Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hi Moonloon,

welcome! I am one day behind you (6 weeks today) and have v similar symptoms, finding the nausea/huger thing so confusing and exhausting! I have been at home this week but I'm not sure how to cater for it at work next week, does anyone have any tips, what snacks could I always have on hand that I am going to feel like eating (so far I have been eating mostly apples and baked potatoes!)

I am also having crazy dreams that i remember really vividly, its quite fun waking up my unendingly patient DH to tell him, he is so thrilled about the pregnancy he is enthusiastic about everything!

Good luck for an uninterrupted nights sleep everyone, i only went to the bathroom twice last night, it was bliss!

TT

Angel786 · 09/12/2011 19:15

Welcome everyone new Grin

panicartost with dd I had so many x rays before I knew I was pg. I had the barium meal where you have x rays of your abdomen. Was q worried during the pregnancy but no need. She was born healthy. Try not to worry. Also the airport ones are low level, I went through them a few times when heavily pg.

Big hello to everyone, hoping I can join you. Tested when AF was late and got a BFN so assumed it was all over for this month, then was a bit shocked earlier this week when I tested again and saw a BFP (well 3 BFP's, had to test that many times to convince myself!). Think i am about 5-6 weeks pg so due first week of Aug.

Feeling excited, overwhelmed, very tired, still a little disbelieving and hard not to talk to anyone about it except DH who works late shifts so I only see him 1 or 2 nights in the week and we have DSS staying this weekend and we don't want to say anything to him yet.

Also finding the Xmas party season difficult, managed to get through big work do last night with just 1 spritzer but have sister's wedding next weekend which will be tough! Glad to have you ladies to share with and be able to talk to & hear from those going through similar feelings and symptons :-)

NathanDetroit · 09/12/2011 19:31

hello all,
Going GP next week to get forms although my manager/friend said they can see you if you book and do the form at the same time. I'll just do the form and book the appt at the same time.

Feeling a lot better today. I was really stressing last night about things going wrong but gave it some thought & talked it over with DH and it'll be ok. Just hope I can keep this positive frame of mind.

Must buy some more tests too. I was voting for my nephew on the bounty site before I knew & saw a talk topic of "how many tests did you do?" and remember thinking, why would you do more than one? - Now I know! I'd probably do three a day if I had enough money!!

So very glad there is this talkboard to discuss the day's thoughts with you all. I'm so glad I told the two people I did, but I've really looked forward to coming on here each night too. Seeing my parents at the weekend and it's going to be really hard not to tell! (Don't want to til about 14 wks for various reasons)

mrsmamma · 09/12/2011 21:07

Hi Nathan yeah I thought it was a bit psycho doing more than one test but now it's my new hobby! I told my mum after knowing a week I just couldn't hide it from her! Grin

SwanseaMum · 09/12/2011 22:46

Hi everyone
I told my mam the day i found out :-D

been to my works night out tonight. I couldn't really eat much and of course i had the car so didn't drink either, funny thing is the rest of them were so drunk it didn't twig lol when I do tell them after Christmas i am sure i will see the penny drop :)

panicartist · 09/12/2011 23:32

Angel, thank you so much for your post! Happy ending stories are much appreciated. I (mostly) know my worries are irrational, and I've just had a lovely chat with my best friend, who I've told super early, and I feel much better from our talk. My sister also told me that she didn't find out about her second pregnancy until about two months in, and had been drinking, not to excess but still drinking, until she found out, and her youngest little daughter is fine. Those little beans are pretty resilient!

Angel, I'm due the same week as you. August 6th, my doctor told me. Exciting.... those of us delivering the first part of August will be having dragons (Chinese zodiac) and lions (Western zodiac). Sounds like a formidable combination!

hungryveck · 10/12/2011 08:13

Hi All

Nice to see lots of people joining us!

So, my dilemma is i have organised a massive xmas party for TONIGHT for about 20 friends (not sure why back in August i started organising this knowing full well i could be pregnant!!). So obviously no one knows and we are all keen binge drinkers when we get together! think i am going to pretend i am drinking and DH is going to help me out, however, i am sure when the round of shots get bought and i dont partake people are either going to get suspicious or think i am being really miserable!

