ViolaCrayola · 29/12/2011 08:28

Is there anyone around who has just found out that they are pregnant and are due in Sept?
I know it's very early days but I thought maybe I could get the ball rolling...
I'm due around Sept 4th I think, with DC2, feeling very happy if a bit nervous :)

Oh Spuddy that's awful. I hope you're ok and the neuro tests have good results. I'm sure you and your baby are ok or the hospital wouldn't have let you go home on your own. Still very scary, can you take yourself off to bed and sleep til your DP gets home? Sending you good health wishes.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 12/01/2012 21:35

Oh spuddy hope you are ok. Xxx

Whatevertheweather · 12/01/2012 21:37

Oh Spuddy big hugs. Right I hope you are comfortably ensconced in bed/on the sofa nice and warm with easy access to drinks, snacks, medication (if taking), something to distract you - books, tv remote, iPod and a telephone. I can't remember is this your first dc? Is there anybody even just a neighbour who you could let know what is happening just in case you need someone before dh is back? You poor love. We are here xx

fatsamsgrandslam · 12/01/2012 21:42

Oh my goodness! That sounds awful Spuddybean. Hope you manage to rest until your DH gets home. Take care.

Spuddybean · 12/01/2012 22:08

Thanks all. i have had some soup and am trying to relax. Fuck all good on telly tho.

david i felt my left eye vision go then when i stood up i lost the feeling in my left side. work rushed me to hospital.

whatever this is my 1st and the day after i conceived i lost the sight in my right eye Headache and big grey curtain came down) and the neurologist diagnosed optic neuritis, now it looks like there is more going on in my brain/blocking signals. Normally i would have an MRI, as it could be onset of a lot of things - including MS. But i have to wait till i am 13 wks.

I only started my this job last week so i must look like a right pain. i think i will need to tell them i am pregnant.

My grandfather also had a stroke today. My mum is beside herself with worry :(

Cheers again. I'll try to be positive.

Davidsmom · 12/01/2012 22:23

My goodness it gets worse I didnt realise you had had problems with the other eye too.

why do they need to wait til 13 weeks for the MRI? I was recommended an MRI for pelvic problems when I thought I might be pregnant and was assured there were no known contraindications! Did look into it at the time and couldnt find anything against it myself. But as it wasnt urgent I waited til I knew I wasnt. Was 4 years ago tho so may have changed.

I think it would be a good idea to tell work you are pregnant- I am sure they will understand your concerns even without being pregnant they are scary enough.

Agree telly shite terrible tonight

Davidsmom · 12/01/2012 22:30

Had a quick google and there is theoretical risk in first trimester with MRI & not recommended unless essential. So obviously got crap advice for my routine scan!

Thinking of you. Hope you get some rest.

ThreeForTea · 12/01/2012 22:34

Hello 6+ 4 here, feeling it this week. Feeling happy that not having intense nausea that I had for the full 41 weeks last pregnancy. Either that or got so used to it that I'm just feeling like its my normal state.

Just saw my best friend's scrummy newborn baby so feeling a bit melty. Had a long cuddle while she was eating her dinner :)

I just remembered something from my last pregnancy that I don't know if will be helpful to anyone. I had a quite red wipe when I must have been around six weeks, followed by around ten days of brownish discchge. Was a totally normal pregnancy apart from that. I didn't even find out I was pg until then. (was convinced I had irritable bowel syndrome, had never had unprotected sex in my life!)

Macaroons · 13/01/2012 08:53

spuddy so sorry to hear what you are going through, hope things will work out fine. Your hubby will be back very soon. Take care and all the best!

winky and ethered - thanks for the info and the reassurance, I hope I'm one of the lucky few then! (I know it's silly to complain about the lack of MS!)

Iph · 13/01/2012 09:03

Spuddy, I can't believe what you are going through and how scary that must be. Hold tight until Dh is home, not long now. Don't do anything at all this weekend and
if you feel any more symptoms, don't even hesitate, just call an ambulance.

I hope you get some answers on Monday. Will be thinking of you.

Plumsieinaonesie · 13/01/2012 09:13

Am removing myself from the list.

Looks like its all over for me, stared bleeding last night, had a little over night.

I don't know what to do now, I only went to the gp yesterday and sorted out my medication, as have a blood clotting disorder.

Good luck to all.

Rusulka · 13/01/2012 09:37

Spuddy hope things are improving now your DH is nearly back. Take care of yourself and don't do a thing!
I am in a similar situation re: support network, as moved down to Kent to be with DH, but family & friends live in Norfolk. My dad had a liver transplant in May and it was horrible not being able to be with him. Fortunately I have DH's dad & sister here who are awesome, but I have to say that it really helps to just pick up the phone and call my parents. You can always do that, right?

Plumsie sorry to hear your news. FX it all works out for you and is just a scare, there's a few of us having one of those at the mo!

