The third instalment as we're a talkative bunch!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Zoep can't believe I missed your reveal story. GRRRRRRR. One glass of champagne is hardly downing shots one by one. And ultimately, it's your body, not hers (am indignant on your behalf!!). My sister warned me about all the unrequested advice that you get as a pregnant person / mum but hadn't expected it to be quite that full on!

I had been feeling better today after a great night's sleep but now shattered and ready for bed. Must do some yoga then off for an early night.

welcome too MrsPeggyPatch and Sedgers.

Cwest did you manage to agree another time for doing the accounts? I'm sure so long as you make the time, it doesn't have to happen exactly on Friday morning (does it?) .

squid I am beyond impressed. But I am puttng your energy down to your 2nd trimester state. Hopefully my mojo will be back by then!

Angelico that sounds horrid. Rest and crap tv required. and some sitting in the sun with a book?

Fjord glad there are positive imigration noises. Fingers xd.

kyrria I can totally relate. My boss has already asked me three times whether I am pregnant or plan or being so - each time he asked me I wasn't even in a relationship (and they're bloody not supposed to discriminate and how is society supposed to continue if no-one has kids??? humn). I got engaged 2 months ago and he hasn't noticed the sparkly ring yet nor commented so I suspect I'll be 5 months up the duff before he'll notice. I don't plan on telling him v.early, certainly, particularly as I'm quite nervous about something going wrong. If I can get away with not telling him till the 20 week scan point, I think I will.

ugh re hot office *jodidi - I am perpetually freezing though and was in a cashmere poloneck whilst colleagues sat around in vest tops today. Not sure why...

sorry to anyone i missed. MUST DO EXERCISE. then bed. yay!

Beeblebear · 26/03/2012 21:58

Good afternoon all (or shall I say good evening for most of you)

re: classes - some of my friends said that they were not very good for meeting people, and others now get together weekly. So i think it's kind of luck of the draw. I'd definately sign up for some baby group. I plan to do so myself. We live in the country and nobody ever visits and I don't want to be a hermit for a year. I'd go crazy.

lisbethopposite and marvellousmarie - I hope things are going better for you now.

As far as telling work - i told them very early, and then right after they told me they are basically reducing my workload and hiring someone else for most of what I'm currently doing. Boy do I ever feel crappy about that. And now I'm supposed to be filling out a self evaluation, and don't feel like doing it at all, so I'm on MN and seriously procrastinating.

The dissapearing , reappearing bump is driving me crazy. I want stretchy pants!

2 weeks until scan date. Off on a 4 day trip to the mountains this weekend. Hopefully can get some light hiking in if the weather is nice. I NEED to get out of the city and breathe some fresh air and smell the trees!

Hello all!

Had to scroll feverishly to find zoe's champers reveal story! Well done! I love how she was all confused about the fact her being an interfering busybody made you angry hahaha! I am imagining in my head that this woman is some twit I know (thankfully the ex of a friend - I haven't seen her in years), her behaviour was the same!

Well am here in lovely Melbourne and it's been great fun. Had a small glass of amazing beer from a local brewery with relish! Have been eating a selection of things I supposedly shouldn't eat (feta, runny eggs which were part of the most AMAZING eggs florentine with smoked salmon, ham, salami, other cheeses).... I'm not really bothered TBH. I was good though and didn't have linguine with clams the other night (after some convincing by DH Grin)....

I went bra shopping with SIL and got thoroughly depressed. Need a proper measurement but am well past E cup now. Poss a 12/14F. :( Just two months ago it was 10DD...

Bought lovely stretchy knit stuff from Metalicus (if anyone knows it) and that cheered me up though, esp a bright yellow cardy :)

Beeblebear · 26/03/2012 23:09

Oh and ps. to my previous post

Has anyone else been seeing start/silver sparkles when they stand up too quickly?

I have always had issues with getting tunnel vision / loosing sight if I stood up too fast, but this floating glitter/sparkles/stars stuff is a new occurance.

