First trimester - counting down to week 12

Currently 8 weeks - by my counting but was ill before this so not entirely sure of when I had my last period. Hospital has set up my first appointment on the 6th April and in the meantime I have been reading as much as I can about pregancy. At the moment have all the usual preganancy symptoms but from the internet research I have done I have a 50:50 chance of miscarriage and that doesn't factor my age as I am over 35. Anyone else just counting down the weeks to the end of the first trimester?

Thoughts with you gettingbigger

I do hope they get some idea of the reasons behind it and you can try again soon.

I know my mil took 6 goes in between my dh and his sister, sometimes, things will just be as they are meant to be, and you have to think, that your baby will come when the time is right.

lkane0 · 03/05/2011 18:39

So sorry to read that news. My thoughts are with you! It's such a scary time. Wishing you well.
Am now 11 weeks, but haven't had a scan yet, and am alarmed by the lack of checks at the GPs or midwife booking appointment - since that very first pregnancy test, no-one's actually checked that a baby's there and is healthy. Scared to believe it's all going to be ok yet. Scan next Thursday...

FeelLikeTweedleDee · 03/05/2011 19:38

Can I join you ladies? I'm a noob. Only 6 weeks. Don't you just hate the first trimester?

Bexworth28 · 04/05/2011 14:00

Hi guys, hope you don't mind me joining this group, I'm 10 weeks PG tomorrow and OMG is it going slowly!

I had to join when I saw your post lkane0 - it's exactly how I've been feeling, I keep thinking what if there's nothing there but surely I'd have bled or something? I've hardly got any symptoms other than sore boobs and tiredness, sounds daft but I keep thinking at least if I was suffering from MS constantly (rather than every now and then) I'd know everything was ok.

Just want to get to my scan and see it's there and then I can relax and start telling people - I keep feeling like I'm going too jinx it!

lkane0 · 04/05/2011 17:04

Exactly! Though I do have MS. Currently sitting on the sofa working out what I can cook for dinner that won't make me retch.... Don't wish for it :)
Hope time passes quickly for you!

ShimmeryPixie · 04/05/2011 17:09

just joining the thread, and will write more when I'm not at work Grin

Flowerydems · 05/05/2011 11:36

Well I'm finally at 12 weeks and after counting down the past 8 weeks to my scan it's here tomorrow. And I couldn't be more terrified. More scared about going and getting bad news than anything else. Guess I've heard to many stories of MMC etc and have sadly instilled this fear in my DP.
Thankfully I've not had any bad pain etc but think I've read too much on google for that to reassure me at all.

Anyone got any advise for going into the scan with a positive attitude? Feel like my bumps whole existence so far has been surrounded by me being negative and paranoid. :(

xx

Staceroo · 05/05/2011 22:17

Hi All! Glad to see some newbies here, welcome!

I can proudly announce that I've also reached the magic 12 week mark! ( Yay Flowery!

Had our scan on Tuesday and it was wonderful! Baby was so full of life and movement!

Sorry I can't offer any advice though Flowery I was a complete wreck before going into mine!

Good luck tomorrow!

PoppysMom · 06/05/2011 01:50

Good luck Flowery! The worry is horrible, but MMCs are actually not all that common. It seems they are, because people will more often share bad news than good.
I have my 11+6 NT scan next Tuesday, but already saw little bouncy baby on Wednesday.
Can't wait to be out of this trimester

Missyraines · 08/05/2011 11:55

Hey guys, been a while...

Staceroo that's fab news. My scan is tomorrow and I'll be bang on 12w (if dates are correct) We'll have to do a second trimester room soon. Or is there one already and I'm being dim? I blame these darn pregnancy hormornes. I'm so forgetful at the moment. But I wouldn't have it any other way after our journey to get here so far....

Good luck for others scans coming up too.

sevendwarves · 08/05/2011 12:35

Can I join? I'm 9 weeks today, only 3 to go and have my booking appointment on 18th May.

Bexworth when I was pregnant with DS I was shocked that my GP didn't want to do a test but he said that the ones on the high street are just as good as the ones they use.

UnicornFan · 09/05/2011 11:39

Am 12 weeks today! :-)
Unfortunately I wish I wasn?t such a negative thinker. For some reason am preventing myself getting excited until we have the scan which is booked in on Wednesday (phew!). Have first MW app tonight too!

Does anyone, when they get up from sitting down, get an uncomfortable/small cramp like pain? It?s not every time but has happened a few times.....

Staceroo · 10/05/2011 13:25

Hi Unicorn, I do get this, and i think it's just all of the ligaments and muscles etc oving and stretching making room for baby!

