Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 16:31

hi, will add myself to the list:
NathanDetroit (I am a woman, mind!), 30, DC1 due 12 Aug. Am currently 8w2days. getting to 8 weeks feels so good! Saying that, have had pains and backache since last night so hope it's just more stretching and nothing sinister.

Not much liking these tales of nosey midwives! I'll see how it goes. Am quite fascinated to meet her as I live in one of the most deprived and crime/drug ridden areas of the country and imagining the health team have a lot to deal with (there is a renal unit in the health centre..??) so will be very curious to see how they deal with expectant mothers. Or perhaps I'm being a bit of a snob and making lots of assumptions! Friday is my pre-booking group session so I'll report back then. Thinking of booking the nuchal scan for the week after the 18th which is my booking-in with mw.

Work today was OK and probably the best I've felt for ages. Hurrah! I think I don't eat enough at home but when I'm at work I nibble away to break up the boredom. And I am busy from time to time which helps take my mind off how I'm feeling.

hi JParkson congrats and so sorry for your previous loss. xx

geekette · 03/01/2012 17:16

Thanks for the thoughts and welcome JParkson.

GP has detected a UTI. i am not surprised. Have struggled with those for years. ho hum.

A referral has also been faxed to my epu. will know tomorrow when the early scan is. There is a certain air of urgency to it which me no likey.

still no contact from midwife...

glittershoes, i would tell her. it doesn't force her into anything as i guess it is sti early days in planning for her.

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 17:45

geekette aw, sorry you have a UTI, hope you're feeling OK. I hope everything is ok. From looking at EPU stuff online it sounds like they see you quite quickly as a matter of course. best of luck xx

mrsmamma · 03/01/2012 17:48

Glittershoes I can't find ur question but does it relate to a wedding! I'm a bridesmaid for my best mate on 31st August and have a gorgeous size 12 dress that I'm not sure I'll be in 3 weeks after giving birth. She was very understanding and said she understands If I can't be a bridesmaid but I've told her I'll be there under any circumstances! I wouldn't miss her big day for the world and will try super hard to get in the dress Grin

Work was tough today and dragged! I feel so tired I've come home And got straight into my pj's

Dorita75 · 03/01/2012 17:56

Dorita75 (36) DC1 4/9/12 (I joined before seeing doc who said due in Sept - everyone's lovely on here so I'd like to stay please!)

Had my flu jab this morning, asked about sickness/tiredness. I presume as I'm a few weeks behind others on here it's just not kicked in yet. Nurse said she sailed through her pregnancy so here's hoping!! Also had mw booking in appointment made for 25th - I'll be 8+3 so no doubt puking my guts up by then. Glad I've got the date though, scan comes later.

Was strange in work, kept wanting to shout out 'I'm pregnant' in the office (bit like being on a tall building and wondering what it would be like to jump off - you'd actually never do it but the thought appears!!)

I wonder if the nosy mw questions are not related to pregnancy at all, just information that's gathered and will appear in a survey one day....34% of pregnant women are related to their pet hamster type thing!!!

Good luck to all having scans/mw/doc appointments this week xx

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 18:20

Heh dorita75 I was reading a blog last night about health visitors (the alpha parent) where she writes a rather anti- health-visitor post. V interesting as my mum is a HV!

But I think some of the questions to gauge if you are a risk for something or another. I hope it goes ok as I tend to ask "why are you asking all of these irrevelant questions" in those sorts of situations. I'll be marked down as trouble from the off!! ;)

Westcountrywife · 03/01/2012 18:36

Westcountrywife (33) dc1 due 03/08/12

Have my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow. Bit worried as I am a bit chubby and scared she'll judge/tut... Eek.

Westcountrywife · 03/01/2012 18:37

P.s. DH is not my cousin so ok there. The question about being related is common practice here I've been told.

PictureThis · 03/01/2012 18:41

Hello, I'm on the ante natal thread, can I join this one too? Here are my stats
Picturethis (38) DC2 30/08/12 which makes me 5+5 today. It's taken us nearly 4 years TTC#2 so I'm really apprehensive about this pregnancy. One of my colleagues is going to scan me next week just to make sure everythng is in the right place...fingers crossed.

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 18:41

Aw, don't worry westcountrywife, it'll be ok. And if not, set us on her!!

Question: Is anyone else finding their clothes getting tight? I used a hairband to fasten my skirt today as it's just too tight to sit down in all day. Those of you who've been there before - are maternity trousers "big" and you need to wait to get big to wear them or are they just comfy? Considering a purchase although it does all seem to be jeans and not work trousers or anything. :(

McBaby · 03/01/2012 18:54

Hi.

Can I join McBaby (31) DC1 11/08/12

Have been reading all the posts for a while but the whole being pregnant thing was not really sinking in despite the backache, sickness, extreme tiredness and seeing the heart beat two weeks ago (in an effort to convince myself it is real)!

Think it's just about sunk in.

I was wondering if anyone else feels like they are getting bigger, or if it's just bloating or my imagination! Or a bit of all 3! It was a struggle to reach the floor from my chair at work today!

NeedlesCuties · 03/01/2012 19:01

Hi picture I 'recognise' you from the ante-natal thread :) you're welcome here too.

Nathan yes, my jeans are tighter already, which is think is bloating....but it's only going to get worse! Wink
With my first pregnancy I didn't wear maternity trousers at all. I bought one pair of maternity jeans (from Debenhams) and one pair of dressy work trousers (from New Look) and they both kept rolling down over the bump, shifting awkwardly and just generally falling down!

