Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

I would try and get to an epu my friend had bleeding and went down everything was fine but she she was put on bed rest! Good luck! How far are you?

NathanDetroit · 30/12/2011 18:46

I will be 8 weeks on Sunday. Been rushing around cleaning and lifting my friend's MASSIVE one year old today and it does seem to get worse when I do stuff (hmmm, it'll be easy to avoid that then!) so maybe it's just that & I'll have a rest tomorrow. Such a shock when you go to the loo... :(

will see how it goes and find out about local EPU, maybe call in the morning. Such a bad time to be needing these services!!

Thanks mrsmamma xx

glittershoes · 30/12/2011 19:43

Hello and congratulations to cupcake83, faintpinkline, dorita7, firstfroggy and quickchat, plus anyone I missed!

So great to hear about successful scans; mine is a week on Sunday and I will be 8w2d. Can't wait but a bit nervous!

I have an evil cold which has been worrying me but I have just been trying to rest and stay hydrated. I miss Night Nurse though! Also discovered that feeling queasy plus a tickley cough = being sick.

Feeling a little stressed; my boobs aren't as sore and I haven't felt as tired for the last couple of days but am convincing myself that that is because I have been relaxing as I have a cold and therefore have not noticed it... perhaps...

I am a bit weird with food, I am hungry most of the time but not for anything. I am off anything vaguely greasy or massively flavourful. Pasta, rice and potato are my staples, mainly with cheese. Oh, and beans on toast!

And, scarily, I was desperate for a gherkin the other day, trust me to have such a cliche craving!

peeriebear · 30/12/2011 19:49

I had a positive test yesterday too :) Congrats to all! :)

PoppySeed34 · 30/12/2011 20:06

NathanDetroit definitely find out the EPU number and call them, I think you can ring some of them and self refer. I was referred via GP, but the one I went too would let you ring up. Hope it stops soon, it's so horrible, I was almost scared to go to the loo.. :( good luck.

Glitter - colds are rubbish, having a lower immune system sucks. Hope you feel better soon. x

congrats peeriebear :D

Just NYE to get through now, not looking forward to it as out with a huge bunch of friends who will notice I'm not drinking and just feel so exhausted all the time, really don't feel like being out for ages on my feet.

Angel786 · 30/12/2011 20:29

Congrats and welcome quick and peer ie

Nathan id go to hoital for a check, would put your mind at rest? Sounds like a day of relaxing will be perfect x

glitter dd and I have had a bug for the lad three weeks Sad dr said paracetamol was fine and boots do a lemon honey type cough syrup which is allowed. strepsils in moderation are ok too apparently. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi all, hope all is well. Hugs Nathandetroit, definitely worth seeing someone to put your mind at rest. I did for some bleeding and came away a lot more calm even without a scan...

I've had the beginnings of a cold and went to boots and asked at the chemist what I could take. I was recommended this nasal defence spray and it has really worked and was very pregnancy friendly. Definitely recommend it!

glittershoes · 30/12/2011 20:56

I missed your post Nathan - so sorry. I would call NHS Direct right now and failing that head to the hospital to be checked out. Look at it this way - if it is the worst worst thing (and I desperately hope that it isn't) then it is best to be there and if it isn't then they can reassure you and you may even get that early scan! Look after yourself and sending hugs. xx

Congratulations perriebear!

Good to hear there is a cough syrup I can have - do you know what it is called? This tickley cough is driving me insane, I am sure the baby will end up in my lung or stomach with the force I am coughing!

Anyone know about Vicks vapour rub or a Vicks inhaler? My friend is sure they are fine but any reassurance would be great x

Gnomi · 30/12/2011 21:18

Nathan, I would definitely try to find an EPU - have you had your booking in appointment yet? There may be a number you can ring in emergencies on the front of your notes. And rest! Let us know how you get on.

Glitter, I have exactly the same symptoms as you. Someone here has suggested that craving carbs means you're having a girl! DH made Pad Thai tonight but now am feeling really sick and the house smells of prawns. Bring back the toast!

Congratulations to all the BFPs!!!!

I had my 12 week scan today - they actually dated me at 9 weeks 1 day, which means we conceived very late in my cycle but made more sense- I took 3 hpts on what would have been week 6 according to my first set of dates (really only week 3) and they were negative.
Anyway, little baby is all present and correct, really strong heartbeat and little arms and legs starting to wriggle! It means we've told our families very early, and my due date will be revised to probably early August, but it was brilliant! Good luck to all those having scans this week!

glittershoes · 30/12/2011 22:14

Great news about the scan Gnomi! And very pleased to have you as an 'official' member of the August club!

Also fab to hear that someone is the same as me!

Angel786 · 30/12/2011 23:04

Hi glitter it's from boots called glycerin honey and lemon linctus. I think vices inhalers, tiger balm etc is all ok too ( and olbas ?). Hope it helps x

Thanks all - I had a look online for the EPU here and it was all rather confusing. My booking-in isn't till the 18th but there's the group session next Friday. I might call the midwives office on Tuesday. Feeling a bit calmer after posting here, it's just such a horrible shock, plus I'd been getting cramps too. :( all seems ok now.

Yay for the scan gnomi how exciting. xx

mrsmamma · 30/12/2011 23:30

I got Sussed tonight by some more friends we went out for dinner and they all got a cab I drove n was on water straight away they guest so came out with it. More n more people know now scary

mrsmamma · 30/12/2011 23:30

Guessed lol I have baby brain already Blush

Purplelooby · 31/12/2011 11:40

Thanks everyone for the reassurance about the cramps. They seem to have something to do with (TMI alert) wind and bowel movements so I feel a lot better.

dorita I also found out on Christmas day (am now 5+3) - what a feeling! We had been trying for 18 months so I couldn't believe it. The truth is that I still can't believe it!

We went to the GP yesterday and she has sent our forms off to the hospital so we are just waiting to hear from them before making the booking appointment (which will be at the GP surgery down the road, thank goodness).

Nathan big hugs. My friend had a bleed and she went straight to the EPU where she was given a scan (all was fine) and put on bedrest.

Hope you don't mind me joining. I found out I was pregnant 3wks go now and it still hasn't really sunk in!
This is the first and i'm desperate to have a scan as I think that's the only thing that's going to make it feel real, that and the sore boobs and nausea!
