First trimester - counting down to week 12

Currently 8 weeks - by my counting but was ill before this so not entirely sure of when I had my last period. Hospital has set up my first appointment on the 6th April and in the meantime I have been reading as much as I can about pregancy. At the moment have all the usual preganancy symptoms but from the internet research I have done I have a 50:50 chance of miscarriage and that doesn't factor my age as I am over 35. Anyone else just counting down the weeks to the end of the first trimester?

Hi Missyraines that is so funny. I had the same a few days a go. I thought I was going to die!!

Based on my doctor's scan I am 7 weeks today, but have a tilted uterus, so may be a couple of days further along.

I am exhausted all the time and the sore breasts keep me awake most nights :(
I also never know what to eat and my appetite is all over the place. Sometimes I have no desire to eat at all, so I force myself to eat a little (helps keep the nausea at bay too) and other days I can't stop eating!

Staceroo · 12/04/2011 12:33

poppysmom I'm just the same with the eating! Though I've not actually been sick once the thought of some foods makes me heave!

missy I feel your pain! I seem to have a similar problem, though mines often when dh is around Blush I do blame it on the baby though, which I'm sure he'll tell him/her all about when they're older!

cookie pleased to have someone to compare notes with! I wonder which of us will get our baby first! Might be a race on now! I don't have a date for my 12 week scan yet, waiting for it to come through the post! Can't wait though, just thinking come saturday, its only 2 weeks, and then after the bank holiday it's only a week, trying to make it come sooner!

Not much new with me, just tired and worrying a lot! Lost all motivation at work to, as all I can think about is my little bean, but noone knows so can't talk about it! :(

HPSource · 13/04/2011 20:40

sunshine and cookie I felt I had to tell my boss at 5 weeks - I have a fairly demanding job (long hours, lots of stress etc) and needed someone to take control of my workload. So glad I did as I am finding it hard enough to stay awake during "normal" hours.

poppysmum sometimes I have a very strong desire to eat certain things and sometimes nothing seems to fit the bill. I'm finding I need to snack all day to stop myself feeling sick... I'm going to be HUGE soon (and can't really blame it on bubs just yet!)

PoppysMom · 14/04/2011 02:29

Staceroo and HPSource it is dreadful. I have been trying to eat throughout the day too, but my stomach seems to get upset.

To make matters worse today though, when i woke my breasts weren't sore and i started panicking like crazy. DH kept trying to calm me down and tried to talk some sense into me.
Can't wait for my scan in just under 3 weeks :(

I hope the soreness comes back soon, so that I can find my zen again Wink

HPSource · 14/04/2011 19:22

poppysmum I wouldn't worry too much about your breasts not being sore... it happened to me a few days ago which caused me to panic but I found some comments on a mumsnet thread where a number of people commented that their symptoms were coming and going... whatdoyouknow, now they are back to their old ways! Ditto about the scan, I'm 7 weeks tomorrow so still have a way to go before I reach that milestone :(
I hope you manage to get the ms under control soon

Staceroo · 14/04/2011 21:07

Mine come and go too, so don't worry too much! The itchy nipples are annoying me now though! (sorry tmi!)

LyraBelaqua · 14/04/2011 22:03

Ive got my scan tomorrow, am v v v nervous please let everything go well. On the plus side symptoms going so can eat again by my reckoning I'm 10 wks 5 days :)

HPSource · 14/04/2011 22:26

good luck lyra

lkane0 · 15/04/2011 15:26

Good luck girls with time passing quickly and getting those scans!
I'm 8 weeks and feel (& look!) sooo bloated. The MS means i can't bear to suck my tummy in like i might any other time. Any good tips for what to wear so I don't look like i've just been eating pies?

Staceroo · 15/04/2011 18:57

Ikane I have the same problem, there's a few pairs of jeans and some work skirts which have been relegated to the back of the wardrobe already!

If you have to dress smart for work, I wear a lot of suit dresses which are tight under the boobs and come out above the stomache and then taper in to the knee. These are really good for me as throughout the day my stomache gets bigger and bigger as I get bloated.

Was wearing a pencil skirt today and I swear I saw one of the managers casting an eye and my podge! Blush

Hope all went well today Lyra, do let us know!

LyraBelaqua · 16/04/2011 20:01

Hello, all went very well with scan am 11wk 5d today so very nearly in my second trimester. It was amazing I could make out baby's nose and where the eyes and mouth were and saw it's little feet. Now I just can't believe I've got someone wriggling around inside me who is 48.2mm long and I cant feel a thing. Total magic:)))) Hope everything gos as well for everyone else xx

missvague · 17/04/2011 08:20

hello! my 1st post, but had to as this thread has eased my mind considerably! i'm 8 weeks tomorrow, and have been to see my gp, who referred me to the mw. however as i'm moving house (wakefield to london!) in a couple of weeks, the mw told me to wait and get booked in there... can't believe i have to wait another 2 weeks before i can even ask for a midwife apt, let alone see someone!

i'm 37 and this is my 1st, and a natural worrier, so this is not an ideal situation... also loads of stress with the house move/buying/selling business. i also have horrendous ms, from dawn til dusk, and sometimes in the middle of the night! bleugh. but on the positive side, this is deffo making me feel pg, so is quite reassuring. surely i couldn't feel this vile if there was something wrong?

oh, and thanks for this thread not making me feel like the only loon knicker checking!

Staceroo · 17/04/2011 10:52

Congratulations Lyra Thats brilliant news! Can't wait for my next scan, to see baby actually looking like a baby!

