Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Such a fab list! There are so many of us!

I have just told my friend - she was lovely if a bit confused. She seemed to think that, if the baby is due on 17th then it will come on the 17th and not before so, in theory, she could get married on the 11th and I would be there with no issue! I explained that due dates were pretty much never accurate and she finally got it and, as you all suggested, was so great and has said that she wants me there and come up with another date. Hooray!

My trousers etc aren't tighter but I do feel bigger Confused

Geekette - I am sure everything is fine, it is good that they are getting you in to check. Let us know how it goes. Hope everyone who is suffering with ms feels better; my nausea has pretty much gone which relieves and alarms me in equal measure!

estya · 03/01/2012 20:42

hello - can I join.
I'm Estya (35) DC2 due 27th Aug.

I can recommend a belt extender and bump band when your trousers start to get tight. You can get them at lots of different places. You'd normally wear a longer top than the one in the picture so it just looks like you have layers on.
Much more comfortable that falling down maternity trousers.

Westcountrywife · 03/01/2012 20:50

Tubtoes, yeay we are due date buddies! It feels like such a long time away!

Nathandetroit, thanks for the food thoughts. Looked like it worked as I've just cooked a meal and was able to actually eat it. Up to now I've not been able to eat anything I've cooked due to smell overload and have had to eat only the contents of DH's repertoire... Pizza, beans on toast etc...

I'm going to look at those bands, still early but worth being prepared...

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 20:53

hi estya welcome & congrats!
thanks for the recommendation - can I ask, does the bump band button into your trousers/skirt or just sit over/under it?

Yay for dinner westcountrywife. I think me not cooking it, and not smelling it at all before eating it helped a lot (usually can't stand the smell of chicken frying). Just glad that I'll be able to sleep tonight - hunger pangs been keeping me awake the last few nights. :(

estya · 03/01/2012 20:59

Hi NathanD No, it just sits over your tummy and covers the fact that you can't do your flies up properly (at least as the bump gets bigger).

technoduck · 03/01/2012 21:01

Hello, mind if i join.
technoduck (27) dc1 due 18th aug.
Hope everyone is feeling ok this evening? NathanDetroit my dh is worried that I'm not eating enough aswell. Think hes getting sypmpathy sickness, he's on the sofa under a blanket! sending lots of happy non sickie thoughts. Grin

Purplelooby · 03/01/2012 21:29

Hooray for Needles! I'll fill in my stats:

Purplelooby (31) DC1 due 31/08/12

Well back to work was an epic fail - I couldn't sleep last night and the afternoon was a write-off. Luckily I had a free straight after lunch so I put my head on the desk. Also, today is the first day that I had felt properly, properly sick (Nathan we seemed to have swapped), but in good news: I have booked a private scan for 14th Jan which is my mother's birthday so I hope it's good news! And not triplets...

Regarding tight clothes, I am only 5+6 and I have already had to buy a bigger pair of work trousers (soooooo comfy) and 2 new bras because my boobs have mushroomed. Eugh that sounds like I have some kind of nipple infection - I mean that they have grown!

Angel786 · 03/01/2012 22:37

Welcome and congrats newbies Grin

I strongly support estya bump bands are awesome, I just bought a pack of two from ebay last time, you can get them in mamas and papas etc too. They save a fortune on maternity trousers!

Morning everyone, hope you all managed nice dinners last night :) I've been trying to eat as much during the day as poss, as by the time the afternoon comes nausea takes over and it's a struggle to eat dinner as don't fancy much at all..

Anyway, another silly question from me :o I've signed up for a daily email (and have an app on my phone as well), and they keep telling me my clothes should be tighter and I should need a new bra by now... but I don't (not yet, anyway)..

I've only put on 2lbs over the last 9 weeks and I measured my boobs last night and they're still the same size (ie v small). Should I be worried? How much weight should I be expecting to put on? I know it's early, and doesn't help my MW appt not until next week, so can't ask all these random questions (except here, to you lovely bunch).

Has anyone else just stayed the same? I'm not complaining, but just wondered if I should be trying to eat more, or something? Confused

NeedlesCuties · 04/01/2012 10:06

Poppy my sickness is worse in the morning and afternoon until about dinner time when I'm v hungry. Seems you and I have ours the opposite way around :)

As for your daily email and concern about weight I have this to say: the email is from a textbook and because you are a unique woman you might not fit into everything the email says at every stage of the pregnancy journey.

You will need a new bra nearer to the 20 week mark, or at least I did when I was pregnant with DS. Overall last pregnancy I went from a 34DD to a 38E. I'm now back to a 34C after breastfeeding for almost a year but fully expect to go back up a few sizes during this pregnancy.

Everyone puts on different amounts of weight - don't forget that by the end around 8lb of it is baby and there is also a load of blood, fluid etc so even though the scales might be very different to pre-pregnancy it might not be that you're fat, IYSWIM.

Some people do pile on fat during pregnancy, some have huge bumps but are pretty much the same as before (that's what I was like) and others just stay tiny and have tiny bumps.

The midwife will weigh you during your appointments and she will tell you if she thinks you're too light or too heavy. My advice is don't weigh yourself, let pregnancy be a time when you let you body relax from those worries.

HTH!

PoppyS34 · 04/01/2012 10:27

ahhh, thanks Needles that does help. Thanks x

JParkson · 04/01/2012 12:20

morning, er, afternoon, ladies :)

Been to the docs today, and now have thrush, a handbag stuffed with drugs, and a grumpy DH as I haven't got my exemption certificate yet. Yay(!)

