The third instalment as we're a talkative bunch!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
squidkid · 04/03/2012 20:31

eh guys you're really sweet. I don't mean to cause drama. Daft squid, sorry.

Someone (whose motives are completely beyond me) sent me the link to her facebook so I saw for myself this lengthy comment about how much she hates me, so i know they're not making it up, but I'm not sure why anyone would tell me that! What someone writes on facebook is their own business of course, so I don't blame her or owt, I'm just a bit embarrassed now and I DON'T MEAN TO BE ANNOYING

twolittlemonkeys · 04/03/2012 20:37

Just marking my place on the new thread... Probably won't post any more until Thursday but even if I have miscarried, I'll continue to stalk you ladies - in the nicest possible way of course Grin

DameFlatYouLent · 04/03/2012 20:38

squid Sad How unnecessary of someone to direct you to that. I'd much rather be blissfully ignorant. So you'll stay?? Thanks

DameFlatYouLent · 04/03/2012 20:40

twolittlemonkeys fingers crossed for the best news for you. Take it as easy as you can, and hopefully you won't have to stalk!

HaggisNeepsTatties · 04/03/2012 20:45

Good luck TLM thinking of you x

OP posts:
MickeyTheShortOne · 04/03/2012 20:49

Fingers cross for you TLM. Please stay squid it's heartless sniping. Try not to let it get you down!
Haggis will you find out the sex? I want to but DP doesn't and theres no way of compromising really... Its my first and I'd like to know purely for my organisation!!
And has anyone tried the baking soda thing? Partners sat here laughing at me.. Blush

Midgetm · 04/03/2012 20:52

twolittlemonkeys got everything crossed for you. Please do post before Thursday as we all want to know how you are. I have a nasty feeling thugs are also not right with me but trying to remain positive and hope my cramps are more related to constipation...

squidkidcrikey whatever the ins and outs of it you must need that like a hole in the head. Mumsnet can be a vipers nest can't it? Let's focus on the bigger fish we we have to fry and the support we can give each other. Like bettybat says so wisely we probably shouldn't give it oxygen. Things like that prob best to keep to PM's, otherwise they just feed the beast. Anyway don't let it get to you, we are all mental enough right now.

HaggisNeepsTatties · 04/03/2012 20:53

mickey we won't find out the sex...in my book there are so few real surprises in life these days! And we've wanted this baby for so long that either sex will be amazing! (DH reckon's even though we won't ask, tha he'll be able to tell from the 20 week scan!)

OP posts:
squidkid · 04/03/2012 20:54

twolittlemonkeys I've been thinking of you all weekend. I'm so sorry you're having to wait until Thursday. I had a patient in a similar position to you on Friday, it was heartbreaking, I wish I could have got her in earlier than Monday for a scan. Am wishing for the best possible outcome for you xxxx

squidkid · 04/03/2012 20:56

I want to apologise for causing drama I was just a bit embarrassed and rattled by it all. I have no hard feelings towards anyone (life's too short) and will not mention it again. I may stick around but not write such rambling things about my daft life any more!

Midgetm · 04/03/2012 21:07

squid keep on rambling...

FjordMor · 04/03/2012 21:12

Thanks Bubblebell1 :) as for the baking soda thing...doesn't it fizz when you put it in water? I'm no scientist but I'd expect it to fizz if I peed on it. Might do it for a laugh though. I do want to know the sex but think I'll only trust the sonographer & only then if they are unequivically certain! :)

squid - I'm sorry it was true AND that someone felt the petty-minded need to direct you to it. I hope I didn't baby-brainedly & inadvertently imply you were the cause of the drama - quite the opposite. You're not annoying :) and your life always sounds different and interesting to me :) That was a sucky thing to happen to you.

Dame - lol'd at the 'wind dying down' Grin I thought you meant my windypops & thought 'how does she know!?' Wink

Angelico · 04/03/2012 21:35

Really pissed off that anyone is being put off coming on board - I'll echo what others have said - let's be here to support each other. And not sure who posted the FB link, may have been well-meaning but better not stirring the pot. From the beginning (due Oct 12 pt 1) this board was only ever supportive and it needs to stay that way. That's my tuppence worth!

Wind is howling here tonight but we had glorious sunshine earlier, got a nice walk on the beach and it was all very 'bracing' :) Feel well-rested so enjoying the feeling, even though I know I'll be dead on my feet by 10am tomorrow :) Have fun ladies xoxo

bettybat · 04/03/2012 21:40

Squid you're not the one causing drama, promise :) Whoever sent you that link was. I'd feel a bit self-conscious too, but we're all hormonally bat-shit crazy right now anyway, so who cares - let's chuck it all in together Grin

DH is at an event, I'm watching Claire Richards: Slave to Food, and mostly I just want to slap her with a wet fish. She is a wet fish! Bitch alert: if you wish to lose weight, perhaps not stocking your fridge with cheescake, ice cream, cakes, sweets and biscuits would be a start Hmm

Bubblebell1 · 04/03/2012 21:41

fjord that's what I thought so I googled it Blush and I saw on you tube a lady do the test and it didn't fizz. Duh duh derrrrr

TartyMcFarty · 04/03/2012 21:45

I have to admit that as a semi-lurker, I've been put off posting more on the October threads because of the drama over the last few days.

It's a shame as I'm spotting and having an EPAS scan tomorrow. I could've done with some support.

