Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hi, Congratulations to everyone, my first time posting here. Ive Just found out I'm Pregnant and I'm feeling very nervous and shocked. I'm pregnant with dc3 d

practicallyimperfect · 11/12/2011 15:09

Hi, just found out pregnant with dc2. Only 4 weeks so due around 20th august.

littleredmouse · 11/12/2011 15:29

mrsmamma what book would that be? i've borrowed a Zita West one and she mentions importance of bonding with baby early on and being positive.

mrsmamma · 11/12/2011 16:28

It's the fourth edition of what to expect when ur expecting! Ive read various things on net too about the importance of being positive!! Like I said I'm trying but still desperate for my 12 week scan!! X

NathanDetroit · 11/12/2011 16:34

hi and hello to new people. Very exciting stuff!
I saw my parents today and my mum mentioned me having a baby about three times in the space of an hour and I haven't even told her yet. I think she'll explode when I do!

I'm very impressed with those of you who are good at exercising. I'm really bad about it and now isn't really the time to restart couch to 5k! I did see a yoga leaflet in the cafe so I'm going to start pregnancy yoga once I get to 13 weeks, here's hoping I do.

Been really up and down emotionally yesterday but I think that was because I was hanging around at home doing not much which is quite unusual for me. Busy busy today and feeling a lot more positive. I guess that means a bit more going out for DH and I which isn't such a bad thing. :)

glittershoes · 11/12/2011 18:48

Hello and congratulations to you new people!

I am quite up and down as well, most of the time I am so excited and can't wait but sometimes I fret, mainly about something going wrong but, as was just now, the fact that I can't have a glass of wine in a lovely restaurant for pretty much the next year!

mrsmamma · 11/12/2011 21:10

I know, it sucks not being able to drink at Christmas!! Didn't think o was a big drinker but I'm going to miss the wine!! I've had to stop myself crying 3 times today! I have the baby centre baby app on my phone n today's message was about early miscarriage in pregnancy! All the other stuff had been so positive n this upset me a bit! Sad

I think I nod it hard as I don't 'feel' pregnant so think that's a bad sign Blush anyway this is not me being positive

mrsmamma · 11/12/2011 21:11

That's meant to say find it hard not nod it ha ha

Angel786 · 11/12/2011 21:18

Congratulations and welcome to all the new people!

I think wrt exercise it's ok to carry on with what you're used to - ice skating is probably ok but I don't think I'd risk it as if anything did happen and I'd fallen over I'd just assume it was because of that?... I love ice skating but couldn't go last year due to pg and same again now!

I know what you mean mrsmamma about not feeling pg yet. But I checked my pg diary from last time and didn't start to get nausea til 8 weeks which is another week and a half away for me. Just trying to make the most of it and eat all I can before I end up on just crisps for dinner again!

Westcountrywife · 11/12/2011 21:40

Hey guys, hello and congratulations to all the newbies! Grin

Well, just back from weekend away with friend and HAD to tell her as a while weekend with a drinking buddy would have been too obvious! first time to properly chat about it and get all excited! I've been doing the name thing to...

Still off the food, DH is currently eating French onion soup which is making me feel a bit odd. I've also started to feel like I have trapped wind, but in the wrong place... anyone else getting that?

Well guys, another week closer to the magic 13 weeks...!

practicallyimperfect · 11/12/2011 22:41

We really wanted to keep it a secret from everyone until 12 weeks this time (first time was an accident, and I was so shocked that told family immediately).

But my parents are coming for Christmas and although I am not a big drinker, I do like a wine. I can't stand the taste at moment, so will have to say.

Westcountrywife · 11/12/2011 23:02

Practicallyimperfect, we (DH and me) had a discussion about this and came to the conclusion that you only don't tell people in case 'bad things' happen. So we are only telling those people who we would want to know that anyway... So feeling very comfortable telling parents but swearing them to secrecy... Wink

Failing that a weak wine squash doesn't harm and if you're hosting you also get to do glass filling (including secret wine squash)! Grin

mrsmamma · 12/12/2011 07:11

Westcountrywife me and my husband had the same conversation before 12 weeks we would only tell those closest to us so people we wud tell if something happened!

