Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

GP asked for EPU assistance but went to A&E as EPU didn't have free scanning slots and they didn't want to risk me waiting with an ectopic.

Turns out false alarms everywhere. 1) I am a bleeder. They've taken swabs to find out if there isn't some other reason for the bleeds but looks like i'll have to put up with it. 2) I am a bit skinny and this is my first, lots of stretching going on hence the pain. Hope this helps reassure anyone who was having just about the same symptoms.

It was great to see the little bean with its flickering heart beat. looked like it was having a nice time in a swimming pool!

For my pregnancy, there will be no nausea and no painful boobs. I will maybe get bigger boobs later on... I am a 32A. I was hoping that pregnancy would be the one time I could jump sizes and see how the other half lives.

I will have bleeding, abdo pain and generally feel lousy. If that's it, then i guess I can count my lucky stars.

Hi all,
I was feeling quite anxious recently and decided to pay for a private scan... Had it done today- not exactly what I expected though... It looks like instead of being already about 9 weeks pregnant (according to internet calculations), I'm just about 5.5 weeks (lol). Apparently it's possible as I'm not sure how long my menstrual cycle is (I was very irregular before started taking the Pill, and I got pregnant just after my first proper period since coming off the Pill, so couldn't establish the length of my cycle). I hope it's true and the baby is growing in me- had no bleeding, pain only (seemingly) like those growing pains, my breasts are bigger already and quite sore, but I haven't experienced any morning sickness. I've got a follow-up scan on 13th of January (no, I'm not superstitious lol) and hopefully it will confirm that the baby's growing. Keeping my fingers crossed.

JParkson I wouldn't do sex with thrush, OUCH!!! Hope the meds start working soon, it's good it does clear up quite quickly once you get on the tablets. Such a horrible thing. I hear you on the boobs - my mum doesn't know and she's extremely affectionate so crushes me to her chest when she sees me...just gotta grit my teeth!

geekette - glad you're ok, although the cramps & bleeding don't sound like much fun.

glittershoes - aw, try not to worry. Sunday isn't far away! This morning I felt great, clearing up TWO cat shits (with gloves and much handwashing), pootling around. I was wondering if this was the end of feeling crap. Then I drank some orange juice & nearly puked on my bed. Meh. Seem to be feeling worse in the mornings than the afternoons now, have swapped.

So, thought some of you might be interested that I had a look at maternity clothes in Mamas & Papas. The trousers all looked HUGE, like properly for when you have a big bump. Although they do have a good sale on if you know anyone further along or want to stock up. The staff were crap too when I asked for bump bands she just said they didn't have any...and?! They had a cheap pack of two in Asda though. So we'll see how that goes.

ballinderrymum · 04/01/2012 18:16

geekette i was 34B before first pregnancy and went down to that size again - i forgot how big i was until i was going through my old maternity bras yesterday - 36E! E [shocked]

ballinderrymum · 04/01/2012 18:17

oops Shock now i'm [bluch] :o

ballinderrymum · 04/01/2012 18:17

oh dear i am giving up on the smileys -

practicallyimperfect · 04/01/2012 18:19

I have small boobs, last time they got big but now are smaller!

I feel so rough. Back at work (secondary teacher) have been vomiting all day, having to run out of classroom. I cant eat in lessons, so nausea is worse. And sooooo tired

Gnomi · 04/01/2012 18:35

PracticallyImperfect I really feel for you - I'm a secondary teacher too, have only had inset today but came home at 3.30pm and just crashed, sooooo tired! Does your line manager know? Even if it's really early days, it might help them to cover for you a bit better.

JParkson Sorry to be nosy, did you get given a pessary? I really struggle with thrush and dr has prescribed repeated (weekly) pessaries but I'm a bit scared to use them, even though MW says it's fine. I get scared the baby will be affected. Don't worry about replying if I've asked for TMI! I find probiotics (yoghurt and tablets) really really help.

OK. I really want to stay up for One Born Every Minute - not watched it before but DH is out and I think I need to prepare myself. Hmm

Dorita75 · 04/01/2012 18:46

Bit of a shock KempstonGirl at only 5+5? Shock You're similar to me, I'm 5+3 today. Haven't had sickness or anything yet either but think that will kick in. Though, saw the flu jab nurse at my doctor's yesterday who said she sailed through her pregnancy so we might be alright! I've not got scan date yet but can't wait, just to prove there's something in there. Like Glittershoes, I'm wanting the sickness etc..to come too for the same reason! Am going to tell my mum and dad on my Dad's 65th birthday in a few weeks, all being well.

