Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Yes, pizza for me! The best chance I have of being able to eat is if I don't cook it myself... preferably also that I am nowhere near the cooking!

Gingerelle · 15/12/2011 21:31

Hi all, I found out I'm pregnant yesterday (test said conceived 2-3 weeks ago but think I may be 'officially' 5/6 weeks....very confused by the dating process!)...I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment but nice to see there's lots of excited people at the same stage. Re symptoms - my boobs have been really sore for a couple of weeks (I thought it was a bad PMT symptom after coming off the pill but clearly not!) but other than that I don't feel any different physically, just a bit all over the place with the realisation about what's happening. Scary stuff.....

Deafworm · 15/12/2011 21:37

Westcountrywife, I find I can cope with things better after about 2pm wonder how long that oddity will last!

Welcome gingerelle and congratulations! Is this your first or do you have others? This is dc4(and final!) for us and it's still all new and different

Westcountrywife · 15/12/2011 21:40

Gingerelle, did you use a clearblue digital test? If so, it means 2-3 weeks since fertilisation which means 4-5 weeks pregnant counted from the first day of your last period...

Gingerelle · 15/12/2011 21:40

Thanks deafworm! This is my 1st, hence the huge anxieties. Not telling friends/family yet while we try to get our head around things (though if I am not drinking at xmas my family are definitely going to suspect something!) so you're the first to officailly know!

Westcountrywife · 15/12/2011 21:44

Deafworm, I seem to get that and then another wave when dinner is cooking... Had my first actual sickness this morning, only very little bit (sorry for TMI). But then it's not every day, comes and goes.

Gingerelle · 15/12/2011 21:47

thanks westcountrywife....yeah I did use that one. First day of last period was actually 6 weeks ago, but that was my first 'pill free' period which was 6 weeks after I came off the pill, so don't know if that will effect the dates? It was a bit scary reading stuff yesterday about being 2-3 weeks down the line and then realising I am offically double that...

Deafworm · 15/12/2011 21:51

You are welcome gingerelle, we aren't telling family yet though a couple of local friends know as we went out for a meal on Tuesday and I knew they'd comment on me not drinking! I'm ducking out of a visit to family next week so I don't have to explain the sickness.

Tmi takes on a whole new meaning when pregnant I think west, don't worry! I seem to be coping in the evening so far, just lots of little meals between 2 and bedtime, still less than I'd normally eat though I think.

Deafworm · 15/12/2011 21:52

Must stop looking at prams and baby clothes Xmas Grin

MrsMigginslovespies · 15/12/2011 22:16

Ooh, I'm loving this thread already! Thanks all for your kind comments, and it's great to be able to come on and talk about it, as my DH and I haven't told anyone yet (only parents and our sisters), so good to chat. I'm also interested about your info on midwives etc. I have an early scan (because of IVF stuff) on 5th Jan when they confirm heartbeats and if they're twins... very exciting, but also seems like ages to go. I'm being super-careful (almost as if I'm post-surgery), as it's such early days yet. But have been looking at prams, clothes, cotbeds in John Lewis and er, baby wallpaper. Not that I'm getting ahead of myself or anything Xmas Wink.

So am off to bed now as am shattered, but wanted to say hello and congratulations again to all! x

glittershoes · 16/12/2011 09:04

Hi Gingerelle! You sound at about the same stage as me, I am due around 17th August, do you know when you are?

I have woken up super excited (ahhhh there is a baby inside me!) and got even more so when I saw that I have my letter from the midwife!

My booking in appointment is for the 23rd January when I will be just shy of 11 weeks - seems awfully late but there you go. A bit worried that the scan will then also be late as it seems unlikely that they will be able to get me an appointment for just a week or two later. May give them a call to check as if the scan won't be till I am nearly 14 or 15 weeks then I am most definitely booking a private one. I am just too impatient!

Deafworm · 16/12/2011 09:17

If my memory is right your scan should be before the end of your 13th week for accuracy, but it's been a while since I did this, I got 2 12 week scans with dd2 as my dates were a but out according to the first one and the scan isn't accurate too early either

PoppySeed34 · 16/12/2011 10:12

Morning everyone :) had my first Xmas party last night, and drank mocktails all night, so no one noticed a thing... Xmas Grin phew... two more to go and then just Xmas to get through... my goodness I miss a glass of wine..

Being a complete newbie at this, I'm not sure what happens re doctors and midwife..? I've been to doctors, so do they now refer me to hospital and midwife, or am I meant to call and book an appointment myself?

I didn't really think about asking when I saw the GP, and haven't had a letter or anything, but then only saw them last week. I'm guessing it might take a while?!?

Not many symptoms today, but am really looking forward to a lie in tomorrow.

