Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hello all and congratulations to all the recent BFPs!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! Mine was fab although my tiredness has just come into its own so I had to have a secret nap about 4ish yesterday - not easy with a house of 14 people! I discovered that sparkling apple with soda looks exactly like champagne so managed to get away with it although completely forgot that I was 'meant to be drinking' and offered to drive some people home at midnight; cue everyone pointing out that I couldn't possibly drive what with all the champagne I had had! Duh!

Hello

Can I join? Got a positive pregnancy test about a month ago. It was the most phenomenal shock (no idea why! I'm an employed 31 year old in a stable relationship who had come off the pill with a view to having a baby!!).

It was the first month being off the pill and I just though it would take 'ages'. It seems nature had different plans....

Nevertheless I cried about it for hours and hours every day. And then I cried some more. The crying phase seems to have ended now which is good.

Had an early scan because I had a bit of pain and bleeding and saw the heartbeat. My boyfriend was pretty much overjoyed, I just thought it was the weirdest thing I had ever seen.

Trying to be a bit more positive about it and getting there. Still feel pretty knackered and grumpy all the time though.

Ho hum, sure i'll perk up soon!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 26/12/2011 17:22

Geez! That was a great but exhausting Christmas!! Told the family my news and they were super chuffed Grin It is still sinking in though. How are you all? X

NeedlesCuties · 26/12/2011 18:02

I've started to be sick :(

Threw up this morning which was bad as the past few mornings I haven't been able to eat anything until lunchtime, so I was being sick but it was just the drink of juice I'd had for breakfast.

DH was back to work today so it was just me and DS who is an active 22 month old. Me with my head in the toilet and DS running around playing with all his Christmas toys. I'm feeling sick all the time so far with this pregnancy, plus sooo tired.

When pregnant last time I was sick a total of 5 times the whole way through, but was really tired last time as well.

Just need a bit of a moan to you ladies here, as we still haven't told people in RL.

Purplelooby · 26/12/2011 21:26

Hello everyone - I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread because it looks like I'll be due on 31st August...

I got my BFP on Christmas morning, first PG, after 18 months of trying. I still can't believe it has finally happened - I'm buzzing my knickers off!

We sort of had to tell MiL as she was staying at our house, and had to tell my DM, DD, DB and SiL (phew) as they have been so worried about our failed TTC (SiL is PG and it caused me to have a small meltdown). Which sort of meant we had to finish off the set by telling the rest of the close family...

So far only tired, but only 4+6 (probably)

Purplelooby · 26/12/2011 21:33

Forgot to add - my boobies HURT

Purplelooby · 26/12/2011 21:34

Argh sorry - and to add that I don't have a daughter or in fact other children - DD above means Darling Dad...

mrsmamma · 27/12/2011 13:13

Congrats purple Looby what a great Xmas gift! We told our immediate family I didn't want to hide it plus they wud have guessed

I'm exhausted today have no energy at all! At the midwife tomorrow so will hopefully book me a scan

I told a few friends Xmas eve and they were so shocked but very supportive Grin

Purplelooby · 27/12/2011 17:03

Is it your first midwife appointment mrsmamma? Love to hear how it goes.

Westcountrywife · 27/12/2011 18:20

Arghhhhhh.... Told my family this afternoon. Just found out that niece has announced it on her bbm (not hugely sure what it is) but she now says she has just removed it. I am stressing now that it'll go public... Does anyone use bbm and can confirm I've not been publicly outed?

practicallyimperfect · 27/12/2011 18:41

Purplelooby my ds's due date was 31st Aug! He came on 5th Sept. I found out the day before new years eve 3 years ago.

I am going to make midwife appt tomorrow for a few weeks when I will be around 8 weeks. Feel really vomitous at the moment, yuck. With ds it lasted til 14 weeks.

Angel786 · 27/12/2011 19:40

west country bbm is blackberry messenger, you can have a comment next to your contact name, similar to a Facebook status. I guess ot depends how many mutual friends you share with her on bbm?

Congrats purple

My appointments finally arrived, midwife on 7 Jan, scan 16th.... Fingers xd! Anyone else starting to show?? Think it's because I only had dd a year ago so muscles etc already stretched but def getting a rounder belly. Time to start disguising :-/

Hi all, Merry Christmas! So I'm 5 weeks and 4 days now and still no symptoms except tired, and a few period pain like cramps, is that normal? Thought I should be having sore boobs or morning sickness, is worrying me I just feel normal except tiredness?! How is everyone else doing? x

practicallyimperfect · 27/12/2011 20:07

Congrats. The pains are normal, it is stretching. Often morning sickness doesn't start until 6 weeks (think there is a surge in hormones?).

NeedlesCuties · 27/12/2011 20:13

I feel like I've been hit by a bus every day till about dinner time when I start to feel slightly more normal.

Am sooo tired - slept from 9:30pm-9am then again from 1:30-3:30pm today when DS was napping. Still so tired that I might go back to bed early again tonight. When pregnant with DS I was tired a lot too, but back then I didn't have a toddler to run around after!

