I understand MrsMiggins. I have to have the akward conversation with my dad whenever I go for a scan. Back in the day, people didn't do so many scans! and ofcourse ultrasound is bad for the baby... bla bla bla... I am getting good at ignoring this.

Another varied bump movement here Marmite! Sunday was kicking and punching day and yesterday I barely got a handful of movement. Pretty normal I think but, as they say, count the kicks!

3Bears could be a growth spurt? I have moments of food madness and moments of sanity... Currently at a food sanity point and relishing it. I know the food binge will be back soon enough. I do not really like it as I get that other kind of heartburn which doesn't really burn but food is stuck in the throat instead. Mega Yuck!

dragonleo · 18/04/2012 16:29

Hey everyone, having a crazy kicking show going on today. Seems to be getting more and more active everyday...
I will be sure to make a note of the lists you wonderful people have created and then get myself sorted- although i feel like will probably be waiting until my mat leave in July because just so busy at the minute.

Anyone's belly button popped out yet? Mine is defs getting shallower. I have a rather sizeable bump now (24+5) and people are starting to comment on how big i am- DISLIKE!! At the beginning was moaning about no bump and now i think am too big. Anyone else experiencing same thing? I just dont know what size is normal!

susiegrapevine · 18/04/2012 16:43

Hey everyone not been on for a while. Been catching up with what everyones been posting in part 4!

I would recomend the motorolla monitor we had to buy another one recently after ds broke our 1st which was the basic fisher price one. Would have got another one of those but we decided we needed the two way talk more for when dh is in the bath with ds and might need help or something. It also has a built in thermometer night light and lullabys is only 40 quid from argos.

Would also recommend a rocker rather than a bouncer as they last longer mine turns into a chair and lasts till they are 3 tho it was more expensive but got that as my leaving pressie from work last time!

My grandad is loads better now is in a rehab unit! Will still have to have an op but they want him to recover more 1st as he is doing so well and none of the doctors have seen a recovery like it!!

Been looking at nurseries for ds in the past couple of weeks as wanna put ds before baby comes so when baby gets here we will have time on our own but ds won't feel push out by baby.

Glad everyone is doing well. 125 days to go seems like forever!

alisonmcg · 18/04/2012 17:39

Hi everyone, my first post in thread 4!

marmite I am so glad you have mentioned the movement thing as I have been worried about exactly that. At the start of the week he/she had really gained some strength and I was feeling massive kicks and DP felt the movements for the first time which was great. But...yesterday and today I have felt less movements and they have been quite faint which had me worried. I had thought that now that the kicks had gotten stronger they would stay that way. It sounds like I'm not alone with this though which really helps so hopefully our wee ones just like having chilled out days too! Have a doctors appointment on Monday so will chat about it with her then but hopefully my wee one will be more active again by then anyway!

Hope everyone is well! We're over in France at the moment visiting my dad so enjoying the break from work. Already counting down the weeks until maternity leave!! Smile

faintpinkline · 18/04/2012 19:53

So jealous of those of you feeling big movements. My placenta is to the front and all the movements I feel are really faint except for some odd reason I get a few a day which seem to vibrate through my vagina - its a very weird sensation indeed Grin

I've got an appointment with the midwife on Monday morning when I'll be 24+5 so I will ask her about the vibrating vagina (sound like an advert for Ann Summers Blush)

sc0ttishlass · 18/04/2012 21:14

hi all, just sitting down to apprentice (acutally hate it - and all the contestants - but cant turn away) and thought i would see what is going on - what a lot of chatter :)

thank you for all the advice re nappies - just what i was looking for - i will definately get to asda on monday for that huggies box. you lot are shaming me into being more organised - i told DH i was about the least organised and had the smallest list of stuff so he said we can firm up our 'list' at the weekend and start buying! (have no money so not sure where from but hey ho!) - might go to that baby thing - is it the one at the SECC in Glasgow? see what is going on...

