Hello all and congratulations ng and juneau!

So I also gave birth to a bouncing baby boy after a rather horrid three-day labour on the 9th of May. He is absolutely gorgeous and perfect and I don't think I've ever loved anyone more.

Good luck with everyone still waiting around, it'll all be worth it in the end! X

pissovski · 13/05/2011 09:57

cowboylover Had sweep on wed but nothing has happened. The mw said everything looked good, 1cm dilated, and she would be surprised if i went to 42 weeks. So far - nothing, not even a show (lost a tiny bit of mucus that's all).

I think she just said it make me feel better!

Am booked for induction next wed if nothing has happened by then

LabMonkey · 13/05/2011 21:34

Congratulations Marabou Grin

trixie123 · 14/05/2011 20:31

hi
am crossing to the "arrived" side of the convo. DD born on thurs by CS. All well and home now. Nicest thing is DS1 is being very very sweet. He is only 21 months but keeps stroking her head Smile. Best of luck to all xx

clarabella18 · 14/05/2011 22:08

Congratulations trixie and marabou!

Really really wish I was joi g all those with announcements! Getting really fed up now, had backache last night and thought "yes here we go" but nothing. Bugger! Got MW on Tuesday so see what's happening ( if anything!) by then.

Teasie · 16/05/2011 07:41

Congratulations to all the new mums! The first baby in our antenatal class came on Friday and the excitement is now really building up!

trixie123 · 16/05/2011 12:52

clarabella just be aware that I saw my MW in the afternoon and she said I was nowehere near. My waters broke that night! You never can tell! best of luck

pinkgirlythoughts · 16/05/2011 17:21

Due date today and still waiting over here :( Midwife said at 38 week appointment that I seemed like I was ready to go, and probably wouldn't make it to the 40 week appointment, but this morning (at the 40 week appointment!) she seemed to think I'll have a while to go yet, and was talking about 'when' I go for my sweep next week, rather than 'if.'

Sweep is booked for May 23rd (my sister's birthday), and if I end up having a long labour, it'll arrive on May 24th (my birthday). Just crossing my fingers it arrives before then, as I don't want my bub to share a birthday!

growing3rdbump · 16/05/2011 18:58

Hi all - have had very busy week so only just managed to read through! Congratulations to all those with new babies!!! Hope things get started for you soon Pinkgirly - my first daughter arrived 2 days before my birthday and I was born on my mum's birthday!

I am pleased to report that little Esme Jennifer arrived 6 days early, last Tuesday night! She was born at home weighing 7lbs 12ozs and so far is adored by her big sister and ignored by big brother!!!

Her timing was pretty good as she arrived the day before Ds's 4th birthday, which may have spoiled things for him a bit, but he did manage to put on a brave face and at least they'll each have their own special day.

Everything went very fast, as with the first two, and after waters breaking at 5.20pm I called DH and the midwife to come. They both arrived after 6pm, contractions really started at 7ish and baby Esme was born at 9.25pm in the same room my son was born in almost 4 yrs to the day! All my labours have been nothing to everything very fast - you certainly never know when it'll be!

Anyway, after having survived two babies that never slept I have been blessed with a sleeper! She is feeding from 8pm - midnight and then sleeping until 6/7am, which has totally amazed me!

cowboylover · 17/05/2011 00:19

Pink: I don't think they usually work straight away but maybe wrong so fingers crossed for you she may arrive on her own before or after your birthday Smile

Thanks for the reminder Trixie that things can happen quickly, I find myself getting to around lunch time and then deciding its obviously not going to be today so must learn to be more open minded.

Ahh growing that sounds good and sure DS will come around.

My friend who was 40+4 had a check up and now being induced due to pre elampcia so thinking about her and wondering when I will be there as well as now nearly 40+1

My gorgeous (and tiny) breech baby girl Edie May was born by section on Friday 13th :-)

JBrd · 17/05/2011 08:56

Congratulations growing and Biggem! Smile

Nothing happening here, I'm 41+1. Had a sweep yesterday, another on Thursday coming, booked in for induction on Saturday - really really hope it won't come to that! Cervix still completely closed yesterday, though, so not too hopeful...

Bubandbump · 17/05/2011 09:11

Congratulations to those with their babies - very jealous!

Jbrd I am 41+1 today too and not had a sweep yet - they won't do them here until 41 weeks and they promised me an appointment either yesterday or today.. Still waiting and so also have no idea how likely it is to work..

I am booked for induction on Sunday and honestly think that we'll end up with it - this baby just doesn't want to come out despite being at 9llbs 10 at a scan on Friday. Not sure how much bigger it feels it needs to get!

Feel like there's something wrong with my body that just won't do this pregnancy thing properly!

It is a full moon tonight and apparently they staff up the wards as waters are more likely to go tonight..fingers crossed but not really holding out much hope.

sarahbeth2 · 17/05/2011 09:24

Oo im a week away but suffering from headaches, anyone else?
Congrats all so far

dizzy77 · 17/05/2011 10:10

I keep meaning to bob on and congratulate each new arrival and then by the time I get to it another couple have turned up! Well done all, hope you are enjoying your new bundles and being well looked after to recover.

