Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hi all, not posted for a while as still getting my head around being pregnant. Other half also still feeling very anxious - is anyone else's partner's finding it hard to adjust to the idea of becoming a dad (it's our first and a couple of years earlier than we were expecting...)

Anyway would love to join 'the list' so here's my stats:
Gingerelle (30 in 2 weeks) DCI due 20/08/2012.

firstfroggy · 06/01/2012 16:10

hi gingerelle, i totally feel your pain. my partner isn't just anxious he has basically abandoned me - the worst part is that we planned this baby together.
after the initial shock and telling me to abort it, he said he would stand by me, and even volunteered to come to mw appt with me yday, but i got a text the night before saying that he 'really didn't need to be there.' so i've ended up posting his questions from her to him. it's heartbreaking, but i'm trying to concentrate on the fact i have a baby growing inside me. i'm 7 weeks today.

i was curious about how the mw appt would go, but they were very thorough and i did feel supported which is most important right now. my fear, like many of us, is that it's all still alright in there, but she said my symptoms (super sore boobs, nausea, exhaustion) are a good sign. i was worried what effect stress was having on my body, but she said babies are very resilient, so put my mind at rest.

Hello hello, happy New Year. Not posted in ages as have been away, plus no internet for a while, but have tried to follow you all. Hope everyone's ok today and looking forward to the first weekend of 2012.

If I may bore you all again, I had IVF end Nov and had 2 embryos put back in. After some really odd and grim clotting (so sorry if TMI) on Christmas Day and a bit later too, we rushed off for a very early scan on 28th, where we saw two heartbeats, which was amazing. When I went for my official scan at IVF clinic yesterday, they sadly told me one hadn't grown any further, so a sad, emotional day, as sad for the one that didn't make it, and also for the little sibling. Odd conflict of emotions. But I'm feeling happier today and am thrilled that there's one little bean growing away inside me. I did have some MS for a week, then it went away. But it's back today a bit, so feeling tired, emotional and bit sick. My boobs have also become huge, which is uncomfortable, but am sporting a new bra several sizes bigger that feels much better (and with nifty clips, no less!). I have my first midwife appointment next week which I'm looking forward to, as am bit paranoid now. Please may I also be added to the list? My stats are 7+3, due around 24th Aug (and baby was 1.5cm long yesterday!). Amazing to see!

Sorry if this is a bit long and sel-indulgent, but I've not posted because wanted to see how things were going for a while.

Happy Friday all Smile.

Purplelooby · 06/01/2012 17:16

Congratulations and welcome Choedron!

Symptom wise, every day seems to be getting that bit worse - I spent most of the time feeling nauseous and quite dizzy. Wierdly as well, I 100 % definitely have a bump and I'm only 6+2 (I hope!) so I'm now petrified it's triplets or something. It's not even just a lower-abdomen bump - it's all the way up to my boobs even though I'm not eating much Confused. I think it's because I'm small - only 4'10andahalf''. I'm going to look like a space hopper by 6 months...

OBEM - I watched it for the first time and made DH watch it too - he enjoyed it more than he expected and I totally loved it, although I sobbed from the moment it started. Hormones...

Definitely no craving, just collecting aversions: tea, chocolate, anything sweet, cheese (this is NOT like me), anything that smells... in fact it's pretty much bread. Why can't you buy proper brown bread anymore, only stupid wholemeal? I want daaaaaaaaaaaaaark squidgy malty BROWN BREAD!

Purplelooby · 06/01/2012 17:24

Sorry I missed a page of posts somehow Blush so also congratulations mrsmiggins but also I'm sorry about your twin xx

firstfroggy I'm really sad for you - all I can say is that my cousin really didn't want his baby but when they found out it was a girl he suddenly got excited, perhaps because it became 'real' to him.

Lovemarmite · 06/01/2012 17:25

MrsMiggins - great news for you and your little bean - how exciting! Not self indulgent at all - it's a really special time!

gingerelle and firstfroggy I feel your pain too, my DH got told off last night by me as I got stroppy that I didn't like his jokes about 'it might go away'... hmm, not funny! Neither of us have ever coo'd over babies but thought it would be a shame if we didn't have one or two, but as it's now happening, he seemed to have freaked out about it and we didn't talk for a day or so which has never happened before. I think he's believing it more but I've been told by one of my friends that her DH freaked out until the first scan and then he seemed to calm down and get happier about it all.
I think the symptoms is putting him off me and talking about it - moody, stroppy, teary and sick - cricky I wouldn't want to be around me! :)

Having a few aches and pains at the moment but hoping it's just because it's stretching down there...

yeah to Friday!

blackcatsdancing · 06/01/2012 17:35

Hi *mrsmiggins", sorry about the twin but very good news about the remaining embryo. Mine measured 1.14cm at 7+2 so smaller than yours! obviously must be some variation in growth then. FWIW someone i know have IVF conceived twins and they were born very, very premature. It really was touch and go for a long time and they were in hospital for over 10 weeks. They seem to be doing well now but i don't know her well enough to ask if either have any developmental problems. Twins are an increased risk pregnancy so I guess just try to stay positive on the fact that you are more likely to have a safer pregnancy for you and the little one.