Kyyria · 27/03/2012 07:07

beeblebear Yes, I quite often get the "sparkles". I have noticed them more often recently but I'm asthmatic and have suffered with them for years. They tend to happen if my asthma is bad and therefore you're not getting enough oxygen in your body. Getting them when asthma is fine at the moment - am presuming it's just a side effect of increased blood flow to the bean meaning I'm sharing my oxygen!

milk · 27/03/2012 08:45

Good morning :)

Scan day today :D At 4pm, so I am leaving the house at 2pm to get there extra early... I do not want a repeat of last time, lol.

24/13+2 (approx)/#2

Midgetm · 27/03/2012 09:02

Good luck milk, with the scan and with getting there. Jealous of all you having time off Melbourne or the lakes would do me nicely right now. Just booking some time off for the lakes right now but work diary looking grim.

bumble and kyria I get the sparkles but I was anaemic before pregnant and put it down to that.

Big delivery of maternity clothes arrived this morning, think I may be premature with ordering but I can't resist a sale. Last time I wasn't in mat stuff till about 5 months but this time I think it will be more like 3/4. Although bump is largely still pooh/wind/food baby as grows throughout the day

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine, even if like me you ate trapped inside at work all day. X

Velo · 27/03/2012 11:29

Hi ladies ,

Went I went for my 12 weeks scan last week the doc gave me the usual list of things that I'm not allowed to eat - which includes raw egg. She then specifically mention NO tiramisu (which apparently contains raw egg). Fast forward one week to 'date-night' dinner with DH - and the only dessert on the menu......

milk · 27/03/2012 11:37

NO tiramisu Shock I know I can't shoot you Velo as the messenger, but I am tempted Wink

Angelico · 27/03/2012 11:45

Lol milk at shooting the messenger - poor Velo that was most unwelcome news! :o

Had scan this morning, bean thriving and kicking away, apparently only me feeling like death Hmm. Broke a little blood vessel coughing hence spotting so all is well. Beautiful weather but staying indoors to avoid hay fever aggravating everything else. So tired but think it's the antibiotics. Take care ladies! x

ps: Jodidi and Fjordmor I am liking your definitions of light activity :o Livvy crap tv is the way forward I think, plus some dozing and honey & lemon.

Milk hope your scan goes well today! :) x

Squid have a great holiday! :o

milk · 27/03/2012 12:13

Angelico, I am so happy the scan went well :)

DameFlatYouLent · 27/03/2012 12:19

No tiramisu? Bugger...had some on Friday at a vair naice restaurant. Scan a week today...

londonlivvy · 27/03/2012 13:56

Argh... colleagues eating sushi at their desk (very slowly, very deliberately) for the last half an hour. The smell is making me gag.

Must breathe through mouth. must breathe through mouth...

Guccigirl79 · 27/03/2012 14:23

yuk!! londonlivvy cant do smells either!! A couple of weeks ago they would've made me hurl!!! Hope you're not that bad :)

Good luck to all those with scans today, keep us posted how you get on.

Tried to do a bit of weeding when I got home from work, lasted about 20 minutes before my back was getting stiff & was fed up keep pulling my gloves back on!! DP back from work now so when I've peeled him out the chair I think we're going to nip into town for an hour seeing as though I cant tempt him with the lawnmower after my dibacle last week lol

lisbethsopposite · 27/03/2012 15:38

Angelico that was your first scan wasn't it. Delighted for you. Considering 12 weeks + you have been very restrained.

Like you I had a scan Monday after a bleed and there was bean, positively waving (they sleep most of the time) and I'm off sick for the week too. Unlike you, I'm actually not sick at all, but the bleed was a bit frightening and I'm advised a week's rest.

londonlivvy sushi for lunch sounds very posh. I don't think I could get sushi within 50 miles. Thank god, is all I can think at the moment. The idea of someone eating raw fish in front of me right now, is not good.