faintpinkline - your 'vibrations' made me laugh :) i have the plancenta previa so have not felt any great amount of movement at all - but still feel maybe 2 or 3 flutters each day... am past getting worried about it :)

re the mat B1 form, i got mine from my mw last week - at the regular appts we now have (every 4 weeks - is that same as you guys) and i sent to HR - i had already told them so have received my companies 7 page letter in the post which tells me what i need to send back!

anyway - sleep well :)
xx

ffscatmove · 18/04/2012 21:48

faintpinkline you've made me feel better, I keep getting a very odd sensation & vibrating vagina pretty much describes it! LO likes to put the boot into my cervix from time to time as well which is deeply unpleasant and makes me jump - slightly embarrassing at work when people ask you what's up! Also finding degree of movement varies day to day.

Re: the MATB1 - I was under the impression it had to be handed in between 20 & 25 weeks so get your skates on! It's a good idea to write a summary of your plans as well i.e. when you plan to start maternity leave, what A/L you think you're entitled to & how you want to use it, if/when you plan to return & whether you plan to reduce your hours on your return if possible. They can't hold you to it so it's not set in stone but it's worth making it clear that it is just a guide & things may change! It's also worth discussing with your line manager before submitting it to HR if applicable.

Anyway, a Gu chocolate thingy is calling me (loudly!) so I must away!

Loupee · 18/04/2012 21:53

sc0ttishlass yeah its the one at the SECC, just going to drag my sisters along, at the very least it'll be a nice girly afternoon, if its crap we can just head into town for dinner or something.

I've been feeling a lot stronger movements over the past couple weeks, sometimes it feels like he has 8 limbs cos they are all over the place. I have an anterior placenta to took a while to feel much, trying to enjoy it, but I also get the 'sensation' in my vagina, as if he's trying to kick his way out already!

I have eaten far too much rubbish today, for those of you with a sweet tooth you might want to stay away from the new Ben and Jerry's core ice cream, it is amazing!

ishopthereforeiam · 18/04/2012 21:53

welcome babbas and huia

Have given my MATB1 in. Check your employment contract as to when you need to hand it in / notify your work of your mat leave start date.

In other news - am addicted to (veggie) percie pigs from M&S. Seriously, if I eat anymore I will look like one (and they are NOT pretty!)

ffscat - is it the Gu chocolate souffle? they are so yummmmmmmm

dragon my belly button didn't pop out with dd but just went completely flat (v odd!). So far, it's still slightly indented but I can see it flattening out soon...

tashaw28 · 18/04/2012 22:25

Hello thread 4!
Re nappies I had a 6lb 8oz baby and she wore the premmie nappies (tesco size 0) for ages, they fitted better and didn't leak, boys there's the whole willy pointing down thing to conquer first though and they may need a size 1!!!
I'm not allowed to buy much for number 3, but I do remember seeing some lovely blankets that go in the car seat with an attached hat/hood and then you strap the baby in and fold the blanket over the straps, it looks amazing especially for getting out the house in the mornings for the school run, I remember those snow suits being a bugger to get on and not sure I'll have the time!!!

littlelamb1980 · 18/04/2012 22:27

Hey ladies, just been catching up on all the posts and it seems like loads of us are experiencing the same things and it really makes me feel reassured to know Im not the only one worrying about these things!
Marmite my LO has been really active up till today and I was so worried about lack of movements that I got my doppler out for the first time in ages and the heartbeat was fine. I really think that he has just moved and I'm starting to feel more tonight but it's just so worrying when you don't feel anything for a while. Am I right in thinking that movements don't start to have a proper pattern until about 28 weeks, when you should start to count the kicks?
3Bears I too have been in a severe eating binge these past couple of days! I am still eating some healthy foods but can't get enough of salt & vinegar crisps and I ate 3/4 of a Terry's chocolate orange today Blush. I'm hoping this doesn't last or I'll be the size of a house!
MrsM sorry to hear about your MIL's comments, not vey helpful at all. Our parent have been fine but if my mum tells me one more time about how I might be like her and have really quick births with small babies, I will go crazy! Mum smoked throughout both her pregnancies and I was 6 weeks premature so no surprise I was small.
Thank you all for the info re nappies and lists of things to buy. I have bought a total of four sleep suits so far! I've been window shopping alot but will need to start making decisions and purchasing soon while I have the energy!
Night ladies x

