Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

I'm watching Restoration Man and bawling. Hormones, they've a lot to answer for.

PoppyS34 · 05/01/2012 22:01

Dorita75 I cycle, but had a break over Xmas, was gonna start again on Tuesday, but it was a bit to windy = looking forward to getting back on it again :)

PoppyS34 · 05/01/2012 22:01

PictureThis - I;m blaming everything I can on the hormones!

Dorita75 · 05/01/2012 22:15

Me too - hormones making me fartier than usual! My boyf would say there's no change but I'm definately windier BECAUSE OF THE HORMONES!

NathanDetroit · 05/01/2012 22:37

I'm blaming everything on hormones then sticking the book under DH's nose going "SEE! I'm not making it up!"

Pretty bad day today, felt like I was getting a UTI, although I've never had one, so don't know what it's like! Just needed the loo ALL day and felt a bit sore. So drank a litre of cranberry juice tonight and feeling better. Finding it hard to be at work when every twinge and ache sends me into a panic!

Group pre-booking tomorrow so will let you know how that goes.

ballinnderrymum the one time we had sex I bled and then bled everyday after for a week so...no more sex til I've had a scan (poor DH!)

mrsmamma · 06/01/2012 08:56

I'm very hormonal watched the eastenders last night where pat died and sobbed uncontrollably! I don't ever watch eastenders either! Then I just drove past my local swimming baths and thought about taking my baby swimming and that made me cry too so now I've got to go into work all puffy eyed!

Choedron · 06/01/2012 09:13

Hello, Can I join in?

I tested positive a couple of days and couldn't believe, we have been trying for nearly a year and this is my first, so excited!

My actual due date is early September. Symptoms at the moment are sore boobs, very tired, feel like crying at writing my first post! Has anyone seen a GP yet? Congratulations to all! x

technoduck · 06/01/2012 09:21

Thanks needlescuties thats really kind of you. mrsmamma ive never cried so much when pat died in eastenders, and i cried reading my pregnancy book last night.
Hows everyone feeling today?

JParkson · 06/01/2012 09:27

Morning all, just checking in before going to Slimming World - let's see what damage I've done this week...

I lost a pound last week as I was so sick over Christmas, but this week I've been feeling a tad better and unfortunately making up for it! Oh well.

Hormones are definitely playing up, as I flipped out over something trivial last night, and DH was rather surprised...!

Gnomi thankfully the chemist gave me an nhs receipt and told me to get mw to backdate the certificate, so I'll badger her when I see her next week. If it's the same mw I had with DD's pg then I should be ok. Our surgery has 2 mws, and t'other one drives me up the wall! She reminds me of the old matrons - everything has to be just so, and you have to do this this way, and that that way, and no dear even though you have planned for a homebirth you must prepare to go into hospital. But if you do have your home birth, I'd love to attend you! Hmm Not bloody likely! (DD was a beautiful HB, and she was nowhere in sight - yay!)

Has anyone had cravings yet? I remember about this stage with DD, and I was craving salt...! I ended up making up mugs of bovril, and mugs of stock-cubes dissolved in hot water and drinking them straight! Shock Only lasted a week though, and she's perfectly fine for it.

ballinderrymum · 06/01/2012 09:30

thanks nathan i have decided the same no more until the scan - whenever that will be.

i phoned the hospital today to check they had received my referral and they only got it yesterday (from 20/12) and i have to get my booking in appt. i just really want to see my wee bean.

glittershoes · 06/01/2012 09:34

Hello all and welcome Choedron!

So glad that it is the weekend tomorrow! I'm not having cravings as such but my aversions to food are growing. Just the idea of anything pastry or greasy or creamy makes me feel off.

And I think I am losing it slightly. I am very reluctant to take down our Christmas decorations as we found out I was pregnant on the day we put them up; somehow it seems a bad omen to take them down as they have had the same life span of the baby and now I am ending that.

God, I am totally insane aren't I?

PoppyS34 · 06/01/2012 09:51

glitter, you're not insane! :D I can see where you're coming from though.

My nails always break, and before I found out I was pg I realised how lovely they were and how long they'd got - then I got my BFP and they kept growing.

I read that it's the hormones which makes them so nice - so I compeltely freaked out the first time one of them broke as I though that was a bad sign.. Hmm it wasn't of course, it was just that I'm not use to long nails and was carrying a box Blush

Welcome Choedron :)

NathanDetroit - that's what I keep doing :o pointing to my book

No weird cravings as such yet, but I'm still eating carbs for England and seem to also want salty/vinegary stuff. I try and make dinner every night, but it's not often I actually eat it by the time I've finished.

I've also gone of meat a bit, except stuff like bacon, ham, sausages and burgers. Not what you'd normally find in my diet.

NeedlesCuties · 06/01/2012 10:04

Hi!

just a little hint to any newcomers or returners that I'd like them to tell me their stats so I can add them to the biiiig looong list of August 2012 mums-to-be.

