Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

That's when I feel dizzy, Angel. Sometimes just a random spurt of dizziness bothers me but not much!

I've had trouble making sense today! Got the best night's sleep last night but I was calling people by the wrong name, referred to a calendar as a calculator and the post as toast. Luckily my colleagues already think I'm mad!!

TreacleChops · 23/12/2011 22:26

Hiya ladies,

Got a faint BFP this morning, going to test again 2moro, but it looks like i'm going to be joining the group of August babies :D

So exciting! 16months in the making for this baba!!!

geekette · 23/12/2011 22:56

This is my first post ever on mumsnet! I hope you will welcome me into your circle.

This would be my first pregnancy and apparently i am at 5weeks.

I got my first BFP on Monday but couldn't believe it as we had only been trying for a month and I have some major fibroids, so I did a second test on Tuesday. Looks like lots of people do this Xmas Smile

I had a load of signs last week, lots of clear mucus (tmi?) and really large aching breasts.
But this week everything is back to normal and all that is left are nipples hard enough to open tin cans with.
This does worry me a little bit... but I have had no bleeding. yet.
The tummy does hurt every once in a while.

I haven't seen a midwife or a GP yet but the midwife meeting is scheduled. I find it quite comforting that they are taking their time instead of rushing in a panic to have me scanned and all. That must sound weird but it's true.

Westcountrywife · 23/12/2011 23:05

Yeay geekette and welcome to 'the club'

Don't worry too much about symptoms coming and going, seems to happen a lot. I thought my nausea had completely gone till a really smelly man on the bus almost made me pass out. How often are you thankful for smelly people!!!?!

MissC36 · 23/12/2011 23:09

Hello, new lady alert! Had confirmation from doctors today that we've finally made it after 5 long years and a ruptured ectopic! Completely terrified, clocking up the years at 36...would love to be in this fabulous little gang :)

PoppySeed34 · 23/12/2011 23:27

mrsmamma what a fab present :)

hello TreacleChops, geekette, MissC36 waves congrats to you all, that's great news.

Angel786 that's SO exciting, but I just start panicking if I think about things like that too much Xmas Shock, I think once I've got to the 12 week scan I'll feel better... fingerscrossed!!

Judy2201 · 23/12/2011 23:50

Hello I would love to join this group too. 8 weeks pregnant today so DD is 3rd August thought this would never happen after going through IVF but am just hoping things will keep going without any problems. All my friends have kids so and most of them had quite terrible birth experiences is anybody else anxious about giving birth- went to my GP who said it could go either really well or it could also be terrible- great!

NathanDetroit · 24/12/2011 00:24

Wow, so many new people this evening! Congratulations and welcome, sounds like you've all been through so much.

Judy I've been reading this thread tonight which has some nice reassuring birth stories and tips too: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/1350240-Anyone-want-to-share-a-GOOD-birth-story?pg=3

Morning, just got my letter from the midwives. Have a pre-booking group session and then my booking-in two weeks later. Anyone else had a pre-booking group thing? Is that standard? It's freaked me out a bit, have to say! All feeling a bit real and stuff, which of course it is. Strange times.

Merry Xmas Eve!

NeedlesCuties · 24/12/2011 13:35

Happy Christmas to you all Xmas Smile here's wishing you festive blessings for you and your bumps.

I don't have my GP appointment until the new year (when I'll be 7 weeks) then will prob get a letter from hospital for booking in appointment around 12 weeks. Didn't want to rush things and I'm assuming that the system will be the same as it was when I had DS 2 years ago.

Nathan not heard of a group session.... whereabouts do you live? It might be standard in your area. I live in Northern Ireland, am assuming rest of UK might be different.

blackcatsdancing · 24/12/2011 13:42

nathandetroit i have my prebooking next week (i'll be 7+4), it isn't a group thing though. Pre-bookings are standard in the area i live in, so no freaking out allowed just before Christmas!
Happy Christmas to all.

Redbird12 · 24/12/2011 17:51

Just want to wish everyone a happy Xmas, lovely to hear from all the new August mamas to be and look forward to hearing more about everyone's midwife appointments & scans over the next few weeks Xmas Smile

NathanDetroit · 24/12/2011 19:10

needles I keep having to undo my clothes so bumps sounds about right!

I'm registered in an area of high deprivation and it says it's a session to help us have a healthy pregnancy so I'll be interested to see what it's all about. It's only half an hour so a bit of a pain to get from work to there & back again but it'll be interesting to meet other due mamas in the area and the midwives.

Happy Xmas everyone, my cat is puking up everywhere to help us celebrate - I thought I was the one supposed to be sick!!

xx

MissC36 · 24/12/2011 19:42

Popping back to wish you all a very merry (if not a tad 'dry') Christmas, have a wonderful time XX

mrsmamma · 24/12/2011 23:22

Yes sober Xmas to all! Blackcat I measured at 9 weeks on day of scan which is exactly what I thought x

Jods1 · 25/12/2011 12:43

Hi everyone,

Totally new to this.. so here goes.. only came off pill in October and missed period this week and took pregnancy test which was positive, planning to see doctor next week. Although we have just started trying, am still a bit shocked.. also a bit miffed as I have nice cheese in for crimbo and can't eat it :-(. Have worked out that I'm somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks pregnant. Also want to keep news to ourselves but going to new years do, relatives on boxing day and not sure how to decline drink without making it majorly obvious.. any advice?

Jods1 · 25/12/2011 12:44

oops meant to have said this is my first pregnancy..

geekette · 25/12/2011 13:08

Merry Christmas everyone!

Welcome and congratulations Jods1!

There is apparently a trick of fake or diy shots which some of the girls can let you into.
Personally, I go for the glass of tonic water which looks like a G&T :)

Angel786 · 25/12/2011 13:46

Congrats jods you could try nonalcoholic drinks tat look alcoholic like geekette said, I also accept alcoholic drinks, pretend to sip them then dispose of them secretly. Or you could say you're on anti biotics / driving to avoid drinking?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! X

Sparklesandglitter · 25/12/2011 19:36

Hi! I'm due towards the end of August, 1st pregnancy and about 6weeks gone. Still waiting for it to sink in really, currently my only symptoms are sore boobs and feeling bloated. I can't wait for proper symptoms though as I don't really feel pregnant yet (but I've put 3lbs on already!!) very excited although it was a bit of a shock as it was our 1st month ttc! Can't wait for 12weeks to be able to tell everybody Smile merry Christmas!!!

mrsmamma · 26/12/2011 07:31

Jods I did fake drinking at an Xmas party and it worked! I'm known for liking a drink at a party but managed to convince them!
