Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hang in there Vino - time goes so slowly at this stage...

crazyforbaby · 08/12/2011 15:47

Sorry - me again. Anais I may buy an early PT...but then I won't be able to meet my friend in Starbucks. What to do...Confused

glittershoes · 08/12/2011 15:52

Congratulations Vinolover!

I think pretending to drink may be the way forward - I thought about the driving but unfortunately the venue is around a 10 minute walk from my house!

Angel786 · 08/12/2011 15:58

Wow tub toes that's pretty impressive! I've found some private clinics that will do scans from six weeks so might get one done, am just so impatient!

well, it is compulsory for me to pay 300 eur a month for public healthcare (no difference to nhs) here, so at least there's one area i can get my moneys worth, as well as a compulsory year ML at 67% salary. Like I said I'm usually complaining, but with motherhood the Germans are quite good...

i think with the no drinking story just sip on a wine glass without really drinking, or drink soda water and pretend youre having GandTs?

TT

Hello! I'm due July 29th according to Mumsnet calendar - but was 1 week late last time so assuming will actually be an August baby!

Congrats to everyone - its so nice being able to talk about it - we haven't told anyone yet and its SO hard!! Am also feeling like I may have imagined the three BFP's - should take out shares in Clearblue!! Looking forward to the scan....
Already have a 14 month old dd, so will also have 2 under 2 - for a month or so at least! Any tips on how to manage .........

Angel786 · 08/12/2011 19:36

67% is v good tub toes! Do you have to return to work after to keep the mat pay? I did the fake sipping wine but g&t plan sounds like a good one too.

Welcome mellousol there are a few of us who'll be doing the two under two thing at the same time. No tips I'm afraid but at least we'll be able to share horror stories experiences [ grin]

Ive thought about a private scab but dh thinks its a ridiculous idea!

mrsmamma · 08/12/2011 20:05

scan not scab ha ha

glittershoes · 08/12/2011 20:40

Fake G&Ts it is! My DH is the same, he is also acting as if everything is normal - it isn't! I have a teeny tiny baby inside me!

At least I got some attention from the woman in Smiths; I bought a pregnancy magazine (couldn't resist) and she quietly asked if it was for me, I nodded and she leaned over the counter and hugged me! Was v bizarre although very sweet.

hungryveck · 08/12/2011 20:52

Twickers - so sorry to hear your news, but wasnt meant to be this time (such a cliche but true).... Having been in your position before, i know how you must be feeling. BUT try and have a lovely Xmas, drink plenty and in the new year, you can re-focus! i thoroughly recommend the Clear Blue digital ovulation predictor. after my MC we started trying again and nothing happended for 6 months, then i bought the gadget and fell straight away, for me, it took all the worrying about 'are we doing it at the right time' pressure away.... This time round, we used the gadget again and took 2 months.... I also leant it to a couple of people at work in between and they swear by it too! Doesnt work for some people, but as i am such a control freak, it worked for me!!!!

PoppySeed34 · 08/12/2011 20:57

Ahhh glittershoes that's lovely Xmas Grin

NathanDetroit · 08/12/2011 21:13

Hello again.
Today I told two close friends and colleagues. They were really happy and kind.

Been feeling a bit sick on and off but the symptoms have been quite low today. :-/ so it's all a bit up and down. Also tried to register with the GP but have to go in to get forms and show them I really live where I say I live and all that so that's going to be another week before I can get there. They don't make it easy. :-(

Anyway, another day is nearly done! Time is going soooo slowly, just want to get to 12 weeks so bad!

tubtoes · 08/12/2011 21:42

I know what you mean about time crawling, ah well, at least january will (fingers crossed) be a very exciting and celebratory time here on this thread!

panicartist · 08/12/2011 21:49

Hi everybody, can I join this group? Everybody seems so lovely!

Due August 7, found out last weekend, just after returning from a trip to Hawaii. I got a negative test before leaving for home, so I went through the airport body scanner machine in Los Angeles during the connecting flight, and now am beside myself about damage I might have done, despite the government's assurance that it is perfectly safe and radiation very low. But Google searching only freaks me out more!

