else bloody understands the frustration and disappointment!

jessebuni · 25/06/2012 08:24

runlola honestly I was you yesterday! The thought of being induced as opposed to my planned home birth was a nightmare. Id given up tryin to shift her. So I just sat and sulked that I was going to be induced Tuesday. Only then magically I went into labour thank god. The whole time I was enjoying the pain because I was finally in labour! I was just so relieved that I didn't have to be induced that I didn't care that it hurt like hell and managed the whole thing without even gas and air. So maybe just relaxing is the way forward! And with regards to induction or sweeps put it this way IF you managed to have a sweep that triggers off labour it could avoid the countless prodding involved in induction. And if you need to be induced fingers crossed for you that you only need the gel put in and things kick off quite well. So try really hard my to panic about it since I was and my angel arrived the day before my induction date.

mammadothebump · 25/06/2012 08:50

Congratulations jessi. So pleased you got the birth you wanted. Hope you're enjoying many snuggles on the couch right now.

Runlola I feel equally despondent. I'm 40+2 and have been feeling impatient for a while. But like jessi says I'm beginning to feel this anticipation is going to make for a better birth. With dd1 I was in denial that it was labour until I was 5 cm (was convinced it was constipation! Blush I won't have denial to see me through this time but hopefully impatience will be enough.

Wrt sweeps, I know sometimes you can ask for g+a if you go to the antenatal clinic. My sweep for dd1 kickstarted labour within half an hour. Still haven't been given a date for one yet due to insanely blase midwife but in the meantime I am trying everything else!

How are you doing shelly and emblosion? Any signs?

shellywellybaby1 · 25/06/2012 09:48

Woooohhooooo jesse congratulations!!! So happy for you!! Sounds like everything went smoothly, despite the midwife taking her time!! Enjoy lots of cuddles!! U definitely deserve them!! Aw runlola sending extreme labour vibes your way!!! U must be beyond fed up!!

mamma i am giving up haha. Had lots of tightenings, diahorrea, and what looked like bits of my show and this has been going on for nearly a week! Its not fair! Y do they tease us like this!!! How are you? Hope they get you a sweep booked soon. I have one on weds. Even if it doesnt work i just want to know if my cervix is even low enough and ready for action!!!

Lots of labour vibes everyone!!

SleepyFergus · 25/06/2012 09:50

I wasn't sure about having a sweep but I'm wondering whether just to go for it. I'm 40+4 today and my MW will give me one on Wed when I'l be 40+6 if I want. I wasn't going to do it because I'm nervous it will hurt, which I know is really silly! I found the internal exam when I first went in to have my DD THE most painful thing ever....nearly shot off the end of the bed! So I think I'm equating a sweep with the same sort of pain as that....is it? But if I thought it would kick start labour then I'm cutting my nose off to spite my face in refusing it.

(Thing is, I don't want to have baby on Wed as that is when my mil thinks I'll have it, and I'll never hear the end of how she predicted the date!!!!)

My MW said that they won't induce until 40+14 though....that seems awfully late to me, and what if induction doesn't work? It could last another 3 days or so and I don't want to end up having an emcs or anything. I'm going to double check I've got the right on Wednesday though.

I've just spent this morning shaving my legs, best be prepared and all that! Made a bit of a mess, it's so hard manoeuvring around the bath with the bump!

Sorry for the ME post. Just want this baby OUT!

shellywellybaby1 · 25/06/2012 10:15

Haha sleepy if you are anything like me in the bath when tryin to shave then i have to say its pretty funny. I end slipping n sliding all over the show! I just gave up last week and went for a full leg wax instead haha. Still have to tackle the bikini area tho!!

I am guessing a sweep is pretty much the same as an internal. Maybe if you think of all the positives to it then that might help you relax and hopefully wont be as painful?

jessebuni · 25/06/2012 11:38

Thanks everyone for the congrats. All is going well new baby is breast feeding fine an currently sleeping in the Moses basket while I sit on my sofa with a twice and a bottle of water. This recovery is going much better than with DS1 definitely recommending home birth!

Also I hopped on the scales earlier (I have a wedding to go to in 4 weeks hence wanting to know the damage) I'm 2lbs lighter than when I found out I was pregnant! Woo!

shellywellybaby1 · 25/06/2012 11:47

Hahaha aww brill jesse well done! Make sure you keep taking it easy!!

runlolarun10 · 25/06/2012 12:07

Clearly I should have said I'm 40+10, not 41+10... Bloody baby stealing my brain.
Jesse Thanks so much for your reassurances: you've given me back a little bit of hope! I'm going for the relax sit and sulk technique today so lets see if it works. Really can't be arsed with all this raspberry tea, pineapple, curry, bouncing crap anymore. I was only doing it because I felt like people would accuse me of not trying if I didn't. My boss wants to come round on Thursday and try some hippy crystal shit on me! Now, how do I politely decline that...
Sleepyfergus Definitely give the sweep a go: you can always ask the midwife to stop. I'm not really scared of the pain, it's just the whole internal situation that I hate and found it impossible to relax. Mine was a bit painful and the midwife stopped because she could tell I wasn't enjoying it (!), but I could have carried on. Should have had another this morning, but I decided against it (not going to tell anyone else this though!) Feel exactly the same as you re the 'cutting off my nose' thing, but at least I gave it a go. For me I just think the panic and nerves leading up to it might do more harm than good, but who knows: I may have just thrown away my last chance to evict this little beast...

whippetwoman · 25/06/2012 13:40

Hello All - would anyone mind if I joined in too please? I've been lurking on this brilliant thread for ages. I am 40+2 today with my third and he's showing zero inclination to appear anytime soon. He's also back to back and because I've had a horrible UTI and now thrush, think the worst thrush EVER, I haven't done much to try and turn him because being on all fours or bouncing on the ball with a UTI and thrush is one of the most un-fun things ever. So as you can imagine, I'm a really great person to be around right now and my family are totally loving me. The UTI is nearly cleared up (the first one I have ever had in my life) and thrush slightly better today.
Yikes, sorry for the moan. Find this life in waiting very hard indeed. There's so much left to do round the house but as soon as I do it, it needs doing again. So I get everything in a 'ready for labour' state and then a day later the house is messy again, the hamsters need cleaning out, the dog needs walking, the washing basket is full and my 'ready for delivery' awkwardly shaved legs need shaving once more.
Ah well! Good luck to those due soon and congrats to all who have had their babies. this thread. This thread has cheered me up over the past couple of weeks :)

shellywellybaby1 · 25/06/2012 15:38

Welcome whippet ouch. Sounds like you are really suffering :( hopefully you wont have too long to wait and your bambino will be upon you all of a sudden!