Can't wait to go clothes shopping too! My friend got her bump bands from Asda and loved them. I remember watching Gok last year who said it's best to just get clothes (tops mainly) a few sizes bigger rather than maternity clothes - has anyone tried that, what do you think?

Littledink · 04/01/2012 18:48

I'm due in August :-) Around the 14th I think. I had a missed miscarriage last June and so i've got an early scan on Saturday - which I am most anxious about. It's exciting but that horrible niggling anxiety too isn't it!

I feel sick this time, which I didn't before, and really repelled by a lot of food - I'm being a right fuss pot which is the opposite of me usually! And sore boobs! Although much better since I got a couple of maternity bras that fit correctly!

Oddly, a friend of mine is also due the week before me!

Exciting times for us all :-) xxx

Westcountrywife · 04/01/2012 19:11

Congratulations Littledink...

Well, saw midwife today for the first time, very quick. I was in and out in 10 mins! She is coming to my home for booking appointment on the 16th. She booked my 12 week scan then and there by phone with the hospital for the 23rd jan. It's starting to feel a bit real now!

Hint to all though. Take a bag with you to your appointment with the midwife, they give you a large pregnancy pack with loads to read and forms to complete. However, it's too big for a normal handbag and has 'pregnancy pack' in large letters on the side. Not very subtle! So if you don't want to advertise your bump....

NeedlesCuties · 04/01/2012 19:32

Westcountrywife I am Envy at you getting a home visit for your booking in appt. Here we have to trek to the hospital and have our booking in appt at the same appointment as we're getting our scan.

Am going to see the community midwife next week in the health centre (will be getting scan in Feb) for the first general "hi, I'm pregnant" appt. Need to bring DS with me, so I'm hoping it doesn't take ages and that he doesn't run around too much.

D75 with first pregnancy I bought things a bit bigger and it was okay. Last time I was heavily pregnant in the dead of winter (DS was born in Feb 2010) so I was wearing lots of layers and wool jumpers... not sure how we'll all be in middle of summer with big bumps.

PictureThis · 04/01/2012 19:58

We have a local company with a nice range of marquees. I'm sure come August one of them will fit me Grin

NathanDetroit · 04/01/2012 20:09

Thanks for the tip westcountrywife.

Just remembered this, which made me laugh so much. Explained to DH where the health centre is that I'll be going to for mw appts and he was like, "OMG! That place is like Fort Knox! It's like Baltimore, in the Wire!". So, I am extremely curious about this place come Friday!

needlescutie I was thinking it would be harder to have clothes in winter with a bump just cos you'd need more of them and all the stuff I've looked at has been so thin?? Am planning on wearing stretchy skirts and vest tops when it gets warm (although can't imagine that at the moment from under my blanket + two jumpers!)

Purplelooby · 04/01/2012 20:20

lol PictureThis

practicallyimperfect and gnomi I am also a teacher and after only 2 days back I honestly don't know how I'm going to make this term! I have snuck some snacks into my drawer and I already got busted by the kids eating them but I don't care - it's that or feel like cack for the whole afternoon.

So has anyone else piled on the pounds on already? I'm only 6 weeks today and I'm eating much less than normal because I feel rough (mostly eating fruit), yet I'm up a clothes size and bra size and I look like I've caused a famine in a small country :(

Angel786 · 04/01/2012 20:55

Hey dorita yes I bought a couple of maternity clothes from topshop (good) some from asos (awful as got too small way too quickly,) and otherwise just larger sizes / loose fitting tops and dresses (eg from gap, monsoon etc). The latter were best!

kempston hope the follow up scan is goes well!

geekette such good news Grin

littledink welcome and congratulations!

glitter did you say your MS disappeared? Mine was v bad but only for a week or two (last time was for about six weeks!) but came back yesterday. Seems worse when I'm not getting too much sleep.

JParkson · 04/01/2012 23:04

Just popping on quickly for a rant... Bloody pharmacy charged me for 2 items - cream and a pessary. I open the bag tonight ready to go, and what do I find? One box, combi treatment. Both pessary and cream are in the same box. (fine not a problem). So why did I get charged for for two effing items?!?!?!

Aaaaaargh! So guess where I'll be going tomorrow!

Rant over :)

To answer your question gnomi, yup I got a pessary! I have no idea how effective it'll be as it could well be lobbed at a little person in a white coat tomorrow! I'm not too worried about using it though, as there's naturally a mahoosive mucous plug between it and LO.