If you scroll up a bit you can't fail to see the big list. But for ease I'll give you mine as an example.

NeedlesCuties (27) DC2 due 24/8/12

Thanks

blackcatsdancing · 06/01/2012 10:19

Hi choedron congratulations, you're very welcome to join us but there is also a september thread in pregnancy and i think one in antenatal section, so up to you where you'd prefer to be!

Hi all, my symptoms have eased off the past 2 days, less nausea , bit less tired , so much so i was up til midnight last night and ate rather a lot in the evening to make up for past week. Bad move as i then found it hard to sleep- too much cheese urgh. Not actually worried about this, symptoms come and go and i reckon as before they will ramp up again soon and i'll be back to bed after dinner (as i was this tuesday!). so enjoying this respite for now.

voscar · 06/01/2012 10:26

How's everyone getting on with the wierd dreams? Probably not helped by my stinking cold but I've had some belters! Some rally horrible ones about having cancer, labour, etc.

Eek!!!

Lovemarmite · 06/01/2012 10:33

OBEM - saw a trailer for it and DH flatly refused to watch that... he's more squeamish than me! Hmm he's trying to come round to the idea but I guess it feels real for me but he just sees me being moody, teary and well, constantly hormonal and so I guess a scan will make it more real for him.

Blackcatsdancing me too, am going for an elective c-section too, would rather a natural birth but doctor has agreed that it might be best for me too...

Not heard from the MW yet and I'm 7+2 weeks... will call surgery today!

Lovemarmite · 06/01/2012 10:48

Sorry my refresh didn't see all the messages posted and so my chat was from ages ago!

glittershoes I know what you mean about the christmas decs but I've just taken ours down and well, it felt almost refreshing and like it's a new chapter, a good clean later if I can face the vacuum cleaner and may pick up some tulips later to brighten up after the decs are down...

I am glad to say that my insomnia has stopped and my dreams are okay at the moment but I've had some crazy ones, but then again my dreams are mad normally!
I am very warm in bed and don't like getting up to a cold house and the sickies... I think I feel happier tucked up in bed and away with the fairies!!!

blackcatsdancing · 06/01/2012 11:18

lovemarmite ok that's good to know, though sorry as sounds its not the birth you'd prefer. I thought i'd be alone in this - on this thread anyway.
Also like the idea of some tulips. i may get something similar too! gorgeous sunny day here at last so out for some fresh air in a sec.
insomnia not a problem here (except when stuffed with bread and cheese- never again...) and dreams have stopped for now but i did have some really vivid ones which i never normally do.

ballinderrymum · 06/01/2012 12:05

voscar i fell asleep on the sofa while watching Earth flight last night and kindof woke up thinking my small dog, who was lovingly snuggling up to me, was a vulture waiting to eat me and i shouted at her! i would often sleep talk and partially remember the conversations. i am typing through the tears of laughter, my poor dog - at least DH is used to my weirdness! the dreams have been weirder since getting pregnant (if thats possible)

miaboo · 06/01/2012 12:10

I felt so sick from about 4pm yesterday that it kept me up most of last night, then this morning I felt so rough I was unable to take my little boy to school and his dad had to come out of work and take him :( . I feel so guilty and moody as things are getting on top of me cause I feel so crap!

Stinkyminkymoo · 06/01/2012 12:29

I've been stupidly tired! Dreams have also been a bit weird! I'm hoping things will settle down soon, I have a dr appt on the 11th and only about 3 weeks until I can get a scan Grin

Lovemarmite · 06/01/2012 13:45

miaboo I am having bad and 'a bit better' days and so I hope your's will get a bit better. My last bad day was two days ago and all I could do was look pale, feel sick on the sofa and it lasted all day and a bit into the next. On a bad day I literally can't do anything much and feel frustrated!

Not sure if it helps, but carbs seem to help me a little - I am a bit of a nutrition nerd as doing my last year in a nutritional therapy degree but brown rice (risotto) rice seems to perk me up a little with a bit of cheese and lots of peas. Yummy brown bread also seems to help - I think I feel really sick when I'm hungry. I've also read that the baby is taking glucose from our system and so long energy release foods are good to keep the energy up too. I can't advise on stuff as not qualified and also this is my first and so it's all new to me but this is what I've found so far.

Angel786 · 06/01/2012 13:49

Welcome everyone new and all are welcome whenever your due date - even tho my dd is 2 august I suspect Bryo will come out mid July if all goes according to plan...

Sorry for those with morning sickness. My ms comes and goes - much worse when tired / not eaten. Also agree re the glucose as I have craved sugary stuff like a can of coke at 9am!?!

Am getting sooooo impatient. A week and a half til the 12 week scan but already fast forwarding through the weeks on bbc pregnancy calendar as just can't wait!