Have also been much sicker this time than last time round. Just feel so sick all the time, can hardly move my head without wanting to chuck. Been nibbling ginger biscuits which help and have been craving milk a lot too.

Just feeling sorry for myself and need a whinge :( :(

eightieshopaholic · 27/12/2011 20:16

Jods1 · 27/12/2011 20:45

Unfortunatly my parents are abroad and they don't know yet have emailed them asking me to ring me.. they are about 13 hours ahead time wise and haven't had regular access to website.. hoping they'll be in touch by new years as want to tell my mum and this will be their first grandchild.. ho hum.. couisn and aunt have been sworn to secrecy.. only a new years eve party and girlfriends coming round on friday..

Jods1 · 27/12/2011 20:46

oops meant to write internet where website is.. in fact looks like pregnancy is affecting most of my typing skills..

NathanDetroit · 27/12/2011 21:00

Happy holidays!
Hello to new peeps and glad to hear all doing well. I've been a bit down in the dumps the last couple of days - probably from not doing much. But I have so little energy, the house is so messy but I don't feel up to sorting it out. Starting to feel quite rough all the time and my boobs really hurt, like I've been punched or something! Just want to sleep.
Had a glass of champagne on Xmas day which was nice but had it with my dinner. Family still seem to be in the dark.
Visited a friend and her new baby today which cheered me up and I felt pretty good while I was there. Felt rough as soon as I got home - maybe it's the house?! hhaha.
Anyone got any nice apps on their phones for the daily information? I've got the "What to expect when you're expecting" but todays (7w 2d) is annoying me so much I want another one! That may be irrational pregnancy rage, of course!

xxx

Purplelooby · 27/12/2011 21:29

Yuck - just started getting some tummy cramps this morning and got really paranoid, but my SiL is also PG and she has them too. Dr Google made me feel a bit better - especially as I have a lot of wind (sorry TMI). Anyone able to reassure me? They aren't particularly painful and are to either side of my lower abdomen. Sort of on and off.

By the way, is anyone else PETRIFIED of needles? I am so sad - I had the EMLA cream for the two blood tests I had to check my fertility hormones a few months back...

glittershoes · 27/12/2011 22:07

Hello and hi to everyone!

I am feeling really down today; I have just had a little cry. Whole host of reasons I think, I am getting a cold and feel just so exhausted and have no motivation to do anything - everything seems so hard and so much effort!

We were at my inlaws this afternoon for a get together, only his Dad and stepmum know. I am usually the life and soul of the party but I felt so rubbish and tired that I was a bit subdued. I had people constantly asking me what was wrong and 'where have you gone?' 'you are not yourself!' 'I miss the fun you!' and it just made me realise that I am not me at the moment and that I will never be the same me again.

Totally silly but can't help it!

Hope everyone is ok, can't wait to hear how your appointment goes mrsmamma!

NathanDetroit · 27/12/2011 22:36

purplelooby I get the cramps all the time. Try not to worry. I don't always succeed in not worrying but it's meant to be everything stretching. I also often get quite a horrible pain in the wee hours of the morning but it doesn't last long. Definitely get them either side of the "bump" (chocolate & cake) quite low down.

glittershoes that's exactly how I've been feeling - my life will never be the same, whatever happens! I'm also feeling a bit sad that I won't be able to get back on my bike until Summer 2013.

Then I start feeling ungrateful and worried that I'll make things go wrong. Seeing my friend's baby today really cheered me up because babies are so cute and I am growing one. :D xx

Dolliedaydream · 28/12/2011 07:44

Hi all, I've been up for hours, can't sleep as we have a scan this a.m. We booked it last week when i was having a wobble, generally feeling hopeful but worry worry worry all the same.
Ds came into bed..again last night and was cuddled to death for a good hour and a half, probably just encourages him but made me feel better.

Cupcake83 · 28/12/2011 10:04

Hi Girls,

I too have just found out I am pregnant. There I've said it. I've been unable to for days. We found out last week and according to the calculators on the web I am about 5 weeks, due at the end of August. We were going to try and keep it secret until 12 weeks but with Christmas it is too hard.

So, last week I was feeling really weird. My head felt dizzy for a few days and I think I am loosing my marbles already. I've also been feeling tired at about 3pm and getting some very mild tummy cramps. So far no feelings of sickness, but some tender boobs and some funny lumps on my nipples (eeewww).

I feel very lucky as it is only our third cycle and I had resigned myself to the fact it would take a year or more. I'm actually slightly shocked.

geekette · 28/12/2011 10:46

Welcome and congrats cupcake!

Lucky you! I read somewhere about those nipple lumps. Something about the nipple preparing for latching but I haven't had any of the signs and symptoms I was expecting...

I am with purplelooby, mild period like cramps and lots of gas which i have been hoping to attribute to christmas food ...whistle... No nausea... yet.