Deafworm · 16/12/2011 10:17

Give the gp a ring and talk to the receptionist poppy, it varies all over the country (3 children 3 health services!) I'm sure they will know what the procedure is in your area and tell you your best course of action. This is the first time I've lived in an area where you have to see the gp before you see the midwife, I'm dreading it. Hope you get your appointment soon.

My symptoms have taken an odd turn, I still feel absolutely vile but at the same time I'm starving, I'm making a bacon and sausage sandwich as its what I really want but the smell of it cooking is turning my stomach Xmas Sad

mrsmamma · 16/12/2011 13:20

I rang the docs 2 days after finding out n rang to see what the next stage was I had to see my gp but that was a wAste of time and seeing mw on 28th so I'll let u all know how I get on! Boobs seem less sore now!

Dreaded Xmas party tonight boo

PoppySeed34 · 16/12/2011 14:18

Thanks deafworm, I phoned GPs at lunchtime and they've sent letter to antinatal place, so just have to wait for a letter now.

I have sore boobs today and have felt really sick today - but I am SO pleased/relieved. I know that sounds mad, but the last few days I've been quite symptomless and I had a bit of a bleed (sorry if TMI Xmas Blush) post internal scan, so that freaked me out slightly..

Good luck with your Xmas party mrsmamma, I hope you manage to get through it ok... :)

Gnomi · 16/12/2011 17:49

I don't think there's TMI here Poppy, I hope your bleeding stops soon.

Welcome Gingerelle! My cycles were very long when I came off the pill, and I conceived on 1st natural cycle. The midwife has dated me at 10 weeks, but that may well change after the dating scan. She said the due date could change then too.

I'm SO impatient for the scan! It's really good to be able to come here and post about being pregnant. We're seeing DH's family tomorrow, but have agreed not to tell them as his sister has literally just announced that she's expecting no. 2. It'll be great - our kids will be almost the same age - but we don't want his parents worrying too much.

Apart from the tiredness, my nausea has totally stopped today - yippee! Now I just want to sleep for at least a month!

GlitterySkulls · 16/12/2011 17:59

i've just had an early scan today, & my (very much estimated) due date is 8th august- very very very happy & excited Xmas Grin

already seems to be a very different pregnancy this time around- not that i'm complaining !!

Gingerelle · 16/12/2011 19:23

Hi all,

Day 3 of knowing I'm pregnant for me and all still feeling a bit odd but starting to get my head around things I think. Not many symptoms apart from not really feeling hungry, but that may be the sleepless couple of nights I've had, and thankfully at least there's no sickness....yet!

Hi Glittershoes! Not sure about my due date yet, seeing doc next tues so hopefully will get a bit more info then, but from my own calculations it looks like we may be about the same!

Hi Gnomi - did they date you from the first day of your last period even though your cycles were longer? I'm finding it hard to figure out exactly how many weeks I 'count' as! This preggers things is confusing!

G x

thatboysmum · 16/12/2011 19:38

Hi, I'm new
I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my 2nd, according to my dates I am due at the end of August, so it's still very early days for me!
Congratulations to everyone on here Smile

eightieshopaholic · 16/12/2011 20:17

Glitteryskulls I think I'm around that date, too.. yay!!

Congrats Gingerelle, good luck with Drs x

hello thatbuysmum - congrats to you too, and eightiesshopaholic

I needn't have worried about being referred, got my letter through today for my first appointment and for my 12 weeks scan at the same time... how exciting, gotta wait 5 weeks tho - boo!!

Westcountrywife · 16/12/2011 21:57

Eightieshopaholic, welcome and congratulations! Looks like we're in similar boats.... I have psoriatic arthritis and have had to come off my meds to do this. It's all a bit scary and already have nurse, doctor and consultant involved in this pregnancy! Just hoping I don't have any horrid flare ups over the next few months and that some lovely pregnancy hormones take over... Grin

excitingtimes · 16/12/2011 23:17

Hi all, I'm due in august too and it's day 5 of us knowing. It's our first one so it's all very new me. No symptoms but sore boobs so I know what you meant poppyseed34....I'll be relieved to get other symptoms, though maybe not for very long!

Thanks everyone for the thread, it's good to read x

NathanDetroit · 17/12/2011 07:31

morning all, hello more new people!!

Had a horrible hour this morning of really bad stomach pains which were frightening. Everything seems ok at the moment but I am now really keen to have a scan and make sure everything is ok. This early pregnancy thing is certainly a testing time on the nerves!

Still having dodgy tummy problems in the morning and spoke to my friend who said she had that for the first eight weeks. ARGH! I guess I'm going to have to just put up with it but it's really not fun.

Travelling for hours today so wish me luck...
