cheers cori - about time we had a new one, hadn;t realised how large the last one was.

So how are we all doing today? everyone ok?

HellKat · 13/02/2006 09:58

Thankyou very much!
How's everyone this morning?
Just been to Sainsburys, it's so mild outside!

Piffle · 13/02/2006 09:59

I'm here, still a little surprised to be but here nonetheless!
Silly dr receptionist - due to previous ectopic I need to book in early for hcg count due to risk of another one being significantly higher.
So I ring and ask, do I need to see GP, midwife or go straight through to EPU...
She says there is nothing on your file about what to do, so I'll book you in to see the GP in 14 days time when she is free.
D'oh
I point out that its actually quite urgent - she manages to fit me in tomorrow So we will see!

HellKat · 13/02/2006 10:04

Good for you hun!
Those blood tests make the world of difference.
I'm so excited now, and I know I should'nt be getting hopes up too much as it's so early but I love being pg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.

Coathanger · 13/02/2006 10:25

Quick hijack!

Just want to wish you all lots of luck in your PGs - I hope you continue to enjoy heartburn, piles, morning sickness, spots, stretchmarks and more (all in the nicest possible way though!!) I can imagine all those sypmtoms feel great - I know I would enjoy them

I love being pg too HK, i have realised something i have been pg since december 2004!! apart from june, july and august 2005
thats 14 months with a 3 month break!

Luckily i have not had many of the symptoms coathanger has described!!

KK- thats great news- i think after they find a heartbeat there is even less chance of mc

Piffle · 13/02/2006 12:26

kk wonderful news!!!
I'm in Sth Lincs and would be up for a midlands- preferably east ish, infact would be prepared to help host/arrange something?

FirstNikki · 13/02/2006 12:48

Monring ladies..I mean afternoon [smlie]

KK congrats on scan - that means you have passed your first milestone of 5/6 wks - welldone!

well went for booking in appointment got same mw as last pg and I know she is nice. Had to have bloods done too...they couldn't find the vein in both arms! eventually a nurse did it in one arm after digging around. I was so uptight about it that I had contracted my veins (was wincing and hold my breath etc)...think will take something to take my mind off things next time cos my arms are killing and swollen. DH was with me though all the way so that was nice. Just got to take a pee sample to drs in the morning and wait for the scan to come through in the post, which should be earlier considering history. Trying to keep quiet...yeah right! girl in mw apt before me her mum lives 3 doors down from mil, also saw old work colleague waiting for bloods and you get "what you here for?" never mind the time is getting nearer to telling
Actually I started to bleed last time at 8 wks (will be 8wks on friday) so everything crossed that get passed the next wk or two.

FirstNikki · 13/02/2006 12:48

that will be a then...sorry some more brain cells lost!

spub · 13/02/2006 13:01

Er, don't mind me! I seem to be the only Northerner on here - apart from my scouse mate, KK!

your poor arm nikki i have bad veins but dd's are terrible! they put cream on before taking hers but they have such trouble finding her veins and she hates anyone holding on to her. i have everything crossed for you that you meet your milestone. hopefully they'll hurry up with the scan.

FirstNikki · 13/02/2006 13:23

thanks kk, I used to be ok with bloods no problemo but recently its been harder each time. Poor dd going through that for her bloods.

Roll on milestones....I know you are supposed to enjoy pg's but its just the early worries.

spub, would your vote be midlands or london? as you live in sunny scotland, i know midlands is easier to drive but as you are so far i thought you would consider ye ole easyjet.

FN- i had the same prob with my bloods, the midwife said she had never been beat but after all her years taking blood she had met her match! the next time however she used a tiny needle and the blood flowed much easier, and it didn't hurt.

FirstNikki · 13/02/2006 13:38

might ask for smaller needle next time then..thanks slink

spub · 13/02/2006 14:04

Slink - probably London as I know my way around it pretty well but am not sure if I'll even make it so plese don't factor me in too much!

petunia · 13/02/2006 14:08

FirstNikki- I have trouble with veins as well. Do you have awful bruises afterwards as well that don't disappear for 10 days? When I had the m/c last year, the Dr wanted some blood, couldn't get a vein and tried for the inside of my arm (between wrist and elbow). When she took the needle out, they just about had to peel me off the ceiling! My Dad says he was told if you rub the area with a finger before they do the test, it helps stop bruising. Haven't heard about using tiny needles, suppose it makes sense really.

Kreamkrackers- excellent news about your scan.
Piffle- congratulations on being able to join us here!

HellKat · 13/02/2006 16:24

Congrats Kk

cori · 13/02/2006 16:58

Hi everyone,
am doing fine today, have had a a busy weekend and feel a bit tired, I have jus t downed two choclate bars in quick succession so will hopefully have ebough energy to cook dinner.
I have been having some strange aches lately, at the bottom of my bump. Sometimes if i turn in bed or sit the wrong way I get an achey, cramp like feeling. I know about to start getting enormous so could be the uterus stretching, but seems weird that i get it in certain positons.
I have an antenatal appointment on Wednesday so will mention it then.

OP posts:
FirstNikki · 13/02/2006 17:07

Will that be the next growth spurt cori? Try changing you positions for lying and sitting and like you say speak with mw. Sure you are fine x