Anybody have any strategies to allay anxieties during this time? I want to just be able to have fun with this, not be worried all the time.

Twickers, so sorry about your news. I know how you are feeling, I've been there.

Westcountrywife · 08/12/2011 22:20

Panicartist (nice name), firstly welcome and congratulations! Secondly don't worry! I'm flying to Edinburgh tomorrow and my doctor has assured me that there is nothing that can harm the baby. Except now I'm a bit more worried about the wind (eek)...! Leave google alone! Ask your doctor if you are really worried. I had a list for him and I finished feeling calm but a little shamed by my silly worries.

Update on symptoms: very sore boobs, DH is upset by ban on handling (sorry for too much info) but loves being asked if they are getting bigger. No changes so far. Haven't been sick but feel green a lot and have lost my appetite completely. I told DH that this is great as may lose some pounds and he laughed and pointed out that I'll be putting on loads more. Tactful.

panicartist · 09/12/2011 00:07

Thanks Westcountrywife! I did ask my doctor about the airport body scanners and she said "oh, forget about it!" but I'm not really sure if she knew what I was talking about, maybe thought I meant the metal detectors.

I have extremely sore boobs too. Sleeping in a sports bra and squishing up against things as little as possible.

mrsmamma · 09/12/2011 08:55

Hi all my boobs are throbbing today there is no other word for it!!!!

I have never been so excited about January before I usually hate the month Grin

glittershoes · 09/12/2011 10:17

Welcome Panticartist!

Still no sore boobs here! Bit of queasiness and a definitely a heightened sense of smell, I can smeall EVERYTHING!

Got a tad upset last night as all the tests I have done have now gone blank (as the instructions said they would after 24 hours). I decided that that was a VERY BAD omen and therefore did another one this morning and was pleased for it to come up as positive again! This could cost me a fortune if I keep it up....

PoppySeed34 · 09/12/2011 12:01

hello panicartist :) can't suggest anything about not worrying, it seems to be part of the experience.. :o hope your flight goes ok though..

NathanDetroit my symptoms have been coming and going, too. Did you get all your forms sorted? hope they don't make you wait too long to see GP.

No sore boobs today, infact not many symptoms at all today. (not sure if that's good or not!!) Anyway, Drs is sending me for early scan though due to spotting..

fingers crosseed all is ok! Thanks

PoppySeed34 · 09/12/2011 12:03

glittershoes did you use the Clearblue ones with the ovulation prediction thingymagig? I think you're right, they do say the battery only lasts for 24hrs, so don't worry Xmas Smile x x

Caddie08 · 09/12/2011 13:06

Hello! Can I join this thread? I'm due on August 4th. I have a little boy of 14 months already so am looking forward to the chaos another baby will bring. So far I've felt quite sick and tired and have gone right off chocolate and tea! I already have a craving for cheese - I will be the size of a house at this rate :-)

dness · 09/12/2011 13:19

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well
First time using mumsnet.

Hope it is ok to join this group? I found out last week that I was pregnant after trying for a few months. This will be my second child, my son is 2 on Hogmanay. I think I am due on 8th August going by the due date calculator.

All in all feeling great , no sickiness, tiredness, PMT etc is this normal? I wasnt sick with my son but felt yuck for the first 6 weeks. I'm excited about having another child but at the same time worried about having 2 kids!!! Xmas Smile

MoonLoon · 09/12/2011 13:55

Hi all! First-time Mums-netter as have just found out I'm pregnant with my first. :)
Am just over 6 wks now, (due August 2nd, 2012).
Symptoms are quite strong, and include: nausea/constant hunger, hot/cold flashes, thirst!, crazy dreams and restless sleep even though I'm really tired!
Its all a bit strange but I also find it reassuring as its a constant signal that the pregnancy is there. Can't wait for the 12-week scan!
All the best to everyone.

mrsmamma · 09/12/2011 14:03

Glittershoes I felt the same it was horrible to see it disappear I'm going to buy a test tonight not done one all week Grin

I've been having some strange pains today but are higher up than where I suspect baby would be! A bit concerned though!

I bought the book 'what to expect when ur expecting' and so far it's a good read
