Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Happy new year all!
welcome to ballinderrymum too.

Had a lovely evening last night, went to a work friend of my Dh's for dinner and as DH is blabbing to everyone, the friend's wife knew and had made me up a bag of stuff to take home! She had their baby in October. It was so nice and really cheered me up.

Purplelooby · 01/01/2012 21:10

Congrats ballinderrymum!

Nathan that's a lovely surprise - what sort of stuff did she put in it?

Dorita75 · 01/01/2012 21:31

Think I'm a bit later than others on here, due 4th Sept and I'm waiting for symptoms to kick in - no sickness, bloating or anything yet. Boobs only a bit sore when I run up the stairs but no more than usual monthly feeling - if I didn't have the positive line I wouldn't believe I was pg. I'm only 5 weeks today, is that why? Will all the horrible stuff kick in in the next few weeks?
On a separate note, I'm very proud of my lying last night! Pretended to be drinking vodka&lemo when it was just lemo, babbled on a bit like I do when I'm tipsy...people seem to have bought it, anyone else proud of such performances?!!

NeedlesCuties · 01/01/2012 21:46

Greetings Ballinderrymum, welcome to the board. Do you live in Ballinderry? >nosey< I live in Newtownabbey.

Hope everyone else is well this evening. My sickness has passed for the day, but know it will be back with a rage in the morning :(

NathanDetroit · 01/01/2012 21:49

purplelooby there was LOADS of pregnacare vitamins - hurrah! Some stretch mark creams, a book and some maternity clothes. She also put in a lovely note saying she'd lend me her TENS, hypnobirthing CDs and pregnancy pillow later on. LOVELY! I was feeling really poo yesterday so it got me excited again. :)

Dorita75 - horrid stuff may start up in a bit, or you may be lucky! I've mainly just been feeling crap all the time and a bit sick from time to time. Feel very lucky to have not puked yet, but there's still time...

faintpinkline · 01/01/2012 22:33

Today has been a good day but yesterday was terrible as I had awful backache all night then couldn't cope with getting up in the morning except to rush to the toilet to retch violently without actually being sick as I seem to do every morning.

Otherwise things continue as normal except I keep thinking about gherkins. Surely its too early for cravings at 8 wees?

Dorita75 · 01/01/2012 23:26

Thanks Nathan, I reckon it's just a matter of time, I wouldn't be that lucky! Angel, no name yet, still doesn't feel real. Have tried a few but nothing is sticking, tho bub seems to be one I've thought of most...
Faintpinkline, everything seems possible after joining this thread, so maybe 8 wks is just right for cravings-and gerkins are something people seem to stock up on at Christmas, hope you've got a good supply!

blackcatsdancing · 02/01/2012 09:37

I wouldn't say i have cravings yet but have changed my food preferences- far more into salty and vinegary foods and not much interested in sweet things (complete about turn to my usual taste).

slept so badly last night. Not only do i suffer backpain at the moment- especially in the evening and at night , but yesterday kept awake with stomach pains . Not the sort to cause worry, more like a stretching pain or like something odd was occurring in my tummy. I guess its the uterus growing. Feel incapacitated and useless am so tired. On plus side have booked off several Thursday afternoons to make life easier for me- though i couldn't take this one coming off so worrying about how i'll cope. Thursday is my late night at work and a killer even when feeling well.

Angel786 · 02/01/2012 10:06

My back pain has started slightly too. But the tiredness is a whole other thing! I've been sleeping 8 hours at night but then napping for two hours a day! Am worried about being back at work tomorrow as tummy has def bloated out into pregnancy shape belly and I won't be able to nap!

Hope it eases up black cats

Welcome and congrats ballindery

Hello! I feel brave enough to join as I'm due in August! Grin

I have to confess to not having a clue how all the dates work, but my last period was on the 5th nov and I'm due in August!

V excited, this is my 2nd preg as I mc in June last year so keeping fingers crossed this time round Smile x

mrsmamma · 02/01/2012 13:34

I am off food at the minute eating little and often only works at the min! I don't feel sick but just physically can't eat! I'm finding picking much better!

Welcome to the newbies I'm 10 weeks and 3 days I had the stretching feeling in my tummy for a week or so early on it does wear off

PoppyS34 · 02/01/2012 13:49

Happy New Year everyone. And congrats to all the new positives :)

Did you all have a good New Year? :)

We've not named 'it' anything yet, don't know what to call it really, I'm not doing a very good job at thinking about anything baby related yet, not sure if that's the best plan of action.. Confused.

Think maybe it'll sink in a bit more once I've had midwife booking in appt, and the scans that are coming up. I think I'm about 9 weeks at the moment, the weeks just feel like they're still dragging...

