Hello all

evie glad you got checked out. Hot flush doesn't sound pleasant. Maybe along with the other symptoms, it's just your body gearing up?

I had a bad night's sleep on top of a generally bad day yesterday, so woke up feeling totally past myself this morning. Ended up in tears again. Still, managed to get a bit of rest this afternoon and DH has been more thoughtful since he came home from work. I must have really looked like sh*t if he's twigged I'm feeling rough! Grin

I have jotted down a birth plan for what it's worth. I don't know if I'll see my MW before everything kicks off. Depends what consultant says on Wednesday. Plus my MW was a bit sarcastic about it when I asked a few weeks ago. "what's a birth plan?" she said (?!?) It might be that mine ends up being really medicalised but thought it was worth writing some bullet points down anyway.

winter how are you finding the birth books? I can't get into the JuJu Sundin one. Found the other book really good but I can't see myself doing 'visualisations'. Some of it made sense, like being active to get rid of adrenalin so you don't tense up. Hoping they don't try and strap me to a monitor the whole time tho.

theonly when will you hear about your housing benefit? money worries are horrible but sounds like you have a great attitude. I've learnt to be less of a worrier than I used to be but still have a way to go!

Sorry for rambling on too much again. I always write too much. Confused

WinterLover · 19/07/2011 09:07

Hi Root Ive done that, scribbled down a rough birth plan incase something happened in the meantime. I have a 30min appointment with the midwife tomorrow to outline it. At least with mine although they say thye dont always get to stick to it, they do at least spend time with you going through one.

I like the JuJu Sundin one, half way through it now. Then will start on the other one Grin

WinterLover · 19/07/2011 11:55

I think and I say think that I may have lost my plug.. all morning ive had a lot more mucas discharge and then when I went to the toilet and wiped I had a brown mucas lump..

Baby is still moving, well stretching (theres not much room in there for it now) and going by the growth scan I would be due in 2w4d....

DP should be home by 4 so I will keep my eye on it then ring midwife as I just realised I may end up needing an anti-d jab.. FFS!!

Well suppose I best get some dinner and get mine and babys bag packed just in case..

Rootatoot · 19/07/2011 12:12

wow winter you are gearing up ! Doesn't necessarily mean that you'll go into labour imminently though does it? I think you can lose plug and then labour follows even a week or more later? Mind you I would definately have bag ready as you say :)

Can't believe we're all at this stage already. Where did last few weeks go!?

Good luck! xox

WinterLover · 19/07/2011 12:30

thanks root I know, I practically shat myself.. I washed all babys clothes yesterday and spent this morning ironing them and putting them into sizes for DP's ease Grin

Hoping baby isnt on its way as DPs still in scotland...

I know its so weird, its gone sooooooo quick

theonlyhb2 · 19/07/2011 15:40

i have definitely had more discharge the past week, i been worried about the plug but friend lost hers nearly 3 weeks before birth so could be a while yet!

I officially start ML on 28th so by the time i send off all forms etc prob wont find out til Sept about housing benefit.

I have been to hairdresser so feel glam now :)

Eviepoo · 19/07/2011 16:25

oh this is getting exciting - there should be baby news soon Grin

I am having period type pains most days now.....

I'm finished up next Friday here at work..so a week after that Dragon can come, after I have had a wee rest...

Oh and I am just about to post a picture of the nursery up on my profile if you are interested to see :)

WinterLover · 19/07/2011 18:22

It is all very exciting :)

Getting funny odd twinges now... I pray to god I dont go into labour tonight/tomorrow on the count of DP having to leave home at 4am tomoro and wont be back until about 6pm ish :( and there is no way he cant go and he'll be about 5 hours away... will have to call mum if I do go into labour then pray DP doesnt miss it.

Got everything ready for my bag now, just need to find a bag to put it in. Going to build up the rocking crib after tea, then thats one less thing to worry about. Ive kinda sorted all baby stuff out now, although it is still all dumped in DSDs room its in order so if i do go in for a few days DP can easily lay his hands on things id need.

Eviepoo · 19/07/2011 18:46

Evie just realised your due on my DPs birthday Grin

Gemsie77 · 19/07/2011 22:21

Hi, I'm just new to this. I'm due to have my c section on 16th August, so not long now. I think I might have a siatic nerve problem or a trapped nerve. It's most apparent when I sit on the loo and can make me yelp in pain. Has anyone had this? I also have had aching 'down there's for months and was told that's to do with the pressure. I have had lots of physio on my pelvis before being pregnant.

Any advice or info would be good thanks.

oinkyoink · 19/07/2011 22:38

hope everyone is well!
i can't believe how soon we are all having our babies, it seems to have gone so quickly. i think i am still in denial about how soon baby will be here even though i am excited to meet them too. mixed feelings i guess!!!
hello gemsie i used to have sciatica years ago and it is really uncomfy but i haven't had it in a long time, good luck.