Oh well, get through this and next weeks work xmas doo and i should be home and dry!

Bring on Jan, i hate this waiting malarky.

Felt quite queasy last night, boobs are a little sore but not doing too bad on symptons!

So, cos its a leap year next year, does that mean we can all say we are due a day earlier than we are?!?!?!?

LOL

mrsmamma · 10/12/2011 08:55

Hungryveck yes I love that idea about leap yr! Think my dd is 27th July (joined aug thread as didn't wanna be last to do everything!) now it can be 26th!

My Xmas party is next sat like you me n all my mates are big drinkers so gonna be tough to hide! I also organised it and booked us all in a near hotel so we can take advantage of the 24hr bar!!!! Can't believe it now cos like u knew I was trying but didn't think it wud happen as we had been trying 4 months n with nothing happening in that 4 months I'd convinced myself I'd have fertility problems!!!! Stupid, I know!

Anyway I'm going to say I have a water infection and am on antibiotics! 1 of my friends knows and she is pregnant too however she is 8 months so I'll sit with her!

voscar · 10/12/2011 11:54

We got our BFP on Thursday morning after three months of trying. We were starting to reconcile ourselves to the fact that it might take a while.... :D

I've had all my normal period symptoms this month so we had both accepted it hadn't happened. I woke up the day AF due and said shall we just test to get it out of the way and know that it's done this month? Que the BFP!

OH has made me take 5 tests! Lol. Have told our parents but that's it for now. So excited!!!

glittershoes · 10/12/2011 12:53

Hi Voscar, congratulations!

I survived my work night out with no-one finding out, was quite an ordeal! I had one small spritzer which I continuously topped up with soda and when I was bought a vodka and orange juice I just kept bringing it up to my lips and then talking etc.. and ended up pouring half of it down the toilet!

I also managed to survive the round of shots; it was a ridiculous effort but I volunteered to get them at the bar and just ordered six sambucas and one shot of water in a shot glass. They all saw me do my 'sambuca' and all was well.

Still, we stick to the driving excuse next time!

Telling my Mum and her partner today (no way they would not notice me not drinking over Christmas, I love the champagne!). A bit nervous, I don't know why but I suppose with my mum I still feel like a 14 year old irresponsible teenager rather than the 27 year old married adult woman that I am!

NathanDetroit · 10/12/2011 14:55

Very impressed with all the "fake" drinking going on. Good skills.

Today I am full of RAGE and being very mean to my DH. He's dealing with it but I think it will get old very quickly. Also feeling tired which is good because the insomnia wasn't very fun.

Bought some more tests at the supermarket today and my DH got in a strop because they are so expensive...Will save them for the days I feel worried, I guess. I got the ones that tell you the weeks since conception though so really want to do one to find out. Tee hee!

Angel786 · 10/12/2011 19:45

Congratulations redbird and voscar

panic artist love that! Was thinking of a name that means lion for a boy which would be perfect after what you've said!

Well done glitrershoes love the water shot!

Symptoms... V tired and v hungry!

panicartist · 10/12/2011 20:50

Glad you like the horoscope of these future young'uns, Angel!

In earlier post, I meant I'm due the same week as you, Redbird, not Angel. My doc said she wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks since I'm in the "older" category, so I figure it could actually be late July.

Glittershoes, well done on the water shots - ingenious! When I went drinking with friends the other night, I ordered cranberry and tonic with lime, which I thought looked pretty alchoholic, like a vodka tonic. Nobody said anything, but it is not usual for me to get a mixed drink, so perhaps some suspicions were raised!