So I've read on here anyway!

Missyraines · 10/05/2011 13:51

Unicorn we are the same date wise. I had my 12w scan yesterday and am bang on for 12 weeks. Bean was jumping and moving and we could see fingers, arms, legs and a big belly. So amazing to think that they are inside me! My belly is starting to protrude a bit now.

Good luck for tomorrow.

BabyMonkey78 · 10/05/2011 14:14

Hi
Pls can I join? Am 5wks, first pregnancy, no MS - so hoping all is well. A few cramps & sore boobs but nothing more. Went to the GP this morning and they didn't do any more tests either.

Really can't wait to get to the 12week mark.....

UnicornFan · 10/05/2011 15:58

BabyMonkey78 congrats! I didn't know how on earth was gonna wait until 12 weeks but all of a sudden it is here! The time went so slowly to start with, I was crossing off days on my self made calendar :-)

Staceroo i'm so glad to hear this feeling is potentially muscular and that am not alone!

First MW app was a load of form filling but nice to see the hospital anyway.

This time in 24 hours I would have had my scan ? can?t wait!!!!

Mum2be79 · 10/05/2011 16:20

Hello! I'm from the York area (a village south of the city)

I'm 5 weeks + 4 days - confirmed on Friday 6th May. Baby 'due' January 6th 2012.
I'm so pleased I found this thread as reading all of your posts has made me more reassured and accepting that what I feel is 'normal'. I have (in order of severity and frequency) sore breasts, period-like-cramps, nausea. Sometimes, I have none and question whether I am pregnant or not!
I am a bit alarmed at the lack of checks before 12 weeks. Most women go two months of believing they are pregnant before a scan can reveal that actually the pregnancy was not successful. It seems other countries take pregnancy more seriously than the UK.
I had a panic yesterday as had a niggling, uncomfortable feeling deep in my left side near my hip and as my doctor on Friday warned me that I was at slight risk of an ectopic, I was scared. He reassured me and I am NOT having any ectopic symptoms.
I can't wait until 24th June when I 'hit' the 12 week mark!

H007 · 10/05/2011 16:21

Two more sleeps till my scan, I am 12+4 and its ALL I can think about. I had a private scan done at 7+5 as I didn't know how pregnant I was and I'm impatient and bean was doing all the things he should be at that stage, and had a little heartbeat, since I had that scan all I've wanted is this one.

BabyMonkey78 · 10/05/2011 16:40

Totally agree with you, Mum2be79 - it's scary to think that we really don't know anything definite until 12weeks. I'm trying not to get myself too stressed as I know it's not good!
Seem like we're at roughtly the same point, my due date is 11th Jan and 12weeks is on 29th June.
Congrats to you and try not to worry too much!

Good luck with your scan staceroo!

Staceroo · 11/05/2011 22:06

I love that this thread has moved on to a whole new group of 1st trimester-ers now that us original lot have all moved past that magic point! Xx

cookie9 · 12/05/2011 16:43

Looks like I am moving on from the first trimester club too. Good luck to all. It is lovely to share and realise you are not alone.

Can i join - am 4w5d by LMP (4w1d by ovulation) - really not sure which date to go on.
Am scared witless - have booked private reassurance scan - but now stressing about dates and whether it will be too soon (scan booked for 28th May) - will be 7 weeks by LMP, 6w3d by ovulation - desperate to see heartbeat as know risk drops after seen - and worried will lose plot if not seen as too early - what do you think??
Also - what can I do ablout the bloody wind - has anyone ever died from gas??? It is so uncomfortable, started 4 days ago and I looked 7 months gone overnight!
When should I expect the deep joy of MS?? Some nausia and food aversion at the moment but nothing major - just v sore bbs, wind, minor cramping and hot flushes.........tell me it gets better!

PoppysMom · 13/05/2011 03:46

Fr00tbat, won't be to early :)
Congratulations

fr00tbat · 14/05/2011 11:28

thanks - will keep posted

Mum2be79 · 14/05/2011 21:48

I received my booking in appointment for 7th June. By then I'll be 9w + 4. I had a bit of a worry day today (it's my own fault for reading too much!). I had a 'brilliant' morning of not feeling any pregnancy symptoms (except mild breast soreness and slight backache) but then I got it into my head that the pregnancy was probably not going to be successful and it'll probably be a blighted ovum. By mid afternoon, my nausea and cramps had returned. I can't win! I worry when I have no or little symptoms and then panic when I do!

I mentioned a private scan to DH but he seems to think we'll be fine?!? Wondering how people go about booking one. I live in East Riding. Googled it and came up with Hull and Leeds at the top of search page.