Saying that he told his brother that we r not that close to so wasn't chuffed about that! My husband Is a builder and generally spends a few days at someone's house and then moves on so he tells everyone because they don't know us But he gets to talk about it, so unfAir

glittershoes · 12/12/2011 09:47

We are the same re telling people - only people who we would turn to if something went wrong. So far my Mum and her partner know (very excited, plus made me sit down rather than help everyone carrying the 9 foot Christmas tree!) and we are telling DH's Dad and his partner on Wednesday night.

So hard not to tell the world though - it is so exciting! I just keep wishing on eyelashes and stars that everything goes beautifully and am counting down the days to January for the scan.

Even tried to persuade DH that we book a private scan for early January as we have a week in Scotland booked with friends when I will be about 10 weeks (touching wood...) and I would love to go with the knowledge that things are looking good.

technoduck · 12/12/2011 11:17

mind if i join in on this one?! have done about 5 tests now, came up really faint to start off but now got a very strong line!!!! so should be about 4ish weeks now, been trying since aug. gotta see the doctor on weds still cant quite belive it! this is my first time so everything is still very new to me! have very sore boobs and my tummy feels abit tight at times!

practicallyimperfect · 12/12/2011 12:50

That is what we did last time, but not sure how my mum will react. I think she thinks ds will by an only (but we changed minds). I really wanted to keep it our secret for as long as possible. Once she knows she won't shut up about it. It'll be all about plans, cots etc. There is ages for all that!

mrsmamma · 12/12/2011 13:40

Technoduck that's exactly how I felt when I first found out! I'm 7 1/2 weeks now ! Still have sore boobs but tightness in stomach has gone. Congrats

littleredmouse · 12/12/2011 19:13

we're keeping it secret for as long as possible. I'm not close to my family so if anything goes wrong they won't be helpful. I think being on here will help as its a hard thing to keep to yourself. I'm very worried due to my age, even though I know loads of women in their 40s have healthy babies (and i even know some of them!) Having said that I do think of my little bean and imagine it sticking in there and being healthy so i'm not in denial or refusing to acknowledge it due to possible loss. I got 2 new books today, one from library (not much choice they were all almost all out) , one from amazon , so shall enjoy them tonight.

practicallyimperfect · 12/12/2011 20:39

Well I told my mum and she was shocked, but seemed happy. She is a little worried I think (I had PND with ds) but I have assured her I think!

Gnomi · 12/12/2011 20:46

Hi everyone,

Not checked in for a while but thought I'd give a little update. We went to see the midwife today. Turns out I'm 10 weeks already, and due on July 12th! So I'm not even due in August. I hope you don't mind me lurking around here - I feel like Ive got to know you all a bit.

We're going to tell our families over Christmas. We met up with SIL over the weekend - she's 8 weeks, so we'll be due very close together. She's telling everyone already though as she feels confident. DH would still like us to wait for our scan picture though.

When are you all planning on telling work?

Angel786 · 12/12/2011 21:07

gnomi wow! Not long till 12 weeks Grin. Of course you're more than welcome to stay and share your experiences with us all.

Am going to try and hide it from work as long as pos as only just back from mat leave (as of last week) and don't want them minimizing salary increase / bonuses etc...

Turns out I spoke too soon. Morning sickness started today and had forgotten how grim it is and even worse not being able to moan about it as it's a secret!

Do people ask you it it was planned? I find it slightly rude?! Confused

SwanseaMum · 12/12/2011 21:11

ooh gnomi, your due 4days after me lol
got my 12 week scan on the 29th so yours will be around the same time :)

mrsmamma · 12/12/2011 21:25

Gnome how come ur due date changed?

Not yet about work! I'm still on probation only been there 2 months so probation review up in jan so going to hold off telling until I'm showing!!

practicallyimperfect · 12/12/2011 21:49

At your 12 week scan they give you an updated due date based on measurements of foetus. Last time mine went back by 4 days. This time mine will be early, as my cycle is 30days, but the NHS base it on 28day cycle.