yehudiwho · 18/04/2012 22:37

Saw the thread and decided to drop in to say I had a Aug 30 ds 8 years ago. Good luck and enjoy those lovely summer birthday parties!!.
Will just say worry not about summer born. My son has coped fine with being the youngest and now know that 1. Schools are fine and will do all they can to help your dc and 2. My ds would have been bored in the year below and is happily coping in year group.

therumoursaretrue · 18/04/2012 22:54

Hello everyone! Look at us all with thread number 4 Grin
Hope you are all keeping well this week.

I havnt bought a single thing yet! Hoping to get pram ordered this week though which will be nice to get out of the way. Has anyone ordered theirs or settled on one yet?

therumoursaretrue · 18/04/2012 22:56

yehudiwho thanks for the good wishes! Summer birthday parties sound blissful! I'm a January baby and always wanted a summer birthday Smile

susiegrapevine · 19/04/2012 08:38

Oh god really really need to start sorting out all ds's old clothes to see what actually needs binning! He was in his newborn until 3 months so some of it might be a little worse for wear. I've just been sitting on my laurels thinking I'm having another boy so I have everything I need!! Arrg!

As for nappies tashaw my ds was 5lb 12oz and was fine in size 1 but can't remember how long he was in em for! Did however have to run out and buy tiny baby clothes as newborn swammped him! So much that's his arms got caught up in newborn sleep suits. So still have some tiny baby clothes obviousky dunno how big this one is gonna be!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/04/2012 08:51

Morning all. Wet and cold here today. Definitely with you all on the differences of movement. Also have anterior placenta, so not as strong and came late, and oddly, I only ever have them on my right side, but they do vary. Do like feeling them now though. Tummy button still the same at the mo, though boobs have had a bit of a growth spurt and are bigger again.

Bought some pjs at ASDA yesterday in a massive size (black leopard print, v soft cotton, quite cute actually, £8) and feel much comfier in them. Do others have maternity sleepwear? Is it worth it by then end?

Scottish ladies, is the baby show you're talking about the one next week at SECC on 27th-29th April? Looks quite good actually, and I couldn't help noticing there was a fudge and toffee stall... Also Annabel Karmel who I'm interested in for her food ideas.

Anyhoo, have a nice day all. I'm going to attempt to start tackling DH's crap precious belongings in the spare room and box it up for him to sort, as am desperate to get cracking on the nursery. x

sc0ttishlass · 19/04/2012 09:38

Miggins - you have sold that event to me with teh annabel karmel stall - im really interested in her too.. and the fudge stall of course - might just pop along.
ishop - funny you mention veggie percies - i have been addicted to them since they came out - far prefer them to normal - and last ngiht, ate more than half a bag - my DH said if he had done that I woudl have gone mad :)

i wonder how much of our chat has been dominated by food - hehe!

woke up with the worst leg cramps every last night - leg still tight today - is that down to dehydration does anyone know? or just something we should expect!

still loving all the nappy advice - thank you ;)

nearly the weekend!

xx

PoppyS34wantssleep · 19/04/2012 10:18

thanks yehudiwho I didn't think about summer birthday parties - :o I'm a December baby, and have always wanted a barbecue birthday :)

Dragon My belly button's definitely getting shallower, I've also noticed it's slightly wonky Confused. I think my bump is quite small, but everyone else just says it's massive :( I'm not worrying about the size, because they're checking me every two weeks at the mo, so I know if it's not on track it'll be picked up pretty quick.

