Is there anyone around who has just found out that they are pregnant and are due in Sept?
I know it's very early days but I thought maybe I could get the ball rolling...
I'm due around Sept 4th I think, with DC2, feeling very happy if a bit nervous :)

Iph · 09/01/2012 18:08

macaroons the sonographer first tried abdominally and I was pretty sure I could see the yolk sac from that view but he said it wasn't quite clear enough so we switched to transvaginal. I do have a fair bit of padding around my middle which may have obscured the view Blush

If you really want an early scan I would try to hold off until at least 7, ideally 8, weeks if you can as there is much more to see by then and it could add to your stress to have it too early.

ahhhhhpushit · 09/01/2012 18:13

Heeelloo!!!!

Can I join??

Early days but EDD of 19/9/12 :) We already have a 14m old DS.

Macaroons · 09/01/2012 18:31

Thanks for your tips, iph I'll try to book it for two weeks later. Wink

And welcome, ahhpushit

Whatevertheweather · 09/01/2012 18:38

Iph so pleased everything is looking much more positive. My early scan is 25th Jan as well so we can count down together Smile

Welcome Aaahpushit

Sorry your landlords being a twat cakeismysaviour. What is the private rental market in your area like at the moment? Round here it's pretty buoyant as people are struggling to get mortgages private rents are creeping up. If the rental market is sluggish where you are use that as a bargaining tool. So pleased we managed to buy back in 2007 just before dd1 was born even though it's probably worth less than we paid now!

quitcomplaining · 09/01/2012 19:56

Hello all... Looks like I'll be joining you! Got my bfp today. Edd sept 20th by my dates. We already have an 18 month old dd.

Iph · 09/01/2012 20:40

Welcome and congratulations ahhpushit and quitcomplaining

whatever glad we can slowly go insane count down together :)

Thanks all. I'm feeling much calmer than before but a leetle bit of nausea wouldn't go amiss in terms of reassurance at this point.

Choedron · 09/01/2012 20:41

Hi unfortunately I miscarried over the weekend so no longer will be following the thread. good luck to all x

Dorita75 · 09/01/2012 21:12

I'm so sorry choedron, sending lots of love to you xxx

Littlecherublegs · 10/01/2012 09:16

So sorry Choedron, I've been through it too and its awful.

Welcome newcomers to the thread - one of which is me! Not added myself to the list yet but will! EDD is 15/09/12.

As I previously said though, am very cautious at this very early stage as have been through the MC rubbish-ness previously (after 5 weeks) so not counting my chickens yet THOUGH do feel very hopeful this time!!
Have some symptoms too (I think?!) - feeling sick and tired plus my nipples seem to have grown and are very sore??!!
Cant wait for the 12 week scan though which seems ages away!!

AmandinePoulain · 10/01/2012 09:40

Sorry to those of you who have had a bad time Sad

I've had my scan and all looks well, I'm so relieved. Measuring right for dates too Smile

Oh no, Choedron I'm so sorry for your loss. I know not very much makes it easier at a time like this but please be kind to yourself and I hope you are being taken good care of.

Iph · 10/01/2012 10:58

Welcome littlecherubslegs there's sadly a lot of us who have a previous loss on this thread so hopefully we can support each other.

amandine what great news! Have been thinking about you as I also discovered the BDOD (brown discharge of doom) not long after you'd posted.
Did you get to see a heart beat?

AmandinePoulain · 10/01/2012 11:03

Yes, saw the hb. Baby is 6mm which is a good size for 6 weeks according to dr google! There's an area of bleeding near the sac which I'm assured is normal and nothing to worry about, doesn't mean I'm not worrying about it though Wink!

Macaroons · 10/01/2012 11:11

Sorry about your loss choedron and welcome to new joiners!

I'm 6 week pregnant now but can't feel much difference apart from minor discomfort in the abdominal area. And I can no longer keep my stomach in...

Is it a good idea to have jabs while pregnant? We booked a holiday to Maldives while TTC-ing and I'm now 6 weeks pregnant, will be 9-10 week during holiday. We will be staying in a resort, tripadvisor feedbacks have no mention of tummy bugs so it feels quite safe, but you never know Confused Will be going to GP for advice tmr but just thought I'd pick your brains here.

