Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hi everybody!

littleredmouse I sympathize with your concerns. I can get concerned about anything, and I am of "advanced maternal age" (just saw that on my ultrasound referral form!) at 39 and so am full of all kinds of worries and angst. My sister had hers at 40 and 42 and everybody at my work who has been off on maternity leave lately has been around that age, so it seems to be the way things are done these days!

Ohh, Angel, morning sickness, too bad! I really hope I don't get that - was feeling quite smug because I read that one normally gets it by now, and I have no sign of it. But, I also read that if you suffer from motion sickness you are more likely to get it, and I have always suffered quite badly from that. I hope yours is short-lived.

crazyforbaby · 13/12/2011 03:40

Hi there, unfortunately my sickness etc subsided and I am now having a v heavy period. I don't think we will be going down this road again BUT I wish you all happy and healthy pregnancies x

Westcountrywife · 13/12/2011 06:55

Hugs CFB... x.

Westcountrywife · 13/12/2011 07:01

I have already told my boss, but thence knew it was something I was planning. I guess I am lucky that he is really supportive. He gave me a hug, which was an odd moment...

They are not SUPPOSED to treat you any differently if you are pregnant and in fact them knowing should be good as in the support they should give,. However I work in HR and am definitely not that naive to believe it always happens! Wait as long as you think you need to but it may also be worth telling a trusted colleague just so someone can look out for you!

Westcountrywife · 13/12/2011 07:02

Thence? Er.... Meant 'then he'.

Deafworm · 13/12/2011 07:03

Hi everyone, I've just found out I'm pg with dc4, so many thoughts and worries spinning round my head but I'm focusing on having a positive and a stinking case of all day sickness combined with serious smell sensitivity, today I'm going to eat Christmas lunch at my dds school as I'm a governor, to say I'm concerned is an understatement!Xmas Grin

Deafworm · 13/12/2011 07:04

So sorry crazyforbaby

hamncheese · 13/12/2011 08:24

woohoo congratulations to all due in august :D i got a positive on friday really exciting, thought i was having double vision with the extra line!

we all have it the worst for the no drinking, being early in the party season! plan on telling the immediates on the 24th though, don't think i can keep the news in longer than that even though will only be 8wks then.

as for weird symptoms i got bum ache for a week before i tested (5th week)... like a bed sore from sitting down!

:D

glittershoes · 13/12/2011 09:34

So sorry crazyforbaby.

I am just totally stressed today, I have woken up with a full on cold which, despite my DH's insistance that it will not affect my pregnancy (he has read some on the book already Xmas Grin ), I can't help but worry.

I just want to be at 12 weeks and having my scan now! It is so hard 'just hoping' that everything will be ok.

technoduck · 13/12/2011 09:36

Congrats and welcome to the newbies.

Panicartist really hope you evade the morning sickness. Am feeling awful! It seems worse than first time around as permanently feel like I have sick at back of my throat. Sorry if TMI! Am guzzling ginger ale...

So sorry cfb i am so gutted for you xx

rslnd · 13/12/2011 17:10

Hi- would like to join this thread too. Also due early Aug (just over 6 weeks now with my 1st). So excited but although I thought I was a pretty chilled person have turned into a bit of a crazy worrier! Symptoms seem to have subsided a bit in last couple days although they do seem to be coming and going. No sickness though.
The time seems to go SO slowly!

NathanDetroit · 13/12/2011 19:38

so sorry for crazyforbaby, sending you much love.

It's a crazy making time, for sure.
Very disappointed today as I thought I was about 5 weeks and did one of those clearblue tests that tell you how far along you are and I'm 3+. BAH!

I've sort of made my peace with the time passing so slowly now and just looking forward to the new year when time should be getting us somewhere!

mrsmamma · 13/12/2011 20:03

3+ is the highest, I don't think it goes any further than that so u may be 5 weeks Smile

NathanDetroit · 13/12/2011 20:42

aw, thanks mrsmamma - I think it says on the leaflet it goes to 5, but I'll check. Have just started feeling really really bloody sick so either it's my partner's cooking or there is something in there!!

x

PoppySeed34 · 13/12/2011 21:04

NathanDetroit if the clearblue digital thing says 3+ it means it's 3+ weeks since you conceived, which means in doctors terms you'll be 5+ weeks pregnant (as the first two weeks are calculated from the first day of your last period). I've only just found this all out myself, and that's the same tests I used. hope the sickness doesn't get too bad..!

hello everyone new

really sorry to hear that crazyforbaby :(

No symptoms really, apart from the weeing thing and lots of period pains and being VERY tired. My desk is so far away from the toilet as well, so I have to pretend I'm getting a drink, or taking files somewhere so no one will be suspicious....

mrsmamma · 13/12/2011 21:18

I'm really tired too I go to bed at 9 everynight n sleep until morning! Then at work I'm exhausted!