Any chance of a fresh thread?

squidkid · 04/03/2012 21:48

Just to clarify - the person who messaged me didn't send me the link, she said she was talking about me on facebook. Unfortunately this amounts to the same thing with me because I am uber-computer-savvy and it took me 30 seconds flat to find it. Moving on.

I have spent the last four hours on the sofa, alternating between reading my favourite bands' forums like a teenager and things about the NHS bill and weeping. Could do without work tomorrow... dealt with four miscarriages in two days tail end of last week. :(

Zoeplankton · 04/03/2012 21:51

Man, missbone got barred? That is deeply unpleasant. Does anyone know the reason given?

fjordmor I don't know if this is an urban myth or not, but I know a woman who knows a woman (and there's the myth status) who got chronically sick going on a baot while pregnant. The idea is that, for an unlucky minority of pregnant women, going on a boat/getting seasick can become a permanent thing - like it resets your sense of balance or something? Not sure if I'm being a scaremonger or not... Sorry if that's unhelpful (or wrong!)

Kyyria · 04/03/2012 22:14

Just getting slightly off topic...

Currently don't have a tumble dryer - just have a clothes airer. I have a feeling that having a tumble dryer with a little one is a necessity...

Cash is a little tight at the moment, DH has just been given a 3 month warning that he will be being made redundant (fantastic timing) and I'm wondering if we could survive without a tumble dryer.

Any thoughts??

FjordMor · 04/03/2012 22:15

Zoeplankton - good to know. In fact now I'm hedging my bets & going a slightly longer way around so I can cross by Oslofjord where the sea is usually calmer. So not looking forward to 4 (4!!) nights alone in hotels though Sad Sad.

TartyMcFarty (great name btw) Just interested but why a fresh thread? We just did start one. And if we started a fresh thread it would still be all the same crowd (unless you're suggesting 'a splinter thread'?). Actually there IS another thread for October due people - over in the 'Ante-natal clubs' section of 'Becoming a parent' topics if you feel this one is not for you. I hope you feel able to participate here. This was just one of those things and it's done with now :) I find this a friendly, supportive & a non-judgmental place to come and be hormonal :) I'm sorry you felt you couldn't post about your spotting & hope you get some reassurance at your scan :)

Sumsey · 04/03/2012 22:44

bloody hell...whats all this nonsense....no one has ever said a bad word about anyone on here!! Angry

especially not missbone!.....its sad that some people have managed to cancel/freeze the account.....and mumsnet is worth less without her being on here...xxxxxx

love to all u ladies and keep safe x x x Thanks

thinking of all who are having a hard time of late...much love from someone who has experienced similar pains xxx

FjordMor · 04/03/2012 23:04

Oh & Bubblebell that's good enough for me to go and find the baking soda then... Grin

Angelico · 04/03/2012 23:26

Tarty good luck with the scan tomorrow - sending good vibes xo And don't worry about another thread, the dust will settle :)

Kyyria I'm sure a tumble would be useful but tbh you can prob get away with sticking stuff on the radiators :) One tip - if you know any plumbers / joiners ask them to keep an ear to the ground for second hand ones people are getting rid of. Often if people get a new kitchen in they will want integrated electrical goods and have a perfectly decent old tumble that they need rid of. I got a free dishwasher and a budget cast iron stove because a relative was working in houses where people wanted rid of them.

Good luck all with work tomorrow xo

Guccigirl79 · 04/03/2012 23:30

Omg the drama!! Personally I think its ridiculous the lengths some folk will go to to ensure anothers misery. We are not 15 yrs of age or in a playground,so nobody should be made to feel they cant freely come on here to talk about their experience.
There,rant over!!!!)

I hope this thread continues to be supportive & insightful :-)

lisbethsopposite · 05/03/2012 00:16

It has taken me DAYS to catch up. There has been bits of drama but the heart of it is still there - we all want our beans to be stickey.
I had the luxury of a scan and a heart beat 3 weeks back. This is pregnancy #2 for me. DS is 18 months. Anyway it is SO different from first time round I wonder if I'm pregnant at all. Last time I was constantly sick at this stage, I wore a dress to a wedding at 19 weeks that I would not fit into now at 9 weeks!! I lost weight during the first pregnancy.
This time, I'm eating like a pig. Oh yeah, and DH had flu last week and lost a stone! Which strangely makes me feel fatter.

Squidkid - please don't leave. Please. I don't know how to work facebook, I don't even get the concept. You seem like a wonderful person in RL. To some, including me, you seem to 'have it all' - a great family, partner, circle of friends, career, body, sex life... Especially, you seem to have a great capacity for happiness. You seem to give and receive love. BUT You have your career because you have worked hard for it. Also you put in a big effort in your relationships, visiting and hanging out after a long day at work. I'm inspired by you. I'm shocked at what you are currently describing as an easy job.

twolittlemonkeys - at my first pregnancy, in the early days at an early scan, they saw a pocket of blood. They didn't really explain where it came from, perhaps implantation, but there is a lot going on. They said I may bleed it or the body absorb it. The risk was that if it came away in a gush it would dislodge the bean with it. Anyway I was sent home on rest for a few days. I slept for 2. It was gone a week later, and I had an uneventful pregnancy later. If you have a heartbeat, and you have, it may be something like that. Please try not to do any lifting.
I'm really rooting for you and your bean.

I have my first scan booked for March 12. I think I'll go to Tesco tomorrow and get some of the cheap pregnancy kits:)
I'm happy now, decision made. Goodnight all.