FjordMor · 27/03/2012 16:05

Jodidi - you have my sympathy with the 'hot teens' smell - I think that's the one smell at the moment guaranteed to make me pass out! Perhaps a hankie with something nice smelling on it to sniff would help? londonlivvy - as for the sushi smell - I'm afraid colleagues eating it in front of me would be hard for me too...but because I would want it sooooo bad. I loooove sushi and my only craving has been for strong fishy things! Struggling with MS today but even seeing your post made me miss it...If I were you I'd just 'let one out' in their general direction as revenge Shock Wink.

Angelico BIG congratulation on your scan Thanks. You must feel very relieved :).

velo - big sympathy re the Tiramisu. Wonder why she mentioned it so specifically? I would never have thought of it having raw eggs in...now, chocolate mousse for sure...

Beeblebear - The only time I've had those sparkles is when I've been running (I do so very rarely) and would get them at the point of the run where it started feeling very hard. Used to think it was from heavy sweating/dehydration but the oxygen thing makes sense I guess. I'm also asthmatic (fairly mildly) but I've never had it from that.

Have decided my little lime (or is it plum by now?) definitely grows in spurts. No symptoms for 7/10 days then running the whole gamut over a 48 hour period seems to be the pattern since 6/7 weeks. Just like his Mum - puts things off until the last minute then does them all at once in a big flurry Wink.

milk · 27/03/2012 16:09

Bean is alright :D

Due date now 2nd oct :)

FjordMor · 27/03/2012 16:58

Yay milk! Congrats! Grin

londonlivvy · 27/03/2012 17:00

Yay milk and angelico for happy scans. yay yay yay

still queasy. blasted colleagues.

Sushi however rocks, and Fjordmor I think we're allowed it
www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx#sushi
sometimes I do crave it but a fishy smell hanging around the office all afternoon? UGHGHGH

sorry for the whinge girls. Outta here soon for some fresh air.

FjordMor · 27/03/2012 17:06

londonlivvy - I think you may have just made my day! A quick call to my local sushi place to assess whether fish gets frozen first and way hey! Grin Top news! :)

Beeblebear · 27/03/2012 18:01

Oh i thought the sushi rule was not due to worms, but due to the high possibility of salmonella or listeria bacteria because it's not cooked the heat does not kill the bacteria. Same theory as the runny eggs.

milk · 27/03/2012 18:54

Thanks everyone :)

I can't wait till we are all in our 2nd trimester Grin

Zoeplankton · 27/03/2012 19:10

Woo hoo milk!

Thanks for backing my chosen course of action, ladies.

For those who missed it, we had a 'coming out' party, at which we served our guests a long-stored vintage magnum of champagne, with which to toast the baby.

One of the 'guests' literally tried to pull my champagne glass out of my hand.

The story did not end well for her.

milk · 27/03/2012 19:14

Zoeplankton- I am happy the party was a success :)

CWest30 · 27/03/2012 21:38

Well got work sorted, I can do the accounts thursday yay!

Not much else to report symptom wise, I'm just a bit queasy in the mornings, nothing else at all. RE the disappearing/reappearing bump, thats exactly what mine is like, yesteray I felt huge and bloated all day, today hrdly anything and my belly is quite soft - so frustrating!! Oh well 4 more sleeps then its scan day......

........not sure if to be excited or not, I'm absolutly convinced either nothing is there or something has gone wrong and baby has died. Sorry to be so morbid, its just my gut instinct, and I don't even know why. I guess its because I've had a stressful month, what with changing jobs and trying to find me feet, plus me and hubby have had a couple of major rows about stupid stuff (he works nights and doesn't sleep well in the day so is constantly knackered and of course thats the only thing that matters), so I've been in floods of tears a few times, and just worried I've caused bean too much stress, IF its even there!! Grrrrr, they tell u not to get stressed out, but I think waiting for the first scan is more stressful than ANYTHING!! Sorry for the rant, I'll shush now.