PoppyS34 · 04/01/2012 23:25

jparkson I think it's because it's 2 different treatments, despite it being in 1 box, so two charges... I used to work in a chemis, and this rings a bell. I still think it's cheeky tho :( but maybe give em a call and check? x

voscar · 05/01/2012 00:05

Wow!! Lots of lovely new ladies! Congratulations and welcome!

I'm Voscar (31) DC1 and due 18/08/12

I can't remember who had asked what as I'm on my iPhone so I'll just roll with the conversation! (sorry!)

Weight Gain - oh yes, I've gone from a trim size ten to
A wobbly size 12 with a very definate bump by the end of the day and I'm only 7 +4. I've had to but new work clothes to try to hide it for the next month, but stuff that will stretch when I'm
Allowed to show off my bump! a lot of this is due to a) eating loads to stave off nausea and b) only wanting carbs :(

Sickness - I'm on tablets ( promethezine) and they are currently working a treat. Long may it continue as I was sick as a dog 24x7!

Boobs - have been constantly sore since ovulation and not eased off one bit, gone up a bra and cup size already.

Why do my symptoms seem so exaggerated to everyone else? Hmmmm. Confused I think it's twins!!! Eek!!

miaboo · 05/01/2012 09:29

I've had extreme heartburn and I'm feeling so so sick since I found out!
The midwife thinks I'm 9 weeks but I think more around 7, I told my boss yesterday and all she said was oh I dont know what to say to you, I need time to think this over??!!

Angel786 · 05/01/2012 11:09

miaboo your boss sounds mental! What sort of reaction is that? Am hiding it as long as pos here as due some bonuses and don't want them messed with!

JParkson if you are in the UK you should get a maternity exemption certificate from yoru GP so you don't have to pay for prescriptions / dental care while pg and a year after Grin

Lovemarmite · 05/01/2012 11:16

Hi everyone,
Can I join back in please. Sorry been away as been so tired and sick, changed my name to something more appropriate too (was Vycki) - as I've found a holy grail for me at the moment - Marmite! It's saved my sickies in the morning, hurray! Trying to only have a few slices of bread with marmite but food is being such a problem at the moment as I've gone off everything. I have a gluten sensitivity and told to avoid it but gluten free bread makes me sick... so food is just so hard to face! argh! The other thing that is working, is a risotto made without wine and I've found brown rice risotto rice that is more healthy too. Fruit also is more appealing and also linseeds are really helping with the slowing of the bowels that progesterone is reputed to affect (TMI!). Not sure if these will help for others not facing food but maybe?

My stats are (38) my first, 6+2, due on 14/08/12.

I work at home and study and not sure how I can keep them up in August but I guess it will all work out.

Miaboo - your boss is being unreasonable and she probably just says what she thinks rather than actually thinking! Hope she gets kinder to you!

glittershoes · 05/01/2012 12:50

Still feeling decidedly normal!

I am over the anxiousness a bit though - it is not getting me anywhere! So just waiting for Sunday when the scan person will hopefully tell me that everything looks amazing and I am just really lucky not to be feeling rubbish!

Anyone know of anyone who has had a successful pregnancy with little or no symptoms?

Angel - it is not that the ms has disapeered really, I didn't have a lot to begin with! I was sick once but was mid coughing fit so may have something to do with that! I have felt a bit queasy and the idea of certain foods is off putting but that is about it! My boobs are still sore, sometimes very, other times not so much and I am tired but to be fair I am three days back into work and I am not as 'am about to fall asleep right this instant!' as before.

NeedlesCuties · 05/01/2012 13:16

glitter I had about one symptom with DS (my first pregnancy) and it was nothing more exciting than having strong urine!

He is now a very healthy toddler, will be 2 next month, a total chatterbox and 100% normal. I had a reasonably good labour with him too, all with gas and air.... it did take 17 hours Hmm but apart from that it was grand.

Please try not to worry!!! I'm getting every symptom going this time Confused so it must be true when people say that every pregnancy is different.

PoppyS34 · 05/01/2012 13:17

Glitter if it's any help I paid for a private scan recently and everything is A OK :o saw baby, it's all measuring correctly and on target for time/dates, heard a really strong heartbeat etc... Felt SO reassuring, especially because (like you) I've not had excessive symptoms.

I have some pictures and I am officially over the moon - I know it's still early days, but I'm hoping it's ok to get excited now!

I haven't had too much trouble with boobs and haven't been sick (although do feel nausea by end of day, as per previous posts). I guess I'm just lucky, although the bloating and consitpation are quite making up for the boobs and sickness...Blush

congrats lovemarmite love the name! Might give the linseeds a go for my troubles..

maiboo - pants about your boss, think I might get a similar response when I finally tell them...