Congratulations, voscar!

mrsmamma · 10/12/2011 23:27

Glittershoes that's genius!! I think it must have been hard work tho all the pretence! I'm gonna tell my friends about my 'horrendous water infection' say thurs and then they won't be suspicious come sat when I say I'm on antibiotics!! Saw them all tonight at one of my friends house n they were asking me to play squash this week! Told a stupid lie about a bad back I think it was so obvious, I was mumbling through my lie so badly! Then they wanted to organise tobogganing for 2 days after Xmas!!!! God knows how I'll get out of that! I may get away with it sat but new years eve I won't!!! I hate lying but don't want it out until 12 weeks!!

voscar · 11/12/2011 08:15

Thanks for the well wishes! We are supposed to be going ice skating with all the family on Xmas eve. Do you think that's a bad idea? My mum reckons it is - in case I fall over? What would you girls do?

mrsmamma · 11/12/2011 08:53

Depends how busy the ice rink is!
Every time ive been it's been packed n people are always crashing into you! it's hard to know what to do for the best! I'm the same about squash but the dr did tell me not to play as even.tho it's meant to be non contact it isn't . I decided not to play purely for how I'd feel if I did get Hurt x

SwanseaMum · 11/12/2011 09:26

I wanna go ice skating but dh won't let me :
I was told that as long as your body is use to that level of exercise before pregnancy there shouldn't be a problem :) not with something like squash anyway

littleredmouse · 11/12/2011 09:38

Hi, i've been lurking for nearly a week. Found out i was pregnant a week ago and am due 12th-14th August. I charted so am pretty certain of ovulation date . I'm 43 and it was only our second month of trying. I probably won't post much yet as although i'm trying to be positive I can't yet think too much about the outcome. Like everyone am waiting to get through each stage at a time, I considering an early scan. So far only my partner and the nurse who gave me my flu jab knows. It was lovely to hear someone say congratulations.

glittershoes · 11/12/2011 12:53

It is so lovely to hear a congratulations isn't it littleredmouse? So another big one from me!

I am also really nervous - I keep trying to be really positive but it is so scary, every little feeling or ache or pain and I am running to the loo to check I am not bleeding. January and the scan seem so very far away!

mrsmamma · 11/12/2011 13:40

I'm the same Littleredmouse very nervous about the next 5 weeks (I'm 7 weeks) my book tho is telling me to be positive it says positive people tend to do better so I'm trying really hard! I took my niece toys r us yesterday n had a sneak in the baby section, I was asked if I wanted to join their baby club but refused as not quite feeling that positive!

Oh that's strange my doctor said running, cycling and cross training was ok but she wouldn't recommend squash the Nhs website says the same thing too! I have a1yr old border terrier who is getting lots of extra walks so he is happy

Dru77 · 11/12/2011 13:59

I got a BFP on Thurs which makes me due on 19/20 Aug. I've been having ice skating lessons for a few months and have just signed up for the next term but will stop after that. I also run a lot and went out for my first run today since finding out which was a pretty big deal for me as I was quite nervous. It was fine though and I intend to keep running as long as I can.

I had FET and my official test date isn't until the 15th Dec so I can't even call my clinic yet.

Redbird12 · 11/12/2011 14:07

Congrats all on your BFP's, glad to hear there are so many others due around the same time and going through the same dilemmas now - got 1 Xmas party out the way but have my sister's wedding next weekend to contend with. Groom's sister has recently announced she is pg to the family, my sister has complained she is 'stealing her thunder' so I am keeping quiet until Xmas!
Don't think I can wait for the full 3 months to tell family (nor get through Xmas day without drinking & raising suspicion) so thought it would be a nice Xmas surprise to tell them on the day, will be 1st GC for my mum. Just need no mentions on FB otherwise work people will also find out!

When is everyone else planning to share their news?

PoppySeed34 · 11/12/2011 14:50

Congrats littleredbird, voscar and redbird :) great news..

well done glittershoes - good move! my first xmas party is on Friday night, have decided to go for food and say i'm driving somewhere, that's not unusual for me as I'm usually the driver.

Dru77 congrats, too - glad to hear you went running, i'm keen to start running again, but have been sidelined recently with a slight injury, came at the right time really... still nervous though, have no idea why though.. :)

redbird - i think we may mention it to parents over xmas, but apart from that I think we'll keep quiet. it's not been the smoothest few weeks, so fingers crossed things will settle down a bit.

MoonLoon · 11/12/2011 14:53

Hey tubtoes, at the moment dry toast (with just the teeniest bit of jam), and ginger ale is helping my nausea... just having a tiny bit, but often really seems to work as well. Its definitely more difficult to deal with than I was expecting!