39+6 here and a big false alarm yesterday - I actually posted separately as I wasn't sure what to do. Saw midwife on Friday who confirmed head was fully engaged, but she called first thing as had been reflecting at weekend and wanted me to go for a presentation scan to double check as she wondered if we might be breech. Waddled off to triage who saw me very quickly and scanned, confirmed we're head first which is good, then obstetrician helping me off bed said "Looks like you might be going into labour"!. Now, I'd been uncomfortable all day Sunday and was still BHing, although I slept overnight. BHs continued during day: nothing that stopped me in my tracks but repeated discomfort in my back. Called DH home, set myself up with TENS machine. A few hours later thought TENS might be particularly effective or I'm having a very easy ride as I didn't notice any pains. Took it off late evening, decided to see if I could sleep. And I did. Nothing since. A bit miffed: looking forward to meeting baby, and feeling a bit of a wally for getting all worked up Blush. But, presume this means not long now...

cowboylover · 17/05/2011 10:57

Congratulations Biggem!

Bump; I am hoping for the full moon to help tonight as well, sat up in bed last night as sure I could feel a bulging sensation then nothing!
I know I should be being more active but all I want to do is stay in bed and DH won't let me out without someone else now after I have been fainting again.

Sarah: do you have any other symptoms such as swelling ect? I don't know if its linked but my friend had them a lot last week and now has pre-eclampcia

Dizzy: I hope something happens for you soon Smile
Everything has stopped here and trying to remind myself to keep positive, all the discomfort and cramps ect I was having have stopped so DH thinks its just the calm before the storm. I hope so!

Congratulations Growing and Biggem! Full moon tonight eh??? I had heard some theories about babies making their way on a full moon but didn't know the hospitals staff up in anticipation. I'm due next week but getting impatient now and wouldn't mind if she decided to come tonight...I'll drink copious amounts of raspberry leaf tea and do a yoga session. Fingers crossed and best of luck everyone! X

sarahbeth2 · 17/05/2011 11:49

My hands are a bit puffy but have a midwife appointment tomorrow so will ask her then to make sure. Did she just have headaches for a few days before it went into somthing else then? Just keep taking paracetamol but get it back again, nothing harsh just headache/fuzzy head ;(

cowboylover · 17/05/2011 14:26

That's a good plan sarah, she said last week she had headaches and swollen feet and on MW appointment yesterday they sent her to hospital to get checked straight away.
Like I said it may not be linked but good to mention tomorrow.

Got very over excited earlier something was starting as had really strong tightenings but now nothing Sad

He's arrived!

Ds 2 finally here, woke up at 3:30 on Monday morning (39+5) with contractions every 10 minutes or so, wasn't sure at first as they felt very different this time round. Got up at 5:30 and wrote out my birth plan (not that I should have bothered!) woke dp at 6 and told him this was it. Phoned hospital at 6:30 they told me to stay at home until either my waters went or I was 5 minutes apart. I needed to get to hospital at least 4 hours before giving birth as I had tested positive for gbs.

Dp took ds to breakfast club while I showered and dressed. By the time he came back just after 8 was every 5 minutes. Phoned hospital again and was told that's ok take your time. By 8:20 contractions every 2-3 minutes, phoned a cab for the 20 minute journey to hospital.

Got to the hospital with 5 minutes to spare, was shelled along to a makeshift delivery room whilst various people pulled off my shoes and trousers as I lay half across the bed, 2 pushes abd he was born at 9:15 am weighing 8lb 3.5oz. Birthplan remained in bag throughout whole event!

Was all a bit in shock and needless to say never got my antibiotics do have to stay in for at least 48 hours so he can get them instead, hopefully will get home tomorrow for my birthday because god knows I need a drink after all that drama! If you saw it happening in a film you'd think it was a complete farce!

Oh and we gave the poor old taxi driver a good tip too, probably hasn't heard that many swear words that early on a morning for a while!!

Labella77 · 18/05/2011 11:45

Well done you Clarabella all sounds very dramatic.

I'm 38.2 today and had a consultant check, have been advised that if needed induction will be 41.5, that's so long to wait. I'm walking like a penguin and can barely do anything now, lets hope it doesn't go on for much longer.

I was hoping for some full moon action last night, but i just slept right through, which in itself is a rareity these days.

Bubandbump · 18/05/2011 11:55

Clarabella - many congratulations. It's lovely to hear birth stories and know that it's not just a myth that they come out

No full moon action here either ..but I also had a great night's sleep which was a good second best!

41+2..

growing3rdbump · 18/05/2011 12:27

Congratulations Clarabella! I had a similar experience to that with my first baby (remember desperately pulling trousers off just in time!!)

It could be any day now for those of you still waiting. With each of mine there was no real indication things were getting started until it all happened suddenly and all three were born within 3 hrs of contractions starting!

Teasie · 18/05/2011 14:02

Congratulations Clarabella! No full moon action here either :)

soandsosmum · 18/05/2011 14:03

Congratulations to all the new mummies!

I had a sweep this morning, as I'm 40+5 but nothing yet
MW booked me in for a consultant appointment as I don't really want to be induced at 40+10, and I'd like to continue with our plans for a homebirth unless there's a need for us to be in hosp.

Anyone else declining induction?