Rootatoot · 19/07/2011 23:19

oinky Think I'm in a bit of denial too. I can't quite fathom how I'm 'suddenly' nearly 36 weeks gone. I think it's the bp tablets. I've been so spaced out I feel like I've missed the last month entirely! I don't feel ready at all. Totally clueless about feeding and basically what to do with a baby!! Strangely though, I felt far more panicky earlier in my pregnancy. Maybe this is also the tablets. I feel oddly chilled about it all, but then it doesn't seem real. Yeah, it's the medication isn't it?!! ;)

Hi gemsie Your due just before me but my LO is threatening to appear sooner - we'll know tomorrow hopefully after growth scan/consultant appointment. Sorry you're in pain. Sounds nasty but sorry I don't have any experience from which to offer advice. Try posting a thread about it maybe?

WinterLover · 20/07/2011 08:44

Root Good luck for your appointment today Grin

My MW appointment is at 11am so hopefully il know something. Twinges turned to not much last night, just the odd tightening. DP somewhere down south now, was up at 3am getting him off to work Hmm but at least I went back to bed. For past few days not been able to sleep for more than 45-60min at a time before needing to get up. Oh and when I did go back to bed this morning LO thought it wasnt sleep time it was PARTY time!!

Gemsie77 I get the hip pain too but usually only at night, and in my left hip so i guess it due to pressure being put on that side whilst sleeping as if I fall asleep on my right I dont get it.

oinkyoink im in denial too. Was at my brothers BBQ this weekend and had to keep repeating when i was due, think it was only at that point did I think shit just over 4 weeks to go!!

Gemsie77 · 20/07/2011 09:59

Hi Root, my c section is booked a week before due date but I'm worried things might happen earlier. The reason I'm having a c section is because I had an op on my bladder 3 years ago and going into labour would undo the op which would be an absolue nightmare. I need to speak to the consultant about this as I don't think she is taking my concerns totally on board. We do have a 38 week scan though, so I guess they can tell more then.

Hi Winterlover.....(I love everyone user names!!!) I sleep on my left which is advised, but this is how I sleep anyway and most of my pain is on my right....weird???

Hi all, thanks for letting me into your forum, haven't had time to get on it before but now I'm offf work it's great to be in contact with those going through the same! Life is already changing, some sleepless nights, not going out crazy partying and spending money on baby stuff like wild fire so I guess in that respect I'm prepared but can't get my head around that life will really change in less than 4 weeks.....eeeeeeeeek!

WinterLover · 20/07/2011 12:48

Well im back from MW's :(

Yes it was mucus plug/bloody show yesterday, however baby is now measuring 37 weeks rather than 35+5 so it is off the chart, but her main concern is after 15min of prodding and poking (which really hurt today) she couldnt confirm whether baby was head down or breech. If it is breech it would explain why im measuring big and still high. Shes also concerned as bump is all baby and could mean low fluid.

I have a consultant appointment and scan on Friday and have to go back to MW for weekly checks now rather than fortnightly :(

She says 'not to worry you but if you go into labour before friday ring straight away and tell them you've been refered to consultant for presentation as MW believes its unstable lie' :( If it is breech they wont do an ECV as I have an anterior placenta.

Oh and she kept saying that you can lose your mucus plug/have a bloody show up to 2 weeks before you go into labour - maybe my private growth scan was right then... we shall see Grin

Its going to be a long 2 days!!!

Rootatoot · 20/07/2011 16:18

oh winter they do like to throw things at us to make us worry these babies don't they?! When you say measuring, is that the MW with tape measure? I honestly don't think that is much to go by. Try not to worry until scan which will be more accurate and tell you more. Shame you have to wait till Friday. Read your Jenny Smith book about breech positions - think she said you can do stuff to help them turn which will do no harm if they're NOT breech IFSWIM.

I'm anterior placenta too but nobody has ever mentioned it to me - just noticed it still says it in my scan notes!

I had my growth scan and consultant appointment today. He HAS grown which is good but they reckon he's still small. Seemed quite happy that BP not gone up (back at usual 'high' level) and doppler blood flow scan was ok. The registrar was lovely and actually explained things well which I appreciate. The consultant wasn't in, but she is more brief. I'll really have to try and be switched on next week so I can grasp what they're proposing. It's a struggle on these tablets. I could barely stand up straight by time I came home at lunchtime.

Dh was rubbish this morning. Came up to hospital with me then realised they were running really late and left me there as he said he couldn't wait. Things to do. :( I'm a bit upset with him. I really wanted him to be there with registrar today. Luckily they didn't make decision about induction today but it was a possibility, & with me being 'not with it', I find it helps if someone else is there to remember what the doc says too. I have visions of going through labour on my own, esp if they induce me and it takes ages.

WinterLover · 20/07/2011 19:17

Oh root your DH needs a shake!! Does he not 'get' it? You know how men are.. DPs just the same but I know if he couldnt make it or something he'd get me to ring my mum.

Getting fed up now, im absolutly knackered between getting up every 45min during the night and DPs early (3am) starts its taking it out of me! Got period cramps and baby is having a party in there so god knows whats going on.