Sat night I'm due out with the girls, a night in my pregnant state, I organised! Only one of my friends knows who is also pg but like 35 weeks ! I don't really wanna say anything yet but don't know how I'll get away with not drinking! I feel nervous about telling them as we are all party girls n I know they won't think much of it ( they didn't when my mate told them she was) they are not settled down n just on different wave lengths! Any advice how I can either a hide it or b break the news

NathanDetroit · 13/12/2011 21:34

mrsmamma - could you say you are trying and this is the time & you don't want to drink? I did that during that time although still managed to get drunk! I'm not much of a drinker at all usually so no-one's surprised when I don't drink. Or go for the soda as G&T option? Or could you say you accidentally got drunk at home the night before and can't face it?

I'm worrying about Xmas day & being given pate and somehow giving it to DH...or not eating it. I flipping LOVE pate so it'll be awkward.

Gnomi · 13/12/2011 22:13

Aahh, I love this thread!

So sorry crazyforbaby, my thoughts are with you.

MrsMamma, I just think I worked out my dates wrong - we fell on the first cycle so I didn't know how long my cycles were, and it took ages for the BFP to show up - 3 weeks past the day AF was due. The midwife just worked it out in this old-school dial thing!

I'm so tired, literally falling asleep at 8pm then having to force myself to stay awake so I'm not awake half the night - have always struggled with insomnia. Morning nausea kicking in too - DH is getting up to make me dry toast as soon as I get up. It seems to be worst if I don't eat. After about 11am I'm fine though.

Right, it's definitely time to go to sleep now!

Angel786 · 14/12/2011 01:24

gnomi wish I read your post earlier! Went to bed at 8 pm and now wide awake at 1am....

Also still feeling sick.

poppy the loo thing is a 'mare! We are open plan and the loos are on the exact opposite side of the office from me so havecto walk past a hundred odd people to go to the loos. They must think I have a v weak bladder / drug problem!

Deafworm · 14/12/2011 07:55

Mrsmama you could go with getting coke and saying there's vodka, Malibu etc in it, I had a night out last night, had pre ordered the pate and couldn't drink so thought the game was up but told 2 close friends and sat with them and it went ok. Absolutely exhausted this morning though!

Trying to work out how to get out of a visit to my inlaws next week, relations are very frosty at the moment and they've never taken well to us telling them of a pregnancy, there is no way I can hide the current nausea so I sort of have to not go (not to mention the 3 hour car journey which won't help the sickness) not sure what to say about why I'm not going that won't cause more offence!

littleredmouse · 14/12/2011 10:25

are you finding your side effects such as nausea and sore boobs vary from day to day? I feel slightly better today (which is worrying me) but i have an awful cold and wonder if the two are linked.

PoppySeed34 · 14/12/2011 11:04

oh no angel that's worse I think. I read the wee thing stops after 12 weeks, of hope that's true as I'm making three trips in the night!

deafworm I hope you manage to think of something, that's not what you need if you're not feeling the best :(

lrm my symptoms have been coming amd going, very weird. I don't feel to o bad at the moment (touch wood), I was worried a bit, but had early scan yesterday (due to spotting and slight pain) butd all isok so far so I think the symptoms are in the post. :)

ps; am writing this on my phone, which is being weird and not letting me correct mistakes, sorry x

glittershoes · 14/12/2011 11:33

Hello all, I have been a bit worried today as I have been having period type pains but so pleased to see that you have had them too PoppySeed!

As usual I am just wishing time away and wanting to be 12 weeks right now! My symptoms change a lot as well, I was feeling really sick yesterday but fine today. Boobs are definitely tender and have got more so in the past few days.

I have a cold as well Littleredmouse, trying to be calm about it and get through it without any pain killers etc..

How was the scan PoppySeed? Amazing?