Now, after itching my way chasing DD round Morrisons, I'm sat down with a chicken pie I don't fancy. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

On a brighter note, I'm not feeling half as queasy today, so maybe these wrist/seasickness bands are doing their job finally

ballinderrymum · 04/01/2012 13:35

aww just saw my name on the list - i feel all emotional now, seeing it written - i have only told DH, inlaws and my parents so am dying to tell people :)

i've just eaten broccoli and mayonnaise, despite DH laughing that it has all started again :) it was so yummy and made me feel not so queasy. DD has a tummy bug, i couldn't work out if my feeling sick was morning sickness or vomiting bug - fingers crossed its morning sickness as i feel better now after my strange lunch. i still haven't heard anything from MW and i was wondering if i should phone hospital to make sure they have my referral letter or should i leave it because of christmas... i don't want to start harassing them already, but i can't wait to see the scan.

mrsmamma · 04/01/2012 13:41

My hubby thinks my boobs have grown and my bra is a little tight but I've lost weight due to general lack of appetite! I'm crAving fruit and salad tho which is great!

I'm going to put off maternity wear as long as possible Smile as soon as I'm in expandable trousers I'll think I can eat for england

mrsmamma · 04/01/2012 13:51

I've just realised I'm 12 weeks exactly on Friday 13th ....... Eek

mrsmamma · 04/01/2012 13:55

Hi balinderry mum I'm waiting for my scan too and I'm nearly 11 weeks!!! I'm going to call Monday if not heard Angry

blackcatsdancing · 04/01/2012 14:03

i'm 8 weeks +2 and just got my nuchal dating scan through for 26 january. Also called fetal medicine centre who said they would always see any woman who needed to be seen - though it could mean a very, very long wait (wednesday only for CVs). i'm being optimistic aren't i? frightened but glad it can all be looked at so early on.

NathanDetroit · 04/01/2012 14:04

poppy my clothes are feeling tighter but I'm not I've put on much weight. Any I have put on is due to eating too much chocolate and spending too much time sitting on my bum. Before I was pregnant I thought nothing changed until 12 wks so am a bit shocked to be feeling like I am. Maybe I was too naive though?!

JParkson glad you have medication for the thrush. I hate thrush so much, I hope I can avoid it as much as possible. I never get "a bit" of it either, I had it once so bad it hurt to sit down!

The appetite last night was a bit of a fluke. Trying to eat a cheese sandwich, 20 minutes in and only managed a half. Grrr. More risotto tonight, maybe there's magic in it?!

PoppyS34 · 04/01/2012 14:27

Thanks for the reassurance anyway everyone.

You'll all have to forgive me if I repeat questions others have asked, I access this site on my phone a lot of the time and have only just read some of yesterday's posts - including the big list :o - there are so many August mums to be - it's great :)

projectg · 04/01/2012 14:54

PoppyS34 please can you tell me where you registered for a daily email? Thanks v much!

glittershoes · 04/01/2012 15:43

Believe it or not I am jealous of all of you sickies who are struggling to eat! I feel decidely normal and unpregnant at the moment!

I had very little nausea to start with but was desperately tired but even that has eased a bit. I still have sore boobs (I know because I keep poking them occasionally to check...) but that is about it.

I was really stressed about it yesterday, googling all sorts but have decided that, as I have no bleeding and no cramps or pains then it is probably all fine (touch wood, cross fingers, make wish) and I am just lucky and a bit symptomless! I hope.

I have my scan (early private) on Sunday so will feel better after that once I see a heartbeat and the little peanut on the screen.

Or am I kidding myself and should be absolutely terrified? Could this be a sign that something is wrong?

PoppyS34 · 04/01/2012 15:45

Hi projecttg, it's on www.whattoexpect.com I think it's an american site, but is pretty useful.

And it's the Babycentre app I've got on my phone, can't remember who asked about app s?

projectg · 04/01/2012 15:52

Brilliant thanks PoppyS34, I will check out the Babycentre app too :)

PoppyS34 · 04/01/2012 16:03

No probs projecttg

glitter try not to worry (I know that's easier said than done). I've googled so much I've sent myself mad... I think you're right - as long as you have no bleeding and pain or cramps then all should be ok. You'll scan will make you feel much better.

I did laugh out loud reading the bit about boobs though - that's exactly what I've been doing, sometimes I forget I'm at my desk and poke them :o

They were sore for a bit at the beginning, and the do sometimes feel a bit odd, just not as sore as I guess they could be, so I guess we are lucky ones :) Mine are very small, so I guess maybe that helps??

JParkson · 04/01/2012 16:27

nathan it's fast approaching that stage (sorry, tmi!) but last night was unbearable. Last night was the first night since getting BFP that I was in the mood, and a. DH was snoring his head off, and b. itch!!!!! Blush I didn't have it all with DD, even though I was on antibiotics more often than not. Maybe I need to get some more pro-biotic yoghurt?! My doula recommended that last pg, and it seemed to ward off any notions of thrush.

I have the babycentre app - it's ok, at least I have an idea of what might be going on inside! But not sure whether I have the right dates yet, as my cycle is scatty to say the least.

And oh, the boobs! DD (15mo) keeps having cuddles on my lap, and brushing against mine, and it's driving me nuts!