Welcome missvague, glad you've said hello! Must be frustrating waiting for the move before you can do anything, but at least once you see mw, you should be getting booked straight in for the scan!

LadyOfTheManor · 17/04/2011 12:52

I'm sooooooooo sick :( I feel terrible. I literally cannot get out of bed for more than about 3 minutes without throwing up.

Missyraines · 17/04/2011 14:34

Hello to new women on here. Join the club now that you're in the club!

I've a weird question. Did any of you or are any of you suffering with sneezing a lot or runny noses? I seem to be sneezing a lot and my nose is running but I don't have hayfever or a cold. Just another weird thing my body is doing now it has a visitor on board.

Lovely weather today so am enjoying (well doing) gardening. Hubby away so keep coming in for a sit down on the sofa and did just have a power nap as I'm still exhausted most of the time. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow.

Staceroo · 17/04/2011 16:03

Hi Missy, I've got out of the actual doing of the gardening, and have moved into a more supervisory role over the dh! lol! I read that you have to be careful with soil etc, incase of cats mess... so that's my excuse! I don't have a particulary runny nose, any more than usual, as I've always had trouble with my sinuses anyway, but I have had stuff on my chest a lot more causing me to cough all the time! Which is rubbish because it hurts when I cough!

Lady feel sorry for you being sick, mine seems to have passed (at least for now)! Can't be nice to be sick on a nice day like this!

All of you due in November, should join the November bus in the ante natal thread if you haven't already!

missvague · 17/04/2011 17:06

thanks staceroo, very good to have some company as we've not really told anyone yet, and the oh is already down in london. i'm fed up of keeping my sickly misery to myself!

i too am exhausted - and sneezing! i thought maybe i was getting hayfever, but i've never really had it before. bizarre.

i'm currently surrounded by empty boxes, and no energy to fill them. also house is being surveyed tomorrow and i really need to get it straight. another power nap 1st maybe...

Missyraines · 24/04/2011 10:59

How are all us lovely first trimesters doing?

I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow and had a few days at the beginning of the week of sickness but, touch wood, all has disappeared. My appetite is still off and I never know what I want to eat. My boobs are a little bigger (so hubby says) they just seem fuller. I'm small anyway so I'm looking forward to this perk.

I just want to tell everyone as it seems a very long time.

Have any of you told people yet? Or when/how are you planning to?

Oh and happy Easter. [busmile]

Dutchie77 · 25/04/2011 18:47

Hi all!

I am soooo glad to read all your messages. I am 5 weeks and 5 days. The first two weeks after I found out, I was really paranoid about a miscarriage. But I learned how to trust my body a bit more. Now I can actually enjoy being pregnant. I have these waves of nausea throughout the day, and my boobs are painfull aaahhh. But if that's it... I am a happy girl. Btw: I had to buy a maternity bra already cause my boobs are exploding!Shock

Everybody good luck with counting down to your scans!!

Staceroo · 25/04/2011 21:25

Hi Missy We told our mums on mothers day (cheesy I know!) Wasn't planned, but we thought my mum was getting suspicious, as we spent the weekend with them and she kept questionning my eating habits, and that I wasn't drinking any tea!

Have 12 week scan next tues, so going to tell everyone them if everythings ok. We've a list of people we need to ring and tell over the phone, sister, close friends, grandparents etc, then prob just let word spread to everyone else. Sure it wont be long for facebook to pick it up!

Miss V saw you joined the November group on the ante natal threads, missy you should come find us there too.

Dutchie sounds like you're considerably relaxed for a TM1'er! My boobs had gone up twp cup sizes by 9 weeks! One of the positives! Especially the last week as they've stopped hurting so much, so dh can enjoy them too!!!

PoppysMom · 26/04/2011 04:10

I am sneezing a lot too. I assumed I was getting a cold! It hasn't come yet though and the sneezing has been ongoing for over a week.
I am 9 weeks today and can't wait for my next scan. 8 days to go...

We have told our parents, DH's brother and his wife and I told my best friend.
My Mum decided to tell everyone she meets in the street :(

gettingbigger123 · 26/04/2011 21:43

Hi Ladies,

After some bleeding over the weekend (2nd bout, had a scan at 7+4 the first time and everything was fine), I had a scan today and found out that my baby had died shortly after the first scan at around 8 weeks. I was 10+2 today. Feel a bit shell shocked right now and DH has taken this quite hard too, got a ERPC booked for Friday. Sad

This is my 3rd MC now (the others at 4+3, 5 weeks and this MMC around 8 weeks), so will be getting tested to see what is going on.

Hope all your pregnancies progress well!

cookie9 · 27/04/2011 08:27

I am so sorry Gettingbigger my thoughts are with you and your DH.

I am waiting for the doc to call me back as have had stomach cramps since last night. NHS Direct nurse was very nice and thinks it is just my muscles but thinks it is just as well to get it checked out. Currently 11 weeks +4. I have a couple of friends going down the IVF route so they are just concentrating on getting pregnanat. I can't tell them that it just the start of the stress.

Missyraines · 27/04/2011 10:54

That's such terribly sad news. Take time to heal and cry as much as you need. There is no two ways about it, it is awful. No words will comfort, but please know we are all gutted for both of you.

My thoughts are with you.

gettingbigger123 · 27/04/2011 13:10

thanks ladies, once I have had the ERPC on Friday, I will be fine and ready to move on. DH seems to have come round now too, think it was just the shock really that hit us.
