Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

AFter suffering an MC in March, I've literally just done the test and found out that I'm expecting baby number 2! I'm completely thrilled and feel so fortunate. My fingers are firmly crossed for the health of this baby. I've just used the Mumsnet Due Date Calculator and I'm due on the 30th of August. Now, to work out how to afford maternity leave again Smile

Congratulations theressomethingaboutmary! It's so exciting!! I'm so glad we get time off over the next week to enjoy it!

MrsMigginslovespies · 22/12/2011 17:43

Hello all, and welcome to the new ladies. Congratulations to you all! Well, today, morning sickness hit me like a train. Was so nauseous all morning, then very sick and felt so dreadful. Headachy, tired and bleuch bleuch. Finally had shower at about 3 and felt bit better. Have managed some toast but still feel tired and headachy. Am dreading this to be a sign of thigs to come, especially over Christmas, as am spending it at my mother-in-law's for the first time. Yikes. But in an odd way, glad that so far, so normal, if that makes sense!

Have a nice evening!

I will remember that advice angel as I filled out the form in red pen and it needed to be faxed. Awkward time of year for them getting in touch, I guess so I'll have to get on it first week of Jan if I don't hear from them.

It's weird because my old surgery was pretty spiffing with lovely furniture, high-tech patient calling system, all this. Midwives & health visitors on site. This is...different!

Have been feeling totally shite today, but haven't really eaten enough...eating a lot seems to help. But the Xmas food shop is done. Hurrah!

practicallyimperfect · 22/12/2011 20:34

Angel- it depends where you are in country. I don't need to see the GP, I book straight with midwife. Every PCT is different. With Ds I went to GP and told him I had done a test. He asked me why I was there then?

I am going to wait for January. I am only 5 and half weeks. No point having booking in appointment until at least 8 weeks, so still have time to make appointment.

blackcatsdancing · 23/12/2011 09:03

i'm seeing my midwife for a pre-booking next week when i'll be 7+4, its well timed as the day before I am having private scan for reassurance so anything worrying i can discuss with her and get referred to EPU rather than pay for another follow up scan. But nothing will be wrong! There will be a healthy heart beat!

PoppySeed34 · 23/12/2011 12:36

good luck with the midwife appointment blackcatsdancing :)

Hope everyone has a lovely festive period and manages to get through it without any traumas or stresses.. Xmas Grin

x

Redbird12 · 23/12/2011 15:54

blackcatsdancing, sounds like we'll be having our midwife appointment around the same time, mine is next Fri when I will be 8+4.

I have suddenly seemed to develop 'baby brain' and have become totally forgetful. Not sure if it is too early to blame the pg but yesterday I managed to lose my purse with all my cash & cards in, so had to go to the bank to get some money just to buy some indigestion tablets which I promptly had missplaced by the time I got home and then came to wrap pressies and got all stressed that I couldn't find my sister's anywhere until I realised it was already wrapped and under the tree (had done it over a week ago!). By the time DH came in from work was feeling very useless & emotional. Hope I can get through the rest of the Xmas period without any more mishaps!!

NathanDetroit · 23/12/2011 16:31

Happy Xmas Eve Eve all!

Had my registration medical at the doctors today, with the practice nurse. She was really nice and said she wouldn't measure my waist as I was pregnant. :)

One question - I get very nervous before medical appts (and most other appts, to be fair) so when they take my blood pressure, it reads a bit high (124/85 today - what does that mean?!). Any tips on not winding myself up before the appt? I try to do deep breathing and think calming thoughts but that little knot of stress just hangs around until about five mins in. When I book in with the mw I'll ask for bp check to be done at the end...unless she's mean and then it'll be even higher! sigh.

Westcountrywife · 23/12/2011 16:53

I have blood pressure checks quite regularly for something else... I have worked out that my blood pressure is higher if I talk when they measure it (i tend to get anxious too hence the chatter). To get a true reading I need to keep my mouth shut, works like a treat... Wink

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/12/2011 17:24

I have FINALLY done all my Christmas shopping happysigh Xmas Grin

Er...Are we all on the same two threads?! I recognise lots of names on here!!

PoppySeed34 · 23/12/2011 19:23

RedBird12 I think I've got baby brain already too, it's not looking good for the rest of the 7 months if the last 8 weeks are anything to go buy Blush.

what a bummer about your purse and cards, that's awful :(

Frilly - two threads?!? did I miss a thread? Confused

Westcountrywife · 23/12/2011 20:27

Yes there are two threads and a few of us are double dipping (sniggers). The other one is in pregnancy, ante natal...

There are more first time mums here though I think as we didn't associate ourselves with the words 'ante natal'... we will learn!

NathanDetroit · 23/12/2011 20:29

hi poppy here's the link to the other thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1363541-Sunny-Summer-August-2012-Babies#29138560

Am reading the Good birth stories thread which is really cheering. :)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/12/2011 20:34

Oh, what does ante-natal mean then?! So much to learn!!

Westcountrywife · 23/12/2011 20:44

Ante natal = before birth = us (eek)

eightieshopaholic · 23/12/2011 20:45

PoppySeed34 · 23/12/2011 20:55

eightieshopaholic · 23/12/2011 20:56

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/12/2011 20:58

Phew!

NeedlesCuties · 23/12/2011 21:17

Everyone, but especially frilly yesterday morning I posted a link on this thread to the ante-natal Aug 2012 thread!

Don't lie and say that no one told you about it Xmas Wink

get thee over there. I was on the March 2010 ante-natal thread when I was pregnant with DS so am loving being on the Aug 2012 thread too.

After our babies are born there will be a post-natal thread, which is also fun :)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 23/12/2011 21:35

That's how I saw it needles! It's a good thread!!

mrsmamma · 23/12/2011 21:51

Hey Guys!

Had an early Xmas Pressie today off my husband! It was a private scan Xmas Grin
It was so amazing saw a very strong heart beat straight away and midwife said it all looked fab! To see your babies heartbeat on the screen is truly amazing, we even saw in 4D! It was such a relief i got a bit emotional! Id doubted my pregnancy as got no symptoms but saw it in real life! wow!

For anyone who has concerns go and have one, I highly recommend it really put me at ease and cant stop looking at my scan pics!! I have been that worried and wouldnt let him tell anyone that my hubby decided a great xmas pressie would be to see it!! It truly was!!

Have a great xmas all!

Angel786 · 23/12/2011 22:11

Wowwww! Congratulations mrsmamma that's a great gift!

Double dippers all welcome here, the more the merrier Grin

Eighties and frilly I've been light headed too, more when I stand up too quickly but think it's all q normal.

Just think, next year, God willing, we'll all have one (and for some two!) new additions celebrating christmas with us next year!