Anyone else got scans and appts coming up?

mrsmamma · 02/01/2012 14:14

I'm wAiting for my scan date now, I saw the mw last week! Then there Is nothing until 16 weeks when seeing the mw again! X
I can't wAit for a bump then I'll feel properly pregnant

PoppyS34 · 02/01/2012 14:51

I was thinking the same thing mrsmamma, I don't feel properly pregnant - when does a bump start to show? I don't feel particularly anything (apart from nausea and tiredness :))

mrsmamma · 02/01/2012 16:03

I think it's different for everyone my friend is 37 weeks and she just popped one day but didn't show until quite late!

mrsmamma · 02/01/2012 16:03

Also apparently if it's 1st baby you show later than if u have had others

NathanDetroit · 02/01/2012 16:31

Am so off my food too, my DH is getting a bit annoyed with me! Only things I like are Special K (oats & honey) with milk, the odd bit of chocolate, fizzy drinks and crisps. I NEVER have fizzy drinks so it's really strange.

Glad I'm not the only one with back ache - why does that happen? It's quite uncomfortable today.

So far I am calling the baby "embi" for embryo - will have to come up with something else after 12 weeks. Or BabyDetroit which is cuter!

Dreading going back to work tomorrow. I'm lucky that I just work in an office but it's been so nice being at home and being able to lie down when I want and not do much. Oh well, will just have to see how it goes.

Kempstongirl · 02/01/2012 17:14

Hi,
I found out I'm pregnant exactly on Christmas Eve morning... Couldn't believe my eyes as even though I wanted a baby, it came as a great shock that it happened so soon (I only had my first proper period at the end of October, after coming off the Pill). I didn't mention anything to my boyfriend until after Christmas as I wanted to be sure I'm definitely pregnant (as at least some of you can imagine, I've done another pregnancy test :)) and wasn't sure how he'd react... He was shocked himself, but now coming to terms with it. The due date is 4th of August 2012- I'm thrilled and scared at the same time as it's my first pregnancy. No reassurance from GP- it was the shortest visit ever... wasn't even asked if I had any questions... the nearest appointment with midwife towards the middle of January, when I'll already be like 12 weeks pregnant...

Dorita75 · 02/01/2012 18:17

congrats kempstongirl, it's mad isn't it, even when you're trying, I still can't believe it and got positive result Christmas morning! So exciting tho;) My doc was similar, said I'd get scan appointment in post and that's it, no mention of seeing a midwife in between. Am getting the flu jab tomorrow so going to ask nurse...how are you feeling?

Purplelooby · 02/01/2012 19:24

Euch I'm also dreading going back to work. I'm a teacher so there is literally no chance for let-up. I can't even be slightly off colour without it getting noticed so I've no idea how I'm going to get through the day tomorrow - especially as I'm sleeping really badly and having really long lie ins.

I guess it's going to be wierd for those of us who found out over Christmas to get back to normal life. How soon are we meant to tell work? I'll have to tell my technician as I teach science so there are some nasty chemicals involved that might harm Apple :(

miaboo · 02/01/2012 20:12

Hi I found out on the 20th December that I was pregnant, and my little boy only turned 1 in November!! and I have another little boy who is 5 this month!
Still in complete shock as wasent trying at all, only returned to work in September! Got my first midwife appointment tomorrow, I think from my dates I'm due 17th August but not 100% sure because wasent really keeping track!

tashaw28 · 02/01/2012 20:43

Hi all Happy New Year!
I found out just before christmas that I'm due on Aug 21st with my 3rd (7 yr DD and 3 1/2 yr DS), I can't face the school run in the morning with nausea and exhaustion, am sure it's much worse this time round that the last two!!

firstfroggy · 02/01/2012 20:52

Happy new year everybody! I have my first appointment with mw on Thursday and not sure what to expect. It's so weird, after the initial pregnancy test you're just left to your own devices - its a relief to read here that everyone else is longing for the 12 week scan. It just doesn't feel real. Sometimes I think, is it still all growing in there? But my boobs are agony, I'm absolutely exhausted (don't know how I'm going to get through 12-hour shift at work tomorrow when I've been napping these last few days in the afternoons) and I have those weird growing pains in my tummy, so I assume all is still well. But like many of you, it doesn't feel real!
Would be good to know what to expect from mw on Thursday I'll be 6+6 then - still so early!!!!!

Angel786 · 02/01/2012 22:20

Welco e kempston stinky Mia and tash

Think my mw aptmt last time around was long and q dull Sad. Lots and lots and lots of questions about family health history, mental history of me and fam, and blood test for HIV etc. Also got asked if I was married to my cousin Angry! I know it means increased risk of disease and is common in some cultures but not sure if they ask everyone or just b/c we're Asian. Then mw explained how the care will work and what to eat, not to smoke etc! It may be different in different areas tho.

Mia my dd is one so if all goes well will have a newborn and a 19 mth old... Exciting but scary! Also terrified of telling work as only returned from mat leave in dec but can't hide it for long as the belly is out!

Morning all,

Just doing some essential procrastinating on MN before I settle down to planning next terms lessons! Have woken up feeling distinctly less queasy today and yesterday, and had loads of energy yesterday (went for a swim, did some gardening, housework, took down decorations, visited a friend and stayed up until 10pm!). I'm really hoping this is the way things are moving forward. I'm 9+5 today.

Angel - I think they ask everyone that. We're white and got asked, and we were asked when we got married too.

Hello to all those with new BFPs.

Does anyone know if there's a list with our stats on? Like our due dates and things? I'm not volunteering to do one, my life gets far too busy from tomorrow!