Going to let tea settle then get to bed, DP's in his garage 'altering' part of the rocking crib as it wasnt very secure Hmm I set the crib up in our room this afternoon, its made it feel soooooo real now, although it did mean shifiting a lot of crap around.

Rootatoot · 20/07/2011 22:15

Unfortunately my family live hundreds of miles away. Mum keeps saying she'll come if I want her to but to be honest, it'd be a palava. She won't drive. They're intending to come when baby arrives in their motorhome (dad will drive) and camp (good as not staying at house. Bad because they won't have any transport so no idea how they think they'll visit if I'm stuck in hosptial 15 miles away) They won't be much use in all honesty.

I'm lucky I have a couple of good friends who are great support though. Feel very let down by DH though to be honest. Doesn't bode well if I get induced. I feel pretty much on my own with this but then deep down I didn't think he'd be any different. I was reluctant to have kids for ages because I knew I wouldn't have any support from him, even though he very much wants our baby. He just is such a bluddy child, which can be endearing but right now is so annoying.

To be fair though, he has put the shelf up in baby's room. Swings and roundabouts. Sorry sarcasm alert. I think I should go to sleep. I'm too grumpy to snap out of it today.

winter glad your DP is back from his travels. I really MUST get moses basket stand and bed for baby set up too. It will seem v real then. Maybe that will help it sink in with my DH?!?

Eviepoo · 20/07/2011 22:27

Hi guys,

winter I'm sure Fridays scan will show everything ok. Don't pay attention to that tape measure - I'm measring 2 to 3 weeks big by that, but only 3 days big by scan... with another lanky baby on the way it's just taking up more room. I know at 5'4 they don't expect me to have long babies. But DD was very long and now has approx 1cm to go and she will be taller than me (so taller than me by 12!! at the current growth rate) her biological dad is 6'4 and my DH is 6'...thats where they get the lankyness from then Grin.

What date are you from your private scan?....so if you have had your show, you could be having your baby fairly soon. With DD I had my show 4 hours before delivery, I was already having contractions 2 minutes apart!! so there was no doubting that I was on my way Grin

What time if your scan on Friday? - I see midwife at 10.40 (which means it will be after 11)

I too am shattered...zzzzzzz bed soon - painted my nails so waiting for them to dry first

Oh and I too have an anterior placenta....

root glad your BP is 'ok' and you are holding on in there, everyday closer to term is a day for him to get bigger :), also give your DH a shake from me too!! When is your next appointment? - Tell him now, be there or get someone to be there with me.

I'm a little stressed re how much I have to do at work before next Friday. In other news I had a bit of a rant today, called the Dir in the US and ranted about a member of the team over there sending arsey emails just cos I pointed out he wasn't following the procedure. Was great - I just blamed my rant on hormones and she was ace about the whole thing and will speak to him - re actually following what the rest of us do :)

The other thing is (TMI alert) - have you lot got extra hairy? I am hating it, I am okay with shaving my pits every other day in shower but reaching my legs is quite a chore. Just had a bath and had to just do best I could with legs. Bikini area was at the 'I can't bear this' point and all I can say is I got DH's clippers and a razor for the edges and it was done by 'feel and faith!' - It's probably a total mess but at least I don't feel like it's trying to climb out of the glamourous big PG pants anymore. On the positive side there was also no blood - I think all in it's was quite successful.
How are you guys 'managing' this? - or maybe you haven't been turned into half woman half hairy beast by the raging PG hormones. (Maybe it seems worse for me I'm normally not very hairy - and I am blonde, I shouldn't complain too much).

Bad BH's and my eyelids are drooping, I think it's time for bed. I'll check in tomorrow for all the latest news :) night

Rootatoot · 20/07/2011 22:39

TMI ALERT...evie thanks for making me laugh! I needed that. Well, on the hairy fanjo front....I caught sight of mine in the mirror the other day. I look like something from the 70s! So I kind of went for the feel and faith method in the shower this morning, just to 'flymo' it all down a bit. Not sure if success but I agree, if it can't be contained by my unsexy granny pants, then it is OUT OF CONTROL!

I can't say I'm hairier as such apart from a fluffy belly. I seriously look like a kiwi fruit when i look down sometimes. All the fluffy little blonde hairs (weirdly, I'm dark!) just stand on end. I'm sure someone said on here it's more common if you're having a boy. Strange to think all the weirdness will end soon!

theonlyhb2 · 21/07/2011 00:04

after today's drama of OH driving to hospital for scan, i think i shall be driving myself there in labour for my sanity. As for the comment about him being tired because i cant sleep and then wake him up being restless......

Gem i get terrible pelvic and back trouble anyway and sciatica is fucking horrid. I have been stuck on the toilet before as i just cant move and often cant sleep on one side. Doesnt help my pelvis has rotated again too. Cant wait for baby to arrive then i can get fixed!

Eviepoo · 21/07/2011 07:19

root really thats a sign of a boy? I too look like a kiwi with blonde sticking out hairs on my bump.

  • haha so maybe we need to market the 'feel and faith flymo' method of controlling pregnant 'bush issues'

theonlyhb what happened driving in?