Some website said wait 4 weeks till you try to get pregnant after vaccinations, what would you do if you were me? I thought Maldives is a popular destination for pregnant women - last relaxation holiday before baby is born? Wonder if other pregnant women have vaccinations while pregnant

Macaroons · 10/01/2012 11:13

Amandine you saw the heartbeat? How exciting!!!

fatsamsgrandslam · 10/01/2012 11:34

Can I join? Have been lurking for the past fortnight, but am taking the plunge. So sorry that so many ladies are facing a mc or spotting issues. Sad It really does bring it home how precious each pregnancy is.

I'm pg with 2nd dc, due 3rd sept. No symptoms to speak of other than sore boobs (which I constantly grope for reassurance!). Am wishing the next few weeks away, need that 12 week scan to set my mind at ease.

I'm on my iPhone so will add myself to the list when I'm next on my laptop.

Loup23 · 10/01/2012 12:20

Welcome fatslam, congratulations!

Great news amandine sorry posted on other thread too - great you got to see a HB, I have a provate scan booked for 8 weeks and am hoping that all is ok and I get to see a HB too..!

How are you getting on IPH? Hope the bleeding has stopped....

Hotcupofteaplease · 10/01/2012 12:42

So sorry Choedron; take care of yourself.

Iph glad to hear things look more positive; here's hoping the BDOD disappears completely.

Great news for you Amandine!

Welcome & congratulations to the new ladies!

I have a question for all of the ladies who have been pregnant before; did your DC1 arrive early, on time or late?

Another question for all of those who have two or more DC's; if your DC1 was early, on time or late, did DC2, DC3 etc follow suit?

The reason I ask is DS was early, and I am wondering whether it is likely this will happen again... Confused

sketti · 10/01/2012 13:32

so sorry Choedron, take care of self, my sis miscarried before she went on to have to healthy children not long after.

my ds1 was 2wk early so be interested in what ppl have to say.

fatsamsgrandslam · 10/01/2012 13:33

Hi hotcup! My ds was late (induction started at 40+10 and he was born at 40+12). Am hoping this one won't have to be induced (but if it does - hey ho! It was fine) but equally would rather it not come early because of school admittance etc! They say second babies come earlier than the first, but there are always LOADS of exceptions to the rule!

Iph · 10/01/2012 13:39

Yay for a heartbeat amandine, it's amazing what a difference a couple of days makes at this stage isn't it?

Welcome fatsam and congratulations!

BDOD still lingering but much less than it was and no more red blood thankfully (I've never wiped so much in my life!)

hotcuppa my first DC was born at 37.2, after an awesome 5 hour labour and fully cooked, weighing 7lbs 11oz. Needless to say this gave me rather high expectations of DC2's birth and I was certain I would go early again.
Soooooo by the time she arrived at 40.2, after gruelling 12 hour back-to-back labour, I already felt 3 weeks over due and a lot less smug about my amazing ability to pop babies out with ease! :o

Poppyjen · 10/01/2012 13:42

Hi ladies, welcome to all of the newbies - this is gearing up to be a busy thread Smile

My morning (ha ha) sickness has kicked in now so that alongside the extreme exhaustion is making me a very boring mummy to DS at the moment, the poor thing is having very basic (i.e. sandwich based) lunch and dinner at the moment as I just can't face cooking....

Hotcup in answer to your question, my DS (DC1) was 16 days late Shock . In fact I wanted to say to all of you lovely ladies to try to be as sure of your dates as you can be as I am convinced mine were about a week out. Even though I explained at the start of my pregnancy that I thought I had ovulated late my notes used the standard LMP method of calculating the due date.

This meant that not only did I miss out on the birth centre I was booked into, I was convinced by the hospital (based on nothing but the dates) that I needed to be induced and following that ended up with a c-section. I am not saying that I may not have had a c-section anyway but I can't help but think that DS wasn't actually as overdue as everyone assumed and the induction wasn't really necessary. Who knows what would have happened if I had gone into labour naturally....

Anyway ladies don't be like me and get carried away sticking to a due date that is too early because it makes you feel like the time will go quicker, it may be important at the end

Sorry for that rant, not sure where that came from Blush

AmandinePoulain · 10/01/2012 13:55

Dd was born at 39 weeks by scans, 38+3 by dates. My "textbook" labour with quick 4 hour first stage went on to a 4 hour second stage with emcs though. I'm hoping for an elective cs if I get that far this time.