This morning the brown seems to have slightly abated. Don't know if this is because I have been horizontal for 9 hours though... would be cautiously optimistic if it wasn't for the fact that I didn't feel morning-sicky this am. Also did another test and I'm sure it's paler than yesterday's, but DH says he thinks they're the same.
I know ultimately we have to wait and see and there's nothing we can do either way, but it's going to be a loooooong wait by the phone for that call from the EPU...and I don't even know where it is!
Knowing my luck it'll be in sodding Essex, and I don't have a bloody car.
Grump.

lurkingmurking · 13/01/2012 10:19

I'm a newbie Grin got a BFP yesterday and another this morning - boobs are killing me and some mild cramping and awful headaches! I have DS who was two in December - very very excited but also slightly freaking out.

Spuddy that sounds very scary - glad your DH is back

Plumsie sorry to hear your news.

Plumsie sorry to hear about the bleeding, echo what others have said and hope that it turns out to be "nothing".

Spuddy hope your DH is back now and able to offer the support and hugs you need, your poor thing going through that alone - we are all here for support if you need it!

I have reached the 7 week milestone today I think (?) and have 7 days to wait for my private scan, it can't go quick enough.

Good luck to all x

Spuddybean · 13/01/2012 10:52

oh dear plumsie i am very sorry.

My DP still not back so i presume a delay. i am laying in bed, quite groggy, eating a yogurt, waiting for him to get home and make me a bacon and egg sandwich and a big mug of tea! The house is a state so i have warned him! i was going to try to clean, but then i thought 'er what the fuck am i doing'

AmandinePoulain · 13/01/2012 10:58

Sorry to hear that plumsie, have you contacted anyone to see if you can get a scan?

Yay for 7 weeks loup, me too tomorrow Grin

Glad you're ok this morning spuddy and that dh is on his way to wait on you look after you

quitcomplaining · 13/01/2012 11:03

So sorry to hear that Sad

This may sound like a dumb question for someone who's dd is only 18 months but I can't remember the process Blush

Do I call the docs and and book straight in with midwife for booking appointment? Or do I book in with nurse first to get ball rolling?

I'm only 4 weeks so wanted to hold off ringing until Monday to be totally 'sure' if that makes sense.

TinkerMaloo · 13/01/2012 11:07

quitcomplaining this is my third child, DD is 15 months, and i cant remember whats neccessary lol, i made a docs appointment for monday anyway... not sure its really needed though! maybe i should have just told them i need to get a booking in app with midwife!

AmandinePoulain · 13/01/2012 11:09

I just phoned and booked an appointment with the mw for next week, when I'll be nearly 8 weeks. I haven't seen a gp, but I have spoken to one over the phone when I needed an epu referral.

lurkingmurking · 13/01/2012 11:26

I'm going to visit the GP week after next I think as I've heard our local hospital is manic so want to make sure I get referred in good time for scan.

I will have a private scan though I think too to put my mind at rest.

Littlecherublegs · 13/01/2012 11:39

Morning all,

Sorry to hear about some of the stressful, awful, upsetting times some of you are going through. This pregnancy lark is such a rollercoaster huh?!

I dont have many/any symptoms at the mo at all - but am still laid up in bed with a very bad cold and feel rotten. Hope baby is ok though I've been assured a cold in pregnancy is fine and even can be seen as a symptom (own immune system low as baby taking nutrients etc.)

In terms of contacting the GP / MW - I havent yet. I was going to wait until I missed another period (so about 8 weeks) before going to the docs who will then book me in with the MW. Think it will all seem much more real by then... The wait isn't much fun though!!

Spuddybean · 13/01/2012 11:49

RANT ALERT!

'D' P has just arrived home and i am upstairs in bed (erm i have had a stroke!) he comes in and i shout down hello, he replies hello. Then i just hear him pottering around downstairs (am i being mad to expect him to come straight up to see how i am?). So a few mins later i call down 'aren't you coming up to see me?' he sighs and says 'aren't you coming down to see me' i say 'er i'm the one who's had a stroke'.

He then gets into bed next to me, no kissing me or 'oh how are you' or anything and AND (this is the best bit) starts reading a s8x book! I tell him he's being out of order and he sighs that he has had a long journey and is tired. So i get out of bed and he says 'oh come back' and starts being nice to me. He is sleeping now and has promised to make it up to me. I know he's tired and worried but REALLY? Surely he can muster some empathy.

He is always an arse when he comes home from working away - he gets used to being alone and forgets how to be nice.

I suppose i'll make my own bacon sandwich :(

Rusulka · 13/01/2012 11:54

Oh spuddy! Lol. Men, honestly.
If you do make it yourself he'll feel horribly guilty, so maybe it will help?
Once he's had a sleep, he'll be more attentive I'm sure. Men can only cope with one thing at a time, so once he's slept the next thing on the list will be you.

You've at least pushed me to action- I fancy some crusty toast!
[potters off to kitchen]