blackcatsdancing · 06/01/2012 17:36

opps sorry didn't bold carefully enough mrsmiggins, message for you above

Sparklesandglitter · 06/01/2012 18:15

NathanDetroit · 06/01/2012 19:55

hi all, welcome new people and love to those having tough times. :(

Well, had the "group" booking session. There was me and another pregnant woman, her partner and her friend/taxi so not quite a group! The midwife support worker just talked us through stuff like home birth, smoking and breastfeeding. It was good to visit the health centre and meet the support worker as that's the first time I've been there. Not sure I got a lot out of it (smoking is bad, breastfeeding is good, take folic acid) but I did find out that headaches are caused by dehydration as the baby takes a lot of water. Good to know as I've had a horrible headache for two days but can't shift it. glug glug glug...

Been feeling really shite for the last few days, work has been a bit stressful which is taking it out of me. I'm never ill, or if I am a good night's sleep resolves it. Not getting good sleep and feeling like I've forgotten what "well" is like. So, can't wait for the scan to confirm it's all worth it!!

Lovemarmite · 06/01/2012 20:25

Hi NathanDetroit your group session sounds like it made it feel real... cool!

Agree with dehydration as my doctor told me that we have 50% more fluids circulating around us and so to drink lots. I had headaches and my pee was dark (TMI sorry!) but couldn't down cold water and so have resorted to sipping hot/warm water all day and then glugging ribena instead of a glass of wine at the end of the working day!

I just wish my sickies would stop - it seems to last all day now... worse in morning and then after a few sweets in the afternoon it abates and then starts again just before I try and eat dinner... a friend advised me to enjoy pregnancy but so far, this is far from fun! Sorry don't mean to moan!... off for another ribena then x

NathanDetroit · 06/01/2012 20:55

lovemarmite - yes it did make it feel real! The other woman was 10 weeks and had already had FIVE scans. Can you believe it?! Not sure I'd want all the scares she must've had though. I was really happy and excited after but then went to the pet shop before home and developed yet another splitting headache so feeling quite fed up (and in pain!). I'm feeling very moany indeed today but am trying to keep in my feelings as I know I am very lucky and am really excited. Just wish I could eat and sleep properly again. When green beans make you feel sick, it's all a bit sad-making!

mrsmamma · 06/01/2012 21:52

My stomach seems to have popped out loads today it feels HUGE! It's not food as I'm not eating much! I'm drinking more water and def feel better for it! Surely it's not showing yet my baby app says it's the size of a fig! Smile

Still no scan grrrr Angry

Angel786 · 06/01/2012 22:38

mrsmama hope the scan gets noosed soon, have you chased them? Also my tummy is MUCH bigger after dinner!

Nathan totally with you on lack of sleep and feeling unwell, hope work eases up soon.

mrsmiggins really sorry to hear about one of your babies, hoping the pregnancy goes well here on.

dorita wait till you learn strikethrough Wink

Hospital appointment tomorrow, think it's just the booking in so fingers crossed...

Hi. I joined you all a while back. I just want to say to anyone who gets any bleeding to try and relax but get medical advice asap. Thursday I bled in shower at dd swimming lesson. I was very scared. It stopped but Yday bled most of the day. Had dr appointment and sent to early scanning unit. Too early to see (nearly 7wks) so internal scan. I am sure that I have m/c but they said there is a tiny shadow that could still be a baby growing. Ihave to return Sunday for more blood tests to see if hormone levels are rising. The sister at hospital said bleeding (even like a period) is very common and can be ok. I don't want to scare you but if someone else bleeds it may re-assure them. Its my 2nd child and I never bled in my first pregnancy so I had no idea. Its lovely to hear your stories. I'll let you know Sunday if I'm still in the gang. I'm praying that I am x

Angel786 · 07/01/2012 09:45

Good luck bluebizz hoping all is well, not long to find out xxx.

everyone if anyone fancies a 3d /4d scan ( I got one with dd when she was 20 weeks and it was a.mazing! Could see her little fingers and toes, face etc.) there's an offer on for £99 at harley st, you get some photos and a DVD of baby. If you can't find it pm me and I'll send you a link. Not sure if you want me to send you an invite you may receive a credit, if so pm me? I've already booked one, hopping all goes well as I can't wait for 20 weeks to see bryo properly!

Hi.

blueblizz fingers crossed for you x.

I am about 6/7 weeks due at the end of August I think. I went to see the doctor yesterday and she really wasn't bothered. Just asked me if I was feeling ok - I mentioned mild cramps and tiredness. She asked if I was taking folic acid (which I am). Then she told be to go to reception and get the midwife's phone number and book an appointment with them.

So my midwife appointment is in two weeks and is a "group" appointment.

I'm concerned that the doctor never took my blood pressure or asked me any basic questions re family health. Also the midwife never asked for any of this information.

In my suprise and how the doctor and midwife weren't overly concerned I forgot to tell them about family diabetes. So I'm not sure if this is something to be worried about in early pregnancy or not.

I also won't be seen by anyone until I'm 9 weeks. Is this normal? This is my first pregnancy and I don't know if I have been treated properly.

Thanks x