In the end I did your trick with a hairbobble and kept the button undone, and by the end of the pregnancy I'd started to wear DH's jeans and stretchy skirts for work.

Overall I didn't put on much weight, was mainly a HUGE bump so needed big tops to fit my massive belly under. But I was back in size 12 clothes sort of soon enough after....apart from my boobs which took a bit longer to go down.

That might not help much, and I did have friends who loved maternity clothes and needed them from early in their pregnancies, but I think sometimes it depends what body shape you have to start with.

NeedlesCuties · 03/01/2012 19:05

Here is the list of August ladies. I'm sure there will be more added to the list, but thought I'd put out the first draft now for you all to nosey at. There are some details I wasn't sure of, so put a ? instead for now.

Let me know of any mistakes or changes. Thanks!

I've found that I have to undo the button on my jeans come the evening, but otherwise no problems with my clothes yet. I remember I couldn't do my trousers up from 7/8 weeks last time.

miaboo · 03/01/2012 19:15

miaboo dc3 ??/8/12, will know more on the 24th January when I have my scan - Yeah!!

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 19:16

Thanks needlescutie - I'll go try some stuff on in New Look. I think it's just an elasticated waist I'm after! I'm a bit of a funny shape and gave up wearing trousers a little while ago (way before BFP) as even though I lost some weight, they just don't work on me! curious to see if mat. trouser will accommodate my round bum though! ;) Also, I really like shopping!

Wow, that is some list, how exciting. Will this thread stay on MN the whole time? Will be so exciting further down the line when babies start being born!

Westcountrywife · 03/01/2012 19:26

Thanks NathanDetroit will imagine an army if mumsnetters stood behind me if she starts tutting...

I have already been out and bought a new pair of jeans in the sales in a size larger. It's the bloating I think but with jeans they are a hard fabric and I was getting stressed that I was squashing the baby when I sat for a while, especially after meals. I could feel they were tighter, it's really helped. I read somewhere where it was suggested to do this as they will also come in useful after giving birth but before the bump is fully gone...

mrsmamma · 03/01/2012 19:33

My trousers felt a little tighter today but i put it down to post Christmas chunk but i guess it could be baby! My uterus is the size of a grapefruit now (according to my baby book) so it could be that.

I have my 3 month probation hearing at work on Tuesday next week eek!!!

tubtoes · 03/01/2012 19:34

Hello everyone,

I've been laying very low for ages, morning sickness still rife although I have been taking an antihystamine for it and it has helped loads, i even managed to eat a bit of Christmas lunch! Put back on the 4 kilos i lost from constant vomiting but still have no real appetite or interest in food, whch is annoying as i have to eat every 2 hours to stave off sickness.

Going back to work tomorrow after a month away (was sick for 2 weeks before school hols) and am a bit nervous of feeling exhausted, sick, grumpy or all 3 at once. But the wonderful thing is that I had a scan today and I saw my little 3cm big "Gummi Bear" as the lady doctor called it, it was wiggling around and even waving its hands and feet! It was really amazing and now I cant wait or my next one on 25th jan.

For very organised Needles here are my stats
Tubtoes (31) DC1 due 03/08/12 so the same date as midcountrywife (hello!)
Thank you for making the list...

Glitter, did you tell your friend yet? I would definately. My sister is getting married end of april and when i told her i was pregnant the first thing she said was "oh, so you'll be pregnant for my wedding, hmph" which is annoying seeing as this little bean was conveived before she even got engaged! But I am sure your best friend will be thrilled for you and perhaps move the date...

Have a lovely evening all,

TT x

eightieshopaholic · 03/01/2012 19:46

Got MW appointment tomorrow home visit, looking at the posts looks like im going to get asked loads of questions!!!

TheRealMrsSmith · 03/01/2012 19:46

Hi everyone

Mind if i join? I've been lurking on here for a while now and have just got brave enough to say hi Smile

My stats
TheRealMrsSmith (32) DC4 due 23/08/12.

Have spent most of the festive season feeling sick but thankfully not been sick. I'm most definitely bloated and struggling with my trousers, especially on the evenings. Haven't been to Gp to be referred to midwife yet, think it's a mixture of nerves and being too laid back.

The exhaustion is something else completely. DH went back to work today, have been dreading the tiredness taking over but i managed to keep the 2 DSs busy without nodding off!

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 19:47

I am eating food and enjoying it. First time in a while. hope everyone that is feeling sicky is better very soon. I just hope this lasts a bit, I love food.

Just had to share that as it feels so good!

tubtoes · 03/01/2012 19:51

congratulations NathanDetroit! please send some of that this way :o

mrsmamma · 03/01/2012 20:03

im still totally off food, im ok if its little but as soon as a big dinner is in front of me i dont want it! If its a bar of choc ill eat it though!

Hello eightiesshopaholic yes be prepared for lots! My mw app lasted 50 minutes!!!

NathanDetroit · 03/01/2012 20:25

Last night I could only eat half a small bowl of pasta so maybe it's just catch up. God, I hope not! DH been getting worried that I'm not eating much. Sending lots of "big dinner" vibes to all you suffering tonight. DH cooked a lovely chicken & leek risotto with lots of parmesan which I LOVE so definitely wanted to eat it. :)