Have another consultant appt on Tuesday and a scan, so looking forward to seeing Bump again.

Movements still a bit less than they have been, but used doppler this morning and found him straight away. He's just lower down, hiding away a bit.

Loupee · 19/04/2012 10:35

I'm an August birthday, having summer parties were great, but all to often my friends would be away on holiday and couldn't come, swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Thats me just booked the tickets for the baby show, hopefully it'll be useful, and if not hopefully I'll get some fudge.
I had awful leg/foot cramps last night, ended up kicking the cat out of bed, he wasn't happy! It is just the worst feeling I think, you know theres nothing you can do to take the pain away, just lie and stretch and wait!
Was also in Asda yesterday, they have some gorgeous Tigger baby clothes, he was my favourite from Winnie the Pooh. Are the Asda clothes decent quality? Does it matter? I guess they are not in them for that long.

WelshLadyCDF · 19/04/2012 12:53

rumours i am getting the quinny zapp extra pram, it has a really cosy foot muff and i think it cocoons the baby better that others e.g. the bugaboo. the price is ok too compared with some of the others.
dragon my bump seems big too and belly button disappearing fast, i got some new bras from john lewis which made me feel better, i was feeling very wide before and boobs looked squashed like they do in sports bras.

ffscatmove · 19/04/2012 13:18

Afternoon all.
ishop no it was the choc, chilli & raspberry thing and it was luurrrverly Grin

I had a lovely 'mum to be' massage today so feel all floaty & chilled, it was wonderful - eased the ligament pain down my side as well! It was a pressie from my sis & mum, may have to invest in a few more (I'll tell DH it's 'no wine' money!)

On another note, any ideas on how to lessen a burn mark on carpet? I dropped the iron whilst ironing transfers onto the nursery walls (don't even ask, I don't know what made me think this was a good idea! Blush) Fortunately it's where the dresser will go & it's only leftover carpet from when we had the hall done but DH has worked so hard to get the room done I feel like a total numpty Sad

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/04/2012 14:00

Massage sounds lovely. I've got one saved up for July and another saved up for Oct (birthday presents I should add!). FFS, could you not very carefully trim away the top burnt bit of the carpet then sort of fluff it up with a wire brush or similar? There's no real cure for burnt carpet, as it's melted, but you could minimise by trimming perhaps? AM not suggesting btw that you have shagpile Grin

On another note, my obsession with monitors has continued on this thread here in case anyone fancies a read: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1452703-Talk-to-me-about-baby-monitors-please?msgid=31276079#31276079

Westcountrylovescheese · 19/04/2012 15:08

Welsh we were also considering the Quinny Buzz, will you be getting a cot attachment or using the seat. I was told you could use the seat from birth but they still need to be strapped in, but the extra cot starts to make it expensive... hmmm...

sc0ttishlass · 19/04/2012 15:46

mrs miggins - did you see the mumsnet reviews - i think the BT150 one is what we will go for - if anyone sees any cheap offers let me know :)

www.mumsnet.com/Reviews/baby-monitors

roll on home time - i was meant to be goign down south tomorrow ngiht for a uni girls weekened (5 girls all with kids excpect me yet) - but am just about to cancel (will lose flight and accom money but hey ho) - dont know what has come over me but feel like such a wuss - cant go - the thought of going is really depresssing me and i feel really down in the dumps - not sure if I need to just spend some time chilling out, or what the problem is as I am not normally like this at all!

xx

ffscatmove · 19/04/2012 16:59

Thanks MrsM - sadly no it's not shagpile Grin but a nice tightly woven short washable type so trimming was unsuccessful :( Am feeling more relaxed about it now, I'm sure DH will see the funny side Hmm and at least I didn't catch the iron and burn myself!

scottish, can't you hang on till tomorrow to make your mind up? A bit of time away with old friends might cheer you up a bit - if they've all got kids they'll understand you're a bit off kilter. Sending you a [hug] anyway.
